Volume on earpiece?

hello, does anyone know how to adjust the volume on the ear piece? I tried the volume keys to the left of the phone but those keys seem to only control the volume of the ringer and not the ear piece.

I don't know if you have resolved this issue with the help of the last post but if the problem is with receiving calls with the earbuds and not iPod volume then this thread from OLI R C might help you.
"It's also worth noting that the volume buttons control different volumes, depending on what you are doing at the time.
Adjusting volume while not in a call will adjust ringer volume. You must be in a call to adjust call (earpiece) volume, and you must be in a call AND be using the speaker phone, to adjust speaker volume.
Each setting stays where you leave it."

  • Volume in earpiece not working. Volume buttons work as can adjust volume and is set yo max. I haven't left the protective screen cover on.

Earpiece volume has gone very low when using iPhone. Have to switch to external speaker to hear caller, everything else is working ok. Ear phones are working fine and they are not staying registered when they are removed. Also I haven't suddenly gone deaf. Any ideas.

Snap. I'm having to restrain myself from smashing it to smithereens, such is my lack of control and anger.
The reason - this is my THIRD replacement iPod 4G 40gb, delivered on 21/5 (I have been without it for a month - unnaceptable, even coming from China, and with laser engraving). Right from kick-off it is doing this with the click wheel. I have just opened the box as my wife went into labour on the day of delivery, and this has been the first moment I've had since the arrival of our boy.
Apart from the click wheel nonsense, the hard drive sounds like a hair-dryer, and the build quality is absolutely disgusting - the white facia is mismatched significantly from the back and you could shave with it in extremis. The click wheel has a 'shadow' round the left curve and has been so badly fitted all the buttons below 'rattle'
In the seven months since initial purchase, I've been without it for two. I'm going straight on the phone to Apple in the morning to demand a refund and compensation.
I'm typing this on my Powerbook - the third incarnation. Is there no quality control in Apple's Chinese operation?

  • Nokia X2-00 with low volume in earpiece

My Nokia x2-00 became with low volume when in conversations. I have pressed the volume keys to the max, but still the volume is very low.
Any suggestions? Will a firmware update fix this?
    Thanks,
    Pedro

    hi mate,
Have you checked via Nokia Suite on your PC if there are any firmware updates available for your device? IF there is, please update to the latest version offered. If that doesn't work, you can try re-installing your current firmware through Nokia Suite and if that doesn't work either, try Restoring your phone to factory settings.
Failing that, you will need to take your phone to your local Nokia Care for them to inspect: http://nokia.com/support

  • Do you experience low volume from the calling party in phone calls?

I have my iPhone for about 9 days now. Prior to yesterday, I did not experience any problem with the volume.
What' happening is this: when a caller calls in, the volume of the caller is so small, that I really can't hear at all! It is annoying as I receive calls from clients. And I had to look for another phone to call back the any callers, or turn on my speaker. These solutions are temporary. I had tried increasing the "ringer" volume to maximum, using the controls on the top left side of the iPhone. Still the volume was so soft. Prior to yesterday, the caller's volume was loud and clear! I suspect something went wrong with my soundcard, or something. I off and on my iPhone, but it does not solve the problem.
I wonder if others faced the same problem? And any ways I can rectify the problem?

The earpiece volume for phonecalls on my 3GS has been weak since day 1. I have the volume for earpiece calls set to full and it is still hard to hear the person on the other end unless I am in a really quiet room. It shouldn't be like this... max volume should be too loud to use 95% of the time, if you are using any device at max anything it indicates that the device was underspecified... do you drive your car at redline on the tach all the time? No, it is just for very rare occassions when you really need to outrun a tornado...

  • Earpiece Always Going Silent

My iPhone very often gets stuck in the headphone mode. I will pull out the headphones, the phone will ring (audibly), but no volume in earpiece. I can switch to speaker and hear the call. When I play the music or Podcast I cannot hear the speaker. Turning the volume up and down, I can see it thinks I'm adjusting the headphones which ar not plugged in. I can usually get it back by resetting, but no such luck tonight.
Any suggestions on why this is happening?
    Thanks,
    Steve

I just solved my problem. I did some research and found this video:
    http://www.luckow.com/iphone/
It involves a Q-tip and Windex. I used the Windex only and my earpiece was back. Apparently debris gets in there. I had tried compressed air, but that did not work. So, please pass this tip around for future reference. It's amazing how tied you get to these devices. I was in a frenzy as i kept getting call after call and I'm someone who is definitely a cell phone light weight.
    Thanks.

