Volume Resets to Loud When Starting Up

Each time I startup my computer, the volume is always too loud—usually all but 3 of the blocks in the volume bar are white. Normally it was the same level of volume at which I left it when I shut it down.
I have tried resetting my PRAM to resolve the problem, as I read that stores volume information, but it didn't make a difference.
I haven't made any hardware changes to my computer that would coincide with the change. The last change I made was getting a new battery, but that was a few months before this started happening.
Any ideas? Your help is very much appreciated!

After thinking about this...to be honest. You'll have to download the video edit the sound volume and do a save...

  • Logic POPPING very loudly when starting playback

When using Logic 8.0.1 with 10.5.1 and while having say, the channel EQ on a track with a drastic EQ setting (boost) and starting playback I get loud POPS as the audio engine starts. Leads me to believe this is tied to the system overload messages. I just don't think Logic is processing all required data in time and therefore sorta POPS on. Very annoying and this happens with any EQ set with an extreme setting, say a telephone effect with a large boost. Tried every possible audio setting to see if this would fix and it does not. This happens even using the internal core audio driver and listening through headphones plugged into my Mac Pro. I have ruled out the audio interface itself, so what is it? Logic or Leopard?????? Please Lord let 10.5.2 fix all the issues people are having with system overload and pops and clicks. Amen.......

There used to be an old bug in Logic's Fat EQ (I think it was that one) that would cause a huge power spike if the setting was extreme. May be a problem with the plugin's dsp code.

  • Volume resets to full when download finishes while viewing in browser

While viewing a Quicktime movie in a browser (either Safari or Firefox), if I set the volume while the file is still downloading, once it has finished downloading it always resets to full volume. It's little bit annoying. Anybody have any ideas why or how to fix it? I had a search of the other threads but couldn't find anything... is this only happening to me?

Is your iPhone not showing up in iTunes sidebar, or is iTunes not just launching automatically?
The things that you can check are:
    1) Launch iTunes manually
    2) Restart or reset your iPhone (http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3281)
    3) Check your cable including disconnecting and reconnecting it on bot the phone end and the computer USB end.
    4) Reboot your computer
    5) As a last resort, take it to the Apple Store so they can check the hardware

    Thanks for the reply,
I should have said what I already tried.
I have moved the instrument to a fresh track
    I have removed all regions
I have "removed all automation off current track"
It still does this, so I had to automate the paramter to on, and it even resets itself when a new regions comes along the SPL.
There must be something causing this. I know it responds to midi, but with no regions/automation, what is up?

When i use TTY on my Iphone 4s the volume is really loud and i cant control it. How do i change this?

That is probably because you have one or more bookmarks with a long title.<br />
The width of a column in the Bookmarks menu list is in current Firefox versions automatically adjusted to fit the bookmark with the longest name.<br />
You can check the names of the bookmarks and make the longer ones shorter.<br />

  • My ipad2's volume is really loud and has some static even when the volume is down below half. Is my speaker blown and can it be repaired?

The volume is so loud and full of static even at low volume settings. I think the speaker might be blown. I had no volume for a couple of days the I powered it of let it set over night and turned it on the next day. Now the volume is super loud and I am afraid the speaker is blown or going to any time now. Is there an easy fix to this or do I have to send it in for repairs? I have only had this ipad since Christmas.

To solve some sound problems, just follow these simple steps
    1. Go to Settings
    2. Tap on General
    3. Tap on Reset
    4. Tap on Reset All Settings

  • Help with tabs, I reset but doesn't fix problem when started again

When started the new tab is blank and doesn't show the 9 previous pages like before. I have gone to help the troubleshooting and then reset Firefox. This works until I shut down Firefox although when I start a new session the New Tabs are Blank again.
    please help.

Is the new tab page completely blank or is there a little 9-square icon on the right side? If that's there, can you check your history and make sure your history wasn't cleared?
In the future, you shouldn't need to do a full reset to edit this preference. In fact, it would be helpful to take a look at what is there when this problem occurs. This involves using the about:config preferences editor:
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''newtab''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click the '''browser.newtab.url''' preference and enter your preferred page:
    * ''Page thumbnails (default)'' => about:newtab
    * ''Blank tab'' => about:blank
    * ''Built-in Firefox home page'' => about:home
    * ''Any other page'' => full URL to the page
Press Ctrl+t to open a new tab and verify that it worked. Fixed?
If it's fixed temporarily, does it stick until you exit Firefox and restart it? Sometimes preferences will be changed at startup by a user.js file. This file isn't created by Firefox, but can be created by a user or third party software to override your regular settings. To check for a user.js file, try the steps in this article: [[How to fix preferences that won't save]].

