VP6 and AAC

Is it possible to live encode VP6 and AAC together. I want to
use VP6 not H264 for it's compatibility and AAC for top audio and
less bandwith.
I want to use the AAC plugin through an SDI capture card.
Can anyone help?

No you cannot use vp6 and aac together in FMLE. Following
combinations are supported in FMLE:
1. Vp6 + nellymoser
2. Vp6 + mp3
3. H264 + mp3
4. H264 + aac
5. H264 + heaac
What's your upper limit for audio stream bandwidth?

  • MP3 and AAC files mixed in burned Audio CD???

Here is the story. I am new to iTunes and I have a 400Mhz G4 AGP Machine running OS 10.2.8 and have Quicktime 6.5.3 installed. I also have a 93 Gig HD and 512 megs of RAM and a Sony CRX160E iLink CD burner. I was running iTunes 3.0.1 for a little bit and just upgraded to 4.7.1 about a week or 2 ago. Can I mix "MP3" encoded tracks with "AAC" tracks. I think that I read in the help menu that I had to use the "Data CD" option instead of the Music CD option. But, if this is so, can I still play this CD in a regular CD player? since was encoded with MP3 and AAC and it is formated as a Data CD??? The reason I am asking is because I encoded a bunch of songs as MP3s in 3.0.1 as default and I understand that AAC files are of slightly better quality so, I wonder if it would be worth it for me to re-import my songs in "AAC" for consistency. Consistency is my main concern. I want to be able to burn CDs with little problems (although I have some issues but, that is a different story) and mix formats if I can.
    Thanks,
    Larry

Thanks for your help! I just burnt a CD with mixed formats and it played fine in a "newer" CD player. My home CD player is older (Circa 80s or 90s?) and I have been told that the older CD players either can't or, don't like CDRs. So, it played fine in my son's newer CD player but, not in my "older" player. I am not too sure about the difference in sound quality yet. I'll have to do some more testing. The MP3 files and AAC files both sounded well when played. One annoying thing, though is the volume issue. Most of the songs played at a similar volume but, one played quite softly. An annoying thing but, I understand that even if you use the "Sound check" option, the sound can vary due to the fact that iTunes has a "fast" way of reading the sound levels and could be inefficient. I will try "iVolume" to see if that helps. It is supposed to be pretty good for iTunes except for the version 7 that just came out.
    Thanks again,
    Larry

  • Mp3 and AAC (unprotected) in FCE 4??

    Hi,
I couldn't find any mention in the Apple documents. Does FCE 4 finally support mp3 and aac audio files??
    Thanks,

Well, I got FCE 4.0 and it doesn't appear to accept my aac files.

I'm going through folders of old video projects and came across mp4._00_  and .aac and 5TIuwq files and they are between 5.3 and 5.8GB. I'm not sure if these are just some temp files? Anyone know? They do not seem to open up.
    Thanks.

  • Organizing/separating AIFF and AAC files

I have a collection of 2000 songs. Each song is stored in AIFF and AAC formats. I want to separate these into two separate collections. The problem is that I don't see a practical way to keep the organization intact.
Here are the possibilities I have come up with that don't seem to work:
    1) Create a full copy of the original directory then do a Windows search for *.m4a or *.aif and then delete all the files found, leaving only one file type within the new directory structure. (I don't have enough hard disk space to do this.)
    2) Dump 2000 unorganized m4a files into the iTunes Music folder and let iTunes organize them (iTunes doesn't seem to do this).
    3) Cannot simultaneously select files contained among different folders.
    Any help appreciated

Yeeha, We see this question pretty often, usually from folks who want a lossless copy to play on their stereo and a compressed copy to play in their iPod. Unfortunately, iTunes does not particularly support it, and you are on your own. The basic options are separate playlists, as crazygecko suggests, or separate libraries, as you were thinking.
Note that whichever you decide, once you set it up each new song you add will have to be handled twice. Nothing automatic will happen.

