Volumes show Locked Icon and no access priviledges to "custom" permissions

Since I upgraded and then migrated to Leopard I have been having issues with ownerships and priviledges.
Constantly was getting cannot move or trash or change due to lack of priviledges but two days ago 4 of my 8 drives have a locked icon on the volume icon and when I try to access them I get a "you do not have access priviledges to this "FOLDER"" message when I try to open the drive?? There is a lot of reuired info and data on these drives and I need to access them!
When I go to GET INFO and look at the permissions they are all "CUSTOM" and when I try to modify or add myself to the list my name comes up but does not add to the list.
I also see 2 (TWO) "system" and one "everyone" on the list??
Some drives only have one "system" but all show custom as priviledges??
PLEASE HELP!

run the following commands in terminal
sudo chflags nouchg /Volumes/"drive-name"
sudo chmod 775 /Volumes/"drive-name"
put the name of the external instead of "drive-name" in the above. keep the quotes. you'll have to enter your admin password (which you won't see). that's normal. repeat for every affected drive.

Wait for advice on repairing a damaged filesystem. Forceshutdown stops processs in mid-stream and leaves some parts not-valid.
Do not proceed until you get that avice.

Video calls are not secure - not showing lock icon

Calls between 9971/8945. Video calls are not getting secured.
video calls are not secure - not showing lock icon.
However audio calls are secure
CUCM Version : 8.6.2.22900-9
1 pub and 2 sub
Secured cluster : mixed mode
9971 : sip9971.9-3-1-33 - running version - same issue
9971 : sip9971.9-2-4-19 - old version - same issue
8945 : sccp8941-8945.9-3-2-11 – Running version.

Would you be able to try 9.3(2) firmware or later? I checked with 9.4(1) and I see a lock icon when placing a video call on my 9971. According to the new and changed information 9.3(2) added additional support for when to display the lock icon,

Ipod shows sady icon and spinning sound comes from the ipod

Hi all,
Please help me , my sis gift me ipod and after one year i put my ipod on my cell phone cover for few minutes accidently which is having magnetic lock, after few minutes my ipod shuts down , when i want to restart the ipod, it sounds like the hard disk is spinning or me be other component producing sound. when i connect it to my laptop it is not connected to my system and even recoginised my my itunes. first of all it is not reseted by using the keys MENU & center button, when i use center and play/pause button, an apple logo appers then i on the hold button after a few seconds the message appers that u need to restore the ipod using itune after a minute it shows donot disconnect in black colour , when i connect it to my system it detects in windows as a external device connected but the dive icon dosent comes, after a few minutes it disappears automatically and shows saddy icon, after that it shows the message " Please wait very low battery" and some processing appears on the sceen. Even one time itunes detects my ipod and says to restore the ipod, but when i click the restore icon, it says your ipod is not detected.
If i connect my ipod to my ipod charger or usb cable it shows sady icon and then disssppears with sound of clicking/spinning,and message appears on screen" Please wait.. very low battery. with processing icon." and then again starts after 2-3 minutes showing apple logo and then sady icon.
Please help me to get rid from this issue.

Nokia icon and cannot access outlook email

I have a nokia icon and cannot access outlook email through verizon cellular service but can access when connected to wi fi. I purchased the phone on June 15, 2014 and it worked fine until yesterday evening, July 29th when the verizon cellular stopped syncing with outlook on company server.

Sometimes Windows Phone gets stuck in getting data via WiFi when there is no WiFi and won't switch back to data.
I used to have that problem in 8.0 with 8.1 it went away. Don't forget to mark your question answered

Set "always show all icons and notifications on the taskbar" via Group policy

Any ideas on how to set "always show all icons and notifications on the taskbar" on a set of users?
I thought it would be under User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Start Menu and Taskbar, but I cannot find it.
Anyone know if this can be enforced via policy?

Unfortunately, there is not any group policy settings which can set "always show all icons and notifications on the
taskbar".
To distribute the setting, you can create a default domain user profile and copy it to the following network share.
When the domain user account is first logged onto the domain, the default profile will be applied.

STS lock icon and authoritzation related

I have a question in STS. Any help will be really helpful.
In STS tool, there are switches available to use that includes status and lock icons . They are tie to the planner user name. Based on authorization given to the planner, he or she should be in position to lock or unlock himself or herself. However this locking or unlocking should not accidentally or intentionally lock or unlock other user.
Thus it is crucial to provide lock or unlock access to the users who are superior to the list of planners. Planner at the object level should be restricted the access to lock or unlock themselves or others.
Current TUNGUSKA BSP code does not have authorization related code implemented . Please see attached screen shot. System program creates a lock data entry directly into UPS_LOCKS irrespective of any authorization check or user . We want to control locking/unlocking to the particular user via authorization concept.

