Volvo car adapter 5th generation Ipod problems?

Has anyone experienced problems with the new 30gb video ipod and the volvo installed ipod car adapter ? I used to have an older ipod. The one with the four red buttons. 3rd generation? No problems. The 5th generation seems to freeze up, and the ipod gets stuck on pause. When turning off the engine and then turning the car back on. Sometimes it works fine. Other times it freezes. The one benefit for others who have this adapter, Is when it freeze's sometimes the screen will say "Charged" instead of "ok to disconnect" at that point you can use the ipod itself and do not have to use the playlists on the radio, which is kind of great!!! Is this a fluke? or has anyone else noticed this. I'm guessing maybe its a problem with the pin set up in the new ipod. My old one used a firewire cable the new one uses a usb.

thanks for the quick response you think that I can do with the display or would you advise me to repair it at a dealer can be. On eBay the cheapest diplays captured here in Germany for 13 €, and I've already some viewed videos in youtube and trust me the matrimonial to because of warranty, I can not anymore and I do not want to matrimonial so much money to pay for the repair because I I paid for the ipod itself is only 65 €.
I have noticed is that it only shows up when the brightness is if I set to display from the display always works perfectly
thank you a lot

  • Itunes 9/5th generation ipod problem

I upgraded to itunes 9.0.2 a couple of days ago, and now i can't get it to recognize my 5th generation 80G ipod. The computer sees it, but itunes doesn't, i just get the beachball. The guy at the Apple store there said the ipod drive is going (it's 2+ years old), and that maybe, but i'm not convinced that's what the problem. I had no problems with it until version 9 showed up, especially the 0.2 version. Has anyone else experienced the same thing?

I have the exact same problem with my 5th generation ipod and itunes 9.0.2. Itunes demands I restore to factory setting. Everything was fine up until this itunes update.
I use my ipod as an external HD as well as for music.

  • Volvo car adapter with iPod

Recently had Volvo car adapter for iPod installed. Worked great, including the ability to use the scroll wheel to access songs/ albums beyond the nine operable from the steering. Then I updated with 1.2.1. Now I have no scroll wheel functionality at all in the car. The iPod works fine when not connected to the car, and all nine playlists can be accessed when connected to the car. Just would be nice to be able to use the wheel as well, especially since it did work prior to the update.

I'm having a similar problem. It will play from the steering wheel, but I only get about 7 song then it locks up. The problem is version 1.2.1. I was able to re-load version 1.1, but now I have all the problems with that version. I agree, it seemed that version 1.2 was almost perfect but since they have iTunes upgrading the iPods now, you can't just re-install version 1.2. It can't find anyone with an answer or anyone from apple offering a good solution. The older version is almost as big a problem as the newest version.

  • Problems downloading songs from Match to a 5th Generation iPod

I have about 16,000 songs in my library in iTunes on a Windows 7 laptop, and have successfully turned on and synced with Match, with a paid subscription. Now I want to download songs from my library to a 5th Generation iPod. Whwn I connect the iPod to my PC, iTunes sees that iPod, allowed me to Restore it, then I clicked the device (iPod) checked Sync Music, Selected Playlists, artists, albums and genres. I browsed the artists that it showed to select a portion on my library (since 16,000 songs won't fit on a 30 gig iPod) and iTunes showed only 136 out of 16,000 songs. I have a Playlist titled All, that has the whole library in it, tried selecting that, but got the same result. Why isn't iTunes seeing my whole library?
    Thanks!

Is this an iPod Touch and have you enabled iTunes Match on the device? If not, which seems to be the case from your description, this isn't really an iTunes Match problem. You might get better help by posting in one of the specific iPod forums, or perhaps the iTunes for Windows forum.

What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting this issue?  Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your PC? Have you tried a different USB cable?
What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the PC?
    How to reset iPod
Has this iPod ever worked on this PC or is this the first time you have time you have tried connecting it?
Have you carefully worked through each and every single suggestion in this Apple support document?

