I have a huge problem with my 27" iMac and VPN, since Mavericks.
I always used it and it worked perfectly for years. Since Mavs, when I am connected to VPN, I will get a little snitch message come up asking if any one of many apple processes (icloud helper, assistand just examples). No matter what I click, allow or deny, the machine instantly crashes and power recycles. It comes up with the white screen "your computer restarted because of a problem" and then boots up.
It is losing me a lot of data each time, and is very worrying to see the machine just die in an heartbeat like that.
Anyone know if this is the same issue you are speaking about on this thread? I need a fix, basically VPN is off limits to me now as i can't risk data loss and corruptions. It happens every time i get the LS message pop up. any advice greatly appreciated.

I am having the same issue listed above on my new Mac Mini i just bought, I also contacted Express VPN support and got the same instructions with exception of the command to run in the utilities terminal. I tried the steps listed, and both commands (posted here, and sent to me directly by Express VPN support), and still unable to connect on my Mac Mini running OS X 10.8.2, but I am able to connect on my iPad and my MacBook which is running Mac OS X 10.6.8. Usually Express VPN is spot on with their customer support, but this is taking longer to get resolved. Here is the steps sent to me
Try doing the following to see if the problem gets resolved:

(should still be the same for Lion) and then add the following DNS servers: 8.8.8.8 & 208.67.222.220. After adding the DNS servers, please do the following steps as well:
Note: If you're connecting to your ISP via a PPPoE connection, then set the DNS servers on the PPPoE connection itself and then restart your computer for the DNS settings to take effect.
1. Click on Applications
2. Click on Utilities
3. Click on Terminal
4. Type the following command (without the quotes): "sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder"
5. Press enter and then try reconnecting to the VPN.
If you're still unable to connect, please send us in the latest log files.

My cisco vpn no longer works with Lion

After installing Lion, my cisco vpn no longer works. If I force boot in 32 bit mode it works fine, so appears to be a cisco client issue. Does anyone know if CISCO is working on 64bit client compatible with Lion?

Existing Apple ID is not longer working with Face Time and Message on the iPhone after iOS 6

After the IOS 6 update on my iPhone the Apple ID is not longer working with Face Time and Message. Each time I try to log in I receive the message that the password or the user is not right. But they are, because on all other devices and all other parts of the iPhone (iCloud, AppStore, iTunes) they are working. Other Apple IDs are working fine.
What's wrong? Any idea?

It sounds like you restored from an old back-up. Did you back-up just before your software update? It will use your last one and if your last back-up was a ywear old then it will use that one.
In general, if you are getting these messages on your iPhones select logout (when you get that Apple Id request) and then log back in with your newer ID.

And what exactly? You have neitehr provided proper system info nor the exact error message nor told us anything about your documents. If you are referring to PSD files suddenly registering as damaged, you might wanna check the forum. This has been discussed quite a bit. and of course you might want to read some primer on the big Internet why people use versioning/ incremental saves and backups to avoid critical files being lost...

App download and up dates are not longer working

Since two days the up date and download of apps is not longer working on my iPad

SELECT from SQL (Sql Manager) gives f.ex. "2010-11-27 00:00:00
Similar SELECT from the old ACCDB, linked to a MDB (query in ACCDB) gives "27-11-2010"
Similar select in new ACCDB, linked to SQL (query in ACCDB) gives "2010-11-27 00:00:00"
In linked table in new ACCDB the date is "2010-11-27 00:00:00"
In linked table in old ACCDB the date is "27-11-2010"
In form in new ACCDB is date seen as "2011-11-27 00:00:00"
When I do a AddNew (by VBA-code) the field change into "16-02-2011" and error while trying to update (wrong date format, I guess)
The update in this case is done by f.ex. doing a "DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acPrevious", which gives error code 2105 "You can't go to the specified record."
Another way that worked before is to go to another record by using a value from a Find-Record-form and do a "DoCmd.FindRecord <newrecordname>". This gives error 3146 "ODBC--call failed. [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Conversion failed
when converting date and/or time from character string. (#241)". Other functions (filling in other values in the form, based on a chosen name f.ex. is working, - but the record is never written to the Table).
In form in old ACCDB the date is seen as "27-11-2010"
When I do a AddNew (by VBA-code) the field change into "16-02-2011" and update and everytrhing is fine
Another way (than the AddNew) the date is created/changed is by using VBA "[datefield] = Date". The datefield is set to f.ex. "16-02-2011" (where old value could be "2010-11-27 00:00:00"), - and the same problems as described above is present.
Only way to "escape" is to click the ESC-key, to cancel all changes of the record in focus.
I hope this clarify, and I am at your disposal for further investigations any time ;-) almost 24/7, sigh...

