VPN on Dual Power PC G5

I have just uncovered a weird symptom which might be dual G5 related.
My internet and Mail work fine.
I connect my Cisco VPNClient Software (Version 4.6.04) and enter my password. The Software then tells me I am connected to the network at my company.
All internet connectivity ceases at this point. I can't connect to either my company network, or to anything else on the network. The e-mail both behind the firewall at my company, and my non-firewalled e-mail disconnects.
If I disconnect from my VPNClient Software everything begins working again. Other computers connected to my D-Link wireless router work normally, and allow the VPN to access my company network.
Any ideas? I am suspicious that some kind of a "too-fast" condition exists which causes the 2.3GHz Dual PC to freeze.
Dual 2.3 GHz Power PC G5   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   D-Link Router

They have addressed the dual PROCESSOR issue but....
Now there seems to be an issue with having more than one Network Card (NIC) installed on your unix system. This issue seems to be for all flavors
they support.
Besides the gentleman in this thread that found the airport card workaround
I can not get the CISCO vpn client to work, even the latest version 4.8.00.
I don't have an airport installed, yet.
I'm a work at home unix admin and relied on my second machine this PowerMac to aid in my everyday/night work. I'm stuck in the same
boat. I need this vpn to work as soon as possible and have no way of asking CISCO if or when they will address this issue.
Thx,

  • Power consumption with dual power supply

    Hi,
I need to know how dual power supply works, I mean, when you have two power supplies in a router if both of them are working at the same time, or if one of them is working while the other one only begin to work when the first one stops.
And if both of them are working at the same time, what is the power consumption, the same as if only one of them was working?
    Thanks

The implementation details can potentially differ per product category but usually the following is applicable:
The product provides configurable power redundancy modes and choosing a mode dictates whether load will be shared across supplies or whether a particular supply will be dedicated for redundancy.
If both (or more) supplies are working at the same time then both share the power load.
The actual power consumption depends on the power required to run the installed components and is the same whether you use power supplies in redundant or power sharing mode.

  • CiscoWorks how many switches in stack + dual Power supply usage

    Hi,
Please tell me that is it possible to see in CiscoWorks that device with dual power supplies is using both or just one. e.g 6500
Also I need to count the total number of physical switches in the company but I am only able to generate a inventory report that only shows logical devices, but it do not show if the switch is stack then how many physical switches are in stack.
Is it also possible to count the total number of physical devices in the company instead of just logical devices.
    I am using the
    LMS: 1.2.0
    RME: 4.3.0
    CS:    3.3.0
    CM:   5.2.1
    DFM: 3.2.0
    Thanks.

    Thanks for reply.
In the detailed device view I am able to see that switch has 2 power supply, but but unable to see that its using either only one or both. But I understand your point that if its not visible here then its not possible.
Explainantion of my second query: My company want to know that how many physical switches has been installed. We manage over 2500 logical switches in the company and management want to have a report showing that how many total physical switches exist.
Is it possible to generate a report which shows that each logical switch contains how many physical swithes and/ or total number of physical switches in the company.
e.g MLS001 (logical switch) contains sw1 (physical switch), sw2 (physical switch), sw3 (physical switch), sw4 (physical switch)
MLS002 (logical switch) contains sw1 (physical switch), sw2 (physical switch)
CiscoWorks generate a report shows that 6 physical switches exist.
    Please reply ASAP. Thanks

  • Does "dual power supply" mean "redundant power supply"?

Does Cisco7301 "dual power supply" mean "redundant power supply"?
If unplug one power socket, 7301 continues operating?

On a 7301, I believe it does act as a redundant power supply, and this is often true for many Cisco devices with dual power supplies, but there can be exceptions.  For example, on the 6500 chassis, you might use dual power supplies in combined mode, i.e. failure of a power supply would leave the chassis short of necessary power.  The 3560X/3750X might also have insufficient power if a power supply fails when running on two (this issue may arise when using PoE).

