VPN Client is not adding DNS server IP addresses
Hello all,
I'm new to the forum and could use a little help.
I use a CheckPoint VPN-1 to connect to my work network. The problem that I have is that I need to add two name servers to access the various sites and applications at work. I have not been able to find a way to do this within VPN-1. I found a listing in for DNS servers in the user.C file but as soon as I edit it and add them (and the edit back up so that it doesn't just over write my changes) it says the files are corrupt and reloads it from the network. What a pain.
Right now I am manually adding the IP address to my DNS list when I connect, then cursing when I use a browser after dosconneting, then removing them manually. If it were not for the fact that network access is dramatically slower when I'm not using the VPN and have the additional name servers listed, I would just leave them there and be done with it. But network performance seems to suffer dramatically when they are listed and the VPN is not active. As soon as I remove them, performance returns to normal.
What I need is a way to add two DNS Server IP Address when VPN-1 connects to the network and remove them when I shut down the VPN. I personally don't care if it's a separate utility, Automator Script, Apple Script, or even a different VPN client, as long as it will connect to a CheckPoint FW.
I have started looking at other clients. I have looked at PSecuritas, it connected to the FW fine, had a place to add the DNS IPs but did not add them correctly either. I also looked briefly at VPN Tracker, for $120 .... I don't think so ..... it's a hassle, not broken.
Any help would be appreciated.

This is possibly CSCec68049 (see http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/Support/Bugtool/onebug.pl?bugid=CSCec68049&Submit=Search for details. 3.6 had a few issues with DNS servers not being populated. Try upgrading a few of your PC's to the latest 4.0 client and that should resolve it.

Contivity vpn client behind router with easy server
Hi, I've seen this argument before, but without an effective solution.
I have a contivity client behind a 857 cisco router. This client needs to connect to a remote VPN server.
With NAT enable and easy VPN server disable all works fine.
When I enable easy VPN server on the 857 (I need to connect several dial-up cisco vpn client from outside to this office) the contivity client can't connect anymore to the remote vpn server and hang up with the famous "bannet text" error.
I think that because the external interface of the 857 is waiting for cisco vpn client to connect, it intercepts also the data from the remote contivity vpn server, not forwarding to the client inside the LAN.
If there is a way to "passthrough" the contivity connection data to the internal client it would be very nice.
Many thanks, Stefano.Hi, I found a possible solution. At this page
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk583/tk372/technologies_configuration_example09186a0080235197.shtml
this is the interesting part:
!--- Dynamic crypto map.
crypto dynamic-map dynmap 1
set transform-set foo
match address 199
access-list 199 permit ip 10.100.100.0 0.0.0.255 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255
access-list 199 permit ip host 172.16.142.191 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255
I try to put the contivity vpn client to another subnet (192.168.3.10) but the easy vpn server still intercepts its encrypted data.

VPN 3005 Concentrator not routing past server
Hey Guys,
So i've got a 3000 Concentrator configured for PPTP, with an external RADIUS and DHCP server. All of that is working correctly.
I'm using the Windows VPN client, and i can connect and authenticate just fine. I'm given an IP in the correct range, but when I try and connect to any host behind the VPN, that's when things start to fail.
Config is as follows...
3000 directly connected to a 3560 for local and a Comcast D3G for public.
Internal address: 10.1.4.50/24 Gateway 10.1.4.1
After connecting to the tunnel, i'll tracert from the client to any machine inside the VPN, on the same subnet, but it fails at the concnetrator.
tracert 10.1.4.105
Tracing route to SB-ENGSHOP [10.1.4.105]
over a maximum of 30 hops:
1 3ms 2ms 2ms 10.1.4.50
2 * * * Request timed out
I know the default gateway is set correctly in the concentrator. I get the same result when i try to access any host on that subnet, AND any outside host. I've tried split tunneling, but that just allows me to access public resources, still no corporate resources.
Any help would be great, Thanks!Hi,
Check if your remote networks are not overlapping for the tunnels on VPN concentrator.
Also try upgrading the VPN concentrator version code to latest.

Cisco VPN Client is not opening on windows 7 64bits
Hello,
My problem : i instaled Cisco VPN client 5.0.07.0440-k9 on Windows 7 64 bits, the installation ends successfully. But when i restard the computer, when i click it doesnt open.
Notice : when i restard the computer, it takes an infinite time the first rebooting , in the final stage of boot ( The black window with the Microsoft logo and message Windows Is Starting ...) '' it takes an infinite time so i force the reboot.
started the same thread here but no answer yet.
Thank youcheck your event viewer/System log. You may see some entries stating that
"The Cisco Systems Inc. IPSec Driver failed to start due to the following error: Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file."
disable digital signatures (NOT recommended) and cisco works fine
I guess Cisco has already killed this program if they aren't even getting it certified. -
ASA 5505 & VPN Client will not access remote lan
I have an ASA 5505 that is on the parimeter of a hub & spoke vpn network, when I connect to this device using the VPN client I can connect to any device accross the VPN ifrastructure with the exception of the subnet that the client is connected to, for instance:
VPN client internal network connects to 192.168.113.0 /24 and is issued that ip address 192.168.113.200, the VPN client can be pinged from another device in this network however the client cannot access anyting on this subnet, all other sites can be accesed ie. main site 192.168.16.0/24, second site 192.168.110/24 and third site 192.168.112/24. The ACL Manager has a single entry of "Source 192.168.113.0/24 Destination 192.168.0.0/16 and the "Standared ACL 192.168.8.8./16 permit.
What am I doing wrong? Thanks for getting back to me, I have carried out the steps as instructed, one interesting point is that the IP address that was issued to the VPN Client 192.168.113.200 does not appear in the output.

