VPN issues after updating to Cisco AnyConnect 3.1.04072?

Even after downloading the most recent version of Cisco Client 3.1.04072 (see below) I'm still getting a periodic disconnect and reconnect from my VPN client.  Issue only seems to occur when I'm connecting from outside my company's wi-fi network.  Happens on both my personal and on public wi-fi.  Is anyone else experiencing a similar issue?
Changes in AnyConnect 3.1.04072 (and 3.1.04074)
The Mac OS X versions of AnyConnect were updated to 3.1.04074 to resolve the problem of frequent disconnects of the AnyConnect VPN on systems running Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks). Apple is aware of this issue and you can reference Apple Bug Report ID 15261749 if you want to open your own case with them. AnyConnect 3.1.0474 also supports Mac OS X 10.8, 10.7 and 10.6.
Once Apple provides a fix for OS X 10.9, we may choose to retract this workaround. At that time, both versions 3.1.04074 and 3.1.04072 of AnyConnect will work reliably with Mac OS X 10.9.
Defect CSCui69769 was fixed by version 3.1.0704.
AnyConnect 3.1.04072 is a maintenance release that resolves the defects described in Caveats Resolved by AnyConnect 3.1.04072 and is compatible with Host Scan Engine Update, 3.1.04075.

Pete is right, I apparently don't know how to read version numbers!  I downloaded the 3.1.05152 version of Cisco AnyConnect, and I no longer experience the reconnect issue on Mavericks.  Yea!
In my defense, there is no such version 3.1.04074 listed on the download page:
http://software.cisco.com/portal/pub/download/portal/select.html?&mdfid=28300018 5&flowid=17001&softwareid=282364313
So I mistakenly downloaded 3.1.04072 in a moment of dyslexia.  I suspect I'm not the first person to come along and do this!
PS:  You need a service contract with Cisco to download this file.  If you don't have one, and/or your IT administrator isn't able to provide you with one, you might try doing a google search for the actual filename:  anyconnect-macosx-i386-3.1.05152-k9.dmg.  If you go this route, at least compare the md5 checksum with the one listed on Cisco's website (it shows up if you hover your cursor over the file) to ensure you're not running a hacked VPN client.  For example, running "md5 anyconnect-macosx-i386-3.1.05152-k9.dmg" should produce a884f2092d08f006b2dc3a5054988f1c.  If it does not, it's not the same binary as on Cisco's downloads page so you probably don't want to run it.

  • VPN issues after update to 10.3.1 on z30

I just installed the 10.3.1.1581 (OS version: 10.3.1.2267) upgrade and now the client certificates I had already installed are not listed in the 'client certificates' dropdown in my VPN configuration.  I thought they were deleted, so I tried importing them one by one by installing a .pfx file, but this didn't work.  The list still comes up blank:   Has anything changed with respect to how the OS handles certificates, or newly required flags?  I am presently generating client certificates with strongswan: First, generate a CA: ipsec pki --gen --outform pem > caKey.pem
    ipsec pki --self --in caKey.pem --dn "C=CA, O=none, CN=CA-AUTH" --san="CA-AUTH" --ca --outform pem > caCert.pem
    Then the client certs:
ipsec pki --gen --outform pem > userKey.pem
ipsec pki --pub --in userKey.pem | ipsec pki --issue --cacert caCert.pem --cakey caKey.pem --dn "C=CA, O=none, CN=bb10" --san "[email protected]"  --flag clientAuth --outform pem > userCert.pem

