VPN Connection Windows 8,1 Error

Hello,
I 'm trying to connect using VPN connection, but always return an error: "A request to
send or receive data was disallowed because the socket is not connected and on a (when sending on a datagram socket using a send to call) no address was supplied"
All my colleagues are able to connect less myself, we already sow all the configurations and seams there
all the same, and obviously we are missing something.
I have the windows 8.1
Thanks

Elsa Susana,
Normally you’ll see the error when an incorrect network address or port is specified.
If you haven’t already, try pinging the remote host.  If it doesn’t respond, verify your connection information again to make sure you have the correct network address and network port entered.
Another possible cause is that you have the remote host blocked by your firewall or other security software, so make sure you check those as well.
More information on your error can also be found on
this MSDN page.
Hope this helps!

Any chance it's a firewall issue?

Does nobody from Apple read this list?
My server still isn't working properly, and it's deeply frustrating.
Having done a lot of investigating I discovered that servermgrd is based on Apache, and I discovered where all it's files live. I've also discovered how to enable the debug menu in Server Admin.
If I try to access the "servermgr_info" command that I am seeing errors from in my servermgrderrorlog file via the command line (using sudo, so it executes as root, just as it should through servermgrd) then it works just fine with no complaints about access. The PasswordServer logs seem to imply that access gets granted when I run up Server Admin.
This seems to point towards servermgrd going wrong somehow and deciding for itself that access cannot be granted. Its configuration had not been changed in any way. Since these errors started all I have done to it has been to increase the logging, which had no effect.
The error message I get from Server Admin is as follows:
The login information is incomplete for this server or is not valid.
One or more services failed to accept the login information you provided for <myserver>. Check the Name and Password and try to log on again or contact your network administrator.
The error in the servermgrderrorlog file on a connection attempt is as I gave in my first message.
Curiously Server Monitor, which also uses servermgrd, is functioning perfectly, with apparently no authentication problems.
I've been very happy with my XServe until this problem came up. Just at the wrong time too - I'm about to expand our infrastructure, and suddenly my Mac server has become harder to administer than my Linux servers. Not very impressive, and the support I'm getting at the moment is far worse than I can get for Linux. Adding new XServe's had been my favoured option, but Linux's star is rising here at the momment.

  • MySql Connection window-----says MySql Error#1045

I have made a db on my server (hostgator) and I have connected to the db through phpmyadmin. I am trying to connect to MySql through dreamweaver so I can make the index.php file and create some forms and tables so I can link my php file to my db. I can make a connection with the host as I have already uploaded some files there. When I go to the databases section in the control panel and I go to add new connection I have tried everything to get it too connect. I get an error of MySql Error#1045 Acess denied for user 'XXX@localhost' (using password "YES") Please help hours have gone by:(

Well I know this is probably NOT going to help but here is what I've learned so far:
    1. It happens with most all the sites using cPanel as control panel.
    2. Some thimes this is caused cause in the cPanel, right next to PhP MyAdmin there is a box called remote mysql, you need to be sure that your ip addy is there so you can connect remotely.
    3. if you can connect through the mysql gui, then you are free to connect trhough DW... However sometime (most of the times lately) that wont work...
try what i said and i'll keep on checking why this is happening... btw i've asked suppont on four differente hositngs, and cpanel itself.

  • VPN connection between ASA5520 and RV215w

    Hello everyone,
I am trying to setup a vpn connection between ASA5520 with 9.1.(3) and rv215w 1.1.0.6
    Here is my setup ...
But the vpn connection fails with an error message on ASA.
RV215w shows ipsec established but i cannot ping the network behind.
You can find asa-config and show-tech as attachment. I have added also some screenshots from RV215w.
Any hint or help is appreciated.
    Cengiz