  • Has anyone had this issue????

My mother's Gusto will make calls and receive calls. However, there is no sound during the calls. When I checked the volume, the "earpiece" volume pops onscreen but she has never used an earpiece. Is there a magical way to fix this problem? Thanks for any help offered

Are you trying to adjust the volume during the call? I know that's how my old flip phone worked to adjust the call volume during the call. It might be labeled earpiece volume because it is referring to the speaker that is placed next to the user's ear.

  • Lumia 620 Earpiece Volume

dear all, i found that my lumia 620 earpiece volume is very low/soft. i can hardly hear what the other party is talking. volume is at max. any solution to this?
listening to music is ok. this problem only occur when making/receiving phone calls..

When your in call ensure the volume is at max not just the ringer tone.
Alternatively you can reset device if you wish.
If your phone is unresponsive, or it gets stuck showing Nokia logo, then try this: Press and hold both the Volume down and the Power keys for 15 seconds. This should get your phone to restart properly again. If this does not help, then follow next steps to perform OS reset.
Warning: Resetting your phone will return it to the same state it was in the first time you turned it on. All your personal content in the phone, including text messages and apps that you been purchased and downloaded (may be re-downloaded again) will be erased, and the phone will be restore to the factory settings.
Here are two options to follow, depending on whether you can access your phone's Settings screen or not.
    Option 1: About menu
Use this option if you can access your phone's settings.
This option warns about data loss.
On the Start screen, swipe left, select Settings > About > Reset your phone.
    Option 2: Hardware key combination
Use this option if you forget or lose the password.
Use this option if the phone fails to fully switch on when pressing the power on key.
Note: No warning about data loss!
Nokia Lumia with Windows Phone 8
    Step 1
Make sure the charger is disconnected.
    1. Switch the power Off.
    2. Press and hold the Volume down and connect the charger, if succeed an exclamation mark (!) is shown on the screen.
    Step 2
Then input Keys in the following order:
    1. Volume up
    2. Volume down
    3. Power
    4. Volume down
    Step 3
The phone will reset and boot up automatically. Please note that this may take several minutes.
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

  • Slight earpiece distortion at 80~100% volume?

Hey all, I've noticed a slight bit of distortion from the earpiece at the louder volumes, there is absolutely no static or any other type of sounds made by the earpiece, except when you get it up past 85 or 85 percent volume the sound gets a little scratchy sounding. Anyone else notice anything like this on your iPhones? Thanks.

I went down to the Verizon store today, and I noticed that all the display iPhones when making a test call sounded more muffled than my iPhone, as if mine had a lot of gain. Which my call clarity is crystal clear, but a very slight distortion at times over 80%. I guess not every one is the same, and its definetly not something thats a big deal. I've had MANY smartphones now, and this iPhone blows them all out of the water. Best purchase I've made in a while thats for sure.

  • Iphone 4s earpiece volume problem

So my 4s was working great, with no battery issues but now my earpiece volume has dropped so low I can hardly hear it. It did this randomly. No Siri use prior to it happening. I tried changing languages to reset the springboard and also a hard rest which didn't help. I just wanted to see if there is something I should try before going in for a new phone.

Make sure you remove the transparent plastic screen cover the iPhone ships with prior to making appointment to get replacement.

  • Really need some help with this low earpiece volume issue.

I'm taking my iPhone to an Apple Store Genius tomorrow to check out the low volume in the earpiece. Has anyone else taken their phone in to an Apple Store and had the issue addressed? Are Geniuses just saying it is within spec? Has Apple published an article on this?
I realize that people are also frustrated over the low speakerphone volume, but the low volume in the earpiece is particularly concerning.
While traveling down the road it is very difficult to hear the person on the other end of the phone when using just the earpiece (no earbuds, no BT headset). The volume while using the earbuds is plenty loud.
Can anyone please shed some new light on this? I have had my iPhone for one week and I've got a bad feeling in my gut that this is a hardware issue and the earpiece speaker can't go any louder. Bummer.
(Obviously, all of my volume settings are maxed out).
    -Joe

When the iPhones were first released, some people reported on their posts that they were able to take them to the Genius Bar, have a tech test it out, the tech would agree that the volume sounded low, and get their phone swapped right away. Unfortunately, there is no cut and dry answer because people have reported all sorts of different things- that the various software updates have fixed their volume, messing with the volume setting within iTunes, etc.
Personally, I think it is a software glitch. Why? I did this: I was playing the iPod without the earbuds and the volume was only set midrange. I covered the speaker on the bottom, cranked up the volume, and the sound coming out of the receiver was MUCH louder than it ever is when I am using the iPhone on a call. That to me indicates that the low volume it just a glitch that can be fixed, because it CAN obviously sound louder, just within a different function. Hope that makes sense.
    Good luck tomorrow.

