Voluntary change of struts-config.xml

Why does JDev 10g change struts-config.xml file without programmer being aware of it?? It's the dumbest thing I have ever seen

I have this very same issue and agree that it is some of the oddest ide behavior possible. For instance, we use a struts forward, <forward name="success" path="/binaryFile"/>, of binaryFile to a servlet to display a dynamically created pdf in a browser. Sometimes, and I am not sure why, JDeveloper will modify struts-config.xml such that it will remove the binaryFile forwards, which results in complete application mis-configuration. Or, and this one is my least favorite, JDeveloper will edit the binaryFile forward by attaching .jsp to binaryFile such that it looks like this, <forward name="success" path="/binaryFile.jsp"/>, again causing application mis-configuration. My only guess is that JDeveloper does not see an extension like .do or .jsp and thinks it is doing the right thing by updating it for you. Has this been resolved in the latest version of JDeveloper?

    You'll be able to test them without the container or Struts, and you'll be able to reuse those objects in other, non-Web contexts.

What if you change Web frameworks to WebWork or Spring? The connection pool should be configured in the container that hosts your app, not Struts.

    Now, when looking at the struts-config file, everything seems fine. However, when i remove the <form-bean> declarations, i don't get this error. Of course, without the form-bean declarations, the application comes to a halt when it needs them. I've tried almost everything under the sun and nothing has worked so far, i'm sure it's probably something simple and i'll feel like a complete idiot when it's figured out, but until then, can anyone help???

  • Dynamic struts-config.xml datasource

    Is there a way to setup my application so it can detect what server(testing or production) it is running on, and decide which database to point to without me having to change the config file when I deploy the app in a test or production environment? Basically, I would like to only have to build the .war file and place it either on my test server or production server and it point to the correct database without me having to fiddle with the config files every time. All ideas are welcome.
    Thanks.
    -PV

    Nevermind, I thought of another way of doing it. I'll add it to my build script. So I specify which struts-config.xml file should be used when I build the .war file.
    Thanks

  • Passing a QueryString in Struts-Config.xml

    Hi,
    How to pass a queryString in Struts-Config.xml??
    For eg,
    <forward name="Success"                    path="/TestAction.do?method=nextPage&Id=100">
                   </forward>
    Not working in struts 1.1. Where it is taking only one parameter where it is not taking the "&" part?? What is the problem here. Please do provide
    a solution for this.
    Thanks,
    JavaCrazyLover

    Hi
    If you want to pass two or more parameters in struts-config.xml do it like this
    eg : <forward name="Success" path="/TestAction.do?method=nextPage&Id=100">
    </forward>
    It worked for me. instead of & use &

  • Using chinese characters in struts-config.xml

    Hi
    i am developing an application in Chinese language where i need to create all the urls in the Chinese language. i am using struts 1.3.5.can anyone tell me is it possible to use Chinese characters in struts-config.xml action mappings? i tried but it is not working. is there ant way really?
    Regards,
    A.

    Don't know about struts specifically, but for Chinese URLs to work you would need to convert to punycode at some point, to comply with IDNA: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punycode
    Are you doing that?

    Hi Amit Garg,
    <data-sources>
    <data-source type = "org.apache.commons.dbcp.BasicDataSource" key = "DBA">
    </data-source>
    <data-sources>
    <data-source type = "org.apache.commons.dbcp.BasicDataSource" key = "AISDEV">
    </data-source>
    </data-sources>
    u just configure ur struts-config.xml file in the above manner and use the following steps in ur action servlet to retrive the DataSource object
    getDatasource(request,"DBA") for accessing first datasource
    getDatasource(request,"AISDEV") for accessing second datasource.

  • No route to host:connect -- error in the struts-config.xml file

    hi all,
    acutally am doing a struts application in that i have written everything properly
    but getting this kinda no route to host:connect error
    my struts-config.xml file is like this...
    <struts-config>
    <form-beans>
    <form-bean name="myForm" type="MyForm">
    </form-beans>
    <action-mappings>
    <action path="/action"
                   name="myForm"
                   type="MyAction"
                   scope="request"
                   validate="true" >
                   <forward name="success" path="/success.jsp" />
                   <forward name="failure" path="/failure.jsp" />
         </action>
    </action-mappings>
    </struts-config>
    sikandar

