VPN-1 SecureClient Error

Upgraded to SL and get this error every time I log in,
VPN-1 SecureClient Error
SecureClient services are down
Please reboot your machine to start them
When I reboot, it comes up again, any ideas???

I contacted CheckPoint about this yesterday. They confirmed that Snow Leopard is "not supported" yet. They are hopeful to release a new version soon. However, the SecureClient is older technology for CheckPoint. They are now using Endpoint Security nomenclature. I expect that whatever they come up with to support SL will go by the newer naming convention. I am not going to hold my breath over CheckPoint releasing a new version! If anyone finds a resolution to this, please post it here!

  • [eSSO] VPN-1 SecureClient not connect with LM

    Hello!
I have the VPN application configured with LM. The problem is that when I entrance to VPN and LM copy the credentials and VPN produces error in the connection. I read that VPN (among other applications) needed configurate in Miscellaneous Tab (for Configuring a Windows Logon Form) the field "Use WM_CHAR messages to fill controls", but this does not work.
Someone was able to configure "VPN-1 SecureClient" application and enter successful?
    thanks!

    Thank you Octavian!
I was using send-keys but with "Inject directly into control".
The problems is that VPN application password fields not working with "Inject directly into control" and also needed delay between fields as you said.
    I had this:
    Username/ID -> 1370
    [Tab]
    Password -> 1369
    and the solutions is:
    [Set Focus: 1370]
    [Delay: 1s]
    Username/ID
    [Delay: 1s]
    [Tab]
    [Delay: 1s]

  • Check Point VPN-1 SecureClient

I've successfully installed Check Point's VPN-1 SecureClient. How do I invoke the connection to the remote PC? What's the OS X equivalent to Windows' mstsc? (I'm new to Mac.) Thanks.

The CheckPoint VPN-1 Secure Client software is only compatible with Mac OS v 10.3 (Panther). I had the same issue and am waiting for CheckPoint to update the software.

  • Checkpoint VPN-1 SecureClient for OS X 10.5 (leopard) - won't install

I'm trying to install the 03/2008 release of CheckPoint VPN-1 SecureClient for 10.5 (I have 10.5.5). The install fires up, works just fine, and says it was successful, and asks for a reboot. The reboot works, but the application is not installed: nothing in the Applications (it is supposed to be under Applications/Check Point).
There were many problems with the early-access versions of this product (it caused my system to completely hang on boot-up), but I have a couple of co-workers that are successfully using the 03/2008 released version.
    Anyone else have this problem?

I FIXED THIS successfully on three staff members' Mac Book Pro computers after many many headaches.
Before you do anything, run the 10.5.6 update, and any security updates that there are.
    1. Uninstall Secure Client (If you have it on your machine) using the uninstaller. If it cannot be uninstalled using the uninstaller, delete the "Check Point VPN-1 SecureClient" directory in the Applications folder. Also delete the "SecureClient" shortcut in the Applications folder. VERY IMPORTANT: Also delete the "opt" folder in the root of your OS Drive. EMPTY THE TRASH.
    2. Restart in Safe Boot by holding the "shift" key until you see the spinning pinweel below the Apple on the gray boot screen.
    3. Follow the instructions posted by Electric Cat:
    "+1. Open the terminal+
+2. Navigate to the directory containing the SecureClient installation package with the cd and ls commands+
+3. Type cd followed with the full name of the unzipped package and hit Return. For the orignal package, the command will be cd SecureClientB6340000311.pkg.+
+The Mac will enter the package just as to the directory (this IS a directory, actually)+
    +4. Type cd Contents/Resources+
+5. Type sudo ./postinstall, keeping all periods and slashes. The Mac will ask you for the root password. Enter it+
+6. The installation will succeed in the console mode."+
    4. Restart in Safe boot.
    5. Delete the "Check Point VPN-1 SecureClient" directory in the Applications folder. Also delete the "SecureClient" shortcut in the Applications folder. VERY IMPORTANT: Also delete the "opt" folder in the root of your OS Drive. EMPTY THE TRASH.
    6. Navigate to "Library/Receipts" and delete any Secure Client Packages that are there and empty the trash. THIS IS CRITICAL.
    7. Restart in Safe Boot.
    8. Run the "SecureClientB6340000311.pkg" file.
    9. Reboot in regular mode - MAKE SURE YOU'RE UNPLUGGED FROM ANY NETWORK.
    10. Do not connect to AirPort. If AirPort is set to automatically connect, turn it off and reboot.
    11. Upon reboot, Secure Client should appear in the top menu bar. If it doesn't appear, check to see if it installed into the Applications folder. If it didn't install repeat entire process. (One thing I've found about Secure Client, is that there is no rhyme or reason to its bugs).
    12. Connect to airport.
    13. Configure Secure Client.
    Praise Allah.