  • How do you adjust the earpiece volume on my 5s, the   button has no effect? Is it as I suspect, the phone is faulty or am I missing a trick somewhere?

How do you adjust the earpiece volume on my 5s, the   button has no effect? Is it as I suspect, the phone is faulty or am I missing a trick somewhere?

    Thank you for the reply.
ctrl B makes the top bar (File. Edit. View. Controls. Store. Help.) appear and disappear.
ctrl S makes a side bar appear on the left side of iTunes. It shows the library which has Music. Movies. TV Shows. Apps. Playlists. Ect.
When I did the steps you suggested, my iPhone did not show up in that list.
I checked my firewall settings again, and they seem to be okay. My firewall is the only thing that I am not 100% sure of. If I go to Control Pannel>System and Security>Windows Firewall>Allow an app through Windows Firewall. It shows that iTunes is allowed. I'm not sure if something else might need to be allowed as well though. I have a few Remote options that are not allowed such as, Remote Event Log Management, Remote Scheduled Tasks Management, Remote Shutdown, Remote Volume Management, and Routing and Remote Access. I'm not sure if any of these need to be allowed or not, or if they are even affiliated with iTunes.

  • After updating to iOS7, reduced earpiece and loudpeaker volume!

fter the iOS 7 updation, i found that he earpiece volume has considerably decreased. I find it hard to make calls while in a bus or outside now.
Also, even the loudspeaker volume has been reduced a bit it think.
Is it just me or have anyone else encountered such a problem?

It's imessage and not text message, this occur when two people share apple id for imessage.
On both devices go to settings - message - send&receive - remove or uncheck the apple id.
Do the same for start a new conversation.

  • Question regarding early termination and handset earpiece volume

    Hello,
I purchased iphone a week ago from ATT.
If I terminate my contract after 10 months, do I have to return my iphone to ATT even though I pay the early termination fee?
    Another question is this,
when I get a phoe call, the handset earpiece volume is not loud enough to hear in the noisy place.
Is there anyway to fix this problem?
    Thank you.

No, you only have to return it if you cancel within the first 30 days and don't pay the fee.
Is there anyway to fix this problem?
Your volume switches work differently depending on what you are doing. You may get a readout above the "speaker" symbol that appears on the screen telling you what volume is being adjusted.
If you are not using anything, the volume switches adjust the ringer volume.
If you are playing music or video, they adjust the music/video volume.
If your headphones are plugged in, they adjust the headset volume.
If you are actually on a call, they adjust the earpiece volume or speakerphone volume, whichever you are using (without a readout).
If you are on a phone call using bluetooth, they adjust the bluetooth volume.
Dial something like the National Time Signal (303) 499-7111 or your local recdorded weather and adjust the volume during the call.

  • Earpiece volume turn low

without any notice the earpiece volume turn low after normal call and I tried to raise the volume up or down from the side botton and restart the phone but it didn't change anythings for next couple calls (the speaker volume was running normal)and it get back to normal after few calls with no reason, is there anybody have this problem before and know why it happen and by the way my Siri app. also start by itself continously during working on the phone any explaination.

The 3GS is my first iPhone and I have to agree that the volume is quite often much too low for my liking. I have noticed that it's not always, just more often than not. This goes for both the earpiece and the speakerphone. Volume through bluetooth is fine. My hearing is good.
After speaking to a couple of friends who just got the 3GS they all say the same thing, making me think that the volume is where it's supposed to be, but it's just too low for what I'd like it to be. For example, it's fine if I'm in a quite area (volume maxed out), but if there's any sort of background noise it becomes very difficult to hear the other person.
Unfortunately, I don't have any fixes, but if anybody else does, it would be much appreciated here as well!!
