Vostro 3560 - AMD Radeon HD 7670M not working

Hi guys,
I bought an DELL VOSTRO 3560 with Intel and AMD graphic card, but when I trying to run switchable graphic card, it show an error message also when I run any games like (MS Flight simulator X) it don't detect my AMD graphiv card.
also my OS is Windows 7 64bit and I upgrade all drivers.
please see attached picture after I run AMD switchable graphic:

Hi,
Let me try to clarify you. The AMD Radeon HD 7670M works with Intel HD Graphics with a technology called "Enduro" that define (by the system) which graphic will be used in determined conditions.
If you have the "Automatic Windows Update" setted "on", and like Dell did not released any new graphic driver for more than one year, your system will detect (automaticaly) new drives for Intel Graphics HD 4000 and will install them. And it's the cause of your problem. It will mess your graphics configurations.
Like Ravi Chandra stated, you may need to completely unistall all graphics stuff and reinstall last Dell's driver (http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/Product/vostro-3560?driverId=3WKM7&osCode=W764&fileId=3147193857&languageCode=en&categoryId=VI). It will restore your system graphics funcionalities.
To avoid new issues, I would suggest you to read this thread: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3519/t/19486888.aspx?PageIndex=1.
Me and another community member, after the procedure above, have installed AMD Mobiity Graphics Drivers (http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonmob_win7-64.aspx) over the Dell's A04 drivers. And, after installed latest Intel Graphics updates (http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect?iid=dc_iduu).
We kept all graphics devices functionalities with completely updated drives.
Don't ask me why Dell did not release this solution. Me and the rest of world don't know.
Let we know if this solved your issue
Regards.

Install the newest Windows 8 (64-bit) driver for your notebook only from the HP web support download section.
uninstall the drivers for both adapters and the Catalyst Control Center by running the softpaq and choosing uninstall all. Once you have done that run the installer again and (select install all)  install the Catalyst Control Center and the drivers.
The switchable graphics capability makes your notebook require the drivers from HP to achieve the switchable graphics capability.

  • Switchable graphics AMD Radeon HD 6620G/AMD RADEON HD 7670M

I have notebook HP Pavilion dv6-6c05er with integrated in CPU graphics AMD Radeon HD 6620G. It also have AMD RADEON HD 7670M but i cannot switch between them. This is only possible with drivers that was made in 2011. Now 2014. And this is not an isolated case. There is solution for the similar problem with AMD/Intel graphics, but nothing for AMD/AMD...
This situation persists for the second year. How long will it last?

    Hello, @Maxim4ik163
I see that you have an issue with the switchable graphics running on your notebook. I will try to clarify this.
All information can be located in this document: Switchable Graphics on Notebooks Configured with Dual AMD GPUs
I will start with this " i cannot switch between them", if you're referring to switching manually you cannot do this. The graphics aren't meant for you to just switch them at will. The act of the switching is done automatically and only when the application and situation requires.
    What does that mean?
With your notebook, this means that the graphics being used will only switch from intergrated to dedicated if required. With this notebook, that won't actually happen often. This explains why:
This feature is working as intended. The intended behavior of the dual AMD GPU configuration will vary depending on the application:
DirectX 9 applications (such as Street Fighter IV) only use one graphics processor at a time, even though two graphics processors are available. When a discrete graphics processor is paired with an A4-series integrated graphics processor, then data is rendered by the discrete graphics processor. When a discrete graphics processor is paired with an A6/A8-series integrated graphics processor, then data is rendered by the integrated one because it performs better than the discrete in this scenario.
DirectX 10 and DirectX 11 applications use both graphics processors simultaneously to render data.
OpenGL applications use the integrated graphics processors only.
To add to that, your notebook runs on an A8 series CPU. This means that the only time you will ever use discrete is with DX10 and DX11. When that is happening the applications will only reflect the intergrated graphics.
Anything else is explained in the document.
Now as for the driver, unfortunately to my knowledge the only one that works for this setup is what's provided on the HP site. This as you say is out of date. When or if there will be an update (so that applications requesting you to update can run), I don't have that information.
If you still have questions about how this works or the drivers, I recommend contacting phone support.

