Volume slider bar has changed appearance

My volume slider bar has disappeared & in it's place I have a series of dots. Anybody have any ideas?

MISSING VOLUME SLIDER BAR SOLVED!!!

I have found the culprit! It has taken me a very long time to figure it out what it was but it has finally been found. The volume slider disappears when playing music or watching videos but otherwise works.
The problem is the 32pin connector. If you don't believe me take your phone and place a hard plastic card of some sort (creditcard, school I.D) and place it underneath the 32pin connector. Look at your volume slider and it should appear! You must get your 32pin connector replaced.

I wouldn't go as fr as getting a new iPod yet. Take it into a genius bar and see what they say. I got my old iPod nano that got sent through the wash replaced for around $50. I don't promise anything.

ITouch not recognising headphones(no volume slide bar)

hi I have an ipod touch 32GB 1st Gen running OS 3.1.3
and recently a new problem has arisen.
when my headpones are plugged in, they play very quietly and I have no option of adjusting the volume, slide bar just isn't there.
I have tried various headphones, and the ones I use with my ipod I tried on my laptop and they work fine.
this has been happening for about 2 weeks now, and sometimes after resetting my ipod (holding lock and menu button at the same time) it makes it work but very raerly, and sometimes after disconnecting and re plugging in the headphones the slide bar appears, however nearly always asoon as I stop using the ipod and then go to use it again the problem returns.
and now for past 2 days I've been unable to get the slide bar up at all.
Anyone know ways to fix it.
also if it's not possible to fix from home, would I be able to get it repaired by apple despite I do not have warranty for it (bought it second hand off ebay)

After upgrade to iOS8, very slow, no volume slider bar, no volume through the iPad although the headphones work. My volume slider bar now reads"Sound Effects"?? Mute is off, need help. So frustrated!

I need help! After upgrading to iOS8.1.2 , my volume slider bar disappeared and is now "Sound Effects" ??? I have no external sound. Do have sound through headphones. Mute is off. I do not think apple will do much to help you under warrenty, as this was caused by a fall. (alas!)
I think the case is, as you suggest, jamming the rocker down, and it may have damaged the swith itself. Can you carefully lever it out of the way? Very very carefully. If it is already broken, there is not much harm you can do by trying.
If it is just the switch being jammed, you might be able to move it out a little. If it is the swith itself, you will need some real service after your three hour drive. You might check your loacl area for a closer service repair source.

Not sure whether for instance you initially had a Yahoo optimised version of Firefox, and have now overwritten it with an official Mozilla version. Although the Mozilla version should NOT add unwanted features, but the Yahoo version may well do.
If you merely need to find the Yahoo emails page quickly just add it as a bookmark or as a bookmark on the Bookmarks toolbar and make sure that is visible.
Clicking the star icon on the location bar whilst looking at your emails will bookmark the page.

No response from the the volume slide bar on keyboard

i recently purchased a new dv6 model. However, its volume slide bar on the keyboard doesnt seem to work anymore. I have tried restart the laptop but i still cant get it to work.
Is there any way to fix this problem?

Slider bar name changes when the phone times out

WHen my iphone4 times out the slider bar usually say slide to unlock or open. For the past 3-4 days it has said jakeallan3. It doesn't do it everytime but quit often.

I recently had a similar problem with my 3GS (4.2.1) when I travelled to another capital city (but same country) last weekend. I have had the phone for nearly 18 months and not experienced this problem before. Also, there was another iPhone traveling with me (3G 4.2.1) which did not experience this problem. Both phones are connected through the same telco. The only difference between the phones we were travelling with are the model and the Profile on my phone being created using the iPhone Configuration Utility.
The symptoms were:
a. soon after beginning using data in the new city, the phone began to feel quite hot.
b. tried to prolong use by switching wifi, bluetooth off.
c. phone drained quickly turning itself off. After recharging fully the phone again drained quickly. From this point ran through this cycle of events a few times
d. noticed that data usage had risen dramatically (by some gigabytes). However later confirmed that this was not reflected on my billing data at my telco. (luckily - the additional usage would have cost around $4,000,000 on my plan - no exaggeration)
e. turned my phone to flight mode to prevent inadvertent data usage - phone still ran from full to empty in 4.5 hours and remained warm.
On returning to my home town battery life returned to normal and my phone remains cool.
I would like to understand what was going on as this makes the phone unusable if travelling. Given that this has occurred with johnki's two 3GSs on several occasions and almost the same with me i am concerned that my phone will be useless to me outside of my home town.

