Voyager - BOXI 3.1 SP3

I wanted to know the new features in Voyager for BOXI3.1 SP3 ( Like...What's new in Voyager SP3).
I downloaded "Whats new in BOXI 3.1 SP3" document. In that Under Chapter 3 - "New Features in Existing Products" i didn't find any new feature for Voyager.
Question: Can i assume there is no enhancement / new features included in Voyager for BOXI 3.1 Service Pack 3.
Current Environment: BOXI 3.1 Service Pack1.
Please advice. Thank you

I would not expect to see any new features regarding Voyager in the future since SAP is focusing on Pioneer (Advanced Analysis) as the future OLAP tool.
Still SP3 and future SPs and FPs will probably contain bug fixes also for Voyager. These should be listeed in the Fixed issues list documentation.

Hi Folks,
Currently we are using BOXI 3.1 SP3 and Netweaver 7.1c in our Project. Our Client is planning to move from Netweaver 7.1 c to Netweaver 7.3. This move is not a upgrade they are going to remove Netweaver 7.1 c first and then installing Netweaver 7.3 freshly.
SAP has suggested to upgrade from BOXI 3.1 SP3 to BOXI 3.1 SP4 for Netweaver 7.3.
will this upgrade impact existing environment? If yes, please provide me necessary precautions to minimize the efforts.

Hi,
if you have an integration from your SAP Portal to BOE i would recommend you take a backup of the web.xml file for openDoc and InfoView. Afterwards you can start the installation of SP4.

Also, you may be required to put on a newer service pack to maintain support. For example, if SP6 is released then I believe you'll either need to have SP6 or SP5 for support.

Moving to a new CAS box exchange 2010 sp3 ru6

I am entertaining the idea of creating a second CAS box for our environment.
in the current environment
we have:
All servers have Exchange 2010 sp3 RU6
Ex1 (physical box) - have HUB/Transport/DAG with Ex2
Ex2 (physical box) - have HUB/Transport/DAG with Ex1
CAS1 (VM on hyper v 2008r2 cluster) - Client access role
outlook 2010 profiles all point to cas1
what I want to achieve is to build a cas2 box on a new hyper cluster. we v have a hyper v 2012r2 cluster that has a different ip scheme (cas1 ip is 12.12.100.x, and cas2 would have 12.12.103.x)
what would I need to do in order to get my users to point to the new cas box. downtime is not a major issue. but I want to make sure that if I build cas2, it would prevent cas1 from working and users getting mail. I am sadly unfamilure
because I did not set up the ex1/2 or the cas box. I have only ever installed SPs and RUs.
I have no existing CAS Array.
I would happy to read any setup docs, or anything of that nature if you have links available.

Hi,
You need to install CAS2 in existing exchange environment and need to move\change URLs OWA,EWS,Autodiscover , ActiveSync, outlookanywhere, OAB , SSL certifcates and your DNS IPs to point new CAS2.

'BOXI3.1 SP3' select box limitations

Hi All,
This is regarding character limitation in Universe Designer BOXI 3.1 SP3 for an object in the select box.
Environment:
     BOXI3.1 SP3
Issue:
     We are hardcoding the list of values in @prompt function. If I check the number of characters in the select box, we are using around 2,58,552 characters. While in Business Objects, the number of characters accepted in the select box of the object are around 28000 (without space).
Require help on:
     . Are there any limitations with the number of characters that can be used in the select box of the object in Universe Designer?
     . Is there any way we could modify the limitation?

     We cannot hardcode the list of values at the database level. In this case we will have to include the table at the universe level and incase this is combined with any other query it will result into cartesian product as there is no link with the values with any other object.

This continues for another 50 times for other 50 list of values which select other 50 classes.
Now, in this creates it creates a cartesian product when we try to display the list of value for this object '<test>'.
This list of values table cannot be linked to any other table.