  • Upgrading My AMD Radeon HD 7670M (1 GB DDR3 dedicated)

    Hi,
My Laptop is HP Pavilion g4-2049tx Notebook PC
    Specs:  http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=uk&lc=en&docname=c03548502
I bought this for gaming. Most of the recent games struggle to play in laptop even in high performance mode. so i decided to upgrade RAM by myself. Initially it was 4GB and now i have upgraded it to 6GB.  Still now it struggles to play. The final option that i have left is to upgrade the graphic processor AMD Radeon HD 7670M (1 GB DDR3 dedicated) in my laptop.  I want to do it by myself.
Can you suggest me which graphic processor should i buy and how to upgrade it by myself ?
    Thanks.
    P. S.
It would be very helpful if i could the help links.

You can't do that in your laptop. The system board is unique to your model specs.

    Hi @AhmedZizo
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you are having trouble after trying to update your video driver for the AMD Radeon 7670M. I am happy to assist you with this. Firstly can you verify the full product number for your notebook, for some reason I did not see that version on the list when I looked for it. Also the operating system in use would be helpful. Please read the following documents if you need help in finding those.
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?
Once I have that I can find the correct driver page for you.
You can check out this page as an FYI.

Another choice would be to try to either reload your old drivers from the recovery partition, or try a system restore in the hopes that  may be all that is necessary. If you  use the System Recovery option just be sure you are only choosing to reload drivers. A full recovery would reimage your hard drive. Just in case you may wish to back up any data on your notebook first.

  • AMD Radeon HD 7670M

I am looking at replacing our laptop, mainly used for travel, with one that is good for CS6 applications but neither very big in screen size nor too heavy ie not a gaming laptop. For Photoshop and many other CS6 applications the Ivy Bridge systems currently being announced seems worth while waiting for.
If possible, I would like a laptop that also supports some use of Premiere Pro (limited by small screen, probably only one disc etc.). I have seen the specification of the 2012 Sony Vaio Z with built-in HD Graphics 4000. A Port Replicator / Docking Station contains the AMD Radeon HD 7670M.
Does anybody know if this card can or will in the future provide GPU/Mercury acceleration for CS6 Premiere Pro?

Can I  change my AMD Radeon HD 7670m Graphics card to Nvidia GTX 980m

  • AMD CCC / switchable graphics not working properly

    Hi all,
ok first of all i read bunch of posts on this forums, and on most of them i saw only responds with links and to download and update drivers - and those things seems not to work for most of people. So i decided to write here a post where someone will actually fix this problem because it is common on most of HP laptops.
First of all, i bought my laptop in Qatar while i was on bussiness there.
    Model: Pavilion dv6-6b20se
    Product Number: A6N20EA#ABV
Graphics: Intel HD 3000 and AMD HD 6490
I bought this computer because im working as an architect and designer and sometimes i need it for rendering, and yea i would like to mention that part time i love to play games. So at that time (2 years ago) and for that money it was pretty decent laptop.
So i've never touched anything myself on laptop, i always let my HP Support Assisstant do the work it is on computer. To be honest i didnt even know that this option of Switchable graphics exist. Until yesterday when i put game to play and i got problem wherever i press ESC it closes came and it crashes.
I googled around and I saw that the problem apears when your graphic card is low.
    Requirements for the game:
    Minimum System Requirements
    MinimumOS: Windows XP SP3 / Windows Vista SP1 / Windows 7
Processor: 1.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or equivalent AMD CPU
Memory: 1 GB RAM for Windows XP / 2 GB RAM for Windows Vista and Windows 7
Graphics: 256 MB (With Pixel Shader 3.0 support)
    DirectX: DirectX 9.0 c compatible
    Hard Drive: 15 GB
    Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible
Supported Chipsets: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 or greater, ATI Radeon X1600 Pro or greater.
Please note that NVIDIA GeForce 7300, 8100, 8200, 8300, 8400, and 9300; ATI Radeon HD3200 and HD 4350 are below minimum system requirements. Updates to the video and sound card drivers may also be required.
    Recommended System Requirements
    OS: Windows XP SP3 / Windows Vista SP1 / Windows 7
Processor: 2.6+ GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or equivalent AMD CPU
    Memory: 2 GB RAM
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT, or better
DirectX: DirectX 9.0c August 2008 (included)
    Hard Drive: 15 GB
    Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible
So by looks of specs here and specs of my computer and the game is like 4 years old, it should fly on my computer.
I googled a bit more and i saw that every program reads only Intel HD graphic card and not AMD. Ok so i went and checked tutorilas on youtube how to switch it and there is where my suprise was. When i open CCC as per everyone on internet i dont have Switchable Graphic option - only Power Play. So i read on your website that some computers need to be set in BIOS from Dynamic which was my original setting to FIXED. I did that to but my option when i right click on desktop for switchable graphics disaper and my CCC is not working.
Ok so i went to your website again, was looking for original drivers for my computer. And there are 3 drivers.
    1.AMD High-Definition Graphics Driver
2.AMD/Intel Switchable High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver
    3.Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver
Ok so when i download them, i can install only No.1, other two i get message that i dont have minimum requirements.
so i checked those to, and it says that  you need to have windows 7 which i have since i got this laptop with original licensed product.
The thing is when i install new version of AMD driver and CCC i get switchable graphics option when i right-click on desktop, but when i get in in CCC i get defoult page and there is no option to switch. When i update intel graphics i loose switching. Either way, it wont work, and im stuck with crappy card that i cant use on bunch of programs and games that i need it for.
So please for once give us a bit detailed answer on how we can fix this. Because it is not only me that have this problem, alot of people are having them and they still cant fix this.
Sorry for my lenghty post, but i thought i needed to explain in more debth.
Thanks in front for reading and takning time to answer.