    Hi Cengiz,
Dynamic CRYPTO maps mostly used in a Remote Access or Client to site VPN because end users working from home can have IP address new every time or like different whcn connect from home or from Internet cafe , hence ASA cant make a fix IP as Peer.
But for site to site also Dynamic Crypto Map can be used but only at one side , else if you use Dynamic crypto map at both ends , both peer will wait for each other to initiate a tunnel Request as the device n this case ASA) configured with Dynamic Crypto map can only REPLY for a tunnel initiation , it can never send tunned initilaization request as it never know the IP address of the peer. Hence never make both device as dynamic crypto map or else they both never initiate and wait for each pther and tunnel will never happen.
The main steps to be configured on the ASA end in order to establish dynamic tunnel:
        Phase 1 ISAKMP related configuration
        Nat exemption configuration
        Dynamic crypto map configuration
The Cisco IOS router has a static crypto map configured because the ASA is assumed to have a static public IP address. Now this is the list of main steps to be configured on the Cisco IOS Router end to establish dynamic IPSEC tunnel.
        Phase 1 ISAKMP related configuration
        Static crypto map related configuration
    !---1. Configure the IPsec transform-set
    crypto ipsec transform-set myset esp-des esp-md5-hmac
!--- 2. Configure the dynamic crypto map. Always rememeber to bind a dynamic crypto map to a blank static crypto map and then call that static crypto map to a ASA OUTSIDE Interface as Dynamic Crypto maps cannot be bind directly to ASA OUTSIDE Interface or say any interface.
    crypto dynamic-map MY_DYNAMIC_MAP 1 set transform-set myset
    crypto dynamic-map MY_DYNAMIC_MAP 1 set reverse-route
!--- Enable Reverse Route Injection (RRI), which allows the ASA
!--- to learn routing information for connected clients hence the static route will come above defaut route and hence
!... will make the routing decision fast else every time for the other side router dynamic IP , default route have to get a hit but only after checking the entire routing table and when no match then use default route , so to save this entire route matchin process always good to use reverse route enjection so that other side non dynamic crypt peer can insert a static route enrty in ASA.
!--- 2A. Always Bind dynamic crypto map named MY_DYNAMIC_MAP to a static crypto map named STATIC_MAP_CALLING_DYMANIC_MAP using a keyword dynamic in the last
    crypto map STATIC_MAP_CALLING_DYMANIC_MAP 10 IPSec-isakmp dynamic MY_DYNAMIC_MAP
!--- 2B.now apply static map on ASA OUTSIDE Interface
    crypto map STATIC_MAP_CALLING_DYMANIC_MAP interface outside
!--- 3. Configure the phase I ISAKMP policy

  • VPN connection created with CMAK fails to update routing table on Windows 8.1 with error 8000ffff

When my clients connect their CMAK-created VPN, it fails to run the script to set their routing table with the following error:
Custom script (to update your routing table) failed (8000ffff)
My objective is to create a VPN connection with split tunneling - does not use the VPN connection as the client's default gateway.
All my clients are on Windows 8.1 64-bit, and are logged in with Administrative privileges
My VPN Clients are on 10.242.2.0/24, my internal network is on 10.172.16.0/24
I want only traffic for 10.172.16.0 to go via the VPN. Everything else should go via the client's internet connection
My Connection Manager Administration Kit profile, was created on Windows 2012 R2 CMAK with the following settings:
"Make this connection the client's default gateway" is UNticked on the IPv4 tab.
Define a routing table update is specified with a text file containing:
+++ Start of txt file +++
    REMOVE_GATEWAY
add 10.172.16.0 mask 255.255.255.0 default metric default if default
+++ End of txt file +++
The txt file is saved in DOS/Windows format (not Unicode or UTF-8 which I've read causes problems)
I've tried everything in lower and upper case in the txt file after reading that the file might be case sensitive
The following appears on the client with logging enabled:

Where can I find out what error codes 8000ffff or -2147418113 mean?

    That was it. Thanks, Steven
"By default, the dial-up entry and the VPN entry have Make this connection the default gateway selected.
Leave this default in place, and remove any gateways by using the REMOVE_GATEWAY command in the routing table update file itself."
    It seems counter-intuitive to leave
Make this connection the default gateway selected, when I specifically don't want that behaviour, but leaving it selected and using REMOVE_GATEWAY works for me.

  • Error 720 when establishing VPN connection to RRAS server in Windows 8.1

    Hi,
I am unable to establish a VPN connection to my Windows Server 2008 R2 RRAS server. I have tried all protocols, but always getting the same error: "Error 720: A connection to the remote computer could not be established. You might need to change
the network settings for this connection".
I am able to connect using another Windows 7 computer, on the same network and with exactly the same VPN parameters. So this is clearly not a problem with RRAS, the remote router or firewall and/or the local router.
Strangely, the connection works by unchecking IPv4 and checking IPv6 in the connection properties. But I need IPv4 to work. All IPv4 settings are blank, nothing statically configured here.
Note: This is a clean install of Windows 8.1, not an upgrade from a previous version.
Thank you for helping me out!