  • CBR MP3 and AAC issue for audioqueue

We are exporting MP3 and AAC files from Logic Pro / Itunes with a constant bit rate - however when we look at these in the terminal they are showing as having a 0 value for the bytes/packet - therefore the SDK is seeing them as VBR files... Here's an example in the terminal:
    File: introduction.mp3
    File type ID: MPG3
    Data format: 2 ch, 44100 Hz, '.mp3' (0x00000000) 0 bits/channel, 0 bytes/packet, 1152 frames/packet, 0 bytes/frame
    no channel layout.
    estimated duration: 246.000 sec
    audio bytes: 4938188
    audio packets: 9452
bit rate: 160 bits per second
    packet size upper bound: 1052
    maximum packet size: 523
    audio data file offset: 4096
    optimized
Tried exporting them as AAC and MP3 using both Logic Pro and iTunes but all output files are showing a bytes/packet value.
Does anyone know how we can ensure that the CBR files have non 0 values for both bytes/packet and frames/packet?

Here's some more details on the file: Looks like there's a lot of different bit rates in there:
    FO:
    MPEG1 layer 3
    9452 frames
    44100 Hz
    38.281250 frames per second
    246.909388 seconds
4942284 bytes in file (160.132721 kbps)
4938188 bytes in MP3 frames (160.000008 kbps) = current bitrate
36500250 bits of payload data (147.828523 kbps)
4566717 bytes of payload data (147.964143 kbps)
33486 bits wasted from partially-full bytes (0.135621 kbps)
4906989 bytes of MP3 data (158.989143 kbps) = minimum bitrate possible
31199 bytes of padding (1.010865 kbps)
    4096 bytes outside MP3 frames (0.132713 kbps)
    0 sync errors
    Bitrate distribution:
    160: 5208,4244
    Largest frame uses 6427 bits = 804 bytes = 246.033594 kbps
Smallest bitrate for CBR is 160

  • Converting Songs to 128kbps and AAC

How do you convert songs to 128kbps and to an AAC format?

    1) Confirm you import settings are set to the desired format. In ITunes go to Edit>Preferences>Advanced>Importing than select in your case ACC encoder and the desired bitrate.
    2) Highlight the desired songs to be converted using shift (Music store songs will not convert but they would be in this format anyways) than right click and say Convert Selection to ACC.

  • Burning iTunes and AAC files

is it not possible to burn music you have bought off itunes onto CDs??
i want to be able to play it in my car however can only put songs that have not been bought through itunes onto cd.
whenever i try to do it my itunes will freeze and i have to close it then get the send error report message.
Im not sure if this is for any AAC file or just the itunes protected one?
    any help much appreciated thanks

Matt you can get your iTunes file to MP3 or WAV but the process is a bit convoluted. You'll also lose some quality in the conversion process but you will have something you can play in your car or mp3 player (If it's not an ipod).
    1) In preferences/Advanced/Burning
Choose disk format and burn the songs to Audio CD.
    2) Once you have done that, again in preferences/Advanced/Importing
Change your import settings to MP3 encoder or WAV encoder and setting to Good Quality 128kbps (I find this works on just about every type of player) then load your CD, import your songs back into iTunes as mp3's.
At the end of the process you should finsh with both the original & mp3 version in your iTunes libary.
Hope this has been of some help

  • Maintaining AIFF and AAC files

I have my preferences set to import AIFF files, and I know how to convert these to AAC. But when I do this, it creates the AAC file in the same folder in the same library. I could just deselect the AIFF files in that library so only the AAC's are synched with the iPod, but I'd like to instead create a new iTunes library so I can take these AIFF files over to an external hard drive. How do do this?
    Greg

So I imported a new CD into the new libary using AIFF (required a preference change to AIFF), and I'm trying to find the most efficient way to get about 1000 CD's imported in AIFF in one library, and converted to AAC for the other library. Although it was effective, the process is too cumbersome. Is there an easier way?
When I did this with a single CD, I set my preferences to AIFF and imported that CD into my new AIFF master library. I then had to change my preferences back to importing AAC files. That gave me an option on the Advanced menu to Create AAC version. I created AAC versions of the 6 tracks on the CD within that AIFF master library. Then I went into Windows Explorer. Created a file folder for these AAC tracks in the AAC libary that I synch with my iPod. Then copied the entire folder from the AIFF library to the AAC library. Then deleted the AAC files from the AIFF folder and vice versa. Then I had to launch all files I copied in the AAC folder so iTunes would "see" them. Then I had to clean up iTunes in the AIFF libary from within iTunes by deleting the AAC tracks.
Are you kidding me? I'm about ready to hire somebody to sit here for a week. This is ridiculous.

