VPN OS 10.2.1 non BES

Hello, I have a Q10 with BB OS 10.2.1.2102. I do not have BES, but is connected to the server (Windows SBS 2011) with Activesync. I can not understand what is the correct configuration of the Q10 for the VPN connection. I state that I have no other devices connected with VPN (PC, IOS, etc..) And none of them have had problems connecting to the VPN. (The parameters for IOS using the shell are: VPN Type: PPTP Proxy: No, No Coding).
Thanks Simone

Yep, known issue (at least by some of us users) and I am not completely sure if BlackBerry knows.
*edit* oops, I see now you're posting in regard to BES activated devices. It works in the same manner for non-BES devices as well.

  • How To OTA Sync BB10 and non-BES Outlook (Details)

Step By Step Instructions for configuring wireless synchronization of Calendar
and Contacts between a PC/Outlook platform and a BlackBerry 10 mobile device
Note1: This process, similar to others posted on the Internet, is intended to achieve "passive" (e.g., no special user action required) synchronization of Contacts and Calendar. However, this process is for users who wish a "cleaner" interface in their Outlook client...other solutions result in, for example, multiple Calendar containers within the interface...this solution results in just those which are synchronizing via Outlook.com.
Note2: This process is intended for users who have OTHER THAN Hotmail or Outlook.com already as their PRIMARY account within their Outlook client.
Note3: This process is intended for advanced Outlook users; very little specific instructions about how to do things inside of the Outlook client will be provided (but questions are welcome, and will be handled within this thread...just not in the opening posts). This has been tested on Outlook 2007 and 2010 -- it is reported that the Hotmail Connector is not required for Outlook 2013.
Note 4:  More information, caveats, etc. can be found below, in Message 2 of this thread.
    PREPARATION
    1.  Back up your Microsoft Outlook data
e.g., in Outlook, make a separate copy of your calendar and contact items to a separate .PST file
    2. Take careful note, inside of your Outlook client, of ALL configurations, email accounts, attached PSTs, etc., including any passwords, server names, ports, security, etc. necessary to use those items
You will be creating a brand new empty Outlook profile...and will need to replicate everything manually
Printing Screen Shots is a convenient way to do this
    3. Take note of your preferred Outlook layout (e.g., Reading Pane on or off, left or bottom, etc.)
    4. Export any Outlook Rules you may use
    5. Create an Outlook.com account (if you do not have an existing account, including Hotmail)
    EXECUTION
    1.  Close Microsoft Outlook, then download and install the Microsoft Office Outlook Hotmail Connector via the following link:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/microsoft-office-outlook-hotmail-connector-overview-HA0102...
    2.  Create a new MS Outlook profile
Depending on your configuration, you may be able to just launch Microsoft Outlook and select "Advanced"
You may need to use the separate Outlook Profiles wizard
    3. Launch Outlook, selecting the newly created empty profile
    4. When prompted to add your first account, use the advanced settings and select the Hotmail Connector
Enter your Hotmail/Outlook.com account credentials when prompted.
    5. Copy/Import your Calendar and Contact data into their default containers in this Outlook Profile
If, during "Preparation" above, you created a backup PST file, then open that and use it as your data source -- be sure you use COPY and not MOVE (so as to preserve your backup data) -- close the PST once you are done with this step
If you used another means to backup your Calendar/Contact data (e.g, CSV), then follow the appropriate instructions to import into the default containers of this Outlook profile
You may get errors if the contents of any records are not compatible (e.g., too many characters). These can be reconciled later.
    6.  At this point, Microsoft Outlook should connect to the Hotmail/Outlook.com servers to sync the data. It may take some time for this process to complete depending on the number of entries being transferred.
You can view the progress in the bottom right status area of Microsoft Outlook.
You may have to manually Send/Receive to get everything to fully populate to the servers.
Once synchronization is complete within Microsoft Outlook on your computer, you can confirm that everything transfered correctly via the Hotmail/Outlook.com web interfaces. Note: some recurring events may not transfer correctly.
    7.  Now add your Hotmail/Outlook.com account to your BlackBerry 10 device. Your info will then sync to your device.
Note: this process may take some time to complete depending on the number of entries.
By default, it will configure with PUSH turned ON, which may result in delayed/never synchronization of some items. Turning PUSH off and allowing it to PULL at your chosen interval usually allows synchronization to properly complete.
    8.  Once everything has populated to your BlackBerry 10 device, you can confirm the setup by creating a test contact or calendar item in Microsoft Outlook and wait for that to sync to your BlackBerry 10 device, and vice versa.
    9. Now you can configure into the new Outlook profile all of the additional configurations, email accounts, attached PSTs, and rules that you previously used.
    10. Finally, denote your desired email account as the Default within this Outlook profiles "Account Settings".
Note that this is "Account Settings"...not "Data File Settings"
For Outlook to properly work with your preferred email account, you must denote it as default -- but that setting will not affect Calendar and Contact synchronization through Hotmail/Outlook.com.
Congratulations! You now have the ability to keep your Microsoft Outlook and your BlackBerry 10 device synchronized for both calendar and contacts, with a "cleaner" Outlook interface (fewer "containers" displayed), and you need no longer tether to your PC in order to do so.
    Good Luck!