RV042 VPN Client Access not able to connect two users at same time
I have a RV042 and have set it up for VPN Client access using the QuickVPN client to connect my remote users. I discovered today that I cannot have two users connect in at the same time. Both users are in the same remote office. They can connect individually with no problem but if one is connected and the other tries connect also the second user gets a message the gateway is not responding. They are both running WinXPPRo SP3. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Were your QuickVPN clients behind a firewall router of some sort? For multiple QuickVPN clients to be able to connect to the remote RV042 at the same time, the local firewall router must have VPN Passthrough correctly implemented. You could try using a RV042 as the firewall router for your QuickVPN clients and you should be able to maintain 2 tunnels at the same time to the remote RV042.

SA540 SSL VPN Client will not install on Windows 7
I had the SSL VPN Client working on my Windows 7 laptop. I tried to use the SSL VPN through Firefox and now my client does not work on IE anymore.
The install process beings and the progress bar makes it halfway before I get an error saying the install failed.
I tried everything I could to remove the SSL VPN client manually. I even followed the instructions posted at the end of this forum posting: https://cisco-support.hosted.jivesoftware.com/thread/2018716?decorator=print&displayFullThread=true
Nothing has worked.
The best I can find is the VPN Client is crashing during install. I saw this in the Event Log.

None of this makes any sense to me, but may someone can tell me why the install is failing?
Thanks,
ScottMario,
I tried everything you mentioned. I cleared cookies and temporary files. I enabled SSL 3.0. I restarted IE.
I get the same thing. The install process starts and then ends at suddenly saying the install failed.

VPN client will not open or connect
Hi,
I'm running VPN Client 5.0.07.0440 on a Windows 7 Pro HP TouchSmart. The .pcf file is the same iI am using on many other machines om this same network. When I double click the icon, the window opens up, but when I double click the connection entry, the dialog box says "connecting to security gateway at xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx for a few seconds and then says "Not connected." I can't even get to the log-in screen I normally can. This is a new computer set-up. All updates are downloaded for windows.
I've uninstalled the client and re-insatlled it re-booting after every step. I've pinged the address and had no problems. Running Avast, Malwarebytes as on other machines. No other security software. My VPN is enabled in my Network Connections.
Here is my log file:

I know the names and passwords are correct as they were copied from working files.
Hope this is posted to the right group.
Never had this problem after many machines. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank youSince you're getting the message "may be configured with invalid group password", perhaps your pcf file got corrupted.
I'd recommend you compare the profile pcf file (stored in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Cisco Systems\VPN Client\Profiles") on the non-working machine with one from a working setup.
They can be examined in a text editor or with a diff tool (like the freeware ExamDiff). The encrypted group password hashes (string in the file preceded by "enc_GroupPwd=") should match. -
Has anyone had this problem with VPN iPad vpn connection could not validate the server certificate
Has anyone had this problem with IPad 3 after upgrade to IOS 7,
trying to to connect VPN , but I get this messag, "could not validate the server certificate".
I am trying to connect to Oracle VPN.Has anyone found a solution for this yet? I am still getting the could not validate server certificate error. I have tried importing the entire certificate chain as well as importing each individual cert in the chain. My certificate works perfectly with the cisco vpn on my pc.
This is my first experience owning an apple product, and I am very disappointed with the customer support that I have received. I tried calling the help line and no one would even attempt to answer my question. I was then told that the Mac "geniuses" wouldn't know either and that I may be able to find an answer on the message boards. So I am reaching out to the community...Has anyone been able to figure out how to resolve this issue or even the specific cause? Any help is appreciated. -
How can I get Quick VPN to use the correct DNS server IP
Right now it is defaulting to 192.168.x.1 (my RV042) I need it to default to 192.168.x.4 (Domain Controller). I need to be able to resolve names because remote users will have to log into the domain. I can not statically assign a DNS server on their machines because they are mobile, will be using WIFI hotspots and or/ wired LAN's at home.
The rv042 is obviously the router and server1 is the domain controller (also the DNS server for my LAN)
If I use nslookup to find a host it will default to the rv042 IP, so if I force the server IP in this case I get resolution with 192.168.x.4
C:\Users\XXXX>nslookup PC1 192.168.x.1
Server: rv042.xxxxxxxxxxxx.local
Address: 192.168.x.1
*** rv042.xxxxxxxxxxxx.local can't find PC1: Non-existent domain
C:\Users\XXXX>nslookup PC1 192.168.x.4
Server: server1.xxxxxxxxxxxx.local
Address: 192.168.x.4
Name: PC1.xxxxxxxxxxxx.local
Address: 192.168.x.5
C:\Users\XXXX>
Everything works right if I could just set my DNS server to .4. I came across many many posts from back as far as 2006 with poeple asking for this feature. What gives Cisco???One of the first things to check in Mail Preferences, Composing:

Client can not contact WSUS server.
Hello everyone
I have a WSUS 3.0 server (v3.2.7600.226) and 3 test clients.
The WSUS server is on subnet xxx.xx.30.xx
Client1 is on the same subnet as WSUS (no problem receiving updates)
Client2 is on subnet 52(no problem receiving updates)
Client3 is on subnet 25 (can not contact WSUS, therefore does not receive updates)
All the clients are standalone machines, they do not belong to any domain.
What I tried so far with no success:
disabled firewall on server
tried this fixit on the client: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/836941/en-us
Stopped wuauclt and bits services, renamed
%windir%/SoftwareDistribution folder, restarted services
Read a number of forum posts and blogs but could not find a solution.
Client3 Facts:
It is a fresh windows 7 installation, no updates have been installed.
Can ping the FQDN and IP address of WSUS server.
Unlike Client1 and 2, Client3 can not visit the ISS7 web page when I enter the FQDN on a browser.
Run checkdiag.exe which reported the following:

Many thanks for your time.Client3 Facts:
It is a fresh windows 7 installation, no updates have been installed.
I'm having an issue with this statement, although I don't think it's a contributing factor. I'm skeptical how a "fresh Win7 installation" can get a v7.6 WUA installed... Win7RTM shipped with v7.4, and Win7SP1 shipped with v7.5 ... so SOMETHING updated this
machine to WUA v7.6!
Unlike Client1 and 2, Client3 can not visit the ISS7 web page when I enter the FQDN on a browser.
This is your key consideration right here. If the browser can't get to the webserver, then the WUA ain't never gonna be able to get to the webservices hosted on that webserver.

HI all!
I have a problem when Client log in to server that installed window server 2008.It can not connect to this server even when restart and key in IP or Server name,...
I try disable Firewall of window 2008 in server machine and client can connect to server. But when i disable firewall, it's mean i can not use Remote desktop or terminal service..
Now, how i can do in order to solve this problem.
Thanks!Hi,
Take a look at the admin guide (Page 75, 119, 159):
If you installed a firewall on the license service computer, make sure that the firewall is not set to port 30000; otherwise, the license service cannot work.
If you are using Port X, make sure that you open Port X and Port (X+1) in the firewall. For example, if you are using port 10000, make sure to also open port 10001.
The default communication port is 1143.
The default port of the SAP Business One license server is 30000 for license communication and 30001 for the license naming service -
Cisco VPN Client (4.8) killing DNS on dual core Macs?
When I connect to my company's network using Cisco's VPN (4.8) I cannot connect to resources unless I use IP addresses, all domain names fail (i.e., http://www.yahoo.com fails but http://66.94.230.32 works). This applies to destinations both inside and outside the firewall so I don't believe it's an issue with my company's VPN system as others with Macs connect without problems. And I am getting the correct IPs entered into my /etc/resolv.conf upon a successful connection so I'm pretty sure that's not it.
I have read of others experiencing DNS issues on a dual core Macs with the Cisco VPN, which makes me wonder if it isn't something specific to my machine? No idea. It's driving me insane.
There is some discussion of it here:
http://www.macwindows.com/tiger.html#060205...
trying the same (without the "Internet Config.app" / VPN PPTP) using VPN Tracker works fine. But I don´t want to spend Euro 79.-...

Adding DNS server and Domain to Call Manager 9.1.1
I am removing this Post, Thanks to all the replies
The name pretty much says it all, cluster reboot, start by your PUB, wait until it comes up, next TFTP(s) wait until fully up, next SUB1, wait until fully up, and repeat until you've rebooted all servers in your cluster.

Add-ons not working after server IP address/domain name change.
Hello everyone,
We have just changed the IP address of our SAP Business One server and moved it into a new domain.
Although SAP Business One is working as expected, the add-ins created by a third party do not work. Having very little knowledge of SAP I do not understand where the problem could be.
The third party were on-site today and have reinstalled the add-ons but they still do not work.
There is an error message when starting the client that states: Module <Compatability Licensed for Add-ons> Expired on <20080115> but the third party have stated that this isn't a license issue.
Can anyone provide any assistance/advice on what the problem may be?
The possibilities for the problem at the moment are:
- Invalid license key for add-ons (but why would changing the IP address/domain name cause this issue?)
- The add-on is coded with the original IP address of the server.
- There is a permissions problem that has been missed (as users are in a new domain).
Any advice/suggestions are welcome.
Many thanks,

I am afraid that the possible cause is the addon is coded with the IP address in their connection method. It could be possible that it is a hardcoded addon.
you must ask the addon developer to change it and do not use the IP address anymore in the addon.
