Volume levels on IPod Classic

I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but the early generation IPods I have had all played music louder in my cars than the later version Nanos, IPhones, ITouches, etc.  I know this because with my Gen 2 IPod Classic (wasn't called Classic then) I listened to my music at volume level 48 and it played as loud as I like it.  With my IPhone, ITouches and Video Nanos, I turn it up to 58 and it's still not as loud as the Classic.  And, yes, I have the sound limiter all the way up, and I have kept sound check settings cosntant.  Were the early Classics known for reproducing louder sound vo

How do I get the volume on my ipod classic to the same level for all songs?  Some songs are a lot lower than others.

Coverflow in iTunes is sorted by Album Artist whereas coverflow on the iPod classic is sorted by Artist. Unfortunately, there is no way to set this on your iPod. This is such a fumble on Apple's part that I'm beginning to think they're becoming another Microsloth with buggy firmware and products.

  • Increasing volume levels from Ipod

I have loads of AAC & MP3 files loaded on my Ipod but the volume levels are too low when played through the car AUX is there a way to increase the volumes before or after they download to the Ipod.

If you boost the volume of the songs in iTunes, you must then sync the iPod to iTunes once again in order to reflect the changes. If you have done this and still cannot hear a difference, then there is something amiss.
Same with iPod Volume Boost. It matters not that the iPod was manufactured for the European market, it should works with all iPods.
It work with two iPods in our family that were purchased in the USA.

  • SAME VOLUME LEVELS ON IPOD MINI...

Is there in any way transferred music from itunes to ipod be played on the same volume level?..my itunes plays it in all on the same level but when i transfer it ipod it changes...
    thanks for any help guys...
    :>

The question is how does the iPod Mini play songs at the same volume - in other words how do you avoid having to turn the ipod up and down when playing files back as some songs will be played back louder than others.
iTunes has a facility called 'Soundcheck' which adjusts song playback levels so that all songs are the same volume. The iPod does not seem to have this facility and it can be annoying.
Any help with this issue would be appreciated

  • Volume levels in iPod...

    Hi all.
I'm having some volume issues with my iPod. Within iTunes, I have the Sound Check enabled, but when songs are played on my iPod the songs are in fact not at the same level. What gives?
This is very annoying because I usually go to bed with music playing through my iPod (and a set of speakers). Some songs are 'low' so I turn the volume up, but when a song comes on that has a 'higher' level it gets real loud and makes a peacful transistion to sleep difficult .
Anyone have any ideas what I'm doing wrong or what setting I'm not using to truly achieve a consitent level of volume on all songs?
    Thanks in advance.

    I'm sorry Chris, I misunderstood...
You're probably right, I don't think I have Sound Check enable on the iPod (i thought you meant within iTunes) Let me check and I'll let you know.
    Thanks.

  • How do I increase volume for my iPod in the iTunes settings? (Classic 160g)

I need help adjusting the volume on my iPod Classic 160GB. I know there's a way to go into iTunes with the iPod connected to the computer and adjust, but when my iTunes updated to version 11.0 I have no idea how to do it. Any help would be appreciated.

iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
In iTunes 11 use Control+B to show the Menu bar then go to iTunes>File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
For other music yo need a thrid-party program like one of those discussed here:

  • Inconsistent volume levels

I have an 80gig classic and playback of mp3's are usually very quiet compared to other ipods (previous gen 30gig) and the volume levels are all over the place. I have normalized all my files and I have no problems with itunes playback, also the volume check didn't change anything. Any ideas or suggestions for a fix would be appreciated.

There are 3rd party programs that do this more effectively (at least in my opinion).
    For Windows there is mp3/aacGain.
Many people have commented on the fact that the overall volume of the iPod Classic is noticeably quieter than older models.

  • Can't reduce iPod Classic's volume

I have just bought my first iPod (classic model, 80GB) and I'm experiencing a lot of problems for adjusting it's volume. The minimum default volume seems to be set at a really loud level, so I can't reduce it or silence it at any time, it only lets me increase it even more. Does anybody know how can I solve this before my head explodes?

I have a problem kind of like this. I am able to lower the volume but it seems that after a certain point the volume bar will keep going down but the volume levels off. I can never get it to go completely silent like my previous ipods. So when I'm at work or in the library, it can be loud than I'd like it to be and I can't get it to drop any more.
My only suggestion is to leave feedback and hope something happens http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipod.html or return it because it sounds like your click wheel may have been faulty.

  • IPod Classic 160GB audio still there even at zero volume

    Hi there,
Unfortunately I haven't found any topic here that's dealing with my problem on the first gen 160GB iPod Classic. Yesterday I realized that there's something wrong with its volume control. Even when I shift down the volume to zero there's still audio hearable (no matter if it's an audiobook, music, a podcast or a video clip) there at a fairly decent volume level (not nearly close to the sound level of whispering, by far louder).
First I tried to do a Hardware Reset on the iPod but this didn't help me a bit - the problem is still there.
So, I put all my hopes in that forum - actually I prefer listening to my audio books on a really low volume but that's not really possible right now...
    Greetings from Austria,
    Stefan

Same here! Please Apple, fix this issue in the next update! This should be no problem I think!

