Volume Logic or iVolume for iPod??

I cannot get the latest version of iTunes (7.3.1) and the iPod (3.1.1) software to share the Options/Volume Adjustment information for each song in my music library. Since the Sound Check feature is mediocre at best and annoying at worst, I've turned it off and have spent many hours going through my 3,000+ iTunes music library, manually adjusting the levels using true VU meters. When I sync with the iPod, it seems that this information gets transferred, but it gets corrupted, and iTunes volume setting changes are magnified (sometimes by a huge margin!) on the iPod with even worse results! Third party vendors like Volume Logic make a plug in for iTunes that helps maintain consistent levels in iTunes only. So does iVolume. Obviously, for everyone who listens to their iPod in shuffle mode (a majority of iPod owners), this is a huge deal. As far as I know Apple hasn't done anything to fix this; I would think it would be relatively easy to at least make it so that the Volume Adjutment settings in iTunes get transferred to the iPod. Is there any fix in beta, or is there a workaround? I'm afraid to even go down this road on the iPhone! Thx.

Hi,
I have had the same problem.
I tried using Sound Check but was well aware not to expect too much knowing that it only appears to store the peak value rather than the average. (I would use iVolume, but it isn't available for Windows yet.) Anyhow, the result was certainly better than not using Sound Check. Then I set about making adjustments to those tracks that were still too loud or quiet. While they sounded fine in iTunes when I synched to the iPod the adjustments had been hugely exagerated. (Tracks that had been given a 'negative' gain were extremely quiet and those give a 'positive' gain were extremely loud.) I was able to correct the problem by dividing the Volume Adjustment value that seemed fine in iTunes by a factor of 7 to get the volume about right in the iPod. Why 7? Well it was simply that I found that there are 7 clicks between the large divisions on the volume slider. So if I had a setting of one large division of Boost or Cut on the slider, I then just scaled that down one minimum increment on the slider. This made it a quick job to go through the 20 or so songs I had to trim with not much time to spare before the party.
Of course now the levels are not right when played for iTunes. So it is still an annoying bug!
How do I go about reporting a 'bug' to Apple?
Thanks

  • Volume Logic for Mac iTunes

Does anyone have pro's & con's concerning Plantronics Volume Logis for Mac iTunes? I'm looking for plug-ins that would enhance the iTunes sound quality.
    Thanks,
    Michael

iVolume claims to work with iTunes' Sound Check to play songs at the same volume. The iVolume FAQ says the adjustment will carry over to burned CDs & iPods, too. It will not work on Music Store downloads due to DRM.
I've read people on this forum say it works pretty well.

  • For all those that use the Volume Logic plug-in with iTunes

Volume Logic has updated their website www.volumelogic.com that they are aware of the issue with the plug-in not working with iTunes 7.o for both Mac and Windows versions. They are working on a fix. (thank God! as normal iTunes audio *****!)

There's also a really useful blog article that summarizes how you can tweak the new layout: http://blogs.skype.com/2014/11/13/getting-to-grips-with-the-2014-skype-layout/

  • VOLUME LOGIC FOR MAVERICKS

As many of you out there i love Volume Logic, so with Mavericks on my IMac i couldn't run it. But there's a solution i've come across while looking for an alternative.
I MUST STATE THAT THIS IS NOT MY WORK I'VE JUST FOUND IT ON THE WEB AND IT WORKS
    1) Run Audio Hijack Pro and select iTunes as the source input application in the left-hand side of the main window.
    2) In the AHP pull-down menu, select About Plugins
    3) In the window that pops-up, select Load and navigate to where the VolumeLogic plugin resides, that would be HD>Library>Audio>Plugins>HAL>VolumeLogic. Do not worry about loading the iTea resource file manually, it will load up automatically, you do not have to do Show Package Contents to resolve this. Just select VL from where it lives in the plugins folder and move on to the next step.
    4) Go back to AHP and in the main window select an empty effects slot, in the pull-down sub-menu that appears simply select iTea effect>Volume Logic.
    5) Hit hijack in AHP and enjoy Volume Logic again, in Mavericks.
    ENJOY

Volume Logic is one of my MUST-HAVE pieces of software. I really wish someone would just re-package the core audio technology and make it available again-- I'd pay $100 for it, if it worked in the latest versions of OS X!
But alas... We resort to constant workarounds....
I just tried this on my iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2), and I hit a snag in step #4... I see no "iTea" or "Volume Logic" anywhere in AHP's effects window pull-down sub-menu... it's just not "simply appearing."
You say you found this on the web... Can you direct me to it?
    Thanks for any help!