  • 5th generation IPOD not recognized by computer

Hey Internet users, my dad's been having some troubles and I was hoping to try and help him by reposting something he did elsewhere...
"Hello Everyone and thank you for reading my post.
I have a weird problem, my 30 gig 5th generation Ipod is not recognized by my computer or itunes. This is the last thing it happen, I was working on a client house for days, so my ipod's battery was completely dead, I was kind of desperate, so I thought that I could plug it to my client's mac just to recharge, but nothing happened. So days later I got back home and my windows PC will not recognized or charge the ipod at all. I got it charge and works perfect with my Ihome radio. I tried rebooting the Ipod, I tried resetting it to be in disk mode with not a problem, I tried changing the USB port, I did connected my friends Ipod and connected right away, so the wire connector is OK, I tried a different wire connector just in case, I tried connecting the ipod to a different PC.... I kind of running of ideas here. The ipod works great but I would live to download some new tunes to it... Any ideas. I cannot restore or upgrade firmware because ipod is not recognized by the computer....
The thing I am trying right now is installing the latest Itunes and see what happens. I have windows Pro SP3 recently updated. Your help would be greatly appreciated."
So...if anyone has any ideas, please post!!

I am having the same problem. Sorry I'm not going to be of any help. But I hope someone gives you some recommendations cause I really want to get mine fixed. My iPod did the exact same thing. It was dead and I tried to use my car charger for the first tim and it did nothing. Then I plugged it in to a friends computer and nothing. I can only charge it on a speaker dock. And no computer recognizes that it's connection when I use the USB cable.

  • 5th Generation iPod Battery Issues

    Hello all.
I'm hoping someone can help me with an issue I recently started having. Both my wife and I have 5th generation iPods that we bought 13 months ago. We have been using them on my computer on a regular basis since then.
About 3 weeks ago I started receiving the "low battery warning." I charged it successfully from my PC and from a car adaptor and after rebooting the iPod the battery would be close to empty. My wife's iPod had similar issues within a week of my issue.
I took my iPod into my local Apple store and they charged me ~$60 for a battery replacement and replaced my wife's since it was within warranty. I sync'ed my new iPod at home on the computer and had the same problems within 2 days. I then tried my wife's iPod and her's was dead before she even got to use it.
I just replaced both iPods at Apple yesterday and I'm afraid to plug them into my computer now, but an iPod isn't much fun unless it has music! Any ideas? What can I check? (Keep in mind that we've been using this same computer for quite sometime now.)
    Thanks,
    Michael

    Hi,
It might be that there is a driver problem on your PC so the iPod is not drawing enough current to charge fully. Some devices like the blackberry and other mp3 players actually say they are charging when in fact they are discharging! Perhaps you could try another PC with iTunes installed and see if you have the same problem - would at the very least rule out your PC.
    I found this on Wiki - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB
The USB specification provides a 5 V (volts) supply on a single wire from which connected USB devices may draw power. The specification provides for no more than 5.25 V and no less than 4.75 V (5 V±5%) between the positive and negative bus power lines.[11] Initially, a device is only allowed to draw 100 mA. It may request more current from the upstream device in units of 2 mA up to a maximum of 500 mA.
I've got a blackberry and the charger is rated 5v 500mA. It has a usb connector for the power lead so I just unplug the standard usb cable for my bberry and plug in the iPod cable. This is exactly the same as the £19 AC chargers you can buy in the shops
    Hope this helps.

  • 5th Generation iPod Touch Syncing issues

I recently receive a 5th Generation iPod Touch as a gift and I am having issues with it. I plugged the iPod into my Windows 7 PC with iTunes 11.4.0.18 and had issues from the start. First, my iPod would not even sync any media content from my library. So I messed around with the settings until the content was on my iPod. Once, it was on there I went to play a song that I had downloaded and it immediately skipped the song and kept going to the next available song , so I went back on to the forums to see that it could be a corruption on the backup and all you would have to do is restore your iPod and it would fix your issue. I did that got to the same step and a few songs played but most skipped. The album art is there for most of the songs not the music. I then went to iPod>On this iPod to find that every song I had just sync had an exclamation point error by the song. This is only happening on the On this iPod menu the music plays fine on the music menu without an issue. I am curious of what I am doing wrong here? I also read that it could be a much bigger problem in that I would have to delete all my music and re-install it. If that is the case I will deal with the iPod as is. It is not worth my time to spend hours trying to re-install 15+ GB on my PC again.

