OUTPUT volume resets to high after reboot

I turn the OUTPUT volume down then shut the computer off but when I boot it up the OUTPUT volume is hi again. I have reset pram, repaired permissions and still the same.
Must be a pref bad somewhere.

It may be a bug, but it obviously does not affect everyone. It does not happen on my older Intel iMac. And there is a +Early 2009+ Mac mini in the house, 2.0 GHz (same as and in Dah•veed's profile); it does not happen on it either.
When you did the test of setting volume low (or muted) with external speakers disconnected, and restarting with the external speakers disconnected, was the startup sound from the built-in speakers low (or muted), or was it already reset and loud. This will better determine when the volume reset takes place. If it's already loud, then it takes place during the previous logoff and actions that take place before restarting (or shutting down), or during the initial few seconds of startup (before the startup sound). If it's still low (or muted), then the sound volume reset takes place at some point after the startup sound, but before startup completes.
As another test, if you set the volume low, then log out and log back in (instead of restarting), does the volume stay low or does it get reset to the higher volume.
And as one more test, create a new admin user account in System Preferences Accounts pane

Log out and log in to the new account. Go to System Preferences Accounts pane and set it for +Automatic login+ (If you don't use automatic login normally, then you don't need to set it). Now try doing the same test, except from this account instead of your normal account. Is there any difference in the volume setting being retained?

Useage stats dont reset to zero after full charge?

hi all, i thought that, after a full charge, the useage stats, ie, time in use and standby, went to zero. i am getting the full charge indicator but the stats continue to run up and not get reset to zero. am i missing something? uj thanks.

Are you getting the little plug icon (vs the lightening bolt) in the battery? That is when the iPhone recognizes a full charge, despite how "full" the battery actually appears. If you have been chraging via your wall unit, try to "top off" using the USB. I did that this morning, and as soon as my iPhone had completed a sync, I got the battery symbol and my usage stats reset. Some people have also reported doing it vice versa, and topping off via the wall unit if they have been charging via the USB. Good luck.

Element resets to zero after sub vi runs

Hi all,
I want to use the following code to slowly and continuously ramp up laser power. The sub vi called scan does the ramping but after it has ramped all the say up to the set power it resets to zero. I have been working for awhile trying to figure out how to the variable element set to the final desired power after the ramping has finished but I can't figure out a way that works. I'm curious if anyone has any suggestions!

Well there's your problem, at least the one causing your drop: your index input will keep going up with each iteration, but your array inside the VI is only so large. Once the index goes above the array size, it tries to index past the end and will therefore output the default value of zero. To fix this, put a Select node that is controlled by your x=y? boolean output. If True, output the "Stop" input value and ignore the indexed value.
DISCLAIMER: This should fix your immediate problem that you're asking about, but your code in general will most likely have other issues. There are better ways to ramp a signal.

Why is the does indicator cluster values reset to zero after execution?

I'm using a cluster to contain a selection of indicator. Each indicator has a propery node, the value being sent to the node is the output from a color box constant. A terminal gets associated with the indicator cluster. When I run the program the values get routed to the indicator but quickly reset to zero. If I remove an indicator from the cluster and run the program the indicator stores the value. Why is the indicator values resetting when placed in a cluster?

I've answered this question some hour ago but I see it's still unanswered, so something went wrong.
I think you are bumping against a race condition i.e. you read a value of a control or indicator and change it inside the same loop, LV does not accept it.
If your cluster is an indicator you can create its local variable, change it to read mode, unboundle, change the values of the indicators you want, boundle them back and in the next loop you can set the new value of the cluster (you should use a shift register).
You can use an alternative method that lets you change the values you want of the indicators in your cluster in the same loop. It is based on the property nodes of the cluster, see sample vi attached.For a description of the property node used open the help

MSI 870A Fuzion.... BIOS keeps resetting it self after restart,

I've just brought my first ever parts for my first ever computer build.....fitted everything perfectly and booted....
1st: logo screen came on
then another screen came saying low battery, thunxsomething...IDE, bios clock unset...."hard drive not detected"
3rd: screen came up asking either f1 to go into bios f2 to load defualts
i pressed f2 little dash flashes in the top corner
rstarted with second {the same procedure as explained }try ubuntu live usb loads......
after shutdown and installation of OS
i attempt to troublkeshoot the issue of bios time, IDE, and no hard drive detected
by going into the bios... which was totally from whats expected i.e. in colomns instead rows
i was expecting bios style shown below however after thought i got adjusted to the new rows one

saved AND EXITED

just as an extra, a small splat of water went on the board i simply wiped it away........(happened before first boot) would this by any chance affect the bios

what message exactly you are getting at bios post screen?

Volume's name changing after restart

Hi
I have two volumes on my system. Since I have started using Tiger, when I restart the computer every time one of the volumes is mounted with a different name. I have some internal links, pointing to things in this particular volume and when the name got changed, it's all lost... Can you give me some hints how to solve the problem? The settings seems to be OK and under Panther I didn't have this problem... Thank you!

The ".DS_Store" keeps information about how a folder is displayed in the Finder, and since it belongs to 501, you ought to get rid of it. Then try changing the name. I'm not convinced this is going to work, but you should do it anyway.
While you're at it you might as well get rid of "Desktop DB" and "Desktop DF" unless you use OS 9 on that disk:
cd /Volumes/Daten/
sudo rm .DS_Store "Desktop DB" "Desktop DF"The quotes are necessary because of the space in the filenames. You will be prompted for your password after the second command. This is not echoed for security reasons: just type it and press return.
If you still can't make the name change stick, post back with the new name you would like, and we'll see if it can be done from the Terminal.