  • Volume limiter for ipod shuffle?

Have been reading about Apple introducing a user-definable volume limiter for ipod nano's and fifth gen ipod's.
Anyone know if this software is going to be made available for ipod shuffle's? (You could adjust the settings for it from within itunes)
    Toshiba laptop   Windows XP

I doubt it because the shuffle doesn't have a screen. You should send Apple your feedback if you really feel that you need to be heard!

I have the portable BOSE sound dock and after updating my ipod to ios7 the remote control of the dock only works for the volume but doesnt work for skipping songs....Is there a solution to this?

Have you went to Bose"s support site?
    Sometimes this works
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
However, sometimes an iOS update breaks compatibility and you will have to wait for an firmware update for the Bose or an iOS update.

  • Comparison for iPod Users: Free Online Converter & DVD to iPod Converter

Compare two channels of obtaining video sources for iPod: one is using online converter, the other is DVD to iPod Converter. After the general introduction of the two methods, I will analyze their advantages and disadvantages for you to choose according to your need.
Part One: Enjoy YouTube (online videos) on iPod
Instruction: a useful website to convert online video freely: http://www.vixy.net/
For vixy, you can just copy the URL of the online video into the “URL” blank of the vixy, then choose the format you want to convert to. Click “Start”. For a short time, the conversion will be finished. You can click the “Download the converted video” to restore the file.
    http://www.aiseesoft.com/images/guide/vixy.jpg
Advantages: Free online video converter. No software to install. Only a few clicks you can get the converted file after a short while. The most important thing is that online video sources are numerous and original, so you can get the first-hand sources in time through it. Some personal DVs are also shared with you.
Disadvantages: They set limitation of the length and size of the video. The classical movies usually are not on line available. Even if existed, the quality of image and sound is inferiors.
Part Two: Enjoy DVD movies on iPod Touch, iPod Nano, iPod Classic, iPhone, iPhone (3G), Apple TV
We usually bought classical DVD movies for collection or regular watching later, but DVD cannot be copied directly into iPod for us to appreciate it at anytime and anywhere. On this occasion, we need to convert DVD to the format, video and audio settings (Resolution, Bitrate, Frame Rate, etc) supported by your iPod player.
Instruction: the way to convert DVD to iPod: using Aiseesoft DVD to iPod Converter http://www.aiseesoft.com/dvd-to-ipod-converter.html
Install and run Aiseesoft DVD to iPod Converter
    http://www.aiseesoft.com/download/dvd-to-ipod-converter.exe
    http://www.aiseesoft.com/images/guide/screen.gif
Step 1: Click “Load DVD” button to import your DVD
Step 2: Use “Profile” drop-down list to choose your output format.
Step 3: Click “Settings” for setting your video parameters.
At last click “Start” button to start your conversion.
    More tips:
    1. Merge into One File
If you want to merge the selected contents into one file you can check the "Merge into one file" option. As default the merged file is named after the first selected file (either a title or a chapter)
    2. Movie Effect
You can set the brightness, contrast, saturation of the video and volume of the audio.
    3. Trim Movie
It can help you to capture the segment of your movie.
    http://www.aiseesoft.com/images/guide/dvd-to-ipod-thread-trim.jpg
    4. Crop Video
You can remove black edge of your DVD movie and get any playing area of the video by using its "Crop Mode" function. You can also select "Zoom Mode" to extrude your video slightly to adjust to your portable devices so you can get the best video quality.
    http://www.aiseesoft.com/images/guide/dvd-to-ipod-thread-crop.jpg
    5. Take Snapshot
It allows you to capture your favorite pictures from your movie.
Advantages: In this way, you can make full use of your DVD: not only in DVD player, but your iPod player. The function of effecting and trimming allows you to clip the segment of the DVD movies complying with your will. You can enjoy more movies taking full advantage of your spare time while relaxing or traveling.
Disadvantages: DVD movies are usually popular, lacking of individualization. You can not share others' DVs.
With these two ways, we can enjoy the pleasure videos bring to us as much as we like. Have fun!

