VPN no longer accessible after OSX Server 4 upgrade

I was using mavericks server on a mac mini and I had the vpn working perfectly for l2tp. I recently upgraded to Yosemite server and now I can no longer connect to my vpn.  Testing internally I can see that the port 1701 is not open on the mac mini.  Any one else have a similar experience when upgrading?  Any idea how to open the port?  The default osx firewall is off, so that is not interfering, but I can't figure out why the port is not open.  Below is the results of a port scan I ran on the server from within my internal network. My setup hasn't changed since before it was upgraded, all the configuration is the exact same.
Port Scan has started…
Port Scanning host: 10.1.1.225
  Open TCP Port: 22     ssh
  Open TCP Port: 53     domain
  Open TCP Port: 80     http
  Open TCP Port: 88     kerberos

  Open TCP Port: 636    ldaps
  Open TCP Port: 749    kerberos-adm

Port Scan has completed…

Hotplugging is off. Both old and new xorg.conf are at http://pastebin.com/m23c8ea46
Not sure which fdi files to look for, but I've never made any changes to them.

  • VPN no longer working after moving DHCP server to router

I am preparing my SBS 2008 environment for migration to Server 2012 R2 Essentials.  I moved the DHCP server to the router (a Netgear R7000 with standard firmware).  I am able to access RWW and CompanyWeb via the router from external locations.
With the VPN, however, I can only connect but cannot access any network resource (including file shares).  The VPN is supported by the SBS server with RRAS.  I didn't change any of the configuration because I didn't think any of it needed to be changed.  The
router just needs to get it's reservations from a different DHCP server, right?  Anyway, would appreciate if someone can shed some light on what's going on here.

    Hello JeHarry,
I would recommend you to follow the TechNet to migrate SBS 2008 to 2012 R2 Essentials. Don't skip any part.

  • OSX Server Upgrade locked

I was upgrading my OSX Server to Mavericks,
so went from 10.7.5 to 10.9 OK
    10.9 to 10.9.2 OK
Then needed to upgrade the server software to latest version.
    Downloaded and installed - OK.
The clicked on the server icon to start the migration/upgrade.
This started 6 hours ago and now is stuck at 75% on the progress bar with 'upgrading services'.
We have about 20 email users on the systems and am reluctant to force a restart.
Rest of the machine is responsive.
What should I do, leave it for longer, restart, go back to my backup (CarbonCloneCopier).
    Any suggestions most welcome.
    Thanks
    Carl

After leaving over night, the server reported that it had completed the update will some errors (phew).
After clicking OK, server came back up. External emails OK.
Only issue with it is related around our certificates and the remote mail system.
So moral of the story is 'be patient' & have plenty of backups - it took over 6 hours to process our emails.
Right, back to sorting out remote mail

  • VPN Stopped working (consitently) after 2.2 Upgrade

After upgrading to the 2.2 firmware, I started to experience a lot of trouble getting my VPN connection to work. It is attempting to connect to my PPTP server, and worked fine before. I tried changing from a host name to an IP address, and that didn't help. I've also done some restarts, but nothing seems to work. On my PPTP server, I can see an incoming connection, but the iPhone just sits there in the "Connecting ..." state. Eventually it times out and says "Network Not Available". Every once in awhile, it does connect, but it's rare.
Has anybody else experienced this? Any suggestions other than update the firmware in my firewall (which isn't really an option, or necessary I'd say).
    Thanks.
    Greg

Steven, yes, that is the case. I am not using an RSA Secure ID. All of the other settings you listed are what I'm using.
As an additional note, I got the Network Utility (by Codepacity) program from the app store. It allows you to (among other things) ping sites. When I used that to ping my PPTP server, I saw that the ping attempts were failing. I kept running it until the pings started to succeed and was then able to get my VPN connection working; it was a long time before the pings started working. It may be that AT&T's network was having issues, and it was just coincidental that the problems started after my firmware upgrade. That is just speculation though.

