VPN, configure IPv4

Hello,
I've asked this in the regular OS X/Networking discussion but as of yet have no responses. Honestly I'm not sure if this is a client or server issue.....
I am internally running a VPN server currently on a Mac Mini. It is using iVPN as the server and I have no problems connecting. It's address range does not conflict with my local OS X Server install on an iMac. The VPN server is not running on the OS X Server machine at this point.
The address range I have for the assignments (on the VPN server) is on a different subnet than my internal network.
All that being said, what is the purpose of System Preferences> Network>Location (selected VPN)>Advanced>TCP/IP>Configure IPv4?????? (on a non-server install of 10.57)
This implies that one can set a "static" ip address when that client connects to the server (which is what I want!!). The situation I want is that when a specific machine connects to the VPN, it is assigned (or assigns itself) a specific IP address each and every time. This is needed in the case that software running on the VPN server needs the clients connecting to it to have the same IP address each time.
Anyone share their $.02???

For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices.
That all works.
It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now. They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.

I established a VPN configuration and connected but cannot connect to server?

I work from an imac at home and need to connect to my work server and files. I established the VPN configuration and connected to the building but cannot access the server. What am I doing wrong or what else do I need to do.

Once your VPN is connected, you still need to log in to the server(s) you are using. This does not necessarily happen automatically - you may have to manually log in to your server(s).   To do this, in the Finder menu do Go > Connect to Server and enter the server address. If these are windows servers it's probably an SMB connection in which case you would enter smb://<serveraddress> in the server address field.
Best bet is to talk with the IT folks where you work, as you may need specific information about how to log in to your server(s). There are ways to automate the login but you first need the correct login details (server address, userID, password).
If you want to automate the login process, here's a simple Applescript that I wrote in my own case. Create this using Applescript Editor. After testing, save it as an Application; then in System Preferences you can add it to your list of Login Items so it runs automatically whenever you sign in to your Mac. Of course, your VPN will have to already be connected in order for this to actually work.

Configure IPv4 Manually? Using DHCP?

I have a wireless network using WDS with an AEBS and an AX. Everything is working fine, but I noticed today that in Airport Utility under the Internet heading that my AEBS has "Using DHCP" for Configure IPv4, while the AX has "Manually." Should both of these be set to "Using DHCP"? Does it matter?

As long as the manual configuration of IP address on the Airport Express was done in manner that isn't likely to conflict with your network's DHCP server, it doesn't matter.
What IP address is shown on that Airport Express configuration screen?

Yes, you can configure multiple dynamic-to-static l2l on ASA. But for multiple connections using ezvpn will be much easier. Following links may help you

Cisco sr520 VPN configuration and deployment

Hope one of the cisco genius' can help me out. I have a small business with one sr520 edge router. The network is up and running fine but I need to allow remote users to connect back to a vpn at the office in order to access user winxp Pcs using RDP remotedesktop.
I have searched the web and cisco forums and see there are quite a few vpn configurations but I found no clear setup guide for accomplishing what I understood to be pretty simple. "allow 5 outside users to connect back to the office and work as if they were sitting in the office"
Question:
1. What client software is needed on the remote client pc to connect back back to the sr520 vpn? Can I use the windows pptp vpn client or the built-in Mac client?
2. My router shows three items labeled vpn. VPN remote, VPN Server and SSL VPN...i have tweaked each of these screens but still not been able to connect an outside client. Is there a setup guide to explain the features of this router and how to use it.
3. after poking around the Cisco site for a vpn client i am wondering why do I need a support contract to use a feature of a router I just bought? Does Firmware and client software cost extra?

How to import Lion Server VPN Configuration Profile into Profile Manager

Greetings All,
I'm working on configuring a Lion Server VPN (10.7.2) and I hit the following road block. I succesfully started the VPN server and profile manager. In fact, if I download the built-in "everyone" profile that has the pre-configured VPN to device such as an iPad things work just fine. However, I'd like to create other profiles with the same VPN configuration info so I can delegate more specifically to different groups and users. I was hoping I could simply import the VPN configuration profile that I saved in the Server dashboard when I setup the VPN service into profile manager somehow. The reason I'm going this route is because every time I try to just re-make the VPN profile it doesn't want to work. I'm not sure why, but I figure why re-invent the wheel if I don't have too. Any suggestions?

After a lot of investigating I haven't found a way to do this, I'm assuming it cannot be done.

Vpn configuration problems 2621xm and vpn client

I'm trying to configure my home cisco 2621xm to accept vpn connections. I've used many cisco pdf documents and they all same almost the same so I've done my configuration using these documents.
now I just can't get past this error message I'm getting and I have no idea why this is happening.
any ideas to help me get past this step, I'm really stuck here.

ASA 5505 VPN configuration question

I have a asa 5505 v7.2(3) asdm 5.2(3) th I am trying to get reconfigured after our cable company was bought out and they replaced the cable modem with a router. My asa now has a non routable "10" address on the outside instead of one of the 5 statics I have assigned to me. I have natted my servers, but I cannot get my vpn clients connected. I am not sure how to get one of my statics assigned to the asa to use for the VPN tunnel. Used to be I just tunneled to the static "outside" address with my Cisco VPN clients (remote pc's). I tried assigning one of my statics to the outside, but then I had no connectivity at all since there is a router now before me, where it was just a modem before. I am used to working on larger pix's with my own IP address range, and not used to dealing with DHCP assigned outside addresses, so I am sure it is something simple I am missing. Any help would be greatly appreciated, this is for a small charity animal shelter, that has been down since the cable company made their "transparent change" when the bought another one out.
The ISP router has an interface with one of my static on the outside facing interface, and a 10 address on the interface directly connected to my ASA. The ISP router then assigns a 10 address to my outside interface on the ASA. I then have 192 addresses on my inside interfaces with statics for their servers. I am just not sure now how to connect my VPN clients since I do not have a routable outside address anymore. I have tried connecting to the static on the ISP hinking they might pass the packet, but they don't. I thought maybe a loopback could be assigned to the ASA, but could not see a way to do that. also the ethernet interfaces cannot have address assigned, only vlans, which there can only be two, and both are used (inside, outside) so I am out of ideas.

Hi Kevin
Your current design causes administrative overhead. You either need one-to-one mapping with outside int or a PAT which is forwarding UDP 4500 and TCP 10000 (may cause troubles in GRE)
Ask your ISP to configure the router in bridged mode and let your outside interface have the public IPs instead 10.x.x.x