Verify that all play in iTunes on the computer.

  • 5th generation iPod nano is not being recognized

I have 5th generation iPod. My computer (desktop) suddenly decided not to recognize my iPod as of yesterday. To experiment, I connected my iPod to my
brother's computer (laptop) and it worked fine. Suspicious that it was my computer that went haywire, I connected my dad's iPhone to my computer and it
    recognized it.
I got uninstalled my iTunes and all other programs and installed them again. Didn't work. Put my iPod into disk mode. Didn't work. Checked my computer for
any virus. Didn't work. Even changed my USB cable. Didn't work.
So what is the problem here? Is it my iPod or my computer?

Not much else to try then is there other than blowing the whole system away and starting from scratch?
What shows up under Device manager when you plug it in?

5th generation ipod not detected by my windows xp.  works fine on other pc.  performed necessary steps to remove and reinstall itunes but having same issue. is there a driver i can download to pc then direct to that specific location when installing?

I have a similar issue - my iPod nano connects and is visible in Device Manager yet invisible in My Computer and iTunes. I've tried everything I can possibly think of to try and solve this myself, all in vain.
Mine is a nano 4G. I've been using it for quite some time without the slightest problem. I have been using WINAMP instead of iTunes to manage my darling nano.
Then, one fine day I bought a new computer and the nano would not show up in My Computer, though the nano display shows "Do not disconnect". On my old computer it worked (and still works) absolutely fine with win XP as well as with win7 (the later I currently use on my new/problematic computer, which I bought last summer and that's how long I've had this problem).
Of course, after several first attempts I gave up and installed iTunes. I've tried using the Apple support article "iPod not recognized in 'My Computer' and in iTunes for Windows":
    - reset
    - fully charged,
    - cable works fine on two other computers
    - in normal or disk mode makes no difference
    - tried to find anything useful in the diagnostics mode
    - reinstalled iTunes several different times since then to the latest version
    - I've unplugged every other USB device except for my mouse and keyboard and tried several different USB ports on my motherboard (USB 3.0 and conventional), as well as trying different USB- related options in my BIOS.
    - I've never used any Mac with this ipod
    - I've tried fiddling with the win7 Services by stopping and restarting them and of course
    - uninstalling the iPod drivers in Device Manager. After such an uninstall the ipod would automatically be recognised and "ready for use", i.e. being invisible in My Computer.
    - Attempted to find any possible third-party conflict with msconfig or the possibility that my ipod is being confused for a network drive (for which I've disconnected my HDD, leaving only my SSD with the OS).
Sometimes, iTunes would note that iPod service (or something, can't remember exactly) failed to install properly and asked to try and repair it. I would click YES! and voila - no change! The ipod would rarely show up in iTunes on my problematic computer like this:
iTunes would warn me that the nano would need restoring so I would try and do it on my haunted machine upon which iTunes would freeze like you seen in the picture.
Despite this, I've updated and restored the nano on my father's computer to the latest version without any problems. This though, did not solve my problem in any way.
I can load music to my nano through my old computer (which for me is a real pain and hassle) and the gadget works normally in terms of its disconnected functionality.
I've taken my nano to the local service for repair and they said it was fine. Mercifully, they didn't charge for the diagnostics service (gee, thanks for not ripping me off!).
Here are two screengrabs from my Device Manager
and Devices and Printers screens on my comp:
That is my sad story as far as I can remember. It's most likely something with the drivers or something along those lines though I'm out of ideas at this point.
If you think you have any idea PLEASR HELP, I'M DESPERATE!

  • Looking for a headphones solution for 5th generation iPod

So my headphone jack no longer works (technical problem). As a result I need headphones that plug in via the dock connector instead.
A little over a year ago I bought (what I think was) a remote/headphones combo device that solved my problem. The remote plugged into the iPod, and then the headphones plugged into the remote. Problem solved.
I have now lost this device, and whenever I ask the Apple Store for something similar they have no idea what I'm talking about.
Any help in either identifying the device I had before or coming up with a new solution would be greatly, greatly appreciated. I'm ready to pull out my hair at the moment. I refuse to replace a $300 dollar piece of equipment just because I'm having trouble finding something that used to be on the market.