VPN no longer working after upgrade to Mountain Lion

After upgrading to Snow Leopard, the Cisco VPN client stopped working.   This was due to the fact it ran in 64-bit, but SL allowed you to switch to 32bit which then the app still worked.
You also had the choice of using the MacOS 'VPN' program, but it always disconnected quite often for me.
After the upgrade, the Cisco VPN client no longer works at all, I assume again due to the fact 32bit is no longer around, however the Mac VPN client no longer works either. It will connect, however no traffic goes over the VPN (it gets blackholed) rendering it useless.
I have this behavior on multiple Macs, so I'm not sure if this is a known issue, or if the Mac VPN client no longer plays nice with the Cisco ASA firewalls?

It appears that ML no longer supports 32bit applications at all.
Therefore, you have 2 options:
1) Use the built in VPN client, you will need your IT's help for this as it requires the group name and password of your VPN server.   You can configure it by going to System Preferences -> Network and 'adding' an VPN (Cisco IPSec) interface.   I haven't had much luck with it, it works sometimes and sometimes it fails, but other people swear by it.
2) Move over to the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client, which does support 64bit. This will also require your IT department as they need to configure the SSL/AnyConnect VPN on the VPN device itself.   I went to this method yesterday and it's worked out great so far.

Corporate VPN no longer works on WRT310N

I had a WRT54G router installed and my corporate VPN worked fine. I gave that one to a relative, replacing it with a WRT310N, which comes with "all" of the VPN settings enabled. I tried the corporate VPN, and it worked for about 10 minutes. Now, I cannot connect at all. My company did not change anything, co-workers can connect through their home networks. Other computers on my network have no issues getting out to the network. Any ideas as to what I should be looking for?

Login to the router's setup page and click on Security tab,uncheck "Filter Anonymous Internet Requests" and click on save settings...Click on subtab VPN Passthrough and check L2TP Passthrough if you have opened the ports on the router.

Mail search using e-mail addresses not longer works after 10.6 update?

I just updated to 10.6 from 10.5. I have also added all the software updates.
The search function no longer works for e-mail addresses. I used to right-click on an address, copy and paste in search. Now, when I do that, it lists like this : NAME <[email protected]> (sample info) instead of just the e-mail address. In this new form, the search function no longer functions. Is there a way to revert to the old way mail copies e-mail address?
I do not want to have to delet ethe name & out of each paste.

In 10.6, it seems someone at Apple decided that Copy Address should really mean Copy Name And Address And Add Angle Brackets Around The Address, because that's exactly what happens when you use Copy Address in Snow Leopard's Mail app. Instead of getting [email protected] on the clipboard, you get Sue Sample <[email protected]>.
Besides now having an incorrect name on the Copy Address contextual menu item (thought admittedly, the alternative is a bit lengthy), this behavior is incredibly irritating if you want only the email address on the clipboard. Thankfully, some engineer somewhere deep within Apple included a hidden preference to change this behavior -- and the fine folks at Mac Daddy World (the Ecamm Network blog site) dug deep and discovered this preference.
To revert to the 10.5-style behavior in Mail, first quit Mail then enter this command in Terminal:
defaults write com.apple.mail AddressesIncludeNameOnPasteboard -bool NO

Please fix your CAPS lock, SCREAMING at your fellow user's when asking for help is not a good idea.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

Flash player is not longer working, I remove it and put it back agains but still can not see video

I can not longer play you tube video keep asking me to update my flash player, I already instal the new version but it look like it is not running, every thing happend after been working w/o no problem

If so, I would use the Adobe Flash uninstaller then download the latest version from the Adobe site and reinstall.