The following seems to work, though I am not sure what caused the error.  I think the --flag clientAuth field is now mandatory when generating the client certificate, and the -name, -caname fields when generating the .pfx file.  I also followed the recommend importing procedure as outline in the bb 10.3.1 manual, instead of just opening the file anywhere in file manager (not sure if this actually makes any diff):  Generate a Certificate authority
ipsec pki --gen --outform pem > caKey.pem
    ipsec pki --self --in caKey.pem --dn "C=CA, O=none, CN=Cert-Auth" --san="Cert-Auth" --ca --outform pem > caCert.pem
    Generate a server certificate:
ipsec pki --gen --outform pem > serverKey.pem
    ipsec pki --pub --in serverKey.pem | ipsec pki --issue --cacert caCert.pem --cakey caKey.pem --dn "C=CA, O=none, CN=yourdomain-dot-com" --san="yourdomain-dot-com" --flag serverAuth --outform pem > serverCert.pem
    Generate your client certificates:
ipsec pki --gen --outform pem > userKey.pem
ipsec pki --pub --in userKey.pem | ipsec pki --issue --cacert caCert.pem --cakey caKey.pem --dn "C=CA, O=none, CN=device-name" --san "device-name@yourdomain-dot-com" --flag clientAuth --outform pem > userCert.pem
    Generate .pfx file to import
    openssl pkcs12 -export -inkey userKey.pem -in userCert.pem -name "device-name" -certfile caCert.pem -caname "Cert-Auth" -out bb-certs.pfx
Import the certificates on to your device (Copied from the 10.3.1 manual)
    1. Tap Settings > About.
    2. In the Category drop-down list, tap Network.
    3. In the Wi-Fi or USB section, make note of the IPv4 address.
    4. On your computer, navigate to and copy a certificate file:
    (a) If your computer uses a Windows operating system, in a Run command, type the IP address in the following format: \\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
    (b) If your computer uses a Windows operating system, open the media\downloads folder. If necessary, enter the username and storage access password
    5. Paste the certificate into the media\downloads or media/downloads folder.
    6. On your device, tap > Security and Privacy > Certificates > Import
    7. Select the certificate file in the media\downloads folder, and follow the instructions on the screen

There is an explanation in the following link in the section "What's new in version 3.0.09440" that there was a problem with the update. It's available again now. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/cisco-anyconnect/id392790924?mt=8

  • Syncing issues after updating to 10.3.1.55

After upgrading to itunes 10.3.1.55, today, it no longer recognizes my iPhone 4. I plug it in, the iPhone makes its normal syncing noice. I get a prompt, like always about it recognizing the camera and how i want to handle it. I cancel it, as usual, and then it never shows up in iTunes. I close itunes, connect my phone and it does not start itunes as it normally should. No error messages, just no response. Can anyone help with ideas?

I had the same issue, after updating to 10.3.1.55 it would error out saying something along the lines of not being able to read the catalog or something.  I think the error even states do a restore to fix it.  Last night that is what I did, clicked restore and then had it transfer all my items back.  I'm glad I had just synced my phone prior to the update so the restore was really current.

Its not a network issue as well, since i am typing this on Firefox, which is running perfectly
    What could be the reason?

I'm having the same issue on my iMac. I've also noticed the rear of the left side is getting a lot hotter than normal.

  • Issues after updating iPhone3GS to iOS5 on TIM cellular data network (Italy)

    Hi everyone
I have issues after updating iPhone3GS to iOS5 on TIM cellular data network.
After installing iOS5 I had to switch from apn ibox.tim.it to wap.tim.it
Since then the phone is unusable for any internet activity that is barely "data demanding" (e.g facebook app take literaly hours to update), everyting requires way to much time... the iPhone is not an iPhone anymore... it's worse than my blackberry with just GPRS on it.
TIM technical support suggested me to switch back on apn ibox.tim.it, but then I would not be able to use internet tethering anymore (they say because of Apple iOS5) ... to bad I need internet tethering for work.
I am seriously thinking to switch ISP or phone.
Anyone did experience same problem / found a solution?