Depending on what update your iPod is, you may need
to dowload YAMB to make sure the videos play well on
your iPod. If you are watching a converted video on
your iPod and it freezes suddenly and this problem
continues, you need to download YAMB and convert the
files already converted with videora iPod converter
with YAMB, this will only take a few minutes.
I hope this helps you out.
Nope. All that a person with that problem should have to do is just update their iPod firmware to 1.1.1 with the newest updater, as that issue has been resolved in the latest firmware.

  • Remote for iPod

    Hi there.
I've bought the Apple Universal Dock for iPod with Apple Remote, and I wanna to know if there is any way to use this remote with the Remote app.
    Thx all.
    Obs.: I'm a PC user

    Hi,
The menu button works with the new iMac:
    b Apple Remote with Mac
Included with the new iMac G5, the Apple Remote gives you total command of your music, photos, videos and DVDs from anywhere in the room. It combines with Front Row — a menu-driven, full-screen interface — to make accessing your iMac's digital bounty from any seat in the room as simple as navigating your iPod. When you click the Apple Remote's
    b Menu button
, your desktop fades and Front Row's sleek interface takes its place to give you control over your music in iTunes, your photos in iPhoto, the videos in your Movies folder and whatever DVDs you want to play. Turn up the volume. Shuffle. Skip to the next chapter on your DVD. Play a slideshow, a home movie you made in iMovie, even a movie trailer. Just sit back and enjoy the show.
    Regards,

  • Speakers/charging dock combo for iPod Nano?

I have a 3rd party home speaker dock, which works as a speaker, but didn't realize that the new Nanos don't let 3rd party stuff work as chargers. When the Nano is connected it says "charging is not supported with this accessory".
What are my options in terms of docks that would both charge the Nano, and work as a good set of speakers (with good volume)?

    larselarsen wrote:
Unfortunatly Apple are not being precise nor correct in their information regarding which systems work (charges) the Ipod Nano G4 ....
There are literally hundreds if not thousands of accessories not made by Apple that claim some level of iPod compatibility. It is impossible for Apple to supply comprehensive data about which ones work with which (if any) iPods. Newer products sporting Apple's "Made for iPod" logo indicate that the manufacturer (not Apple) certifies that it meets Apple's specifications for iPod compatibility, but that does not necessarily mean it supports all features with all iPod models, especially charging the Nano 4G, & latest iPod Touch & iPhone models.
Some accessory manufacturers now specifically list which iPod models each of their products supports in product literature, at their websites, or on the packaging. If so, be sure to check for any fine print or footnotes to make sure all the features work with a particular model! If you can't find this info, your best bet is to buy a product from a vendor with a good return policy or contact the manufacturer directly & request specific, detailed compatibility info.
Note: there is a lot of confusion about the "Made for iPod" logo. To display it, a manufacturer must pay Apple a fee & sign a non-disclosure agreement to get access to the technical details that ensure compatibility with current iPods & timely notifications of changes in the specifications that might affect compatibility with future models. Apparently, notifications about the changes to the charging specs went out to participants quite some time ago, perhaps as early as 2005, but very few accessory makers have done anything about it until now. Of course, non-participants have always reverse-engineered their products for compatibility without Apple's help, so it is probable that they knew nothing until the new iPod models were on retailers' shelves.
Complicating things even more, some manufacturers market both newer & older versions of some products under the same model name, or just slightly change the model name (like with a "II" suffix).
The bottom line is "newer is better" but is in itself no guarantee that the accessory will charge the Nano 4G.

  • Full Hebrew language for iPod

    Hello.
Me and my friends made Hebrew support for the iPod.
It contains FULL menus in Hebrew and support for Hebrew songs.
We made it instead of the Norwegian language, but it compatible with every iPod (of course, not Shuffle ).
We are willing to sell it to Apple, but we dont publish it for free and at all (rights viloation and stuff).
We made it by hacking to the logic drive of the iPod (34 mega bytes, "invisible").
    write me what u think

    bro
i mentioned it - Yeda cant do what we did, they just did songs support (songs in hebrew are visible, and invisible in the regualr firmware) and just it.
we support songs and even the menus are in hebrew
and its a copyright vilation sooooo.......i dont distribut it

  • Why is the max volume so low on my ipod 6th gen

why is the max volume so low on my ipod 6th gen

Well, my volume control certainly does influence the start up chime and I cannot see why yours shouldn't.   Use keyboard buttons F11 and F12 to adjust your sound level last thing at night and if your machine auto starts in the morning it will not wake the household.
True, if volume control is turned down to a lower level, you would have to adjust it for other sound output that you do want later, iTunes and videos on browsers etc, but it requires little effort.

