Volume slider quit working

Somehow my volume slider quit changing volume. Slide it all the way left and the volume goes to zero. Slide it even infinitesimally right from the zero position and the volume goes to some low volume. Sliding it all the way right does not increase or otherwise change the volume. Any idea how to restore functionality to the slider?

The rocker on the side does indeed move the slider on the display. When the slider hits far left (zero) while depressing the lower portion of the rocker all audio terminates. Otherwise there is no effect. Likewise holding the upper portion of the rocker moves the slider right. There is no change in volume whatsoever.
Is there some way to do a hard reset of the device software?

  • Audio Mixer.   Soundtrack Volume slider not working.

I am using Premiere Elements 11 running under Windows 7, 64 bit.   I was in the middle of editing the soundtrack of a slideshow (video clips combined with .jpg photos). In Audio Mixer the Soundtrack volume slider stopped working.  It would not move up or down.   What have I done to cause this?

    John,
Sounds like Track Keyframes have already been added with Audio Mixer.
Now, you can easily overwrite those, but only with automation in Audio Mixer. With Audio Mixer open, just hit the Spacebar, and immediately adjust the Volume to what you want. If you do not need active Volume control, i.e. it changes over time, just hold the Volume slider in the position that you want, until playback has finished. Done, and the old Track Keyframes will have been overwritten.
If your Audio comes too close to the beginning of the Timeline, for you to comfortably begin to adjust it, after hitting playback, just create about a 02 sec. Clip of Black Video (New Icon), and place that at the very beginning of the Timeline. That will also create 02 sec. of silence (often termed Black Audio, by some), and give you plenty of time to get up to the Volume slider. Personally, I start every Timeline with 02 sec. of Black Video, then do a Dip-to-Black Transition to "fade in" my Video. [There is another reason, but it does not apply in PrE. As I create most Projects with DD 5.1 SS Audio, some DVD players take a moment to lock onto the Audio Stream, and that gives them time to do so, without affecting the Audio that the viewer hears.]
One other method, to change things fairly easily, would be to Select ALL Audio Clips on that Track, then just drag them to another, free Audio Track, without Track Keyframes.
This method brings back the ability to use the other control in Audio Mixe - a static adjustment, where one just sets the Volume slider to the desired level, and it stays there.
A tip, that might be useful, is to go to Edit>Preferences>Audio, and set Minimal Time Interval Thinning up to about 100ms. This creates fewer Track Keyframes, and I find it still more than adequate for smooth adjustments in Volume and Balance. If there is any interval, that is too abrupt, I just manually change the Interpolation of the Keyframe from Linear (the default) to say Bezier.
Good luck, and hope that this helps,
    Hunt

  • Volume slider not working in ipod app

Here's an odd one - since the last update, occassionally with headphones plugged in the slider in the ipod app won't work. I can slide it, but then it goes back to max. The physical vol buttons still work, but the change isn't reflected in the slider. Anybody else see this?

Yes, I have seen this quite a bit. There are times when I am listening to music on the iPod app, when I try to move the volume slider one way, it doesn't want to move. It will move a little but not freely as to where I want it to go. To correct this, I just do a reset with both buttons. Not sure on the cause of the problem, but the reset makes the problem go away.

  • Volume Slider not working in DV6-2150US

I have HP Pavilion Notebook DV6-2150US, Win 7.  Just discovered a few days ago that the volume slider and quick launch mute button stopped working.  I searched the old posts but don't know if this relates to other issues mentioned.

    Hi,
    Perform a Hard Reset:
    1. Disconnect all peripheral devices and remove all USB devices and media cards.
    2. Disconnect the AC power adapter, remove the battery, and then press and hold the power button for at least 1 minute.
    3. Reconnect the AC power adapter (do not connect the battery), press the Power button.
Check is this issue solved or not.

  • Volume slider stopped working

    I have a MacBook.
My volume slider for the internal speakers wont work. Headphones work just fine. Before this problem arose, I could get the internal speakers to work if I unplugged the headphones. Now, no such luck. When I unplug the headphones, the light in the headphone jack turns red.
When the headphones are plugged in, the volume slider works. As soon as the headphone are out, the volume slider is unresponsive.
I went to "System Preferences" and tried to play around with the sound settings, but I havent been able to figure this out.
Anyone wants to crack at this
    email me at [email protected]
    Thanks

  • Top master level meter above master volume slider not working

    I have a Power Mac G4, OS X 10.4.6, and GarageBand 3.0.2 (103).
I used a keyboard and GarageBand software instruments to record many tracks for a song. It played in stereo. I saved it. Many days later, I went back and added more tracks, using my keyboard, to the end of the original song to lengthen the song.
My problem: This last song now only plays back with sound coming out of the right speaker. There is NO sound coming from the left speaker.
This original song and all my other saved songs play back in stereo - sound from both speakers. I noticed that the top master level meter above the master volume slider shows no green as this song now plays. The bottom one does show green for the volume as it plays.
I copied a track and pasted it into a "new" song and it plays from both speakers. I copied and pasted an original track and one of the new tracks at the end of the song and both play in stereo in the "new" song.
I checked to make certain that the track pan position is center top of all tracks. I even moved one track pan position entirely to the left on one track but still no sound from the left speaker.
    Could someone pleae help me?
Power Mac G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   No sound from left speaker

It sounds like somehow the pan position on the Master Track has been inadvertantly moved to the right on that song. You didn't say you checked that pan position, but that would explain this sort of thing happening. The meter is probably working correctly but the master has been panned to one side.