  • Client proxies no longer work after R/3 upgrade to ECC5.0

    Hi,
After the above upgrade where WAS of the R/3 systems went from 620 to 640 client side proxies no longer work.
To be able to use client proxies in 620 we had to use a plugin. But in 640 this should be native functionality, so no more plugin for this.
The error seems to lie in the connection from R/3 to XI. If I test the RFC connection that is defined in SXMB_ADM on R/3 I get the following error:
    HTTPIO_PLG_ICM_CONNECT_FAILED-Fehlermeldung beim S
    Message no. SR000
The IFR address is correctly defined.
The SPROX_CHECK_HTTP_COMMUNICATION test in sproxy-connection tests gives the following detailed info:
    When calling the method
    CL_HTTP_SERVER=>GET_EXTENSION_INFO
    the exception
    NO_HTTP_PING_SERVICE_FOUND
    was triggered.
Does anyobe know how his can be solved?
    Thanks
    Tom

    HI,
I think some problem with http destinations
Is your R3 system is configured as a Application system ?
Go to SXMB_ADM->Integration Engine Configuration->Check role of business system etc. and corresponding Integrtaion server

  • VPN no longer responds after a restart

    Hi,
I have several iPhones and Macs allowed to connect to the VPN server and everything works wonderfully - that is until I restart either or both the server and/or the Time Capsule it is managing. The clients receive a message that the L2TP server is not responding when attempting to reconnect. The only solution I have found involves toggling VPN services Off/On after which all is well again. Am I alone with this anomaly?
    My routing setup is this:
ADSL Modem > Time Capsule (Dual Band) > Mac Mini Server
Time Capsule (DHCP router) allocates a fixed LAN IP address to the server, all three devices are connected to each other by Ethernet.

It appears that ML no longer supports 32bit applications at all.
    Therefore, you have 2 options:
    1) Use the built in VPN client, you will need your IT's help for this as it requires the group name and password of your VPN server.   You can configure it by going to System Preferences -> Network and 'adding' an VPN (Cisco IPSec) interface.   I haven't had much luck with it, it works sometimes and sometimes it fails, but other people swear by it.
    2) Move over to the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client, which does support 64bit.  This will also require your IT department as they need to configure the SSL/AnyConnect VPN on the VPN device itself.   I went to this method yesterday and it's worked out great so far.

  • Can't establish VPN on windows client to OSX server

    Hi everyone,
I'm stuck for a while now with a very annoying problem.
I can't establish a VPN connection on a windows client to a OSX Server. It worked fine while we had OSX server 10.6.
We recently updated to 10.8 and got this problem.
I know some of u are now thinking, the solution is: Just don't use windows... But the director of the company i am doing this for
doesn't want to switch to mac.
Also, this problem maybe be related to windows but i hope someone here can help me.
    Things i've done:
    I've tried PPTP ( didn't work either )
    I've tried different users
I've tried adding a rule te regedit in windows ( according to a windows vista kb file for VPN trough NAT devices )
    I've tried different authentication rules
In VPN log is Server admin everything goes well until:
    pppd[87435]: fatal signal 6
vpnd[104]: --> Client with address 192.168.0.24 has hungup
after this it goes further with some successes.
I hope someone here knows the solution!
    Thanks in advance,
    Remy

  • Time capsule hanging up after OSX Lion upgrade

    Hello
After my recent upgrade to OSX Lion, my MacBookPro is hanging up when trying to connect and update my Time Capsule update...
After 8 hours of unsucessful trials for a 8 Go back up, I have given up.
Something to be advised in order to get back on the same easy/seamless Time Capsule updates I enjoyed previously ?

I am using a 2010 iMac and tried a completely new 250+Gb Time Machine copy to a WD Passport USB 2.0 500Gb external HD. It's taking like more than 2 days. Never took that long before. Not a web or wi-fi issue. Before Mountain Lion, should have taken 3-4 hours max. I tested the external hard drive on a another Mac with a large file transfer and there were no problems.  I also turned off all the spotlight choices. The issue has something with Mountain Lion.
Has anyone heard from Apple acknowledging the issue and that they are working to resolve the problem?