    Hi Raia.D,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The first thing I would suggest is to restart your iPhone.  Then tap the Settings app, and you should see Cellular listed on the main settings screen.  You should see Airplane Mode, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and then Cellular.
Here are some additional troubleshooting steps to try:

  • How to disable product update on Cisco AnyConnect mobility client

    Hallo,
Do you anybody know how to disable/turn off "Checking for product update" during _every_ connecting Cisco Anyconnect Secure Mobility Client (VPN) to remote sites?
I found it may by possible on the ASA side, but I need to disable it on the client (computer). I can see that checking is NOT during connecting to my company site, but when connecting to ANY OTHER site everytime is new version checked. It takes some time ... and I need to switch between VPN often.
    Thank you for your help!
    Regards, Ondrej

You should be able to do this in the AnyConnect local policy. Just add (or edit, if you already have a local policy file) the following to the local policy file:
    <!--?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?-->
    <anyconnectlocalpolicy acversion="2.4.140" xmlns="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/encoding/" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemalocation="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/encoding/ AnyConnectLocalPolicy.xsd">
    <BypassDownloader>true</BypassDownloader>
    </AnyConnectLocalPolicy>
The local policy file can be found here:
    Windows Vista/7/8: C:\ProgramData\Cisco\Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client\AnyConnectLocalPolicy.xml
    Linux/Mac: /opt/cisco/anyconnect/AnyConnectLocalPolicy.xml
See the Enabling FIPS and Additional Security in the Local Policy section of the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client Administrator Guide, Release 3.1 for more details.

Captive Portal Hotspot Detection and Remediation Requirements
Support for both captive portal detection and remediation requires one of the following licenses:
    •AnyConnect Premium (SSL VPN Edition)
    •Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility
You can use a Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility license to provide  support for captive portal detection and remediation in combination with  either an AnyConnect Essentials or an AnyConnect Premium license.
Captive portal detection and remediation support only computers running  Microsoft Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP and Mac OS X  10.5,10.6, and 10.7.
    Captive Portal Hotspot Detection
AnyConnect displays the "Unable to contact VPN server" message on the GUI if it cannot connect, regardless of the cause. VPN server specifies the secure gateway. If always-on is enabled, and a captive  portal is not present, the client continues to attempt to connect to the  VPN and updates the status message accordingly.
If always-on VPN is enabled, the connect failure policy is closed,  captive portal remediation is disabled, and AnyConnect detects the  presence of a captive portal, the AnyConnect GUI displays the following  message once per connection and once per reconnect:
The service provider in your current location is restricting access to the Internet.
The AnyConnect protection settings must be lowered for you to log on with the service
provider. Your current enterprise security policy does not allow this.
If AnyConnect detects the presence of a captive portal and the  AnyConnect configuration differs from that described above, the  AnyConnect GUI displays the following message once per connection and  once per reconnect:
The service provider in your current location is restricting access to the Internet. You need to log on with the service provider before you can establish a VPN session. You can try this by visiting any website with your browser.
Captive portal detection is enabled by default, and is non-configurable.
AnyConnect does not modify any browser configuration settings during Captive Portal detection.

  • Lumia 1520 Battery Discharge Issue After Updating ...

After updating to Denim, my Nokia Lumia 1520 started to experience the following symptoms:
Phone charges to 100%, I disconnect and use an app like Instagram BETA, Internet Explorer, Lumia Camera, or any game--after no more than 5 minutes of use, the phone gives a "Critical Low Battery" alert and shuts down. If I try to restart phone immediately, it makes it to the AT&T splash screen or lockscreen and then same battery message appears and shuts down. If I wait 10-15 minutes after the shutdown to restart phone (without recharging) the phone will stay on, but battery level will report to be in the low 20s or 10s (whereas no more than 20 minutes ago, it was 100%).
When phone is at 100% battery: I take 2-5 photos or record mere seconds of video and I get the same "Critical Low Battery" alert. Upon restarting, some of the photos or video are nonexistent or corrupt files and battery level is reported at 2-5%.
However, if my phone is plugged in to charger, none of these "Critical Low Battery" alerts come up and I am able to use phone as usual. Considering that I cannot take a vacation and capture nature's beauty with an AC adapter always connected, this is a serious drawback.
    Steps I've Taken:
    Soft-reset
    Full factory-reset
Moved all apps off microSD card (this improved situation maybe 5%)
Disabled almost all background app use in Battery Saver
Replaced microSD card when I thought this was a memory write/read issue
Installed "Battery" app to monitor battery use. After 750 data points were logged, my average battery life is reported at "16 minutes," which sounds about right.
My warranty should be expired since I purchased the phone December 2013, so I'm checking in here if anybody has had any luck with battery replacements or with a solution to this issue? At the same time, this issue arose strictly after updating to Denim and I've seen other users report this EXACT scenario. Is there any hope for Lumia 1520 users on this?
    Other reported cases:
Battery Issue after Denim update: http://forums.windowscentral.com/nokia-lumia-1520/347112-battery-issue-after-denim-update.html

