Volume Jump issue

Hooray, I figured out how to post a question, haha.
I love my new nano, but there is a small bug in the software that is starting to bug me. Basically, the volume hikes up an insane amount (especially noticeable when using headphones) when randomly hitting the next track button. It's not a difference in volume level in the actual song, as I can press forward and then previous track and then it's an acceptable sound level again. the volume indicator is not affected, naturally my reaction when music is blaring in my ears is to turn it down, and it usually ends up below half way. press forward and reverse track to go back to the same song and I'm turning it back up to about 7/8ths of the way to full.
This usually seems to happen when I seek through quite a few songs in a short amount of time.
Just putting that out there, in hopes of a software update fix. Thanks

most comment here have been about sound jumping up. I'm having a slightly different issue. When I listen to a play list (or even the radio, thats why I dont think its a pre-setting with a particular song) the sound drops to 0. I then take the nano and increase the sound by hitting the plus sign. I can get it up half way, and right before my eyes the sound drops back to 0. It's driving me crazy. It usually happens after 30 minutes of use. Has anyone gotten through that problem?
I tried rebooting the nano, and then it might work for a day or two, but then I'm back to having the volume drop to 0 all over again. Please help

Midi Volume Jump

I am having an issue with my midid tracks that involves the volume jumping to +0.4 no matter where it is set. Even if it's automated it still jumps even though the automation line shows no increase.
It might be related to the sustain pedal but it's not consistent with the sustain activations. If I copy the midi info and put it in a new region the problem seems to go away. Anybody have this experience or know why it might be happening and how to make it stop?

The hyper draw helped with tracks that have midi info in them, but the volume also jumps in spots where there is no info so it's impossible to check anything in hyper draw. If I'm in record mode but only listening on input as the track plays it will still jump, which is the most frustrating part. What do you mean by deleting all the info in the event list? ALL of it? won't that get rid of the notes that I want to keep?

5s Volume control issues

Anyone having volume control issues? My wife's 5s (less than a month old) is having issues with the up volume. If she mutes it using the down volume, it won't go back up. I can get it to work if I hold the volume a long time and it eventually comes back. Or last time i had to remove her case, hold the volume and release several times before it finally kicked in. Any thoughts or ideas? Thanks.

Please test in other computer to see if the issue persists, it may be caused by the bad output channel.

How to reduce the size of volume jumps

I love my itouch gen 5 but the size of the volume jumps annoy me. They are too large. On say 5 bars, the music is not loud enough, the next bar up, too loud.
I have found a simple solution (which didn't show up on google). Just go to settings, music, turn volume limit on, and set the slider to somewhere near the middle (as least this works for earpods). Now the volume increments are working to a much lower total volume and you get finer increments.
I thought this may only affect the standard music app but no, it seems system wide, including spotify.
Maybe I'm dumb not to figure this out earlier but anyway, thought I would share.

code... i had the same problem and i reproduced the search
portlet with a dynamic page, customizing my HTML and using the
categ. & perspective IDs of the original portlet. It works but
is not an elegant way to do this... i'm searching a better way
to do it. If you'll find, please let me know....

Plugging in Hauppauge HVR950Q tv tuner causes volume jump

I noticed bizarre behavior recently with my Hauppauge WinTV HVR 950Q USB tv tuner. If I plug it into my laptop (thinkpa x61) while music is playing, the volume jumps up to 69%. I've done it with alsamixer open, and sure enough, the master volume bar goes up. If I set the volume above 69% before plugging in the tuner, it gets pulled _down_ to 69%. Nothing happens when I unplug the tuner. Any idea what might cause this? Or how I could investigate?
It's not a problem, but seems like bizarre behavior.

Bluetooth volume jumps to 100% - Z3 + 5.0.2

Very odd problem - I have a Bluetooth receiver (Headset+A2DP profiles) in my car which works best with the Bluetooth volume set at ~50-60%. Sometimes my Z3 will remember the previous setting (and I've tried to force it with smart connect) but often, and every time when i fire google now, it will jump back up to 100%.
I can't find anywhere in the setting to lock the bluetooth volume (either for this particular device, or overall) and restarts and clearing the audio settings cache haven't had any effect. If anyone has come across simiar, and hopefully solved it, I'd appreciate some advice.

Unfortunately changing the Google Now settings had no effect. I tracked this app down which lets you set the Bluetoth volume separately and it now seems to be stable - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nightshadelabs.bluetoothvolume so hopefully this might help someone else if they have a similar issue.