And yea i forgot one thing. When ever i instal newer version of AMD driver in Device manager it changes from AMD HD 6490M to AMD HD 7400M Series. Dont know why it constatnly does that.

  • AMD Radeon Graphics Card Not Found! Please Help HP Envy M6...

When I head into device manager, it shows that I have only an Inter (R) HD Graphics 4000 graphics card even though the laptop is said to have an AMD Radeon built in... I've upgraded my version of Windows but it doesn't make sense, why does this driver go away? I've reinstalled every driver there is for the AMD series... I can't get my laptop to detect the graphics card, has anyone had this problem? I've seen this on threads too but the answers weren't helpful at all because they just redirected the user with a link to another thread which isn't relating to a graphics card. Is there any way I can fix this so my laptop can detect my graphics card?
Note: When I run AMD's 'automatic driver checker', it CANT EVEN DETECT IT ... Please help me, there's just one too many problems with this laptop aside from the fact that it overheats like crazy.
    Thank you,
    Shehryar.

This is the picture that I've taken, you can see that the Intel HD Graphics 4000 is indeed there however, I found an unknown device at the bottom. There is NO information of this device, here is the 'info' for the unknown device:
    Device type : Other
    Manufacturer : Unknown
Location : On PCI Express Root ComplexUpdate driver will not work. I'll look for more but that's really it... Thanks Shovon_Khan!

  • HDX 9010nr, Radeon 2600 will not work with WIndows 7

Apparently, HP is not going to support the HDX 9010nr for Windows 7.  That's the bad news, the good news is that it "mostly" works.
The only big issue is that the display driver stops every few minutes and then restarts.  So you sit there for thirty seconds while the machine recovers.  But, it doesn’t support a second screen; and worse, every 10th time the video driver crashes; it locks up the whole machine.
ATI has a version of the Radeon 2600 software that worked with the Release Candidate (RC) of Windows 7, but it will not work with the shipped version of Windows 7.  ATI recommends that you get a version from your hardware vendor.  Which brings me back to the first sentence.  HP isn't supporting the 9010nr.
The question is do any of the "supported" HP laptops have the ATI Radeon 2600?  If so, might that work on the HDX 9010nr?
    This question was solved.

  • Windows 8.1 and AMD Radeon HD 7670M

Since the Windows 8.1 update I have a really stupid problem on my Pavilion g7-2210sm. (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03555012&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=us&dlc=en...)
All of the games that were on my PC - Skyrim, DARK, TW: Rome 2, PES 14... - all run at a maximum of 5 fps, obvious sign that only Intel GPU is used. Changing from Power Saving to High Performance in CCC is as useful as hitting the notebook with a hammer .
HP did put a driver for windows 8.1 on support page but what that driver does is that it only helps windows indentify my dedicated gpu and then ignore it completely. I should also say that this driver is not really win 8.1 but rather just a copy of driver made for win 8 almost a year ago!!
To test things i formatted my system hard drive, installed Win 8 Pro, installed all drivers from support page then installed games again and all worked fine, uninstalled games, updated to Win 8.1 Pro, installed the (useless) driver, installed games and back to 5 fps.
My question is will HP ever produce some kind of real Windows 8.1 driver or should i just go sell my notebook and buy from some company that actually has product support that lasts longer than 2 weeks?