  • Cisco 3850 Dual Power Supply - One No Response

    Hey Guys,
I am getting multiple switches on my network showing "power supply failure" from Solarwinds.
I am running Cisco 3850s running v 03.02.03.SE cat3k_caa-universalk9 iOS, and they all have dual power supplies. When i do the sh env power, I get this output.
    SWITCH1#sh env power
SW  PID                             Serial#     Status               Sys Pwr  PoE Pwr  Watts
    1A  PWR-C1-715WAC       xxxx           OK                 Good     Good           715
1B  PWR-C1-715WAC       xxxx         No Response   Good     Good           715
    SWITCH2#sh env power
SW  PID                              Serial#     Status           Sys Pwr    PoE Pwr     Watts
    1A  PWR-C1-715WAC       xxxx           OK                   Good     Good          715
1B  PWR-C1-715WAC       xxxx         No Response     Good     Good          715
When I physically go down to look at the switches, they have green lights, so they are receiving power, but I keep getting the PSU failure alerts.
Do you think it is an iOS issue, and should I upgrade? Or has anyone else seen this?

    Hi,
I think below Bug could match with your issue.
"power supply B is not responding" reoccurring on Catalyst switches
    https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCun41735/?reffering_site=dumpcr
And we can see workaround of this issue is HW workaround.
    Thanks,

  • Dual power

    Hi,
I would like to confirm the dual power of 7301. There is only one power supply active even I connect two power cables to the router.
If there is no electricity to active power supply, the second power supply will take care the role to supply electricity.
    Is it correct?
    rgds

The chassis supports both single and dual power supplies (AC or DC). "Power supply" slot is a "port adapter" slot. 7301 power supplies are not modular (come as fixed configurations upon purchase as single or dual).

  • 3750X, Dual Power Supply, 1 in 110V and 1 in 208V

I have a Cisco WS-C3750X-12S swith with dual C3KX-PWR-350WAC power supplies that are both currently connected to 110V PDUs.  We are being forced to migrate over to new 208V PDUs and I would like to know if it is possible to run this switch with one power supply connected to a 110V feed and the other power supply connected to a 208V feed?
I assume this will work as both power supplies are auto sensing and are rated for any input between 110V - 240V.  Would there be any potential issues with this configuration?
This will only be needed for one week while the second 208V PDU is connected.  I will need to migrate one PS to 208V, wait for the second PDU to be installed in my rack, and then move the second PS to 208V.
I was hoping to be able to migrate without having to reboot the switch as this would require a maintenance window and downtime for an important connection.
    Thank you.

    Hello,
That should be fine, I've seen customers actually run this in production for quite some time.  You should be able to migrate this without downtime as long as you are not running a large number of POE devices that are reliant on XX amount of power at one time.

  • G5 1.8ghz dual - Power, but no start

    G'day,
I've just stuck a new CPU into my dual 1.8GHz G5, and it doesn't start up...
When you press the power button, the light comes on, fans start, DVD will spin if there's a disk in there, hdd seems to spin, but - no chime, no video to my 17" ASD.
The power light does not flash - it's just solid.
There is no response to keyboard controls - wont eject, wont control volume/beep.
Have to press the power button (makes the light more intense) for 5+ seconds to power off.
The ASD appears to be connected ok, as it can turn the computer on/off, but there is entirely no picture.
I have no 100% gaurentee the CPU works... came from a guy off the net. He's sent me 2, plus 1 heat sink, so I may just have to try the other and hope it works...
But first - anything I should try?
    cheers & thanks
    cosmic

    Success, hopefully!
I tried re-installing the CPU, and paid a lot more attention to how it was seated.
I think what I'd done, was to not have it properly connected. Unlike the original CPU, it needed an extra "push" to get it in all the way. I had a flash light illuminating the connection, and was peering in through the swiss cheese case to see what was happening.
Powered up, and it booted a-ok. Let it go to the Finder, and opened Temp Monitor. The new CPU was reading 1-1.5°C hotter than the original CPU - that is - about 27 and 28°C.
Currently running a thermal calibration using the Apple Service Diagnostic CD. It gave an intial warning that the (new) CPU Slot Number Verify failed... hoping that's just cos it was a new CPU?
From highs to lows to highs. (Mood that is)
    Thanks for your support.

