VPN mit Cisco RV180W / IPSec
hallo liebe Leute,
Danach kommen jedoch zwei Fehler: "invalied encryption algorithm=0" & "does not have mode config" - Ich habe etwas reserchiert und das gefunden:
https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-13711
Danke!

My company purchased one Cisco RV180W wireless router few days ago and it worked normal with default firmware version of 1.0.0.30. Today I upgraded the firmware to version 1.0.3.10, the users can still access this router via wired and wireless devices, but on the dashboard I observed two major problems, one is the CPU utilization always shows 100%, another is the more and more errors appearing, on the Syslog Summary panel "Error" log has been up to 625 and is still increasing, there is one message repeatedly displaying in the log, see in below:
Wed Nov 13 13:55:25 2013(GMT+0800) [rv180w][System][PLATFORM] /pfrm2.0/bin/bwLimitConfig /tmp/system.db 18 dot11STA 100 failed. status=-1
Who can tell me what does this error message mean and how to elinate this error message ? also how to deal with 100% CPU utilization ?
Thanks.Hello,
i have been looking at different VPN routers over the last few weeks and i was very close to buying the RV180W, but then i stumbled across many posts reffering to firmware issues, one issue is that the cpu sits at 100% useage, i just wondered if this is a bug in GUI or is the CPU actually max'd out? has anyone had any resolution into this?
also the firmware on the emulator is a newer version than is listed on the support page, does anyone know when 1.0.3.14 will be released for download?
when i buy a new product i like to ensure that the system is fully upto date before its put into use but i obviously dont want to add any performance issues from the ofset due to the CPU useage.
i also have a could of questions if anyone can help
the Ipsec VPN, will this work with the Built-in VPN client for apple devices? (New IOS7), i am unable to find a quickvpn application for apple IOS.
is the site-to-site IPSec VPN also compatible with the Cisco Wvrs4400n router?
thanks in advance. -
Hello,
I have a question, we would like to purchase a Cisco RV180W or a Cisco 220W.
We have read on the Internet that the 180W is updated to also use the 5 GHz frequency. We would like to know if this is true.
I know that on the 220W both are available but not in the same time.
We need a device that has simultanaous Wifi 2.5 and 5 ghz together at the same time.
Why the 180 or 220, well we need the 1GB connections, verry fast VPN site to site Ipsec troughput and off course both frequencies.
Can someone please give us some advise.
Many thx.Hi There,
Thank you for your answer, i have the specifications from the Cisco site. (datasheets) but i read on the Intrenet that Cisco has an update for the RV180 so that this device can use both 2.4 and 5 GHz. I just want to know this is true.
See this link:
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2404619,00.asp
Under Features, you can read the folowwing:
Cisco upgraded the RV180W to broadcast on both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz-band and included WDS bridging/repeating and WEP/WPA/WPA2 consumer and Enterprise wireless security.

Azure Site to Site VPN with Cisco ASA 5505
I have got Cisco ASA 5505 device (version 9.0(2)). And i cannot connect S2S with azure (azure network alway in "connecting" state). In my cisco log:

I have done all cisco s2s congiguration over standard wizard cos seems your script for 8.x version of asa only?
(Does azure support 9.x version of asa?)
How can i fix it?Hi,
As of now, we do not have any scripts for Cisco ASA 9x series.
Thank you for your interest in Windows Azure. The Dynamic routing is not supported for the Cisco ASA family of devices.
Unfortunately, a dynamic routing VPN gateway is required for Multi-Site VPN, VNet to VNet, and Point-to-Site.
However, you should be able to setup a site-to-site VPN with Cisco ASA 5505 series security appliance as
demonstrated in this blog:
Step-By-Step: Create a Site-to-Site VPN between your network and Azure
http://blogs.technet.com/b/canitpro/archive/2013/10/09/step-by-step-create-a-site-to-site-vpn-between-your-network-and-azure.aspx
You can refer to this article for Cisco ASA templates for Static routing:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/dn133793.aspx
Did you download the VPN configuration file from the dashboard and copy the content of the configuration
file to the Command Line Interface of the Cisco ASDM application? It seems that there is no specified IP address in the access list part and maybe that is why the states message appeared.
According to the
Cisco ASA template, it should be similar to this:
access-list <RP_AccessList>
extended permit ip object-group
<RP_OnPremiseNetwork> object-group <RP_AzureNetwork>
nat (inside,outside) source static <RP_OnPremiseNetwork>
<RP_OnPremiseNetwork> destination static <RP_AzureNetwork>
<RP_AzureNetwork>
Based on my experience, to establish
IPSEC tunnel, you need to allow the ESP protocol and UDP Port 500. Please make sure that the
VPN device cannot be located behind a NAT. Besides, since Cisco ASA templates are not
compatible for dynamic routing, please make sure that you chose the static routing.
Since you configure the VPN device yourself, it's important that you would be familiar with the device and its configuration settings.
Hope this helps you.