  • Sound check (volume leveling) not working newest ipod

    Dear Apple community,
Thank you for your help with this problem.
I am extremely disappointed with my new iPod. I have been using iPods for 15 years. Many years ago I solved the problem with volume leveling by using a fantastic program called iVolume. I have over 25,000 songs (collected over 20 years) in my music library and I have never had a problem with the different sound levels when I play them back through my various Ipods and Iphones over the years.
Unfortunately when I recently purchased the latest generation of iPod I quickly found out that volume leveling no longer works.   The discrepancy in the sound playback is most apparent when I use the bluetooth connection but is also present even when I play through the audio jack.  I have tried turning sound check on and off, and have done a complete reboot of my ipod, and have not seen any difference.
Any help with this problem would be most appreciated.
    Sincerely,

  • Line level dock for ipod classic

In trying to figure out the best way to connect my ipod classic to my small Denon 30w stereo I've been experimenting. I have an old Apple branded dock I found in a drawer from 2004 when I bought my first Ipod, a 20g 2nd generation Ipod, the first one that came with the clickwheel. It has a line level output in the back, and it seems to work fine with the classic, as a matter of fact, with the Ipods volume and the stereos volume at the same levels it is at least 30-40% louder (and clearer) than using the typical headphone jack connection. But the line level plug on this dock is a little fidgety, bump it and one speaker goes out, you have to jiggle and/or twist the cable just so to recover, obvously it's a loosened connection inside the jack...so I go to Best Buy and get an offbrand dock that comes with a remote that was on clearance (it's a clone of Apples universal dock), it has a line level out as well, looks very much the same as the Apple dock. I assumed that a line level dock from any brand would be the same, since its sending a clean unamplified signal to the stereo (isn't it?), however the quality of the audio coming from this dock was about equal or even worse than the headphone jack, I really have to crank the volume on the stereo to get the same sound, and it just doesnt sound as good. I was surprised, I didnt think there was a lot going on in these docks, just routing the ipods signal to the stereo. Am I wrong here? Will springing $60 for Apples universal dock be the best option?

I connected my ipod classic to my maranz av receiver by apple dock. For best sound it is crucial to connect by dock input not audio out (earphones) ! For that i use apple component AV cable.

  • We have a new iPod  Classic and would like some help in choosing "Import Settings" (under Peferences) when loading the iPod from the Mac.  We want to be sure that we can maintain a constant sound level.  Used with Bose sound dock. OS 10.6.8 iTunes 10.6.1.

Using an iPod Classic on a Bose sound dock....when loading the iPod from the Mac, what  "Import Settings" (under iTune "Preferences"),  should be used to maintain a constant sound level when playing music?  Mac OS 10.6.8, iTunes 10.6.1.
There are many Import Settings available and it is somewhat confusing.  Any suggestions?

Go to iTunes>Preferences>Playback. Tick "Sound Check."

  • My 10G iPod-Volume Levels Erratic + Freezing...HELP!

Admittedly, I have a 3 year old 10G iPod. But I'd prefer to getting it working well if I can instead of junking it for a new model. We've been through a lot together...ha ha
The problem with mine is that the volume levels jump in-between songs pretty often. I will be listening to it on the bus and then suddenly a new song will start at a mind-numbingly LOUD level, even though I have not touched the pad. At first I attributed it to how albums are randomly mastered at different volume levels, but I generally make a point to equalize them before loading onto the iPod. I also have the sound check function clicked ON.
Anyone heard of this problem? any suggestions?
It will also freeze playing occasionally, even though the song timer continues to play out. I'd say this happens every 20 songs or so. What's that about?
Should I try to revert back to factory settings? Or should I just throw in the towel?

Hi, i bought my Ipod touch 8g last week, now, when i play my music ( without earphones ) the volume is very low even though it is on full, in fact its pretty useless, it was much louder, has anyone got any ideas please? Thanks.
    Maureen.

  • Why is the volume level different from song to song in iTunes & on iPod?

When I play back songs in iTunes and most of all on my iPod the volume level is different depending what songs I am listing to. The biggest problem is with the songs that I get from my CD’s because the volume is very low. Why does this happen and can I fix it? Thanks, Robert

iTunes uses a feature called "SoundCheck" to attempt to equalize playback volume. There are actually 3 Sound Checks: 1 is for iTunes playback (set in Preferences), 1 is for iTunes burning (set on the Burn Disc dialog), and 1 is for iPod playback (in iPod Settings).
Make sure they are all enabled.
They are far from perfect, but they should help.