  • Isight no longer works after snow leopard upgrade

my isight no longer is available directly after snow leopard upgrade on my macbook black. Anyone else with the same problem? The isight does not show up in 'about this mac' under USB and I tried resetting SMC and PRAM.

    Hi,
In Leopard there was an App called iSight Update app that was in Hard Drive/System/Library/Core Services
This does not seem to be there in Snow Leopard.
An issue with some computers with the camera was that in System Preferences > Displays the Colours needed to be set to Millions.
Also check the Hard Drive/System/Library/Extensions folder and see that you have the Apple_iSight.kext (this is likely to handle the Internal iSights as well).
    One last thing.
Some Web sites can make use of the camera using Flash.
If that tab is still open the Browser may have use of the camera.
It sounds like you have done computer restarts and this will not be the case unless the browser is set to go back to that page.

  • HP OMEN Control Software No Longer Works After Windows 10 Upgrade

HP OMEN Control no longer works after the recent Windows 10 update. Profile switching, keyboard LED colors, zones, fn key options, etc. no longer respond at all. I've found references to this issue during Windows 10 beta testing. Is there a temporary workaround? Will there be a driver update to remedy this problem? Thanks.

I just purchased a new 2015 refurbished PC.  It worked great with Windows 8.1.   Upon installing Windows 10, The Omen control did not work as well as the fan.  Really - hardware failure.  Give us a break.  So, I went back to Windows 8.1. Also this year, I purchased an Envy X2.  This PC included a bluetooth keyboard that kept detatching.  Again - REALLY, the keyboard doesn't work.  That's a pretty important part of the PC.  I searched the forum for answers and all I found was the same old line that HP was working on it.  I found meesages over a year old that had this same  problem. So, back it went to Best Buy.  I used to really like HP computers, but now, I can't say that anymore. So, do I trust HP to fix this in a timely manner, NO.  Why - because they had to know about this issue alrady for quite a while.  And, they did not fix it.  I really hope they prove me wrong.!! I will give them 1 more week to fix it.  After that, the PC will be returned.  And HP PCs will be off my scratched off my list, except maybe the HP Spectre X360.  To my amazement, I am even considering a MacBook Pro.  Funny thing - the Spectre X360 is supposed to be a great laptop,  But, Microsoft was heavily involved in the design process.  That is certainly not an HP confidence buider. HP - THIS IS YOUR TIME TO "STEP UP TO THE PLATE" and fix this mess.  TImes like these are opportuniies to win over customers or loose customers to the competiion.  I really want to keep this PC.  It is by your response to this problem that will determine the outcome.

  • No longer seeing Publish to private server after OSX/iCal upgrade

    Hi,
After Upgrading to OSX Lion and updating Ical, I have come across a problem.
Excuse me if I do not get all the options and menu options correct, I'm using a dutch version.
I have been using Ical to publish the calendar of our business to our website for some time now, I publish it to an ftp server where a php script presents the calendar to the visitors. After the upgrade I no longer see the "publish to private server" option under publish. I now only see "share with everyone" and "share with invitees". It has since not been synchronizing. I hope someone knows a solution or can give me directions as to what I'm obviously not seeing.
    Thanks.
    Versions
    iCal : 5.0 (1535)
    OSX: 10.7.1

Calendars listed under your MobileMe login name (which reside on the MobileMe server) cannot be published to a web page. This facility is still available as before for calendars listed under 'On My Mac'.
MobileMe calendars can be shared privately to other MobileMe members (read-only or read-and-write); or publicly (read-only) to anyone with a CalDAV client - this includes iCal and Google Calendar (free subscription required for the latter).
Please see this page for more details:

  • VPN no longer working after upgrade to Mountain Lion

After upgrading to Snow Leopard, the Cisco VPN client stopped working.   This was due to the fact it ran in 64-bit, but SL allowed you to switch to 32bit which then the app still worked.
You also had the choice of using the MacOS 'VPN' program, but it always disconnected quite often for me.
After the upgrade, the Cisco VPN client no longer works at all, I assume again due to the fact 32bit is no longer around, however the Mac VPN client no longer works either.  It will connect, however no traffic goes over the VPN (it gets blackholed) rendering it useless.
I have this behavior on multiple Macs, so I'm not sure if this is a known issue, or if the Mac VPN client no longer plays nice with the Cisco ASA firewalls?