    Hi,
This behavior can occur if your computer and the RAS server don't have a protocol in common, or if RAS is not configured correctly. The error code 720 indicates no PPP control protocols configured.
Assuming the RRAS is using, we need to make the Windows client is running PPTP too. To do this follow these steps:
    1. Right click VPN connection, and then click Properties.
    2. In the VPN Connection Properties dialog box, click the Networking tab, and make sure you have a protocol that the RAS server runing.
If you don't have a protocol that the RAS server is running, add the needed protocol:
    1. Click install, click Protocol, and then click Add;
    2. Click the protocol that you need to install, and then click OK.
    3. Click Close in the VPN Connection Properties dialog box.

  • RasClient:dialed a connection named "VPN Connection Name " which has failed. The error code returned on failure is 789 on windows 8.1

    Hello,
i am trying to connect to my corporation VPN Server " ISA 2006" using windows 8.1 client built in VPN,  but its returned the following error:
Event ID 20227: dialed a connection named "VPN connection Name" which has failed. The error code returned on failure is 789.
VPN connection is working fine with windows XP and windows 7 with no issue , this error is only appear when try to connect to using windows 8 client machine.
this error is shows only on windows 8.1 client , same procedures used to enroll the certificate from internal CA " IPsec Type" is followed .
below are the  ISA server specifications:
    VPN Server : ISA 2006.
    windows Server version 2003.
appreciate your quick help and reply .
    Thanks

    Thanks for your reply.
i would like to add another point for this case, that when we are trying to enroll a certificate from internal CA web enrollment directly using windows 8 " internet explorer 11"  , its install a certificate without Digital
Signature and non-repudiation in key usage property, then when try to connect , its will give the above error 789 ..
when try to enroll a certificate into windows 7 " internet explorer 10" and then export and import  this certificate into windows 8.1 machine "with the name of
windows 8.1 machine" into windows 8.1 machine, the VPN is working normally and without issue.
The properties of the Certificate are difference between windows 7 machine and windows 8 machine is key usage missing the Digital Signature and non-repudiation properties when enroll
from windows  8.1 " internet explorer 11", this is in fact because of
we don't have an option for key usage " both" when subment a certificate on web enrollment page from windows 8 machine ,, the only option available is exchange "
no signature and both option available "
i believe that there is something wrong when using windows 8.1 internet explorer 11 so its gave a certificate with wrong key usage property .
appreciate your quick help in this .
    thanks

  • Editing vpn connection causes timeout error+ssh proxy error, related?

Using plasma5, nothing fancy in my setup.
When i try to edit openvpn connection initially connection window is all blank but the connection name. After a good while controls appear and im greeted with this message:
Also when i try to connect to ssh that uses proxy i get this:
    ~ % ssh server
Pass a valid window to KWallet::Wallet::openWallet().
The kwalletd service has been registered
Invalid DBus reply:  QDBusError("org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply", "Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus)")
QDBusConnection: name 'org.kde.kwalletd5' had owner '' but we thought it was ':1.10408'
FATAL: Cannot get password for user: bit
ssh_exchange_identification: Connection closed by remote host
    Proxy is configured as:
    ProxyCommand connect -5 -S localhost:9050 $(tor-resolve %h localhost:9050) %p
Briefly i can see kwallet dialog asking for credentials but then it is replaced by ksshaskpass dialog asking for proxy password. When i start kwallet application window is basically frozen, can resize it only in small bits as if it was waiting on something for second or so and only processing GUI messages for a moment. After a while window can be resized easily but it is still blank, no controls, menus also get stuck until i terminate application forcibly.
Any idea what am i missing here?

    Hi
There are many reasons for the error and they are as follows:
The user is behind a firewall that is blocking ports UDP 4500/500 and/or ESP.
The VPN client is using connecting on TCP and the default TCP port 10000 for NAT is blocked.
The internet connection is not stable and some packets are not reaching the ASA or the replies from the ASA aren’t getting to the client, hence the client thinks the server is no longer available.
The VPN client is behind a NAT device and the ASA doesn’t have NAT-T enabled. In this case the user will not be able to send or receive traffic at all. It will be able to connect but that’s all. After some time the software client deletes the VPN tunnel.
    Suggested solutions:
If you are using wireless, try to connect with cable
Turn your firewall off, then test the connection to see whether the problem still occurs. If it doesn’t then you can turn your firewall back on, add exception rules for port 500, port 4500 and the ESP protocol in your firewall
Turn on NAT-T/TCP in your profile ( remember to unblock port 10000 in your firewall)
Edit your profile with your editor and change ForceKeepAlive=0 to 1

  • AnyConnect 3.1.01065 error - Failed to install AnyConnect VPN Profile because of file move error. A VPN connection cannot be established.