Imovie resetting photo duration after restart

ok, so I have several movie projects in imovie 08 without big issues, however, this time instead of using videos I used photos to create a video slideshow. I set the duration for the photos by clicking on the little "clock" button on the bottom of the picture and then checking the "apply for all photos", which did nothing to set the duration for every picture. I ended up setting the duration for the pictures on each one manually but when I reopen the program to work on the project later on it has already reset the duration of the pictures to random times. I also tried adjusting the duration by using the "project properties", but here is the same problem, it seems to reset itself to whatever it feels like...any suggestions on how to fix this issue?

Play counts resetting to zero after reaching 100 plays

I've recently noticed my top played songs drop out of my 25 most played songs smart playlist. It seems to happen every time a song reaches 100 plays. Any ideas on a fix? Also is it possible to manually amend the play counts to get the 2 songs that this has happened to back to their correct play count?

That is an odd bug. I read one report that iTunes 11 has a playcount bug where if you have "crossfade" enabled it won't increment the play counts. I haven't personally verified that one.

My ringtone volume resets the setting to zero for no reason.

In settings the "ringtone and alerts" are set NOT to adjust with the buttons, but the ringtone and alerts volume reset to zero for no reason. Even the ringtone and alerts volume bar will show zero. Does anyone know how to stop this from happening.

If your ipod gets wet, it can cause the buttons to activate all by themselves. This can cause the volume to go up, down.
If you have a headset with buttons on the wire, check there first. Try a different set of headphones and see what the result is.
Finally, if the volume is changing a huge amount but only for certain tracks, there is an adjustment you can make on individual tracks in iTunes. Do a get info on one of the tracks doing this, then click the Options tab. Note that there is a volume adjustment slider. Make sure it is set to none.

Unsuccessful Login Notification Does Not Reset To Zero

On 12.0.6 in Production:
When attempting to login the applications Find that Unsuccessful login notification always
displays a cumulative count of unsuccessful logins every time. It does not reset to zero
after you successfully login.
Please advise how to fix this notification.

Mac OSX 10.7.4 mouse scroll resets to lion default after restart or shutdown

I use a Logitech M570 with my late 2009 Mac Mini and like to have my scroll set to the way scrolling should work with a scroll wheel and how it has work for year before Apple decided it was wrong. Well after I updated to 10.7.4 my mac now wants to reset the scroll to the new way Lion does it after every shutdown or restart and its starting to get really annoying. Does anyone know a way to fix this or a way I can bring this to Apple's attention so they can fix it.

Repairing the permissions of a home folder in Lion is a complicated procedure. I don’t know of a simpler one that always works.
Back up all data now. Before proceeding, you must be sure you can restore your system to its present state
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
Drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:

After update to ios 6.
The volume went to zero directly when i pressed volume down just once only.
Is there anyone have the same problem?

There have been a few other discussions about this happening when updating the iPad. I haven't seen a fix. There is no specific setting that would affect this but you can try resetting all settings.
Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered

MBP Retina Desktop Wallpaper resets after restart

Earlier this week I got my new MBP 15" Retina, and completed a clean installation of applications from my old MBP.
This morning I had to install and update and for the first time had to restart the computer. After restarting the origional wallpaper shows on login.
After login and going into Desktop & Screen Saver Settings it shows the proper desktop image.
Steps Completed:
1) Problem only occurs on Restart or Shut Down. A Log Off will maintain the correct wallpaper.
2) Tried changing to Standard Desktop Picture or an iPhoto gallery photo.
3) Unlocked '/Users/scottdavis/Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist' made wallpaper change (it changes date modified). Restart. Did not resolve.
4) Tested the same process on MBP 17" Early 2008, works correctly.
5) Running OSX 10.8.2 - completed MBP Update 2.0 (is where I had to restart)

I have had this same issue with OS X Lion and it continued on to OS X Mountain Lion as well. I have had the wallpaper switching on me to the default solid blue color whenever I restarted (every month or so) and when switching between users (every other day or so). So this issue was very frustrating having to go back in and reset the wallpaper to my preference whenever I switched to either user. I found a solution that has been working for me for several restarts and several switching of users now:
First, I took some of your advice by locating all of my wallpapers into a 'Wallpaper' folder located in each user's 'Documents' directory. I copied to same wallpapers to each user so both user's have the same wallpapers to choose from.
Then, I installed the latest stable version of 'OnyX' (freeware software). I used OnyX on both user accounts to run through practically all the settings to clean up the entire Mac (Mac Mini, mid 2011) including: Verify [S.M.A.R.T. Status, Structure of volume, and Preferences], Maintenance [Permissions], Cleaning [System cache, User cache, Internet cache, Fonts cache, Log cache, Misc. cache]. I generally left the default checked boxes alone and didn't change any settings and Executed the program to run as default.
After running OnyX, I re-set my wallpapers for each user and went ahead and tested the restarting of the computer and switching back and forth between users. It was very easy to duplicate the bug previously, but now I could not get the wallpaper to switch back to the default blue as before. Everything seems stable with my wallpaper selection now.

As a side note, my Mac is running much smoother and quicker now too. =)

Volume keeps resetting to halfway upon restart

Hi, every time I restart my notebook the volume resets so that it's halfway on the volume slider. Shouldn't this setting be saved? How do I change it so it does save?

Update: Just before posting this message, I checked my sound settings after booting up my notebook and it was actually saved to the last state. Then after I wrote the above message, I plugged in my earbuds thinking everything was gonna be ok and an alert sounded which about scared the bejesus out of me. I rechecked the sound settings and it was back in the middle. Grr!
I've got the Sound Preferences window open right now and when I remove the earbuds, the output volume goes back down to what it was saved as. When I plug it back in, the volume jumps to the middle. I turned the volume down with it plugged in and tried the above test again. Now it toggles between both saved settings, which is what I'd expect.