  • Volume Logic 1.3.2 and Leopard work-around

I found a good work-around that got VL 1.3.2 working under Leopard.
I found the "fix" at Veerle's blog...
    http://veerle.duoh.com/blog/comments/nomore_volume_logicupdate/
Here's the summary so that you don't have to jump to another site...
    Quit iTunes
Download iWOW (updated for Leopard) Demo and install - http://www.srs-store.com/store-plugins/mall/iwow-plugin.asp
Quit iTunes or dont start iTunes....
Drag the iWOW plugin out of /Library/Audio/Plug-ins/HAL/ to the desktop
Ctrl Click iWOW plugin (show package contents)
Goto Contents/MacOS/ (you should see iTea.)
Ctrl Click VolumeLogic plugin (show package contents)
Goto Contents/MacOS/ (you should see iTea.)
Replace the iTea located in the Volume Logic plugin with the one from iWOW on the desktop.
This was all I needed to do, since I was able to activate VL without a problem. If you get an activation error from eSellerate, try the following...
Download the Latest eSR SDK - http://webvise.mindvision.com/pub/mac/eSellerateEmbeddedSDK.dmg
Mount the eSellerate Embedded SDK and look in the "eSellerate Libs" folder for "EWSMacCompress.tar.gz"
    Go to /Library/Audio/Plug-ins/HAL/VolumeLogic.plugin
Ctrl click and choose "Show Package contents" and open the folder "Resources"
Replace the "EWSMacCompress.tar.gz" with the one from the eSR SDK dmg you just mounted

In one of my projects I used a third-party Jar-file. I placed it into the code/jars directory of my SAP BC package.
The "original" mail.jar resides in sapbc47/Server/lib. Ever tried to replace it with the newer one ?

it is not giving me any errors, no amber lights.

  • Volume Logic Removal on Itunes

Hello everyone this is my first post to the forum so hopefully this is in the right spot. Okay so here's my problem. I downloaded volume logic a while back and it worked great for quite a while but now when I open my itunes the "Volume Logic Extended Demo" box comes up and has three options: 1) Extended Demo, 2)Activate with Serial Number, 3)Buy Now. Alright so when I try to select any of these three options nothing happens and the box remains on the screen not allowing me to do anything within itunes. Basically I can no longer use my itunes because of volume logic so I obviously want to remove it from my mac. Now to the next problem, I've searched volume logic on my finder and deleted every file related to the program and its still on my itunes. This is getting pretty frustrating, so I was wondering if any of you all had some suggestions, walkthroughs on what to do, etc. Please let me know! I appreciate your help!

  • Need cookbook for iPod environmental cover task

    Folks:
My aim is to have my iPod Nano 1st Gen do this job: Play some "cover" noise as steadily and gaplessly as possible so I can listen and sleep through the night in some noisy hotels, etc.
I'm a computer professional with access to standard Mac tools (GarageBand, Final Cut Express), but I have no idea how to do this, and maybe my terminology isn't very good, either. Can someone point me to a cookbook and/or tell me how to do this in reasonably small steps, please?
Starting with a CD of that contains 1 hour of environmental sounds (rain), I want to isolate the "best" (most steady) rain segment --probably about 15 minutes-- and splice it together as seamlessly as possible. Transfer the result to my iPod and play in "repeat" mode.
I'm told that the "stock" 1st Gen iPod can't do gapless playback. OK, if so, is it possible to adjusting the gap to be minimal? Using fades to minimize the effect of gaps? (Experiments show full-volume to silence to full-volume is NOT good for sleeping!) It's also OK to minimize gaps by recording longer segments. Experiments seem to indicate a practical 30 minutes length limit on segments for Garage Band. That's not enough. I'm willing to devote a significant portion of my iPod storage to this purpose, ideally one 8 hour segment. Even 2 hour segments would be decent.
Variations: If there's an alternative source for high quality rain noise, I'd like to hear about it. As long as I'm wishing out loud, the most restful noise I can imagine is steady, hard rain on a metal or plastic roof. I have a Mac program that will play white or pink noise on the audio output, and that's pretty decent cover noise, but I don't know of a way of piping the output to anything usable to get it to the iPod.
    TIA,
    Henry