BOXI sever unavailable after Java SDK install

I recently installed the Java SDK on a platform running BOXI 3.1 SP3. During the install, I de-selected the Enterprise options (per the install doc). Subsequent to the install, I no longer had access to the BOXI. Upon review, it seems that the custom install removed the exec files for all of the client programs, along with the exec for SIA, CMC.url, InfoView.url, and Tomcat.
However, with the exception of the above files and service, the installation directory in intact, along with the File Store and CMSC. What is the recommended procedure to restore the missing elements? I figure I'll have to initiatie the custom install to recapture Tomcat, but what about the exec files? Will a custom install add only the missing elements, or re-install the entire server? Thanks in advance for you help.

The instructions you followed were likely for installing on a new machine, not for an existing install. The items that are selected are what will be installed after you run the installation, so removing options I believe will remove those from the installation. It may be best to ask this in the architecture forum [here|Business Intelligence Solution Architecture; or to create a case with support.

Compatibility BOXI Deski and BO 6.5.

My question coul be strange but it is possible to connect with a BOXI deski to a BO 6.5 repository?

No, it is not possible.
BO XI tools cannot connect to 6.5 repo, nor 6.5 tools to XI ....

BOXI R2 SP4 on Windows 2000 SP4 and Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 2

I have a customer that has BOXI R2 SP4 installed on Windows 2000 SP4. He is aware that Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 is not supported for BOXI R2 SP4 but he is not able to find I.E SP2 for Windows 2000 SP4. What can he do as he is experiencing some inconsistencies in Webintelligence?
I have suggested already to:
downgrade BOXI R2 to SP3 and use the line 3 of code as this supports I.E. SP1
upgrade the O/S to XP and use BOXI R2 SP4 and I.E. SP2

I don't see any reason to downgrade BOXi R2 to SP3.
While Microsoft will continue to support Windows 2000 till 2010, BO advises recommends that customers be on the latest SP. In your customer's case, this will not be possible. Also tech support will require one to be on the latest SP before they will troubleshoot any issues. ADAPT resolution also requires on to be on the latest SP.
I think it prudent to upgrade the OS (on the clients) to XP.

Issues after upgrade r2-- 3.1, SP3

Hello experts,
M client has just recently upgraded form BOXI r2 to BOXI 3.1, SP3 no fix pack. I am having hundreds of reports that have been migrated from the old system. So far, I can say that 80% of the reports seem to be working fine, but the other 20% or so we have user's that are unable to open the report. The system just thinks, then ultimately hangs.
I personally have not had any issue opening any of the reports. I have taken these reports and have had to rebuild them from scratch. After I rebuild, the users are able to open the reports fine. Is this common, rights issue (i think that we are in a user group and all rights for me should be the same for everyone.)?
Hoping to get some feedback from any members that have maybe faced a similar issue.

Error publishing reports from BW

Hi,
I am facing some issues while publishing reports from BW system. I have taken care of all the settings mentioned in Integration Kit guide. We are using BOXI 3.1 SP3 OS:windows 2008 (64-bit)
The error that we are getting is:
"0000000001 An error occurred when retrieving the role metadata for YBW_BO_CONTENT_PUBLISHER. Returned with RFC code 18 and message: See RFC trace file or SAP system log for more details"
I have enabled the trace also, still not able to find the root cause.
Need help urgently. Thanks.

I have matched the auth. as per the admin guide, everything is fine with the role. I have checked the trace file logs, part of which is below:

I have installed BOXI 3.1 SP3, including the .NET SDK, and I am trying to use the Report Engine SDK part to navigate through a WebIntelligence document (analyse its structure, etc.), via a Console App.
I built my console app targeting .NET framework 3.5, and compiled it in 32 bits mode (x86 platform). I can access the standard SDK without any problem and log in to the CMS then retrieve any InfoObject instances from my enterprise server.
My problem occurs when I try to access my BusinessObjects.ReportEngine.IReportEngine instance's members. Sample lines of code:

Enterprise / ReportEngine SDK is not supported / tested / compatible with desktop / console apps.
Could you try the same logic with a web services sdk, as WebServices SDk is the only SDK which could be used to develop thick client apps.