Hi albertico, TeJazz, and Samgh. Welcome to the Microsoft Mobile Community. We understand your situation and in response to this issue, we suggest that you perform the suggestions in the photo attached. If the issue persists, we recommend recovering your phone's software using the Windows Phone Recovery Tool. This link will work regardless of your location. If the same thing happens, it's best to take your phone to the nearest Care Point in your area for evaluation. Backup first to avoid data loss.

  • Logic Remote connectivity issues after updating to iOS 8 (solved!)

Has anyone else has been experiencing connectivity issues with Logic Remote after updating to iOS 8?
After updating to iOS 8 I could no longer connect so I sent a feedback report to Apple and got a response that cleared up my problem immediately:
Navigate to the following directory on your desktop system running GarageBand:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.garageband10/Data/Library/Preferences/
You can quickly navigate there using the “Go” menu in Finder -> Go To Folder (shift-command-G), then copy this path:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.garageband10/Data/Library/Preferences/
In the Preferences folder should be a file named "com.apple.garageband10.cs”.
Make sure GarageBand is not running and delete the  "com.apple.garageband10.cs” file.
Relaunch GarageBand and see if you should now be able to connect.
The same can be done for Logic by navigating to:
    ~/Library/Preferences/
And deleting "com.apple.logic.pro.cs" and restarting Logic.
Note that doing this will fix Logic Remote connectivity issues (and possibly other problems with latency and mixer functionality)  but will also delete any other Controller settings that you've configured with Logic, if you happen to be using another controller of some sort.

Thanks very much!  This solved my connection problem.

  • "No Service" issue after updating iOS 8.1

My iPhone 5 is really giving trouble after updating all iOS 8.01, iOS 8.02 & iOS 8.1. Cellular network is come to halt, "No Service" issue is regular and i am not able to use my iPhone 5 as phone.
Please help me out else i have to switch to some other phone.

I have similar problem but with a 6:   bought new iPhone 6 four days ago, phone and 3G signal were fine in UK from Sat to Mon.   Yesterday, I traveled to Belgium and have had 'no service' problem since.   I am carrying a Nokia feature phone which is locked on to local network and working fine.
If I power off the iPhone and power on, it comes back and joins the network.   Five or so minutes later, it has dropped the network and will not re-attach if I put in/out of flight mode; needs power reset, and then drops again.
It is conceivable that this is a carrier issue but given that Nokia is fine and all the postings that I'm finding on various discussion sites, then I feel that it is an iOS issue.   I'm booked in to visit the Apple Store at the weekend.   My previous iPhone 4S was running iOS 7 and had no such problems.
So, carrying an expensive brick at the moment and hoping for an iOS update that will resolve this.

  • MacBook Pro issues after updating to iOS8

After updating to iOS8 I ran into some strange issues (listed below) for the first time ever. Some of them I noticed the next day, others a couple of days later...
    - all my contacts disappeared in "contacts"
    - all my contacts disappeared in "Skype"
    - my background picture disappeared
    - all my folders in the launchpad were unpacked and all the summarized apps were scattered all over the launchpad.
All those things happened while the computer was in sleep mode, not turned off and didn't return to normal after restarts.
I got everything restored/reorganized but keep wondering if somebody else experienced something similar.
    Thanks for your help.

Well, if your Contacts have disappeared, then under System Preferences, click on iCloud and make sure you are signed into iCloud. If you are not, sign in. If you are, sign out and then back in to see if that restores your contacts.
I take it you have already restarted your Mac? If not, do that as well.
    Best of luck,