    I've got a user running:
    AnyConnect 3.1.01065
    on
    Windows 7 64bit.
Several weeks ago she started encountering the following error:
-after logging into Windows and launching the AnyConnect client, she enters her username and password and successfully authenticates.
-the connection is not established and she's presented with the following message: "Failed to install AnyConnect VPN Profile because of file move error. A VPN connection cannot be established."
After doing some troubleshooting, inlcuding uninstalling/reinstalling the anyconnect client, it seems the culprit is the following file:
C:\ProgramData\Cisco\Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client\Profile\<filename>.xml. When the problem occurs (which is not regularly, sometimes it occurs daily, sometimes just once a week) examining that file indicates it has no security or permissions set. Quitting the AnyConnect software, modifying the file so that the user has full control of it, then relaunching AnyConnect fixes the problem (until it happens again). Uninstalling, and making sure to move C:\ProgramData\Cisco to the trash, then reinstalling did not seem to help.
The closest match in these forums is the following thread, https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/3760446 - though no clear resolution was given.
Has anyone else encountered this, and been able to fix it?
    Thanks much.

Just FYI, it seems at least in this case, purging all the previous system restore points seems to have resolved this issue...

  • VPN connection terminated, Smartcard Error - AnyConnect 3.1.03103

    Hello,
we have upgradet our AnyConnect Client from V3.0.4235 to V3.1.03103. After the upgrade, I can me authenticate with RSA. After authentication, the AnyConnect will startup the connection but it failed with the error message "VPN connection terminated, Smartcard Error". We use the mashine certificate to encrypt the SSL-connection. We don't use smart cards. When I disable the smartcard reader (DELL Wireless 5540 HSPA Mini-Card USIM Port) in the device manager, the connection is established.
In the version 3.0.08057 it works too. The error is only from verion 3.1.03103 and only on Windows 7 Prof. Under Win XP it works.
How can I disable the query the smartcard?
    Thanks for help or answers.
    Daniel

    Hi Daniel,
This is a known issue on systems with the Dell 5540, and 5550 card, Cisco bug ID is CSCue30862. You cannot disable querying of this card.  The fix for this issue is in the next release of AnyConnect.

  • Error 807/800 - using PPTP VPN from Windows 7/XP t...

    Hi,
I wonder if someone could help me? I've had this issue for about 3 months now and I’m completely at a loss now. I’m trying to connect remotely to a Windows 2003 server via Windows VPN (PPTP) from home. This had been working fine for months (Draytek 2830n purchased in Feb 2011), there has been no configuration changes beforehand to cause the problem.
    Problem
From Windows 7 PC – I receive Error 807 – “The network connection between your computer and the VPN server was interrupted. This can be caused by a problem in the VPN transmission and is commonly the result of internet latency or simply that your VPN server has reached capacity. Please try to reconnect to the VPN server. If this problem persists, contact the VPN administrator and analyze quality of network connectivity”
From a Windows XP PC – I receive Error 800 - Unable to establish the VPN connection. The VPN server may be unreachable, or security parameters may not be configured properly for this connection”
    Steps Taken
I have carried out the following steps to trying and resolve the issue:-
    Setup port 1723 on router(s)
Swapped out router for a completely different model
    Upgraded firmware on Drayek 2830N
Tried various laptops and desktop PCs running Windows XP and Windows 7
Switched off local windows firewalls and Norton Anti-virus software
Opted out of BT Web Address Help service
Rebuilt the Windows 2003 Server and setup remote access again.
Tested the desktops and laptops that didn’t work at home from various locations (work, friends houses) and they work fine from another location (so this rules out the Windows 2003
The only thing that I can’t swap out is my BT line to the Exchange. Any ideas or suggestions would be extremely helpful. I’m thinking it must be a problem with my ADSL connection, perhaps the traffic is being blocked (for some reason) as I’ve explored all other avenues. I’m out of contract with BT now (although I don’t want to move ISP) I might end up having to if it solves the problem.
    Many thanks for looking.
    Steve

