Volume up button stuck. What volume controller to use?

Hi everybody,
as in title, my volume up button on my iPod nano 6th generation is stuck. It's no more under warranty, so it is not worth it repairing. I know I could control the internal volume with Apple headphones but the thing is: if I want to use a different pair of headphones, what kind of cable do I need to control the INTERNAL volume? I mean, not the external but the source volume (software). Thanks a lot to anyone who will provide me with a solution. Cya.

Apple does not repair iPhones, with the exception of screen replacements on some models and battery replacement.
An Out of Warranty replacement is $149US for the iPhone 4.

You could try leaving it in an airing cupboard for a few days to dry out thoroughly
Some people also say to put it in a bag of rice .....
People also argue that you should not use a blower such as a hair dryer to dry it out as this can mess things up even more
Personally I am not interested in the bickering people have about this and when this happens to me or people I know I just leave it in the airing cupboard, probably 50% success rate....
IF this fails and it is broken for good:
you can take it to an Apple store and give them the iPod along with a fee and they will give you a fully functional REFURBISHED model
or you can trade it in for 10% off a NEW model of any type apart from iPod shuffle. Does not matter if it is completely destroyed you can still get 10% off (at least at my local Apple store you can)

  • What is Volume controller ?

Can anybody tell me what the new volume controller function is and how I can access/use it?
    Thanks

do u mean the volume limiter. if that wat you meant you can use it to limit how loud your music plays on your ipod. that the basic idea with it and if you got kids you can use it to limit how loud they play thier ipod and also use a combination to lock it so the settings cant be changed unless they know the combination

  • How can i make the volume controller on a pavillion dv4 work after a clean windows install?

    Hello!
Recently I performed a clean windows 7 install from a windows install disk I previously owned, the problem is that this disk didn't intalled the drivers and programs specific for this computer. What I want to know is which driver or program I need to install to make the volume controller on my computer to work again? The problem is that the volume bar that previously appeared on the screen and the "bing" sound indicating the volume level doesn't appear or sound now.
All other things seem to work fine, this is the only problem so far.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Try downloading and installing the latest HP OSD Utility on the following link.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55152.exe
After the installation has completed, restart the notebook.

  • Headphones volume controller not working on new macbook pro

    Hello,
I recently purchased a new macbook pro (15" late 2013) and just noticed that when plugging my headphones (beats solo HD), the volume controller in the headphones doesn't change the volume of the laptop. The headphone controller works fine on my iphone, and on my older macbook pro (2010, running on mavericks too). I checked the Sound settings under System Preferences, and under the Input tab, the new macbook doesn't recognize the headphone microphone either, which my old macbook pro still does. In terms of sound, the headphones work well, and under the Output tab, the Headphones appear, as normal. The sound can also be adjusted using the keyboard keys and the volume adjust on screen, but not with the headphones volume controller, which seems odd to me.
Is there a way to fix this?
    Thanks for your time!
    Melissa

    Hi,
I also noticed this... when I use my old earphones (the white Apple ones that come with the iphone) on my new laptop, everything works fine, including the microphone, volume control, skipping songs... etc. But my other headphones are not recognised at all, just as audio output and nothing else.
My old macbook, however, still fully recognizes both my old earphones and my "troublesome" Beats headphones, even after the latest system update, as does my iphone
So I still don't know what is happening.
Just telling you this so that you make 100% sure your earphones are faulty before discarding them!

  • No sound volume controller in Satellite L750 Series

I just bought a new Satellite L750-A057 laptop, and found a very stupid design issue that it is has no volume controller ! ONLY WINDOWS one, so If I'm in a middle of any full screen application, I must exit or switch to desktop to lower the volume !! and same for any other situation !!
So, any recommendation about how could I control the sound volume with function keys for example ?