Suddenly the bottom part of the browser window, under the slide bar, has vanished. I can't see where it says Done, or a website name or all the icons on the right side

The window just ends right below the slide bar. I tried closing the window and reopening it, even restarting the computer, but it didn't fix it. At first I thought the window was too big, so I tried resizing it, but it didn't work.

Mavericks After Upgrading to 10.9.2 the font size in the address/seach bar has changed to be small.

After upgrading to Mavericks 10.9.2 the text in the address/seach bar on Safari is a lot smaller. This is not a screen resolution issue. The fonts in Finder are larger than they were before anoying fix for this would also be nice. It is also not a screen resolution issue.
I really do not know what Apple are doing with quality control with Mavericks. The 3 month GMAIL problems have not been fixed with this upgrade and you also have a lot of font size changes accross you whole machine, within mail, finder and safari.
Any help appreciated.

Mavericks reminds me of all the old problems I had with Windows before I moved to Mac. Prior to Mavericks upgrades would not change screen resolutions, Font sizes etc. The GMAIL issue has not been fixed.
It is inconceivable to me that you could release this product which does not support basic mail functionality for one of the largest email services on the internet ie. GMAIL and then take 3-4 months and still not fixed with the 10.9.2 upgrade. What are you guys doing. The loss of productivity for people is beyond comprehension.
Can we please get a fix for GMAIL in Mavericks that actually works.

A volume named storage has suddenly appeared

I used to have a large disk name 'Storage'. I suspect that the 10.10.1 updated also created a volume with the same name so now parts of my system are quite confused. Updating is the only change made to the system...
The sidebar in the Finder still calls the disk 'Storage' but Get Info calls it 'Storage 1' which is confirmed by the terminal.
My main problem is that Server.app complains that caching is unavailable and claims that all backups are gone both located on a volume name 'Storage'.
The newly created volume looks like this in the terminal:
d--x--x--x+ 3 root admin 102 21 Nov 15:37 Storage
Restarting does not help.
What to do?

Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings

Finder has changed appearance. Sidebar missing.

I'm using OS X 10.9.5 (mavericks). Recently my finder changed apperance.
This is how my finder window normally appears, with the sidebar and top-bar.
..and this i how it appears now, without the top- and sidebar.
When I push "cmd+shift+C" it will open as usual, but only when I previously have pushed a finder-logo.
Can anybody help me get it back to normal, so it appears with the bars?

Volume slider bar missing from side of my itouch

I have a itouch 3G and I cracked the screen a couple of months ago. I know that my 1 year warranty does not cover cracked screens, so I did not do nothing about it because it was just a crack on right corner of the screen and I checked everything else and I saw no other damage. Just the other day I was listening to my itouch and when I was changing the volume of my music using the volume bar on the side of my itouch I saw that part of my volume bar was crack and fell out of the ipod. Well since that happen the rest fell of the volume bar fell out and I have no volume bar on the side anymore.Is my warrenty still good to get that fixed or am I better off saving up and buying a new ipod?

Ringer volume slider bar keeps turning on, how do i disable it while I'm taking pictures.

I have gone in and tried to set all to vibrate, but still the ringer volume keeps coming up and the volume bar shoots all the way to high
it diong wrong, I keep missing those Kodak moments, waiting for it to clear from the LCD when in the camera mode.

I believe I found the problem, an app I have for a radio station, I just noticed the volume was all the way up.
I turned it down. right after I posted this I clicked on "More like this" off to the right, and believe I got what I needed as for an answer. Thanks to Rat_boy's Question and Bryan_Mick's knowledge.if this all it took, then ill be a happy camper for the eclipse tomorrow. Thanks Again Bryan

i tried reseting my ipod today and had a similar problem... it wont be recognized by itunes, the only thing i havent tried is putting it into DFU mode, or the state that it is in when u recieve it telling u to connect it to itunes.i recommend putting it into DFU mode. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34v8HMC9B98 this should better explain it. if i find another way, ill keep u updated
