Vox Tonelab SE as foot controller for MainStage 2.

Hi,
I am completely new to MIDI. I'm a guitarist and I want to use a Vox Tonelab SE (which I already own, as well as a Roland UM-One MIDI interface) to control Mainstage 2.
What I'm asking is if the Tonelab is ready to change patches as well as changing fx (turning stompboxes on/off individually), or will I have to buy a new foot controller?
Mainstage seems really easy to use, but I am not getting any results.
Thanks in advance,
Jorge

Yes, provided you don't need really tight timing.  If you do, you may still be able to do it by chaining triggers through your acquisition and generation devices.  Look at the sequence break step and the digital triggering options for your devices.  If you need more info, let us know and give us a bit more information about what devices you are using.

How to program a midi foot controller on Mainstage? Does anyone knows how to program the foot controller with exclusive solo channel in order not to dance "tip tap" while from clean guitar I go to crunch or solo? How to do this programming on Mainstage?
I basically managed to learn how to invert parameters which allows me to be as default in the clean guitar channel and if I switch the first button on the midi foot controller I switch to crunch, but at this point I tryied so hard to programm the second and third button to switch, only through a button in one step, to a third channel for distorsion or a 4th channel for solo guitar but I couldn't figured out how this work can be done!
I would appreciate if anyone could help or share this experience with others who are experiencing the same problem.
    Cheers.

I cannot seem to get mainstage to recognize my FCB either. I am using IFCB. Anyone figure this out?

  • Foot pedal with Mainstage

I am new to mainstage and am using it to trigger the playing of drum and bass backing tracks. I want to use a foot pedal to trigger this. Is this pedal an USB pedal? Could someone recommend a foot pedal? I don't need a lot of controls just a simple pedal. Thank you.

    I wish.
There is a shortage of usb pedals.
'sposed to be some coming out soon.
One called... um, I can't remember exactly. Something french with "II" (It's either the pi symbol or roman 2, it's unclear and very hard to google) in the name.
there is the "midi solutions" route, a box that converts expression pedal info to midi. google it.
there are a bunch of non-music related usb foot controller devices that might work for you.

  • Axium 61 + Behringer FCB1010 Midi Foot Controller

I'm thinking of using a Behringer FCB1010 Midi Foot Controller with my Axium 61 through Mainstage. I'm hoping to control volume, expression, and patch changes with the foot controller. Has anyone had any luck with a combination like this? Any suggestions? Also, is it better to run a keyboard through the PA or to buy a keyboard amp?
    Thanks!

I'm using very similar setup with Oxygen 49 + FCB1010 and it works a treat. I can't recommend it highly enough. Also strongly recommend UNO firmware for FCB1010, adding "stompbox mode" amongst other things. I have control over volume, patch changes and mainstage fx pedalboard via FCB1010 and simultaneous parameter control via faders, knobs & buttons on Oxygen. Faders double as drawbars for my hammond sound.
I'm using a neat little edirol firewire card with 4 analog outs & 2 ins. Bass & mic go into inputs. Both are processed and amped in mainstage. Keys and bass both go to PA from outputs 1 + 2. Vocals go to PA from output 3. All go to my monitor (behringer powered speaker) from output 4.
Oxygen is hooked up to a bass sound, while all other voices are played with M Audio 88 note. I play all the time in several bands and am delighted with this set up

  • Connecting Vox ToneLab to Mac Mini

I have a Vox ToneLab that I would like to use to record guitar in Garageband on my Mac Mini. I believe that I could use an iMic to accomplish this, however, I am a little confused as to what cables or adapters I would need. The ToneLab has a 1/4" phones out and two 1/4" mono line outs. Would it be better to use the phones output or the line outs? Do I just need some sort of 1/4" to 1/8" adapter to connect into the iMic? Thanks in advance.
Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

You figured it all out yourself.
    Line-Out -> 1/4" to 1/8" adaptor -> iMic -> USB Port on the Mini
    Will work fine

  • Best USB-MIDI interface to connect Yamaha MFC10 foot controller to MacBook Air

    Hi guys,
I would like to buy a Yamaha MFC10 MIDI foot controller. It has a number of advantages over other foot controllers. For instance: you can connect up to four additional expression pedals to the foot controller, which is something I might need in the future, so it's better to invest in this product so I am prepared for the future.
The thing is, I want to connect this MIDI controller to a USB port on my MacBook Air. What is the best USB-MIDI interface to get in this situation?
I love to hear your thoughts on this.
    Cheers!
    Best regards,
    Theo

Did you set midi communications to USB? I think by default it may be set to the MIDI port on the back. You need USB.
    Press Utilities, then MIDI (F6).