Linux can play AAC and MP4 if that's what you meant
    Yes,
for me it is intesting, what kind of program is nearly to iTunes
(gtkpod or amarok for example) without a virtualisation to use iTunes
    direct.
So in this case it is important to manage AAC/MPEG4-Audio files for me.
I heard it is a little bit tricky under Linux and i don't found realy a good
    solution.
And this is the reason why i took this forum to collect some experiences
what kind of piece of software is good and manage AAC/MPEG4-Audio

  • AMR and AAC - both supported throughout on mobile's?

I've tried both, and it seems only AMR works on most phones, whereas AAC works on some, doesn't on others - which is a shame, because AAC can be stereo, whereas AMR can only support mono.
Any additions, or tales to the contrary?

simply put... it's all about the wireless network that a given phone is designed to support. Low bandwidth networks like the typical networks in the US, and GPRS class networks in Europe have a limited amount of bit rate to play with... and so AMR is a better choice for audio as it sits in a lower bit rate range. Most if not all phones designed for these networks do not support AAC, as it's not ideal for the networks. OTOH phones designed to work within EVDO type networks in the US, and the other 3G networks in Europe and Asia will support AAC and ACC+ as the networks have much higher amounts of bitrate available.

  • ID3 and AAC

I am trying to educate myself here. I have about 20+ Gigs of music and haven't touched the stuff in years. Should I convert all my songs to ACC and add ID3 tags. Or should I only do one or the other.

ID3 tags can be used in most (but not all) Lossy music formats and with several Lossless formats. What type are your music files in currently?
Converting one Lossy format to another Lossy format will only result in a decrease in audio quality. If your music is currently in MP3 or similar Lossy format, there is nothing gained by converting it to AAC.
If the music cannot be played within iTunes, then you have little choice....
We'll need more information to better guide you.

  • Managing both Lossless and AAC music folders

Hello, I am trying to have two music folders with identical songs from my imported CDs, but with different encoding formats. I would like to have one folder with Apple Lossless encoding, so I can stream high-quality music to my home stereo. I would then like to have another folder of the same music, but converted to AAC compression so I can load that music onto my iPod.
Does anyone have suggestions as to how I can do this? I know I need to import the music from the CD first with Lossless encoding; and I've done this. I now need to find a way to convert all these files (as a copy) to AAC in a different folder/playlist so they can fit in my iPod's limited storage space.
Thanks for any help you can provide!
    Tyler Stableford

Managing two folders the way you want to do it, is not possible in iTunes itself.
There are 3rd party scripts and applications that might do it, for example iTunes Library Manager.
If you like to have both formats available at the same time, you could do next:
Import all CDs in Apple Losless.
Take care that all info is the way you like; if you convert them, you have to correct wrong info twice.
Convert all lossless tracks to AAC.
Make two Smart Playlists (e.g. iPod music and Home music)
Include a rule in the iPod playlist not to contain 'Apple Lossless audio file'
    To give an example:
I don't care about what's all in the library; it's the main container for my multimedia.
So I've set some rules for my 'Music Library', a Smart Playlist.
    I've set it to:
Match all of the following rules:
    Podcast is false
Kind is not mpeg audio stream
    Genre does not contain audiobook
    etc.
You could make two almost identical playlists.
'Home Music' containing the rule: Kind is not Apple lossles....
'iPod Music' containing the rule: Kind is Apple Lossless...
You can make other Smart playlists which depend on the contents of these two 'music libraries'.
    Hope this helps.

  • Flash Media Live Encoder and AAC

This is sort of a follow up to my previous post, asking about streaming through FMS to Apple and Android.
Android and Blackberry devices require that the audio component of video streams be encoded using AAC. Right now I'm telling my customers to buy the MainConcept AAC plugin, or to buy VidBlaster or Wirecast. Can anyone from Adobe comment on when Adobe might release a version of FMLE that includes AAC?

I couldn't get that point earlier. Sorry for that.
FMLE uses the MainConcept stuff for AAC and H264 video. I am not sure of the full plans yet, but as of now we can say FMLE is not having (which you can imply as, not going to have) in buit encoders for AAC.