Hello, I have been trying to configure a VPN with Cisco Asa 5505 and Cisco VPN client 5.X for 3 weeks and I am not being able to accomplish it, so I decided to reset to factory defaults and start over again.
I used ASDM 6.4 VPN wizard to configure it (I selected exempt local network from NAT and enabled split tunneling, but I have tried other combinations as well).
Tunnel seems to be established properly since I do see an endpoint while using 'sh crypto isakmp sa' but 'sh crypto ipsec sa' shows no packets encrypted or decrypted, so VPN is not working as expected. I can't ping or rdp to internal LAN:
#pkts encaps: 0, #pkts encrypt: 0, #pkts digest: 0
#pkts decaps: 0, #pkts decrypt: 0, #pkts verify: 0
The running-config it created is:

Thank you very much for your helpYes, it was a VPN client problem. I was doing test with a WWAN card and it seems it is not compatible with windows 7.
• The VPN Client on Windows 7 does not support WWAN devices (also called wireless data cards).
I should have read Release Notes before. Thank you very much for your help and effort. -
Remote Access VPN on Cisco ASA Problem
Hi, i configured Remote access VPN on Cisco ASA 8.x as per below configuration.
Problem is that my internet has stopped working, and default route is just showing stars.
i can ping internal server 10.110.10.150 fine , which i allowed on VPN ACL, but my other traffic not going to regular internet on my laptop,
what additional required to force my internet to go to regular internet instead of getting encrypted?
Also attaching output of route print at the point when VPN is connected.

I don't hve any NAT-exemptions in Cisco IOS Router. Transform-set I will change soon, but I've tried with tunnel mode and it didn't work.
Maybe NAT-exemptions is the issue. Can you advice me which exemptions should be in Cisco IOS Router?
Because on Cisco ASA I guess I have everything.

Problems w/ VPN Server & Cisco VPN Client on same machine
I really wish that I read about how the developer of the program iVPN no longer supports his work BEFORE I paid for it. It's a great, simple, GUI frontend to the existing Leopard VPN server built in to regular (non-server) OSX...
Anyway, on my Mac that stays @ home:
(1) - I have the iVPN server set up & running to allow me to connect (from my iphone or another computer on the road) to my Mac @ home using L2TP.
(2) - When I'm @ home and need to connect to my company's network, I need to use the Cisco VPN Client (which uses IPSec etc).
So, I found out that when I need to use my Mac to connect to work, I first have to open up the iVPN server to click "Stop Server" (which has me enter my password twice sometimes). Now I close iVPN until I'm done, then open up Activity Monitor for the purpose of finding the still-running process "racoon". I realized this not because it's published info, but because if I don't do this, and try to connect to work using the Cisco VPN Client, it simply will not connect. So, I quit the process "racoon" (which also has me enter my password because it's running as root yada yada). NOW, I can load Cisco VPN Client and successfully connect to my company's network. When I'm finished here, I disconnect the C.V.C., then reopen iVPN Server and restart my server (enter password again).
Is there any way I can make the process "racoon" quit automatically when I turn off the iVPN server? I'd email the developer but I guess that's a lost cause now. It's a shame because he did a fabulous job making iVPN & gave the less computer-networking-literate-user the ability to create their own VPN server without using Terminal.
I thought about the possibility of using iVPN to create a PPTP connection instead of L2TP - thinking that would allow me to keep my iVPN PPTP server running at all times, even when I wanted to use the CVC to connect OUT to work - but:
(1) - I would like the increased security of L2TP.
(2) - When I tried running a PPTP server, and connecting to it from iPhone or other computer, I was NOT able to access the other devices on my network, or the internet. I couldn't even open up a webpage to check whatismyip.com (while sending all traffic over VPN). And yes, the IP Address Range that I have iVPN handing out is within my normal home network's range.
My end goal for all of this when using my Mac is to be able to leave my iVPN server running at all times, while still being able to run the Cisco VPN CLIENT to connect to my company's network.
Or, at least not having to open up Activity Monitor to quit the process racoon... let alone having to enter my password 3 times after opening up iVPN, again to stop the server, again to quit the process racoon. Then a forth when I'm all done and need to start the iVPN server again.
Am I going about this the wrong way? Is there an easier way to accomplish these secure connections? There is a slight possibility of me upgrading and running a dedicated Mac Mini server of some sort perhaps with the real OSX Server. But not right now. I think I'm over complicating this. I mean, my needs are pretty simple:
(1) - Need to connect TO my Mac from IPhone / someone else's Mac or PC for: VNC over SSH, SSH/SFTP file level access, in the future shared network volumes (time capsule). I'd use Back To My Mac for all of this but I don't always connect FROM a Mac.
(2) - Need to connect FROM my Mac to work VPN for: VNC to my work PC to access our company's Windows-only program (dual booting into boot camp or using a virtual machine is out of the question), using Mocha for AS400 access, thinking about using file sharing on work PC but not needed so far.
So it's really just VNC and sometimes SFTP. The "S" being important to me. That's why I don't like the idea of doing away with my iVPN server and just forwarding the outside ports. I use the Vine VNC Server which when checked, only allows access over SSH. The only other remote-logins are used from my iphone using an app called BriefCase (SSH to browse files on remote machine), or using an SFTP client on a computer.
Thank you for reading all of this, and in advance for any insight you can offer. If the two servers need the same ports, then hosting two different VPN packages on the same box usually won't work.
A firewall-based VPN service can be an option; that external box can deal with NAT and routing and other such and can field incoming or LAN-to-LAN VPNs, and your internal Mac boxes located "behind" that box can be free to initiate outbound VPNs. -

