Volume won't adjust using computer volume keys

Hi everyone
Skype is not doing my ears any good at present.  When I plug my ear phones in and begin to make a call I almost go deaf with the volume of the ring tone.  I immediately try and adjust it with the volume control on my key board but nothing happens.  I have to then go to the options tab in the Skype window and adjust it that way.
My question is, how do I link my computer volume control to the volume of my Skype calls so that I can adjust it using the volume control keys on my my keyboard?
Many Thanks

For Audio, the best that you can do is PCM/WAV @ 48KHz 16-bit. Adobe programs can have issues with MPEG encoded Audio, and especially if muxed into a single AV file.

    Hi nitramred,
To start troubleshooting this issue where you are unable to adjust the volume after receiving a call, please go ahead and first force close all of the apps currently running on the device, and then reset it by following the steps in the articles below.
iOS: Force an app to close
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

  • Volume won't adjust or mute

I have a macbook pro that's about a year and a half old and the volume won't adjust anymore. It isn't a headphone jack issue, nor am I getting the "circle" people refer to when they have similar issues. I can't control the volume with my F10,11,12 buttons, or even on my upper toolbar/ system preferences. I still get sound through both the headphones and the internal speakers, but can control the volume through neither. Any ideas would be greatly appricated!
    Thanks!!!

I recently went to the Geforce website and downloaded the latest drivers without a problem. This did not fix the keyboard volume controls issue.

  • My mac book pro seems to be distorting (crackling) songs through itunes / any program or site when adjusting volume. (only happens adjusting using keyboard short cut)

    What i've got:
Mac book pro: 10.6.8 OS X
    What's happening:
A couple of weeks ago, I was adjusting the volume of an i-tunes song using the apple wireless keyboard. When i adjust it, either up or down, crackling and skipping of the song occurs. Happens to ALL songs on itunes, only happens if I am using my keyboard or mac book controls to change the volume. (does not occur when I adjust using i-tunes volume control). I wanted to see if it was i-tunes or not, but it seems even when adjusting volume of a website song or anything crackling and distortion still occurs!
    This is complete bull poop.
Let me know if anyone has any ideas, because I am STUMPED.

Since your issue occurs when using iTunes, post in their forum area.

  • I could not turn up the volume on my iPad using the volume button on the side. Is there any way to fix this?

I could not turn up the sound (volume) on my iPad 2 using the volume button on the side. This happens after I have reduced the volume to minimum using the same volume button. The volume indicator does not move up at all. Note: it was not on mute, so the issue seems to be the button.

Try this and see if it works.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Volume won't adjust on audio from MTS video audio line

I can't get the volume to adjust like fade in on an audio track from an MTS video.
Do I have to convert it to get the adjustments to work?
I tested a sample narration and I could change the volume with key frames including fade in.
    I'm confused.

  • Volume won't adjust after long periods of sitting

    Hello.
Last night, I set my iBook aside, set up like a sort of tent, and went to sleep. It had work to do, I didn't. To prevent it from interfering with my sleeping, I turned the backlight off, and muted the volume.
Now it's the morning. I decide to check my mail. I turn up the volume, but nothing. The OS gives me a long (> 0.5 sec) delay between when I push the button, and no sound! Just to eliminate hardware as a problem, I hooked up a pair of headphones I knew to be good (they better be good, I used them last night), and got the same results.
The problem happens on and off, and I am unable to reproduce it on command. At the moment, my solution is to reboot, which usually fixes the problem. Start-up chime and all. I'll restart the Finder, on a hunch, but it does nothing.
Thankfully, I don't have an overpowering urge to listen to music, or watch some videos right now, so I'm going to try and keep from rebooting my laptop in an attempt to track down the problem.
    Thanks for the help!

Problem solved itself after a few hours of, well, being on, and used. Don't know what started it, don't know what ended it. Any theories? Anyone else had this happen to them?

  • New Ipod Touch won't adjust volume

    Hey,
I just got a brand new Touch today. After updating to 2.0 suddenly the volume won't adjust when listening to music or watching videos. Does anybody have any ideas? Thanks.

I had the same issue but a "Restore" solved the problem. From Apple:
Try restoring iPod touch using iTunes.
Connect iPod touch. When it appears in the Source list, click on Restore in the Summary tab.
The settings and data are backed up and then re-synced after the ipod is restored to factory settings.

  • HELP! When I attempt to use my volume, it brings up my calculator!!!!

When I attempt to turn the volume UP or DOWN using the volume keys at the top of my keyboard, my screen minimizes and my calculator pops up. The volume will NOT change at all!!! I have NO idea how this happened!

    Hi lisalebo!
You may want to try simply restarting your iPad, which is explained in the following article:
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
You may also need to attempt a reset, as described in the article above. If you are still experiencing issues with your passcode, you may need to reference the following article:

  • My iPhone volume buttons won't work, but some volume, no music

My iPhone will not play any sounds, except for phones calls and my ringer. The volume will not work; when I press them the volume icon pops up on the screen, the volume won't change and the volume bar doesn't move on the screen. Also the volume control slider has disappeared on the locked screen music controls. What should I do? I don't want trade in.

    Hi there,
I would reccomend that you take a look at some of the troubleshootign steps found in the article below.

  • Volume stuck suddenly..Won't adjust..

I've been using my iTouch 1G for a year or so and it's worked flawlessly. Then today I went to use it and it's stuck on a loud volume. I tried adjusting the volume slider, but when it moves, the volume stays the same level. It won't adjust at all! I'm not sure what caused it but I might try restoring to see if that fixes it.
    Any idea's?

I was listening to my IPod one day and wondered if the volume button on the side would adjust the volume while listening or if it was just to increase volume when earphones weren't attatched. After adjusting the volume with with the button on the side the slider would no long increase/decrease volume. On a whim I powered off completely and then turned it back on. It apparently reset and the slider worked ok. Hope this works for you before trying a reset. I guess it's the old adage...when all else fails...reboot.

  • I am no longer able to use the volume control buttons ( /-/or mute) on my key board in Windows 7

    5. Question: I am no longer able to use the volume control buttons ( /-/or mute) on my key board in Windows 7

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp50501-51000/sp50856.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, restart the notebook and let Windows fully load.  Open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook again.

  • How can I control the PP (monitor) volume using my computer volume controls.

I'm no longer able to control the PP (monitor) volume using my computer volume controls. I've always controlled the monitor volume using my computer volume levels, but starting today, that has changed.
The volume is just playing at the level recorded with no way for me to turn down or up.
I performed a disc repair and that didn't solve the problem.

Does the OS volume control affect anything?  System beeps and sych?