    Hi Lee,
    I am working on Oracle ADF 10.1.2 and getting the same problem. The lines in my struts-config.xml are as below:
    <action path="/unitsView" className="oracle.adf.controller.struts.actions.DataActionMapping" type="view.UnitsViewAction" name="DataForm" parameter="/unitsView.uix" unknown="false">
    <set-property property="modelReference" value="unitsViewUIModel"/>
    <forward name="unitsEditLink" path="/unitsEdit.do"/>
    </action>
    <action path="/unitsView" className="oracle.adf.controller.struts.actions.DataActionMapping" type="view.UnitsViewAction" name="DataForm" parameter="/unitsView.uix" unknown="false">
    <set-property property="modelReference" value="unitsViewUIModel"/>
    <forward name="unitsCreateLink" path="/unitsCreate.do"/>
    </action>
    I have two lines with [action path="/unitsView"]. The reason why is that I want the user to go to the form create screen for the create button and form edit screen for the edit button. If this does not work, it seems to mean that only a single screen can be used for create/edit functions. However, the ADF editor diagram looks perfectly to point to create.uix and edit.uix respectively.
    Please shed some light.
    Thanks,
    Regards,
    Michael

    Hi all
    Can we have more than one struts-config.xml files in
    one project developed using struts.
    yes it is possible
    If so what is purpose and how to do this.
    it is use for odular application so developer won't share a single configureation file.. as you know struts-config.xml is defined on the web.xml
    like this:
    <servlet>
    <servlet-name>mybank</servlet-name>
    <servlet-class>org.apache.struts.action.ActionServlet
    </servlet-class>
    <init-param>
    <param-name>config</param-name>
    <param-value>/WEB-INF/struts-config.xml</param-value>
    </init-param>
    <init-param>
    <param-name>config/module1</param-name>
    <param-value>
    /WEB-INF/struts-module1-config.xml
    </param-value>
    </init-param>
    </servlet>

  • ERROR PARSING MY STRUTS-CONFIG.XML...

    Hi everyOne!
    I need to get this connection:
    ("jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/netinfoa_amt?characterEncoding=UTF-8&useUnicode=true", "root", "****");
    using <data-sources> declared on my STRUTS-CONFIG.XML
    no problem with:
    <data-sources>
        <data-source type="org.apache.commons.dbcp.BasicDataSource">
          <set-property property="autoCommit"      value="false"/>
          <set-property property="driverClassName" value="org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver"/>
          <set-property property="url"               value="jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/netinfoa_amt" />
          <set-property property="username" value="root"/>
          <set-property property="password" value="****"/>
        </data-source>
      </data-sources>But i have this problem: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: The reference to entity "useUnicode" must end with the ';' delimiter.
    trying:
    <data-sources>
        <data-source type="org.apache.commons.dbcp.BasicDataSource">
          <set-property property="autoCommit"      value="false"/>
          <set-property property="driverClassName" value="org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver"/>
          <set-property property="url"               value="jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/netinfoa_amt?characterEncoding=UTF-8&useUnicode=true" />
          <set-property property="username" value="root"/>
          <set-property property="password" value="****"/>
        </data-source>
      </data-sources>I also tried
    <set-property property="useUnicode" value="true" />
    <set-property property="characterEncoding" value="UTF-8" />
    but it doesn't work... any idea?
    thank!

    Usually, a 503 means that WebLogic can't find the compiler it needs to compile your JSPs. Check your weblogic.xml for the compiler param (forgot the exact name) in the jsp section (<jsp:descriptor>).
    If the above doesn't apply to your case, I'm afraid I can't be of much further help...

  • Multiple Data source in Struts-Config.xml

    Hi ,
    I am Amit Garg and i am new to this forum....
    Can any one help me out with the problem that i need to have 3 data source in my struts-config file and how will my getDatasource(request) method recoganise which data source to pick and access.

    Hi Amit Garg,
    <data-sources>
    <data-source type = "org.apache.commons.dbcp.BasicDataSource" key = "DBA">
    </data-source>
    <data-sources>
    <data-source type = "org.apache.commons.dbcp.BasicDataSource" key = "AISDEV">
    </data-source>
    </data-sources>
    u just configure ur struts-config.xml file in the above manner and use the following steps in ur action servlet to retrive the DataSource object
    getDatasource(request,"DBA") for accessing first datasource
    getDatasource(request,"AISDEV") for accessing second datasource.