Additional information, caveats, warnings, etc. related to wireless synchronization
of Calendar and Contacts between a PC/Outlook platform and a BlackBerry 10 mobile device
If you just got a new BlackBerry 10 device, you may find that you can no longer directly sync your contacts and calendar between Microsoft Outlook on your computer and your device via the BlackBerry Desktop Software or BlackBerry Link -- currently, that function is not available (though the word is that it will return by the end of the year).  Until another sync option is available, what do you do?  One option is to use an email service that offers these abilities, and thus far, the best seems to be Hotmail/Outlook.com (Gmail and Yahoo each claim the same ability, but have limitations). The above step-by-step instructions will also give you this ability, but the following additional information may be important to your specific situation.
    1. This process is NOT INTENDED to fully replace the direct sync (USB or BT) between a BB and a desktop app (e.g., Outlook).
If you have need of that for security or other reasons, then this will not replace it (but BlackBerry has stated publicly that they intend to return that method to market by the end of this year).
But this process may be just fine for a subset of users who previously used direct USB/BT sync.
    2. This process only only works for Calendars and Contacts. Other than a full BES implementation, there is currently no way (that we are aware of) to sync tasks and memos for personal use.
    3. After you have completed the above configuration, you should adjust your Send/Receive settings in Microsoft Outlook to ensure that everything syncs on a regular basis (e.g. every 5 minutes).
    4. You may also want to go back and reconcile any errors to fix things that did not transfer between your original Microsoft Outlook Calendar/Contacts and your new Hotmail/Outlook.com Calendar/Contacts.
    5. Even if you do not use Hotmail/Outlook.com for any email, do not be tempted to prevent email synchronization of that account within Outlook...if you do, your Calendar and Contact items will not synchronize either.
    6. Be very careful, during the preparation stage, to gather all of the details you will need so as to properly configure the new Outlook profile.
If anything goes wrong, you should be able to simply delete the new Outlook profile and fall back to the prior one so as to start over.
    7. This process is intended to result in not only a "passive" handling of calendar and contact synchronization (much like other solutions), but also a "cleaner" interface within the Outlook client.
Other methods available create additional containers in Outlook for both Calendar and Contacts. Even though those can be denoted as "default" (and, thereby, process items "passively"), you will still be presented with multiple containers within the Outlook interface.
This method eliminates those additional containers, showing you only your primary set of containers, yet still processing items correctly within them.
    8. Note carefully the success/failure of synchronization. If you leave, on your BB10, Hotmail/Outlook.com configured for PUSH and things are not synchronizing correctly or timely, then consider turning PUSH off and setting it to poll at a frequency you are comfortable with.
Tests have revealed this to be a problem with PUSH, but changing to PULL seems to correct it.
    9. In the Outlook client, when you invite someone to a meeting, you may want to override the account from which the invitation is sent.
By default, Outlook will use your Hotmail/Outlook.com account for new meetings you create and invite others to, reagardless of the email account you have assigned as "default" in the Outlook profile.
But, before you send the invitation, you can override that default, and send the invitation "from" a different email account that you have integrated into Outlook
The item will still populate to your calendar, and synchronize through Hotmail/Outlook.com to your BB10 device

  • Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility client software has VERY slow file transfers from system on the VPN, about 1/10 of non-VPN.

I'm running Win7, and with the Software only AnyConnect Security Mobility client Version 3.1.04072
I've found that copying a file from a system on the VPN runs at about 1/10 the speed of getting a file from a system that is NOT on the VPN.

    first poster -
"Downloads from random internet sites are 5-10 times faster than anything from a server on the VPN."
Your corporate network may just have too little bandwidth, your taking a poor internet route between carriers (ISP's are often maxed out believe it or not), there is a speed an duplex problem or you have a bad MTU. test all of them. your pc's MTU should be 1300. MAX on all interfaces. use the setmtu.exe tool.
Jcohen - if you disable the IPS on the ASA does the slow transfer problem go away?