  • Scxi 1520 dual power supply

    Greetings!
I am using an SCXI 1520 right now. I wish to get a dual voltage power supply out of it (+/-) 5V. I know that what I get is just 0-10V. But is there a trick to do this. Thank you very much!
    -Ham

    Hello,
There is no way to get +/- 10 V from the SCXI-1520. I recommend either using an external power supply, or the unused AO channels on your DAQ device to provide these voltages. To make use of the unused AO channels, you can either use a SCXI-1180 Feedthrough panel with a SCXI-1302 terminal block, or a 50-pin ribbon cable connected to a CB-50. Both of these simply give you access to the unused pins on the DAQ device (AI 1..N, AO 0..N, CTR, etc...).
For more information on the SCXI-1180, see:
    http://sine.ni.com/apps/we/nioc.vp?cid=1645〈=US
    For the CB-50, see:

  • Site-to-site VPN with dual ASA 5510s

    Hi,
I have recently been asked to configure a VPN between two sites using an ASA 5510 at each end. I used the VPN Site-to-site wizard in ASDM on both devices and followed the instructions for the wizard to the letter. However I don't seem able to get any kind of VPN up and running. • Can my apple tv 3rd generation use dual power 110v/220v without a converter?

Can I use a 220 v power source for my apple tv without using a converter, it is a 3rd generation. I have moved to China and brought it with me from the US?

HDMI is the only supported method. There will be no guarantee with any converter. If it does work you will be unable to play protected content (ie iTunes, Netflix)

  • Does Dual Power supplies means Load sharing also..

    Hi
Wanted to understand how power supply redundancy works in SUN servers .
Is it really 1 to 1 Failback redundancy ( One active and other online but not in use)
    or
it is sharing some load ( if yes is it 50% each)
This will help us in making our data center's power requirements.
    Pls respond
    Thanks
    AN

There is no single correct answer.
You will need to read the documentation for each system, model by model.
The manuals will describe how the PSU's function
    (independant-with-failover versus N+1 versus 2N+1, etc)
For example, in an E6900 you configure power supplies per physical domain and not per chassis.
Start with the Sun System Handbook.
    http://sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_pub
Find the system you are curious about.
Select the "Related Documentation" link on its resource page.
    Read whatever is available.

  • How to power up my g5....?

so ive had my g5 for some time now and i still run on 10.3.9 and have all stock ram etc...
RAM i have 256g and i have a dual power pc..you have no idea how annoying it is for my computer to catch up with me.
i really need to power up my computer..i am a graphic artist/designer and need the power..how can i do this?
my available memory is about 1gb left and my RAM is at 256gb.
PLEASE HELP ME WITH ADVICE ON HOW TO MAKE MY G5 RUN LIKE IT SHOULD..WITH POWER.AND ALL NECCESARY UPDATES.
    thanks
    brown town

Which model would this be? 1.8DP or ?
The G5s really really need 1.25-1.5GB RAM.
I would upgrade to at least 2GB, minimum.
    So avail yourself of
    http://www.crucial.com/mac/
and look up your model, recommendations etc.
    OWC - www.macsales.com
    Ramjet - www.ramjet.com
as well as others that would help.
Then pick up a couple 500GB drives. WD, Maxtor, Hitachi (but skip on Seagate).
A copy of Tiger 10.4.6 on DVD. Even with 10.5 "Leopard" due out some time, I think any work system should hold back, maybe test it once it gets to 10.5.1+ (10.4.9 is probably perfect for some so you know it is "final and complete" and as good as it is going to get - like your current 10.3.9 was.
I am surprised you lived and survived on just 2 x 128MB RAM.
    Ouch! ;-(