  • HP Pavilion dv6-2005tx volume slider not working

I just recently upgraded my Windows 7 32-bit operating system to a windows 7 64-bit operating system manually, and it erased all my drivers. I've managed to get all of them back except for this annoying volume slider one.
Does anyone know where I can get this particular driver?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Download and install MediaSmart SmartMenu (version 3.1.2.2  for 32/64 bit Win7) from here.
    Important note!
Before you will install above software you need to have installed at least one MediaSmart product. The best choice will be in my opinion:
MediaSmart DVD here (version 4.1.4328  for 32/64 bit Win7)
If you don't want to use so many extra software then you may download and install 3VRX (ver 2.5 for 32/64 bit Win7) from here.
    Note:
Here is YouTube video which shows what can be done with 3VRX software.

  • Volume Slider on HP DV9000 (DV9700) Does not work,using Windows 7

Not too long ago, the volume button, next to the volume slider on my laptop stopped working.  After checking postings that I found,  was able to resolve the volume on/off issue, by shutting down the PC,unplug and take the battery out and put it back in.  I still cannot get the volume slider to work!  I can go into the sound mixer and control the volume, but it would be nice to make it work again.  I had this problem with the original OS (Vista) and have upgraded to 7 Ultimate and it still continues.

  • Volume button not working in Remote

When using the Remote application, the volume button on the side of the Touch doesn't work. The on-screen volume slider does work but I'd like to be able to use other applications and use the volume button rather than having to go in and use the slider.

Backup your data and do a factory reset. If that doesn't help then bring it to the service center. X2 has been updated to Lollipop for quite some time. Have not come across any volume issue after Lollipop update.

What is the installed operating system and version (32-bit or 64-bit)?
Do you mean the volume slider from the taskbar or the one from the audio software/
The audio driver can be found on the driver and software download section of the web support portal for your notebook.  This is the page you seek. Use the dropdown to select the correct version of the installed operating system for your notebook. Right-click Computer and select properties to see which version is installed in your notebook.
    Kind regards,
    erico

Thanks for your solution, it wasn't quite what solved the problem but i remembered that i had a bit of salt water on my phone recently and spraying the charging port with an anti-oxide spray solved my problem, do you mind if i ask, how is the charging port related with the volume or/and speakers?

  • HT4061 My volume quit working and volume button disappeared

my volume quit working and the volumebutton disappeared. Last night I was able to get itback briefly by following instructions from a community string. I.e lock rotation double press home and adjust on slide. However this morning, sound gone and can't getting back. The volume button is gone.

THanks. Tried to restore a couple  times now. Think it's toast. Still works w/headphones. Know anything about out of warranty coverage? I dropped shortly after purchased 7 mo ago (volume worked fine until 2 days ago), so don't think limited warranty will be honored b/c of ding from drop (even though it worked after fall)

  • I have an I phone 4 and since I upgrade to the lastest ios  6.1.3 , my volume slider is missing. The sound works when but I can't mute or turn up or turn down the volume. I've tried a hard reset , reboot, blowing air in the dock and earrplug jack. :-(

I tried almost evrything to restore my volume slider( + & - ). My phone rings, plays music and every other sound but I can't mute or put  the volume up r down with the side buttons.. My volume slider bar is missing. This is only simce I upgraded to iso 6.1.3 .. What's with that?? I figured out how to manually  mute the phone through (General, Accessibitily) by muting the bell for sound and unmuting the bell for silent mode. But what a freaken pain, when you have to take all those extra steps to turn your volume up or down or  mute your Iphone??
We have no Apple Store here so no luck to bring it in to get looked at.. Please , does anyone out there know what else I coold do???
    Cheers

Does it work with headphones plugged in?  That is typically the culprit, the device mistakenly believes that a pair of headphones are plugged in.

  • I can't get the volume to work when I watch a you tube video, there's no volume slide under the play button, and my volume control on my I pad won't do anything either, but the volume of all my alarms and sounds works perfect, what can I do??

I can't get the volume to work when I watch a you tube video, there's no volume slide under the play button and my volume control on my I pad don't do anything to help, but yet my volume works perfect on everything else, what can I do???

do u have your ipad doing airplay because that could happen

  • IPad volume doesn't work with 3rd party apps & volume slider gone.

After even a Slide to Power Off, I'll reboot the iPad and I'll launch, say, The Daily Show app. What I encounter is that there is no volume. The physical volume switch has no affect. The volume slider in the video player has been replaced by the word "iPad..." with the ellipse. If I hit the AirPlay button, instead of seeing the menu options "iPad, AirPort Express, Apple TV," I see "AirPort Express, Apple TV, iPad..." (again, with the ellipse) with the last item selected. Selecting either AirPort Express or Apple TV does not take (and, again there is no sound from the iPad even with "iPad..." selected. The volume slider on the multitask bar is also gone.
If I go to the native iPad Video app, everything looks and works normally. If I then go, say, to the ABC Player app and launch a video, I get the same thing that I get with the Daily Show app.
    Any ideas?

You havn't got the old old rotation lock switch 'on' have you ? That mutes notifications now (but not the Apple iPod or Videos app), so may be causing the problems that you're having (as I havn't got those apps I can't check). Rotation lock is now on the taskbar