  • Substituting VPN-1 SecureClient with OpenVPN

    Hello,
my employer is using VPN-1 SecureClient (windows version of course ) to give us remote access to company intranet. I was just thinking about trying to use OpenVPN from my home linux box and see if I can connect there (this would allow me to try replacing various apps with linux alternatives and see if the m$ dungeons can be escaped...). I'm not much into this kind of security stuff, so I was not able to find much on Google. Doesn't seem like people would be caring that much about using alternatives...
I was wondering if someone has success stories replacing SecureClient with opensource alternatives? I'd be interesting in hearing that. Of course much of doing something is knowing which protocol/configuration is our client software using, but all I know at this point is we use PKI tokens, enter PIN code and it connects. I can't do much more than just make screenshots of the few configuration tabs from the program settings dialog...
I think some smaller external companies and their people woud be interested to hear this too, since I've seen most of them use windows run inside virtual machines to connect anyways...
    Thanks,
    David

ion successfully installed. now unable to get on vpn using cisco, error 51 constantly appears. should have stayed on snow leopard!

Try opening a terminal window (Applications >> Utilities). At the prompt, enter:
    >sudo SystemStarter restart CiscoVPN
This will ask you for the admin password and it will restart the Cisco client service. That should fix it. This seems to be a known issue that will eventually be solved with some updates.

  • SSTP VPN fails with Error 0x80092013 when certificate is issued by an Enterprise CA

I have spent several days trying to configure an SSTP VPN in an environment with a 2008R2 Enterprise CA server without much luck. I have been using the example found at   http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc731352(v=ws.10).aspx which
works very well as long as you configure the CA Extensions tab with an http CRL Distribution point that is included in the CRLs and CDP extension of issued certificates and is available to the client prior to VPN connection.
Basically my lab environment is as follows:
Separate 2008R2 domain controller, Single 2008R2 Enterprise CA / RRAS server with one nic. I know the instructions that I mentioned above use an RRAS server with 2 nics but I don't want my RRAS server serving as a router. I have an external hardware firewall
that port forwards port 443 to my single nic in my RRAS server and this entire configuration works fine as long as I am using a standard CA configuration. The RRAS was configured using the custom option and only VPN was chosen. Since my RRAS server is behind
a NAT router, the dns name my external client uses to connect is different than the internal name of my RRAS server.
In the example above, a Windows 2008R2 CA server is configured as a standalone non-enterprise root CA. As long as I stick with a standard CA, I have no problem and everything works.
My problem is that if I configure my Windows Server 2008R2 Enterprise server as an Enterprise Root CA, My Windows 7 client always gets an "Error 0x80092013 The revocation function was unable to check revocation because the revocation server was offline."
I'm not certain, but I think the problem is with the way that I request the certificate for my RRAS server. When I configure a standalone standard root CA and use the web enrollment page and use an Advanced Certificate Request, I get a page that I can use
to fill out the external dns name that I use to connect to SSTP, choose a Server Authentication Certificate,  choose to mark keys as exportable and submit my request. Once I install this key in the Certificates (local computer) / Personal / Certificates
store, everything works and my client can connect as long as I have installed the root CA certificate on my client.
When I install my CA as an Enterprise Root CA server, everything changes. I no longer have the same options to install a custom certificate. Instead of getting the same page as I do with a standard CA, I get my choice of Certificate Templates. Prior to this,
I have duplicated the Computer template in the CA authority and configured the subject name to "supply in request" and configured my CA to issue it. I have tried issuing my RRAS SSTP certificate using the web enrollment and I have also tried using the certificates
plugins in mmc to request custom certificates and tried using an alternative subject name, filling out the DNS option with my external dns name.
When it is all said and done, I end up with an RRAS SSTP certificate that has CRL Distribution Points defined as URL=http://www.mywebsite/CertEnroll/myCA.crl and it is available to my client or anyone. I have compared the certificate issued by an Enterprise
CA vs the Standard CA and I find little difference in the two. I also know that I can reach this RRAS SSTP certificate from my client by going to  https://myexternaladdress.mydomain.com/sra_{BA195980-CD49-458b-9E23-C84EE0ADCD75}/and
I can view the padlock in IE and view my internal RRAS certificate. The CRL Distribution point looks no different when I have a standard vs an Enterprise CA but my client always fails with the Error 0x80092013 when I have issued the RRAS SSTP certificate
    with the Enterprise CA.
I have probably re-setup this lab about 20 times and am getting very familiar with getting it set up quickly and working with the standard CA but I want to use an Enterprise CA environment.
What am I missing? How can I make this work with an Enterprise CA? How can I troubleshoot this?
    Thanks,
    Rod

Thanks for  your reply. I did read the article and addressed that issue in the first part of my previous post. I don't think that the website where I am hosting my CRL has directory browsing permissions or that I have the ability to set them but the
point of my question was everything works using that same public website when I use a standard CA to create my certificate but does NOT work when I create the certificate using an Enterprise CA.

