Voyager 220v and Homehub 2 connection

I would like to connect my old Voyager 220v to my HomeHub 2 (main router) as an access point elsewhere (outside HH2 wireless range) in my house. The V220v and the HH2 would be connected by domestic "powerline" connections
Is that possible?  If so, how?
Tips, suggestions and "instructions for dummies" much appreciated!

Yes, if you follow my instructions on the following page, it will work. The Voyager 220V is very similar to the Voyager 2091.

  • Voyager 220v Router - How to connect 2nd. computer...

I have already installed the USB drivers from the setup CD and my main computer is successfully connected via the USB port on the 220v Router.
I now want to add a laptop and I understand that this can just be directly connected using the Ethernet cable without needing to install anything else. So the setup CD does not need to be inserted in the drive.
    Is this correct?
Can I insert the Ethernet plug in the router socket without having to switch the router off?

    Thanks John.
Just one query arises from your answer though. You say connect both by ethernet for better connection but the Voyager 220v only has one USB port and one Ethernet port.
On the BT Business Forums someone asked the same question and a BT Employee said to use the other computer connected to the other port.
    BT Business Forum
The other computer I want to connect to the ethernet port will be in the region of 10 to 15 metres away using an extension lead with coupler so that will have to be on the ethernet port anyway to avoid loss of signal.

  • Adding wireless capability to Voyager 220V

My father has a Voyager 220V router - can I call it a router as it connects to only a single PC? Anyway, I would like to know how to add wireless functionality to it. If it had more than one network port, i.e. what I would expect a router to have there would be no problem - I'd add a Netgear wireless hub. So, all suggestions would be welcome. Richard

Presumably he could use any (proper) router in place of the Voyager - at the cost of losing the VOIP functio?
What would those WiFi laws be then?
The point of adding wireless capability is to make use of the portability of my mother's new laptop.  I don't fancy installing CAT5 and sockets throughout every room of their house - it was bad enough doing it in my own place.
    Richard
You could try adding a DSL router as per my previous link but if the new router isn't fully compatible the VOIP system may not work anyway.
Make sure if using Wifi to use WPA2-PSK encryption with a strong passphrase.

Just connect it to a computer's USB port.
Most wall chargers are dual voltage (110- 220 volts) and only require a plug adopter. Check the wall charger to see if yours is.

  • BT FON Laptop and Android phone connection

Can anyone help I am trying to connect my laptop to my BT FON wireless connection that is advertised by my BT homehub2.  The regular wireless is working and I can connect without any problem, but when I try to use the BTFON or BT Openzone networks neither will work!
Tried following BTs instructions for connecting manually, connect to the network then use https://www.btopenzone.com:8443 in a browser and enter user name and password.  But the laptop could not access the website.
The assigned IP address when connected to the BTFON network is 196.254.35.219, subnet 255.255.0.0 but no gateway?
To add to this i can't get my android phone to connect using these wifi networks, again I have no problem connecting with the regular wireless from the homehub.  The phone trys to connect and it says an IP address is being allocated but it times out then trys again.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

  • Blackerry Playbook and Homehub 3

Hey everyone, new to the forums, but thought this might be the best place to get a bit of advice
Just got a Blackberry Playbook today, its pretty cool, but having some problems with wifi connections... I have BT Infinity with a Homehub 3, and initially I had a bit of a problem getting the Playbook to connect to the homehub, but after resetting the homehub it connected no problem.
It was working fine for a few hours and now its disconnected again, I was wondering if anyone had a solution to why it keeps disconnecting? When I go into "wifi" on the Playbook, my network shows up with no problems, but doesnt connect... it also says the network is "open" and doesnt require a password, but it does have WPA2 protection.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hey, thanks for the reply guys. Oh I got mine from currys for £169 very pleased with it, its a great little device I have had it working with the internet, but the connection seems to "time out" when i don't use it for an hour or so... Sometimes it works again just by turning the wifi on the playbook off and then back on again, but other times it won't work at all, it just says the Hub3 is an "open" network and it can't connect to it.
Im going to try and delete all Hub3 data and comnect with the WPS, I did try the WPS function  a few times, but it wouldn't get past the IP allocation stage.
I had thought about changing to WEP, but there are a lot of devices in my house running off the wifi, the rest all work fine, so don't want to risk disrupting them just for the playbook.
I was wondering if other devices in the house could disrupt the playbooks connection? I sometimes think theres far too many wifi devices in our house :/

A factory reset will remove it, but it does not take any bandwidth unless you are on a call, and then its is only a very small amount.
Do you have a speed problem?