Secured WebDAV Mounted Volume Authorization Issues

I use a secure WebDAV mounted volume from myDisk.se and up until the latest Security Update have had zero issues being able to manipulate files and folders as I would on a normal volume. However, since the installation of the Security Update (2009-004 (PowerPC) 1.0) I find weird things happening with this mounted volume:
1) I am able to mount the secured WebDAV share using my security credentials.
2) I can create a default "untitled" folder but when I try to change its name, the WebDAV authorization dialog pops up and despite entering the same credentials (why, I am not sure as the volume has already been properly credentialed in order to be mounted), access is denied.
3) Trying to create a file within a folder on the mounted WebDAV volume I previously created pre-update causes the same authorization issue.
I have no other WebDAV shares I can try to mount from any other companies so I am not sure if this is a myDisk issue or one borne from the Security Update. I am not a .Mac/MobileMe user and that info is not filled out in System Preferences. The internal hard drive has been meticulously maintained with Disk and Permissions repair being run both before and after each and every software update installed. Likewise, the volume's structure is also checked both before and after and shows no need for repairs.
Any ideas? Perhaps there is a corrupted file somewhere that's affecting the authorizations needed by this third-party WebDAV volume?
The machine that has this problem is the last model iBook G4/1.33GHz 12" display, 1.5GB RAM, and a 100GB 5400rpm HD which replaced the stock OEM 40GB 4200rpm drive about one year ago.
I'm not willing to do an Archive and Install at this point as the loss of the WebDAV access to my online volume is not critical. Inconvenient as heck but not to the point where I'm willing (or able) stop my normal work to spend the hours it will take to get WebDAV access back.

same problem here with webdav, I can't mount my idisk from university network on Mac Pro 10.5.3 (although it mounts fine from home network on both ibook and PMG5 10.5.3). Everything was fine with 10.5.2 and I already re-installed 10.5.3 combo. Other bugs as well with .Mac prefs (keeps crashing, sometimes it shows the available space on idisk but still no mounting, with error -35 or -8086), but .Mac sync is OK

Jumps issue

Hi All,
I having an issue in one of my reports. I am sure whether its an issue with jumps or particular variable.
Well here's the issue:
In the sender report( weekly report) I have "net gallons" being displyed for 4 weeks(week1, week2, week3, week4) in the current calender week(customer exit) and prior year calender week (set with an offset). So from this weekly report i make a jump to the daily report( receiver) wherein it has to display the "net gallons" for each day. For the current year and prior year. Now after make the jump the report shows me the values only for the current year(is a SAP exit) and does not show anything for the prior year(set with an offset- current year - 1).
Need help in solving this one.

Network Volume Permissions Issue

I am having a couple of issues with my "Data" external HD volume that I've setup as a poor-man's NAS (attached via USB to my AirPort Extreme)..
1. Lately I have been experimenting with the various media players for OS X and seeing which one works best for me (VLC, Perian + QT, and Plex). So I selected a random *.m2ts file (from a BD-rip) and then "Cmd + I" to "Get Info" for that movie. In the "Open With" drop-down menu I selected "Plex" (as Plex seems to do a better job streaming than VLC for this one particular mpeg stream file), and when I tried to change it to Plex, it reported that I could not change all files to open with such a program (which is what I was used to being able to do). I thought that was weird as I've always been able to "Change All" in the past. See screenshots for some visual cues.
As you can see below, it says "you have custom access," and I don't even have an option to "Ignore permissions on this volume"
I try to add a new user/owner, and I can't. Says "that name is not valid"
Then out of curiosity i tried to see if the subfolders in that volume are similarly jacked. yes they are!
I also noticed that I have read-only access, even if I am actually the "(unknown)" user that suppossedly has read/write abilities. Not sure if that is me or not. Now when I disconnect the "Data" volume from my Time Capsule and plug it in via USB to my MacBook, all is fine and dandy -- i can read/write, change permissions to whatever, ignore permissions on that volume, change default apps, etc.
It is almost like OS X doesn't realize that I an the owner of that external drive or something, so it tries to lock me out.
I tried some random "chown" terminal commands like the following, which i found browsing macrumors or something. Note that when I tried the second phrase, it said "chown: /Volumes/Data: Operation not permitted" Dang. So i think that this particular terminal sequence (which seems to have solved everyone else's problems in the past, will certainly not work for me). I even tried telling it that I am the "root" user, but I don't remember the command.
sudo chflags 0 /Volumes/Data
sudo chown 0:80 /Volumes/Data
sudo chmod 775 /Volumes/Data
sudo chmod -N /Volumes/Data

Any issues you guys can think of? I did clean install OS X AFTER I had originally created the USB volume "Data," but my username and everything should still be the same... I think maybe my computer name may have changed (necessary for a school thingy).
Help! I'd like to be able to write to the volume while it as attached to the network...