It appears that ML no longer supports 32bit applications at all.
    Therefore, you have 2 options:
    1) Use the built in VPN client, you will need your IT's help for this as it requires the group name and password of your VPN server.   You can configure it by going to System Preferences -> Network and 'adding' an VPN (Cisco IPSec) interface.   I haven't had much luck with it, it works sometimes and sometimes it fails, but other people swear by it.

  • VPN no longer working after iOS 8.0.2 upgrade

Hello, after the upgrade to iOS 8.0.2 we have some problems with VPN.
The connection runs always stable and we don't change anything on our infrastructure.
But since the upgrade the IPads/Phones always show the notification "could not connect the server"or else.
This could not be true. The server is available from other clients (not ios). We test it with Wlan and 3G like always before.
I heard that we should delete the VPN profile and create it new on the ipad but it don't solve the problem.
We use IPSEK with IKEv1 and a PSK.
Are there any changes on the ios VPN client??!
I hope you can help me.
    THX

Yes, same problem here. Tested on both 8.0 and 8.0.2. VPN will connect but will not pass traffic from the idevice into the network. I am able to ping the device from inside of my network to its VPN IP address. However, I am not able to get to any internal resources from the device. I have done some of the troubleshooting that is posted above with no success. I have rebooted the device, reset network settings, and I have reset the entire device. I'm testing on an iPhone 5 and an iPad2. I also have an iPhone 4s here that is still on IOS 7 that has a working VPN and can connect to all internal resources as normal. I contacted Apple support yesterday and after speaking with 2-3 people, all of whom acted like this was the first VPN issue they had ever heard about, I was told that a "Senior Support Agent" would contact me back. Right now I have 5 users affected by this issue. Those 5 people will have new Android devices before the End of the day. I have sent an email to the other 60+ IOS users instructing them NOT to update their device until the VPN issue is resolved. I will post any findings here including the phone number and extension of the Apple Support Personnel that I spoke with yesterday if I do not get contacted in a timely fashion. I can understand that a mistake has been made, but this issue is wide-spread and needs to be addressed.

I wasn't getting this far (/tftpboot line) until I turned on the firewall to allow port 69 traffic but it seems that the service hangs when the client machine is supposed recevie the payload of the diskimage.
I don't know how a perfect netboot service goes to $h*t after a clean install with no configuration changed. I've verfied that nothing with our dhcp service nor dns has been changed and also verified that the server name has been added to the ip_helper.
    Any help is greatly apperciated.

My experiences with netboot on snow leopard server and a few other observations: Point 1 - Never have wireless on whether it be client or server when trying to netboot client. Point 2 - Must use standard mtu setting -1500- on server under prefs. ethernet advanced, doesn't seem to matter on client -I use 7936 for 600TL Readynas on clients only-. Point 3 - It seems that if you ever use wireless on the server it messes it up for good -Took about 8 installs to learn this the hard way-. Point 4 - It seems when logging into workgroup manager with default popup of machine name.local and default user name messes server up if you have a domain name, example of how it should be is: machine name.domain name.com, org, etc. Then username would be diradmin, then password ***** so that settings will hold if you go in to change anything. Many days were spent by a friend and myself learning these few things pertaining to my machine and may help others with weird problems on snow leopard server. If anyone here knows why this is, please post, although my machine is working properly, I am curious. Thank You. By the way, I am using all the latest updates except itunes 10.