  • Ok so we bought an ipodtouch for my daughter and when she connected to the computer all of a sudden she lost all her pics and she can no longer connect to the app store on  her ipod.. any suggestions why and what can be done?

ok so we bought an ipod touch for my daughter and when she connected it to the computer after she downloaded itunes, she was asked if it was her ipod or a new one, so she clicked on her ipod and lost all her recent pics plus is unable to locate the app store on her safari on her ipod touch. any suggestions as to what went wrong or what should be done ? should we restore or what?
much appreciated if there is anyone else who had this happen to them.

    - The iPod got erased since it sounds iTunes identified that the iPod has been synced with another computer and she said yes to making this computer her syncing computer. It could also she restored the iPod from the backup of another iPod, iPhone or iPad that was in iTunes. If in iTunes you go to Preferences>Devices is there a backup listed for her iPod with a date/time when she first connected the iPod to the computer. If so then restore the iPod from that backup.
    iOS: How to back up
Note synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup,
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    - Regarding the App store. The App store is not in Safari. It is a separate app. Also, could the Apple store be hidden by Restrictions? Settings>General>Restrictions. Further, can you find the App store via the Spotlight search on the iPod?

  • Why can't I connect to my shared computers for file sharing;I have 3 Macs and I can connect the other 2 but not my new Macbook air.

I have a black Macbook 4,1 running 10.7.5, an iMac 11,3 running 10.7.5 and a new Macbook Air 6,2 running 10.9.5., I have file sharing turned on on all machines. All machines are visible and I can connect all machines except for the Macbook Air. The Macbook air can see the other 2 Macs but does not connect to either of them or even give me the option to connect as a guest or a registered user. The other Macs connect to the Macbook Air but it will not connect with them. Any help is appreciated. Thank You.

  • Cannot refresh table - test connection works fine but refresh gives "We couldn't refresh the connection. Please go to existing connections and verify they connect to the file or server." error.

I'm having some difficulty updating a table in my powerpivot data model. The data for the table is stored in a local excel file; if I go to
Existing Connections select the connection and do a test then everything is successful. When however I try to refresh that particular table I get the following error:
"We couldn’t refresh the connection. Please go to existing connections and verify they connect to the file or server."
In the past I had this and it was an authentication issue, the files are stored on SharePoint and I wasn't logged in to Sharepoint - I have however checked this and it can't be the issue because I have other tables linked to other excel files in the same
location that are refreshing without issue. Can anyone think of what may be causing it?
I have even tried creating a new local excel with the same data, added it to the data model and then tried a refresh and I I get exactly the same issue.
Are there any known issues with refreshing data from an Excel file if, after the initial import, you add columns to the table in the excel file I was wondering if this might contribute?
    Thanks

    Hi Maracles,
    Thanks for your post.
From your description, I tried to reproduce this issue on my test environment. However, everything is fine for me. Could you please post the specific version of SQL Server PowerPivot for Excel?
You can try to use a trace file to troubleshoot errors in PowerPivot. If this issue still persists, please try to reinstall SQL Server PowerPivot for Excel to see if this helps.

  • I am using an iphone 3g and when i connect my device to my laptop a dialog box appears saying that an update of 4.2 is available so went for it.after the firmware is downloaded via itunes it shows that the firmware is invalid!.please help.

HEY GUYS I AM USING AN IPHONE  3g and when i connect my device to my laptop a dialog box appears saying that an update of 4.2 is available so went for it.after the firmware is downloaded via itunes it shows that the firmware is invalid!.please help.
AND ALSO I HAVE HEARD THAT THE IPHONE 3G CANNOT BE UPDATED TO IOS 4.2!IS IT TRUE???
    PLEASE HELP ME.

This means that the phone you have was software unlocked to use on any carrier, or hacked. When you installed the update it restored the lock that originaly came with your phone. Not much you can do now. Apple will not support hacked phones. You will need to find out the carrier your phone is locked to and see if they offer official unlocking, or start googling to see if you can find a way to unlock 4.2.