  • Access to DFS root via VPN not working - error 0x80070035 keeps popping up

    Dear all,
when trying to access the DFS root via VPN from a Windows 7 non-domain member computer I always receive an error stating "Windows cannot access \\eggs.local\dfs", Error Code: 0x80070035, The Network Path was not found.
I searched the internet as well as these forums in order to get to grips with this error message but didn't find anything to solve my problem.
I made sure, that NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled, that I have access to the VPN adapter's DNS as well as WINS servers, that DNS name resolution is working properly, DNS split tunneling is enabled, Windows Firewall is disabled, and so forth. Still no luck.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
Though you mentioned DNS is working properly, please check if DNS forwarder is set as set correctly.
And incase it is caused by authentication, please try to force Kerberos to use TCP - by default it using UDP and on a slow VPN connection, UDP packets may be dropped.
How to force Kerberos to use TCP instead of UDP in Windows
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/244474
Also check NTFS and Sharing permission on top of the DFS Namespace. At least give users a Read permission.

  • VPN - net use error 2221

    Hello,
we are migrating to Windows 7 and have some VPN Users. Now we are testing the VPN Scenario in Windows 7. We have recognized that, we cant connect network drives, when we are connected through VPN. We get: system error 2221 the username could not be found
I have done some testing and figure out:
    - ping ip works
    - ping servername works
    - ping domainname works
So I assume its not an Name resoultion issue. If I map the Networkdrive with "\\server\sharename" I get immediately error 2221 as mentioned above, but if I try to map \\IP\sharename" I get asked for username and password.
    May somebody have a clue?
My other question is, if we possibly could map drive via "\\IP\sharename", how we could automate this, that the user dont must enter credentials. This has been working with Windows XP with no issues.
    Thanks

Sometimes the issue has to deal with the stored credentials on your machine. Open
Control Panel and navigate to Credential Manager then remove the credentials relating to VPN/network drives.
Restart your computer, it will ask you for your credentials the first time. See if it asks again.

  • Windows 8 VPN not working - error 720

I am running the RTM version of windows 8 on my laptop and get an error code 720 when I try and connect to my VPN service. The VPN worked fine for a few weeks and then stopped working giving me the "Error 720 - A connection to the remote computer could
not be established." I've switched VPN servers and turned off firewalls which have not resolved the issue. I'm hoping that it is just a bug in the yet to be released OS because before I started receiving the error 720, internet connection sharing would not
work using the VPN either. Has anyone experienced the same issue and know the fix?

    Dear all ,
I have been working to solve this issue like 2 month ago , and I was sure that this is somehow of a miss-configuration, Managed to solve my problem by checking what I have installed as software and such .
I Wasn't pretty sure what is the software or what was the software causing all the issues , but in my case it was Antamedia DHCP server which wasn't even compatible with Win 8 yet
now please this is only for professional IT users , those who cannot handle this kind of configuration don't do it , as it may damage your whole system , our work will be in the Registry editor ,
Run --> regedit --> locate the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-
    08002BE10318}
now the trick is to backup this file by exporting it and saving it somewhere ,and after you have to browse the keys for the one installed by your software and causing all the issues .
any one not abling to locate the key just send me the export file or post it here as a reply and maybe I can help him fix it , I know how annoying this issue is and that's why I'm offering my help , and in case of non professional users I may
be able to help them remotely when ever I'm online just send me an email on [email protected]
Please remember to mark this as answer if it works thank you and hope it helps you all from all over the world

  • Unable to connect to VPN intermittenly with error 412

Lately one of my user is having trouble logging on to VPN. It is always getting '412 :The remote peer is no longer responding' error when it cannot connects . I attached the Cisco VPN client log. Anyone got any experience in troubleshooting this kind of problem, pls advice. Thanks for your help appreciate it.

We are experiencing the same thing across some clients.  The strange thing is it only occurs from some internet accesses.  Others it works just fine with no tweaking.  But it is consistently not working at the same locations.  I hate to start saying its the broadband router b/c that gets messy with users and it varies too much.
Any input would be appreciated from someone who has either an explanation or solution.