It seems you are right. There is no additional volume controller which would allow to set the sound volume up and down
In many cases the Toshiba Multimedia buttons contain an up and down volume buttons but it seems that the L750 does not support such buttons too
    Thats shame :(

  • No volume on youtube & iMac volume controller

    I recently updated to OS X Yosemite 10. 10. 1
Now I don't have sound when adjusting volume controller. I don't have sound watching youtube through Safari.
I do however have sound listening to music through iTunes and watching videos through sites such as nineMSN etc...
Does anyone else have this bizarre problem? Help please.

    Oh darn,
looks like you have a problem with your device.
This method may not work for you, but it should work.
Hold down the power button and home button until the screen shows a black backround with a apple logo.
Be sure to not let go when it first shows the apple logo when you FIRST press it, your device won't break,
    it just won't work.
After the rebooting, (You won't lose any content)
Hopefully, you might be able to turn up the sound.
    Best luck!

  • T6200 Volume Controller problem

hi, i actually just bought t6200 a week ago and i find that the sound is not stable it keep going up and down without i touch the volume controller and also when I turn the volume controller up or down a little bit the volume fly up or down and i just known that it'ss a common problem in the volume controller so what should i do ?
    Thanks in advance

I'll just bumb this up and inform that I too have the same problem. You can though minimize this annoying effect by turning the volume from your computer to as low as you can (depending how loud sounds you want) and then adjusting the volume from your t6200. This way the volume doesn't chance so much!

  • Volume controller

I've just realised that the volume controller for my Desktop Theatre DTT2220 is faulty; whilst it turns the speakers on/off, it no longer alters the volume. Since this is classified as "End of Service Life" I cant get in contact with customer support, so what are my options? Can I buy a replacement from Creative? Wil any Creative remote be OK as replacement, or do I need a certain one?

The following solution has worked for me and other users with exactly the same problem. The only problem is that you'll have to do this a cpl of times a month or more, but it beats banging your head against the wall of customer support.
Your volume controller hopefullly just needs cleaning.
Take the screws off the back of the volume controller. The case is snapped on as well as screwed, so after removing the screws gently remove the back of the case trying not to?break anything. Just keep working it and squeezing it till it comes off. The cord and circuit board assembly will then come out together.
Remove the screw holding the black volume knob on. Then pull of the white piece of paper covering the inside of the volume. Wet a Q-tip with rubbing alcohol and work it into the inside of the volume where the metal contacts are. Use the Q-tip to spin the volume contacts back and forth.
Unfortunately, you can't actually get to the part that needs cleaning the most which is the underside of the copper contacts but by keep all the parts wet with alcohol and spinning the contacts back and forth for about a minute, you should be able to get it all clean enough for it to work well for another couple of weeks before it needs cleaning again.
If you don't have any rubbing alcohol, Listerine will also work. But get a bottle of rubbing alcohol for future cleaning.
I'll be slightly surprised if a moderator doesn't warn that by doing this, you'll void the warranty. But most of these volume controls are already out of warranty and your only other courses of action are to try and get them to sell you a replacement for $5 which will probably do the same thing in 6 months or go and buy a new speaker system from another manufacturer. Anyway customer support for Creative isn't all that bad, I've dealt with much worse and they do answer posts in this forum which they're not abliged to do.
I just wish they had a comprehensi've response for the volume control problem. Something in the knowlegde base would be great.
I think Creative products really are great. I have only Sony and Creative in my house. I have a Creative Zen 30 gig mp3 player which was way less expensi've than my friends 20 gig I-pod. And my mp3 player doesn't copy protect every single song you put on it. I've had it more than a year now and it still works as good as the day I got it.

  • HT4085 My ipad is stuck in portrait. Used the reset, and swiping to left on taskbar, Locked and unlocked side buttons. What else?

I pad stuck in portrait. Already used reset, swiping to left and right. Lock buttons on side and in general settings. What else to try?

The screen lock icon is on the upper right, next to the battery icon.  What do you see there?
If it is not showing the lock symbol and it still doesn't rotate, there may be an issue with the gyro.  May need to go to the Apple store.