  • Logic can't read CC#4 foot controller ?

Logic can't read CC#4 foot controller message from the loops you need to
change them CC#1 Mod.. Why??? it is a GB Instrument and it works in GB
and it was never address fixed..

Please read page 441 of the Instruments manual, which explains this:-
Remapping of Pitch Bend and Modulation Wheel Events
In order to create realistic-sounding performances in an easy and intuitive way, the
Jam Pack 4 (Symphony Orchestra) instruments use the modulation wheel to switch
between articulations (legato, staccato, and so on) and the pitch bend wheel to
change expression (crescendo, diminuendo, and so on). Further information about
this can be found in the Jam Pack 4 documentation.
This is achieved by internally remapping pitch bend events to MIDI controller 11 and
modulation wheel events to MIDI controller 4. To ensure compatibility with the Jam
Pack 4 instruments, the EXS24 mkII automatically uses this remapping behavior for
    Jam Pack 4 instruments.
You can also use this remapping model for other instruments by activating the Map
Mod & Pitch Wheel to Ctrl 4 & 11 setting in the Instrument menu.
The EXS24 mkII will remap incoming pitch bend and mod wheel events to controller
11 or controller 4, respectively. The default pitch bend and modulation wheel
    functionality can not be used.

  • Volume pedal and foot switch for the Keystation 61es

    Hello!
Is there a way to add a volume pedal and a foot switch (for patch changes) to the Keystation 61es (using a MacBook with MainStage 2)?
I know that the software will be able to recognize the pedals, but there are no ports on the Keystation for them. I was hoping that there might be a USB MIDI interface for pedals, or a volume/foot switch USB MIDI pedal.
    Thanks!

Yeah, I don't play piano parts on the 88es. Have and bring 88-key weighted hammer action for that. Turns out the extra keys on the 88es aren't just for notes that are heard. Key switching presets in EVB3, or switching from legato mode to poly... You can use those extra keys for all kinds of stuff, including patch up/down... That's the power of MainStage... If the song is really busy, there's more keys to map out different zones to...
I compensate for the lack of knobs and switches, and not having aftertouch either by having a novation remote sl61 mk2 in the live rig, no shortage of knobs, sliders after that!
So, my live rig consists of 3 controllers, plus the FCB...
The FCB1010 is cool, replaced three volume pedals and three sustains pedals with it. Replaced the standard ROM with the UNO chip, some gotchas in this as well, but so far with a little thinking and creative reassigning in MainStage and it all works. No USB MIDI on the thing, so I had to try several USB <> MIDI interfaces until I found one that worked that also supported external programming of the thing... But... I use it and it works, is heavy, stays put and I don't have to "chase" pedals moving around on the floor while I play!
Still amazed that m-audio thought there was any benefit to saving one input jack on that back panel, would have thought it was more economical to have the same assemble in both the 61 and the 88, with the only difference being number of keys...
Hope this all helps, ping if you have any questions!

  • Midi Foot Controller

    Hi,
I want to be able to plug a midi foot controller into Logic to use as a keyboard for my feet. This is so I can play simple bass lines like peeps used to do with the Moog Taurus.
Tech 21 do a pedal called the Midi Moose which looks ideal as I only need 4 or 5 different notes per song.
Does anyone know if this possible to do?
    If so, how?
If not, any suggestions that don't involve spending lots on a Moog Taurus?
    Thanks.