  • Volume to loud when connected with Garmin Zumo 660

    Good afternoon
    I have a C3-00 witch I daily use connected with a Garmin Zumo 660.
The problem is the volume is to loud that I can't understand people who I'm talking to.
I try to change the volume on the cell phone but I can't because it's blocked.
    The software version off my Nokia C3-00 is V 04.60 31-08-10 RM-614
The GPS use Bluetooth Technology A2DP.
    Can you help me?
    Regards

By reading the spec of the 660 no.  The 660 will transmit to BT headphone/headset.

  • My volume is not working when on the ringer what do I do

My iPhone volume is not working when I have the volume set on. It will work with the headphones but other then that nothing. What's going on with it?

supposedly from what I have read it is a software issue. I actually am also having this problem it worked after I performed a full reset,  but now it has started again tomorrow I am going to the apple store to find out what I can do as I bought my 4s right before the 5 was released.

  • Why is my G5 is stopping on the grey+apple logo screen when starting up?

My G5 is stopping on the grey+apple logo screen when starting up and fans run faster than usual after a couple minutes. I have read many of the posts related here, but it seems none are exactly what I am experiencing. Here is what I have done:
+Disconnected all peripheral devices (except for keyboard and mouse).
+Unplugged power cord and plugged back in.
    +Unplugged ethernet cable.
    +Removed added memory.
+Reset the SMU button on the logic board.
+Reset the PRAM by pressing Command-Option-P-R keys. It makes its second start up chime but I still get the grey screen.
+After opening the disc door with a paper clip, started up while pressing "C" with Hardware Test CD which found no problems.
+However, also started up with Systemworks disc and ran Disc Doctor, but I get an "unexpected problem, Error found: disk error" while "Checking Directories: Catalog Structure". When trying to run Speed Disc, my hard drive doesn't even show up in the window to select it. Nor does it show up in Disk Viewer.
I have not tried to start up from the original Mac Startup or installation disc that came with the computer. I am not at my G5 right now (having to use the internet at work). If I start up with that disc, will I loose any work (if I haven't already) that I haven't backed up?
Also, the G5 manual suggests replacing the lithium battery inside the tower if I am having problems starting up. I have not read to do this anywhere else except in the manual. It mentions having problems with the date and time which I haven't so I doubt it's the battery.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Tony
    G5 Power Mac   Mac OS X (10.0.x)

First and foremost you should never use Norton Utilities Disk Doctor or Speed Disk. They will corrupt your hard drive. NUM is not compatible with modern Macs and is no longer supported by Symantec. I highly recommend you uninstall it. You will find instructions here.
    You should do the following:
Boot from your Tiger DVD. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button, then select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu . After DU loads select your OS X volume from the list on the left, click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now shutdown the computer for a couple of minutes and then restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (3.0.3 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.1.1 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
If this does not fix the problem, then it's possible your system files have been damaged in which case you may need to reinstall OS X. You can do this by an Archive and Install which does not require erasing the hard drive. However, the hard drive must be verified as OK per the preceeding intructions.

  • OUTPUT volume resets to high after reboot

I turn the OUTPUT volume down then shut the computer off but when I boot it up the OUTPUT volume is hi again. I have reset pram, repaired permissions and still the same.
Must be a pref bad somewhere.
There are no stuck keys on the keyboard

It may be a bug, but it obviously does not affect everyone. It does not happen on my older Intel iMac. And there is a +Early 2009+ Mac mini in the house, 2.0 GHz (same as and in Dah•veed's profile); it does not happen on it either.
When you did the test of setting volume low (or muted) with external speakers disconnected, and restarting with the external speakers disconnected, was the startup sound from the built-in speakers low (or muted), or was it already reset and loud. This will better determine when the volume reset takes place. If it's already loud, then it takes place during the previous logoff and actions that take place before restarting (or shutting down), or during the initial few seconds of startup (before the startup sound). If it's still low (or muted), then the sound volume reset takes place at some point after the startup sound, but before startup completes.
As another test, if you set the volume low, then log out and log back in (instead of restarting), does the volume stay low or does it get reset to the higher volume.
And as one more test, create a new admin user account in System Preferences Accounts pane
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/8235.html
Log out and log in to the new account. Go to System Preferences Accounts pane and set it for +Automatic login+ (If you don't use automatic login normally, then you don't need to set it). Now try doing the same test, except from this account instead of your normal account. Is there any difference in the volume setting being retained?