    Dear Friends,
    I have HP Envy 6-1106TX. I'm Official win8. Last week after frequent pop ups from windows store that update to win8.1, I finally clicked OK and updated the my genuine windows 8 to 8.1. Installation is smooth and after that my notebook remains very hot. Before update and after updates are as follows;
    Battery backup-----------> B: 5-8Hrs------> A: 2Hrs
    CPU Temp (Idle) ----------->  B: 50C------> A: 60C
    CPU Temp (Load)-----------> B: 75~80C -----> After: 90-100C
Although CPU performance is little down. while gaming, a little laggy. (I don't game much)
Sometimes got stuck. while on Win 8 never got stuck.
I think that the problem is that both GPUs are active at the same time. That's why Note Book got very very hot and consumes a lot of battery.
Device Manager is not able to detect my ATI Readon 7670M, it's just showing ATI 7600.
I think drivers are not competible and that's why there is all that problem.
I have tried solution that posted by victorx1, but still the problem was same.
Although windows 8.1 features are very impressive but I have to go back to Windows 8 because of that problem.
After degrading to Win 8. everything is normal.
Any one will help me, is there any official drives updated by HP to solve this issue?
or they are just ignoring us and we have to stuck with windows 8.

  • Early 2008 Mac Pro + ATI Radeon HD 4870 = Not working

Just took delivery of my new HD 4870 video card today. I installed it in my Early 2008 Mac Pro and booted up. I got a picture no problem on one monitor, but nothing on the other. Furthermore, the display perfpane was missing a lot of controls, like Arrangement and Detect Displays and whatnot.
I did a bunch of rebooting and swapping of cables, and determined that both the mini-display port and the standard DVI connection will drive a monitor. However, if both are plugged in, the only active display is the one plugged into the mini-display port, and there's no option to setup the secondary display.
So I booted into bootcamp, and it automatically recognized both display ports, and mirrored my desktop on both monitors. I downloaded and installed the latest windows drivers, rebooted the machine into windows once more, and was able to configure a multiple monitor display with no problem.
This tells me it's not the card and it's not the motherboard.
Booting back into mac OS, I discovered that it doesn't even recognize that the card has video ram. It thought I had no video ram in the system.
So, this all leads me to the conclusion that Apple shipped me a card that it has not yet provided driver support for.
Hey Apple, can I have my 4870 display driver now?

    Hi again,
It was funny to read all your answers on my iPhone while away from my computer. I could have reply on the iPhone but I preferred to wait to give you all the procedure I used to install the beta driver successfully this morning.
To start, I found this link:
    http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=155477
and followed the "4870 INSTRUCTIONS", starting like suggested by doing the "First, follow the 4850 INSTRUCTIONS above"... (See the link)
I would like also to specify that I did this without having installed the card physically yet. So I kept my HD 2600 in the computer, followed all the steps excepted for the step 3:
    3. Reboot with -f -v (kextcache/verbose mode)
There is no -f nor -v switches available for the reboot command at the shell prompt. I simply rebooted as usual "Pomme -> Redémarrer".
After the reboot, all my software was still working as expected with my HD 2600 card, meaning that these steps are specific and active only for the HD 4870 when it's detected at boot-up.
You may have to Google for the string "Kext" in order to get the application to install the file ATY_Motmot.kext. For your information, ATY_Motmot filename is the same string as the one found under "System Information ->PCI cards" under "Name".
    I get:
    ATI Radeon HD 4870:
    Name: ATY, Motmot
The article is not clear regarding where to find the OpenGL.framework to backup before installing the downloaded one. I found mine under:
    /Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.5.sdk/System/Library/Frameworks/OpenGL.framework
After having shutdown the computer, just after the reboot that proofed everything was ok, I removed the original HD 2600 card and put back the new HD 4870 and boot up...
Then I check the "System Information" and found both "Quartz Extreme" and "Core image" supported!
    I launched Aperture, got it!
I launched Final Cut Express, got it!
I launched Starry Night Pro Plus, got it! Then I checked the OpenGL settings in Starry Night Pro PLus and activated both options:
    Use shaders where available
Use AllSky shader (Not compatible with all hardware)
When I was doing these actions with my original HD 2600 card, the software was giving me a warning that my hardware did not support these options and that it could crash.
This time, with the HD 4870, it accepted my settings and give me back a very beautiful blue sky with much more shades!
So in conclusion, it works very smoothtly with my system and I am writing this with two monitors, having bought the MiniDP to DVI adapter this afternoon
    I am happy!
P.S.: A girl from Apple support called me back this afternoon regarding my problem. She was very happy two when I told her that I did apply the beta driver and that it was working very well...
    Good luck and best regards...