This fixes just the symptom.
The cause is driving me nuts.
Whenever there is a little network problem (out of hands because of ISP)...
I looses my Volumes, which is still somewhat acceptable.
What is not acceptable is, that spotlight and whatever apps mean to write something onto my shares and whenever they are not available new folders are added under /Volumes/ShareName and so fourth.
I am tired of fixing it manually.
Because when I reconnect to my shares they'd be added as /Volume/ShareName-1 then as ShareName has been created by Mac OS X natively for some Reason.
In the beginning I thought my Backupsoftware does that, or Amok Exif Sorter or whatever else Application... but shouldn't be the Standardprocedure for creating and writing data that if the folder is not found to interrupt with an exception/error or whatever.
I find it not a very amusing practise to clean up the Volumes Folder every now and then for it gets spammed with rogue mountpoints that are in reality just directories locally for the real share was missing at the time something tried to write to there...
Whenever I miss out that that happened data gets corrupted and I have to clean up the data massup by finding the differences amongst and getting the newest Version etc...
I've been reading a lot of people having this problem and everywhere is described how to clean up the mass but nowhere how or when to fix the issue that it starts with, I mean stopping Mac OS X to create duplicates on its own not being asked to do so....

Volume Control Issue (Satellite L505D-S5983)

So here's the issue:
Just recently I've started having problems using my volume control located next to the SD card reader slot.. You know, the volume 'slider'. It's been acting rather strangely, when I try to adjust my volume it doesn't change at all from the current volume percentage that it's at... Even when I'm sliding the slider. So then, I have to go into the manual volume in my hidden icons menu to change the volume. However, after I go through this step, I am then able to use my volume 'slider' control, and it actually works.
So, I'd like to know:
A) Why this is happening?
B) Am I able to fix this issue?
C) How would I fix this issue?

ITunes volume control issue?

Ever since I updated my Mac to iTunes 8.2.1 I've noticed that the volume control in iTunes is fixed on about 40% volume. I can drag the control up or down and it changes the volume but it snaps back to where it was when I let go. I can still change the volume on my Mac but it won't go as loud as it could. Any ideas?

I will do my best to assist you in the hopes of resolving the issue with the sound button. The steps that I would start of with first, would be to do a hard reset. I have included the document Performing a Hard Reset or Forced Reset.
If you are still experiencing the same issue, I would set the communication level to do nothing in the Playback devices option. I have included the steps below for you to follow.
1. Right click on the Sound icon in the System Tray
2. Click on Playback devices
3. Click on Communications
4. Click on Do nothing
5. Click Apply, and close the Window
The next step to do if you are still experiencing the same issue, would be to perform a clean boot on your Split. I have included the document Using Microsoft System Configuration (Windows 8). See if following these steps you are still experiencing the issue.
Please let me know the outcome of these troubleshooting steps.

IPod Nano 6th Generation Volume Button Issue

The "-" volume button on my iPod Nano 6th generation is stuck in the "on" or depressed position against the case. It looks like the button either is binding against the case, or a spring-like mechanism beneath the button is broken.
Any ideas on how to fix the issue short of taking it in for a service appointment? Maybe by opening the case?

SAP BEST PRACTISE BI-Purchasing Volume Dashboard issue

I am working on Purchasing Volume Dashboard (from SAP BEST PRACTISE BI package), I adapted Crystal Reports sources of this dashboard so that they connect to our local database and successfully generated the Export.xls, I Imported this Export.xls file into Purchasing Volume Dashboard.xls, added and configured Live Office Connections (ticking"Refresh before components are loaded" for each Live Connections.
The issue is that when I click on PREVIEW the four components (Charts and Scorecard) don't refresh simultaneously.
I have to click once on REFRESH button to have the first component refreshed with data then to click again to have the second component refreshed then click again and again !
I don't understand why those components don't refresh in the same time !!
Did one of you ever encountered this issue ?

Hi,
Make sure your web service URL correct in Live Office connection and also in Xcelsius data manager.
Did you check all connection in refresh button proprties? you may try selecting "Refresh after component are Loaded" in Refresh button properties Behavior tab.
I think Xcelsius refresh are serial refresh so it may be possible that first component refresh is still in progress but you are expecting other component to refresh.
Click on "Enable Load Cursor" in data manager's Usage tab, it will give you visibility of refresh. If anything refreshing you will see hour glass.