SpringFaery, you didn't say what specifically is wrong with the headphone jack, so I don't know if this will help you or not. I have a 5th generation iPod 30GB that just started having problems with the headphone jack. One of the earbuds was losing sound intermittently. I checked the headphones on other devices and they're fine. The same problem happens when I try other headphones on the iPod, so I assume the problem is the headphone jack.
I found another thread about sound problems with 5th generation iPods in this forum that said that pressing on one corner of the iPod fixes that problem, so I tried doing that on my iPod and it works fine now. I used a 2-inch binder clip and put it on the right side of the iPod, in the upper corner under the headphone jack. I have a leather cover on the iPod, so the binder clip is over that. The sound is back to normal now so I'm happy with this "usermod" fix. If your problem is similar maybe this can help.

  • Creative ZEN Vision:M or 5th Generation iPOD Video ?

So which one would you pick? The ZEN or the iPOD. Yes, I know most people would say the ipod since this is an apple board but this ZEN Vision:M business is pretty awesome.
If you had the option to return your ipod and get the ZEN Vision, would you ? I mean, come on, look at this thing. Its a beast !
I also wanted to ask if anyone owns this thing ? i wanna ask a few questions about. i.e. battery life (since the ipod totally wreaks in that subject), compatability, other things..
      Windows XP
      Windows XP
5th Generation iPOD 30 GB   Windows XP

Re: 4 hours playback... See my explanation about how Creative arrived at their playback times vs. how Apple arrived at theirs. If you want to listen to 64kbps WMA files, and watch 500kbps MPEG4 video, go right ahead. You could get the same result on your iPod listening to 64kbps AAC files and watching 500kbps MPEG4 video.
Re: double the songs... again, see my explanation about how Creative arrived at their 15,000 number vs. how Apple arrived at their 7,500 number (hint: 64kbps WMA files vs. 128kbps AAC files)
Re: more audio formats... yes. the Vision:M adds the ability to play WMA files (the iPod can play MP3 and WAV files)
Re: more video formats... yes. The Vision:M adds the ability to play MPEG1/2, WMV9, Motion-JPEG, and XviD.
Re: FM radio, recorder, voice recorder, yes. Points to Vision:M.
Re: iPod's batter turning red with 2 hours left to go... the battery meter is an estimate, nothing more. If it really bothers you and you can't ignore it, put a piece of black electrical tape over it. My battery meter is fairly accurate, but I've ran my iPod completely dead and charged it up completely 2x since I've bought it. Seems to have helped.
Re: scratching issue.. seems like there were a few people on those engadget posts that were complaining about their Zen (non-vision:M) scratching up pretty bad. My guess is the Vision:M will have the same problems (but that's a guess).
So, summary... If you need a FM radio/recorder, or a voice recorder, or don't want to transcode video you already have in a supported Vision:M format, or have your audio in WMA format, and are willing to deal with the extra width and cost, then the Vision:M might be for you. Be aware that Creative's battery life numbers are even more unapplicable to real-world use than Apple's are (I don't know of anyone that listens to 64kbps music anymore, and who would encode their video at 500kbps MPEG4?).

  • I think the dock on my 5th generation ipod nano is broken. Is there a way that i could fix this?

Every time I try to connect my 5th generation ipod Nano to my computer I get a message that says that the device is unrecognizable. I have tried uninstalling and then reinstalling itunes and I have tried most everything else the Apple Support says to do. I checked my devices on my computer when I had the ipod connected and it said that there was some type of problem with the USB dock on my ipod. other than this I have not had any other problems with this ipod. Is there any way I can fix this without having to get anew ipod?

  • 5th generation ipod replacement battery program

I recently received my new ipod for the 5th generation battery problem. The new ipod I received only holds a charge for a total of 3 hours. I am curious to know if anyone else is having the same problem. For me, the problem really didn't get solved. Apple replaced the ipod with the same problem just a different size. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

It won't do any harm... It will just make it like it was syncing for the first time. Music, video, and picture will be erased and other things will be reset; you will just have to re-tailor it to your liking.
For your situation, however, I don't think it's necessary. How long do you usually get out of it?