posted in error as you've already looked at BT web address help. Sorry

  • Windows Blue Screen Error Message Appears As Soon As IPod Connected

Everytime I connect my IPod to my computer, I get the Windows Blue Screen error message. Thought it was the cable, so plugged cable in by itself. No problem. Uninstalled IPod and ITunes software and then plugged in IPod, still got the Blue Screen. The Blue Screen says something about "recent plugged in device problem". It is not the cable, it must be the IPod. Did not have this problem when I bought it. Tried it on labtop and get the same error message. I can't do updater or anything that requires me to plug the IPod into a computer because the Blue Screen appears immediately. When I unplug, the Blue Screen remains and locks up the computer so I have to restart each time. I have tried everything I can think of. Please help.

Hi Mike thank you for replying,
I am not able to start the computer in safe mode, safe mode with networking, last good known configuration etc, Each time it quickly blue screens and restarts about two secs into the process.
I was unable to try a clean OS install from the disk as it gave the blue screen error shown in the original post. The same thing happened when I tried to use the repair option on the XP home disc. So i can't get into the computer at all to start diagnosing the fault, the only clue I have is the error message, and after searching the internet I haven't found much enlightenment from that yet.
If you can help me out or suggest where to search it would be much appreciated.
    Thx

  • Window 8.1 system unable to access network shares via VPN connection

Is there something inherent to Windows 8.1 that prevents it from accessing shares on a domain?
I know that it cannot join a domain, but does that also mean that it cannot access shares which are on a domain?
My problem is that I have several user that are running windows 8.1 that are connecting to our network via a VPN.
The users have domain accounts but their computers as windows 8.1 cannot joined to the domain.
So to access network shares they have to use their domain credentials to create a VPN connection.
Once connected the user can RDP to systems on the domain using their domain accounts, so I know that their user names/passwords and permissions are correct. They can access these systems using the computer name, so I don't feel that I have a DNS issue.
They can see the shares on our file server, but when they try to access their departments shared file, they receive an access denied message. There are a few shares that are completely wide open, shared to all users and all departments but they cannot access
    those shares either.
You can ping the file server, from the the client when they are connected to the VPN but you just cannot access any of the shares.
    So...
I am thinking that it has something to do with windows 8.1 and not being able to join a domain, but I cannot find anything to explicitly support this thought.
Other users running a variety different OS (windows 7, OSX, Linux) can all access the shares without any problems via the VPN, so I am a little stumped.

I have done some more testing and oddly enough I can map a drive if I use the IPaddress, but not the computer name, when checking the check box "connect using different credentials"and providing they users domain credentials.
This seems to point to a DNS issue, one would think, but I can hit the file share server by name \\fileserver.dev.lan
I can see all the shares, so dns seems to be fine right?
So I don't understand why I can map a drive using do the IPaddress and not the machine name, but yet I can see and ping the server by name?
When I try to create a mapped drive by machine name I receive the following message:
    Windows cannot access \\fileserver.dev.lan\all
You do not have permissions to access \\fileserver.dev.lan. contact your network administrator  to request access.
But if I use the \\x.x.x.x\all using the very same user and password I get connected with no problem.
This only seems to happen on windows 8.1, which leads me to think that has something to do with OS.
I am thinking about upgrading to windows 8.1 pro, but I don't want to go though the hassle and expanse is the OS is not the problem.

  • CM1312 NFP: WIndows 7: USB Error message ~"Lost Connection"

With the 1312 connected to my Windwos 7 desktop, periodically Windows gives an error message that indicates that it has lost connection to the printer.  Unplugging and replugging the USB cable fixes the problem.  Otherwise the print & scan functions work perfectly.  Symptomatically it appears as if the printer goes to sleep and stops responding to whatever "keep alive" messages Windows might be sending.  Is there a setting in the printer, in Windows or in the printer driver software that can prevent this message?
BTW, the other way to work around this problem is to just access the printer via the Ethernet but the scan funciton is not accessible via the network (an unfortunate limitation).

    aluniewski,
I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial printer. You can do this at http://h30499.www3.hp.com/hpeb/ .
    I hope this helps.