VPN no longer working

Upgrading to Lion server has been a bit frustrating to say the least!
I had VPN working and with the upgrade it has stopped. I hope someone can help with my setup. It has worked before.
Here is my setup.
I have an internet router provided by my ISP. The firewall is turned off, but I have Ipsec passthrough enabled.
Apple Airport extreme in bridge-mode to which my server is connected by ethernet and other clients by wireless.
Server firewall is turned on with the vpn ports open via Server Admin app
vpn service activated.
user is setup for vpn service
This setup has worked before the upgrade.
With the firewall on or off, I get the same error message: vpn server did not respond. I am testing this from my iphone's 3G connection which has worked before, so it is not my carrier's problem.
Somehow I suspect my server has a firewall problem.
Another problem I have since the upgrade and which may be related to this issue is that I can no longer use airplay to stream music from my server to an airport express with the firewall enabled. When it is turned off, the server streams music without a hitch. I have opened all the ports for airplay to work, have ticked them, unticked them and reticked them, but to no avail.
This last problem has led me to think that the vpn issue is a firewall issue has the ports seem open, just as the airplay ports seem open, but are apparently not.
Can any one offer any help with this?

VPN no longer working after iOS 8.0.2 upgrade. Anyone having same issue?

Since I upgraded to iOS 8.0.2, the PPTP VPN configurations no longer connect. I deleted and re-created the settings, but this did not solve the problem. Is there a way of fixing this?

Yes, same problem here. Tested on both 8.0 and 8.0.2. VPN will connect but will not pass traffic from the idevice into the network. I am able to ping the device from inside of my network to its VPN IP address. However, I am not able to get to any internal resources from the device. I have done some of the troubleshooting that is posted above with no success. I have rebooted the device, reset network settings, and I have reset the entire device. I'm testing on an iPhone 5 and an iPad2. I also have an iPhone 4s here that is still on IOS 7 that has a working VPN and can connect to all internal resources as normal. I contacted Apple support yesterday and after speaking with 2-3 people, all of whom acted like this was the first VPN issue they had ever heard about, I was told that a "Senior Support Agent" would contact me back. Right now I have 5 users affected by this issue. Those 5 people will have new Android devices before the End of the day. I have sent an email to the other 60+ IOS users instructing them NOT to update their device until the VPN issue is resolved. I will post any findings here including the phone number and extension of the Apple Support Personnel that I spoke with yesterday if I do not get contacted in a timely fashion. I can understand that a mistake has been made, but this issue is wide-spread and needs to be addressed.

SRS5 VPN no longer works

Upgraded a working, VPN-connected DTU to the 4.2 RR firmware. We are attempting to connect to an existing (working!) SRSS 4.1 server. This combination is working on the LAN but not via VPN from a WAN connection. Watching the OSD, PH I seems to succeed and move on to PH II which seems like it might have succeeded but the DTU resets too quickly to tell for sure. The only thing we notice in the setting is the new (?) Session Timeout setting which apparently defaults to zero.
Any suggestions, RTFM's, etc would be greatly appreciated as we have quite a number of DTUs using the VPN connection that need to be upgraded.
Additional information:
Does not work: GUI4.2_77_2009.10.19.17.01 (downloaded today)
Works: GUI4.2_17_2009.06.24.11.48 (EA I believe)
Firmware update happened over DSL remote successfully without errors.

Yes, I see this too on one site: It works ok with the 4.2 EA2 firmware but fails without passing any data packets (according to the Cisco) instantly the VPN is set up.
To a different site however, the same firmware combination is ok.