Data Services and Data Quality Recommnded Install process

Hi Experts,
I have a few questions. We have some groups that have requested Data Quality be implemented along with another request for Data Services to be implemented. I've seen the requested for Data Services to be installed on the desktop, but from what I've read, it appears to be best to install this on the server side to allow for more of a central benefit to all.
My questions are:
1. Can Data Services (Server) install X.1 3.2 be installed on the same server as X.I 3.1 SP3 Enterprise?
2. Is the Data Services (CLIENT) Version dependent on if the Data Services (Server) install is completed? Basically can the u201CData Services Designeru201D be used without the Server install?
3. Do we require a new License key for this or can I use the Enterprise Server license key?
4. At this time we are not using this to move data in and out of SAP, just using this to read data that is coming from SAP.
From what I read, DATA Services comes with the SAP BusinessObjects Data Integrator or SAP BusinessObjects Data Quality Management solutions. Right now it's seems we dont have a need for the SAP Connection supplement, but definetly something we would implement in the near future. What would be the recommended architecture? A new Server with tomcat and cmc (seperate from our current BOBJ Enterprise servers)? or can DataServices be installed on the same?

Hope you are referring to BOE 3.1 (Business Objects Enterprise) and BODS (Business Objects Data Services) installation on the same server machine.
Am not an expert on BODS installation.
But this is my observation :
We had recently tested on a test machine BOE BOXI 3.1 SP3 (full build) installation before upgrade of our BOE system.
We also have BODS in our environment.
Which we also wanted to check whether we could keep on the same server.
So on this test machine, which already has BOXI 3.1 SP3 build, when i installed BODS server installation,
what we observed was that,
all the menus of BOE went away
and only menus of BODS were seen.
May be BODS installation overwrites/ or uninstalls BOE, if it already exists ?
I dont know. Though i could not fine any documentation, saying that we cannot have BODS and BOE on the same server machine. But this is what we observed.
So we have kept BODS and BOE on 2 different machines running independently and we do not see any problem.

Query level filter not working in Webi report

I am using BOXI R3.1 (SP3), m facing one problem when refreshing Webi report on daily basis. I am using three query level filter as a prompt, but i checked one filter is not working then i need to reapply this filter and rest 2 filter is working fine.
Can anyone suggest me why problem is coming?

Hi,
Prompts are interactive, and come from the query panel. Filters are not interactive, and are set on the report or block. There are also input controls, which are interactive filters
1. Select the universe in the list of universes to open the Query Panel.
2. Drag the Year object to the Result Objects pane.
3. Drag the Number of Guests object to the Query Filters pane and create a report filter that restricts Number of Guests to greater than n.
4. Click Combined Query.
The Combined Query pane appears in the bottom left of the Query panel with the two queries joined by UNION.
5. Click on the second query and remove the Year and Number of Guests objects.
6. Drag the Reservation Year object to the Result Objects pane.
7. Drag the Future Guests object to the Query Filters pane and create a report filter that restricts the future guests to greater than n.
8. Click Run Query.

Failed to open the connection after changing the connection in CMC

Below are our environment details:
BOXI 3.1 SP3
Solaris Sparc 10
Crystal Reports 2008 Sp3
Weblogic 11g
Our team is facing the problem as described below:
We have created Crystal Reports using JDBC connection and it works fine
in an environment(SIT).
When we migrate these reports to the another environment(UAT) we get
the error "Failed to open the connection"
After migrating we indeed change the connection to Custom Database
Login Information in CMC.
So to troubleshoot we installed Crystal Reports in UAT environment and
had to perform Set DataLocation after which
the reports starting working fine.
Now when we are migrating reports to Production we have the same issue.
We cannot install Crystal Reports on Production this time and hence we
are stuck.
Please let us know if any known workaround or solution for the same.

I am not 100% sure I understood the workaround of having Crystal Designer on the server. Can you connect from UAT designer to production and perform the same operation?