I think what you need is something like this:
    http://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i-ROL-PK5A-LIST
That MIDI Moose looks like just six (or seven? or five?) on/off switches.
Sure you can transform the messages it sends to notes, in the Environment, but you will have only 6 (or 5?) notes of fixed velocity - very limiting.
But, if six notes is all you need, it can be done, absolutely.

  • Using a Behringer FCB 1010 foot controller with Logic Pro

I am trying to develop an interactive live processing set-up using Logic Pro and, for the time being, a Behringer FCB 1010 foot controller. So far I having zero success. Can someone offer a suggestion as to how to program this controller to do even the simplest function, like controlling the volume of a channel strip with one of the Berhringer's continuous controller pedals?
    Best regards, Dan
    Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Thank you both for your input. I am back on the case again, this time with a fully functioning FCB1010. Right ou of the box the pedal does successfully send volume and pan with expression pedal a and b respectively.
What I would next like to accomplish is to have exp. ped. b now control a plug-in parameter instead, the pedal range on the fuzz-wah plug-in of Logic Pro 7 for expample.
When I use Automation Quick Access to edit the assignment of ped. b as Bryan suggested, Logic appears to be receiving the info from ped. b and creating the new assignment (as indicated in the Controller Assignments window), and yet the actual functionality doesn't change, that is, ped. b continues to control pan.
    Any suggestions?
    Best regards, Dan

  • I want to trigger samples or tracks in GB 08 with a midi foot controller

I am trying to utilize my macbook with GB08 to keep my investment low for mow. I am thinking of purchasing a midi foot controller like the Roland FC300 or the Behringer FCB1010 to trigger playing of tracks during a live performance. These sounds that I want to trigger are mostly keyboard/synth/horn parts.
How can I do this? I know I will need to also purchase a midi to usb interface. Is this possible?
Our guitar player has cubase that we could load onto the macbook. Will this work better?
Please help me out here. Looking to fill out our sound - Classic rock cover band - bass, guitar, drums, & a singer. We have given up on finding a decent & reliable key player.
    Thanks!

    Hello.
I don't have Amplitude. But with NI GuitarRig I do like this:
    1. Select an AUDIO track. Set the input of the track to match the incoming (clean) signal from your guitar.
Set an appropriate recording level on your audio interface (Like -10 to -6 db on the peaks).
Turn down the volume on the AUDIO track.
    2. Select an AUDIO INSTRUMENT track. In the instrument pop-up-menu select "AU Midi controlled FX", and then select Guitar RIg2 MFX (Hopefully you will find Amplitude here).
    3. Read the manual and learn how to route midi from your "Ground Control MIDI foot controller" to the Amplitude Plug-in.
    4. Near the top on your Plug-in window you will find the Side Chain Button. Press, Hold and select the input of incoming signal from your guitar. (The same input as in step 1).
You should now hear you guitar playing thru your plug-in and you should be able to midi-control whatever you want.
    To make a recording:
    5. Let the AUDIO INSTRUMENT track remain selected. SHIFT-Click the rec-button on the AUDIO track (I have to click twice to get both the channel and the button selected).
    6. Record (and don't forget to use your midi controler).
    7. You will now have an audio recording with your clean guitar signal on the AUDIO track + a recording with the mididata on the AUDIO INSTRUMENT track.
    To hear the recording:
    8. Go to your Plug-in window Side Chain Button. Change the input to match the track where you just recorded the clean guitar signal.
    9. Listen and Enjoy
    10. Please tell me there is an easier way to do this.
    Good Luck,

And if so what apps are supported.
And will gta 3, vice city, San Andreas and dead trigger 2 work with it.

The only game I know of that does this is "The Incident" - it's not a built-in iOS feature. The developers of that game specifically have allowed it.

I purchased the Logitech F310 game controller for my 2011 MacBook Pro. How do I get the driver installed for it. The Disk that came with the controller is a mini disk and will not insert into my laptop.

May not make a difference anyway. The Logitech support site does not show drivers for Mac OS for the F310:
    http://www.logitech.com/en-us/support/gamepad-f310?crid=411
I'd contact their support to find out if there is a Mac driver available, and if they can either give you a web link to get it, e-mail you the software, or snail-mail you a standard-size disk with the drivers.