The Padlock is no longer part of Firefox; it was removed beginning in Firefox 4. The padlock shows that there is a secure connection but does not supply additional information. You could have made a typographical error and still have been connected to a secure connection. The padlock was replaced in Firefox 3 with the Site Identity Button. Mail does not show lock icon on received, encrypted messages.

While sending an encrypted email message to my own account (exchange server), I've noticed since updating
to Mavericks, that the lock icon no longer exists within the header being displayed.
I have Mail set to classic view. It does display the email decrypted. If the classic view is switched
off, the message header indicates that the same email message has no content. THis is very odd.
The Mail help indicates the following:
A signed icon (a checkmark) appears in the header area of a signed message. To view the certificate details, click the icon.If the message was altered after it was signed, Mail displays a warning that it can’t verify the message signature.
A lock icon appears in the header area of an encrypted message. If you have your private key in your keychain, the message is decrypted for viewing. Otherwise, Mail indicates it can’t decrypt the message.
This does not appear to work as indicated for 10.9 or 10.9.1
(Mavericks is fully patched.)
In the previous version of OS, Mail implemented these functions just fine.
Is there a solution available to get these working again?

Yes, it happens to me in just one of the 4 accounts I have in the program.
But anyway, now my Mac is making some nosenses, like to show menus mixing english and spanish in the buttons, I can not change my desktop, and in fact not all pictures appear in the menu... the computer runs very slowly, fixing permissions cost around 20 minutes, a lot of small issues that are getting me very upset with Leopard.
But the big a real problem is the Mail, that is working very very bad, and this is my main tool for working.
Meanwhile I'm adquiring a bigger HD and more memory for my Mac, trying to give it more power, because for example in my 98 GB HD I just have 9 GB free.
I hope this will be fixed very soon, because it means a great hurt to my job.

Welcome to the Apple community.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

PDF form has lock icon and I'm unable to view my information entered

I've been working on a 127 page pdf form for a couple of weeks and have saved all of my information multiple times. I recently opened the document to complete the form(I literally had 2 entries left) and I am unable to view any of the information I've entered. The information is no doubt still there because the original form is 7mb, and my saved form is 7.26mb. I am also able to see all of my information when I preview the document by opening the my documents window and clicking once to preview the form in the same window, however can not see any of my information when I attempt to edit it and open the form completely. I am using a PC, windows 7. I'm assuming I can't view my info. because I somehow locked it but I am not asked for a password when I open it. I recently downloaded the original form again and typed in info. and there is no lock icon when I save it under a different name and I'm able to view the info. entered. I have no idea how I locked the form or if this is the reason I can't view the info. when I open the documetn completely. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

There's not much you can do at this point. If you changed the passcode since the last time you synced, or the computer you were syncing with is not available, then there's no way to bypass it. You're going to lose the information.

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least Ten seconds... (But can take Longer)... until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons
If no joy... Try a Restore...

2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.

In System Preferences, I click on the LOCK icon, and it says AUTHENTICATING and starts spinning but nothing happens

I'm trying to make changes to System Preference, but I'm unable to do so because the LOCK icon will not unlock. It just keeps saying AUTHENTICATING and spinning and although I wait, it never stops authenticating. I am the ADMIN, so this is not a guest user issue.

Try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account to see if you get the same thing. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear and again when you log in. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don’t do them all at once.

30g vid ipod froze, now showing multiple icons and unable to restart

today while mowing the lawn (which i listen to music doing) my ipod froze. i dropped it on the grass earlier, and there wasn't any dirt on it but i got worried I restart it with menu+select and then the ipod/support sad face pops up. so i finish mowing the lawn, go inside and plug my ipod into my computer naturally to see if it pops up. Well, my ipod restarts itself, the support icon shows up again, and then the charging icon pops up, replacing the sadface ipod. The charging battery logo will blink a couple of times and after a minute or so it restarts again, sadface, charge, and goes the process again! The funny thing is, that there was plenty of battery life when i was listening to it!! over half for sure. I've only had my ipod for 3 months and it has a good case. only been dropped twice. i'm very upset with this and i'd appreciate some help . maybe it needs some charging but i realy need some advice.

Try keeping it plugged into your computer for awhile, I had a similar problem and it just took time to resolve. If all else fails, restore your ipod.