Which VPN Providers does RV180W work with?
Hi-
I just bought a Cisco RV180W Wireless-N Multifunction VPN Router, however my current VPN provider doesn’t support it (They only support OpenVPN with DDRT flashed hardware).
Here’s the technical details of the router: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps10907/ps9923/ps11996/c78-697399_data_sheet.html
As a result, I'm looking for a VPN provider that I can use this device with and I am hoping you can help.
Has anyone successfully used this router with a VPN provider? And, for extra credit, does anyone have step-by-step instructions for setting it up?
Thanks.
MattHi Tom,
Thanks for the reply, but it doesn't address my question.
I live in China. I want all of my PC's and devices to connect through the RV180W VPN Router to a VPN provider in the US so that all of my traffic is encrypted and appears to have a US IP address.
I need to find a VPN Service Provider that supports the RV180W and how to configure it.
I don't want to configure every PC and device, I just want them to use the VPN conneciton at the router. Is this not what a VPN router does?

VPN between cisco WRVS4400N and EdgeMarc
Hi Experts
Please help me.
Is it possible to create VPN between cisco WRVS4400N and EdgeMarc appliance.
Regards,
EjazHi Ejaz
I don't expect any cisco folks that answer this community to be expert on EdgeMarc, but i may be wrong..
We employ a open standard IPSec implementation.
Here is the open source document that relates to the RV220W.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/csbr/rv220w/open_source/OSD_RV220W_78-19892-02.pdf
The question could have been, have you asked EsgeMarc if they wiork with open standard based IPSec implemations on our routers.
I would prefer you look at the RV220W if possible, which is a relatively young product.
I am guessing since you can source a product from Disti, try one and see if it works.
The beauty of buying from a Cisco Disti Partner, is they they have a returns policy. Check out that policy, if you wish and keep the packaging and try out your application.

Hi there, i got an issue with vpn and cisco rv100w, router is configured well and computers and iphone can connect with PPTP. Problem became when we map NAS drive from computer or we move data (1-4 Mb). Seems connection go down, speed is so slowly and drop the connection.
Is it from router? or from Internet provider?
More data, If I connect to http of router/NAS .. all go fine, only when we need data from NAS (map drive by windows) copy, open files, ..., connection is so slowly and drop connection.
I saw in the logs of the router

ion successfully installed. now unable to get on vpn using cisco, error 51 constantly appears. should have stayed on snow leopard!
Try opening a terminal window (Applications >> Utilities). At the prompt, enter:
>sudo SystemStarter restart CiscoVPN
This will ask you for the admin password and it will restart the Cisco client service. That should fix it. This seems to be a known issue that will eventually be solved with some updates.