  • Any updates on email encryption support for non-BES users?

    Hi,
Given BlackBerry tends towards business users, when can we expect the nearly mandatory feature of encrypted email?? I know it is available with BES, but for the rest of the world who do not have BES, when can expect encryption?
S/MIME is essential and PGP is nice to have in my case.
Every other phone on the market can do this, so come on BlackBerry don't force me to sell my lovely Passport. I love it but if you are never going to do encryption it will have to go. I'm a business user and you are forcing me to Android or iOS just for this simple feature.
    Thanks

Your CIO is asking the wrong question. What about FireWire ports? What about AirDrop? However, if you need to go through the motions of placating him, search for "Removing USB Support Software" in this document:

  • Cleanly "Starting Over" with the Desktop Software (non-BES)

    Hi there,
With the advances in the RIM Desktop Software, there have been many posts about the upgrade process resulting in less than functional situations. The process I recommend is to cleanly start completely over, cleaning all remnants of the Desktop Software from the PC, and perhaps even clearing the content databases from the BlackBerry SmartPhone (on the assumption that the Desktop Organizer app has complete and correct data).
To do this, I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista/Win7, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything that you can. Additionally, if you are truly concerned about your data, then you should first copy (for Outlook, to a PST) your contacts, calendar, memos, and tasks...just to be sure, in case of something catastrophic.
There are some reports that a Windows user profile (type 'echo %userprofile%' in the command prompt) that contains spaces might cause the installer to fail. In order to solve this issue, log out of your Windows account and log back in using the local Administrator account (or any other account name without spaces, but with full admin rights) and install the desktop (for all users).
    1) Remove any/all BlackBerry Device Software package(s) from your PC
Add/remove programs, Uninstall, etc. depending on your Windows OS level
    2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM Desktop Software:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
Some have reported the manual search and removal of RIM, BB, and Puma registry keys to be helpful.
Do not attempt this if you are at all unsure -- editing your registry incorrectly can render your entire PC useless!
Others have reported the use of a registry cleansing tool to also be helpful
Still others have reported the use of your original PIM (e.g., Outlook, NOTES, etc.) installation CD, running the "repair" process, to be helpful in some situations
    3) Get a fresh download of the RIM Desktop Software:
    http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/
    4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your BlackBerry Device Software package from your carrier -- it must be the version that your BlackBerry is already running (otherwise, the Desktop Software will attempt to change the version that is running on your BlackBerry):
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
KB23393 How to check the model number and version of installed BlackBerry device software on a BlackBerry smartphone
    5) Install the Desktop Software to your PC -- do not allow it to start
    6) Install (also to your PC), the BlackBerry Device Software package -- do not allow it to start the Desktop Software
If the package came from a carrier other than that for which your BlackBerry was originally manufactured, then after this install step completes, you must delete, from your PC, at least one copy, and possibly two, of VENDOR.XML.
One will for sure be here (or something quite similar, depending on your Windows OS):
    c:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    The other might be here:
    c:\Users\<insert your user name>\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
    7) Start the Desktop Software and connect your BlackBerry to your PC (USB) when prompted.
    8) OPTIONAL -- if you truly want a clean start over AND you are 100% sure that the data in your PC Desktop Organizer (e.g., Outlook) is accurate, then, at this point, you can clear the BlackBerry of all Organizer data so that you can start over fresh, using your PC Organizer data as master:
KB10167 How to clear the user content databases from the BlackBerry smartphone
    9) Start the organizer configuration over:
KB03315 How to synchronize organizer data (calendar, task list, memo list, and contact list) using the BlackBerry Desktop Software
If you are using Outlook AND multiple profiles, be sure to click the "Configure" button, inside of the Configure screen for each organizer app...that is how you select the proper profile for EACH Organizer component you are configuring.
Hopefully that will get things going again.
Good luck and let us know!

I am having the same problem syncing aftre having downloaded the new Desktop Manager and have tried most things.  Seem ridiculous that this amount of time needs to be wasted just because BB releases a new version before it is ready.

  • Can I congfigure "bonjour" apps like iChat AV to work over a non-split VPN?

I have several mac users all connected into a single Cisco VPN 3000 concentrator using a non-split IPSec/UDP tunnel and we want to use iChat AV through bonjour instead of over the internet. If we can figue out how to do this, it should allow us to share printers too. Does anyone know how to set this up either on the mac clients or on the VPN concentrator?

    Hi Chuck,
Welcome to the Apple Discussion Pages
I think you will get a better answer on how to set up a VPN here http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=755
Once you have your VPN set up iChat's Bonjour Buddy list should display all the macs linked to the VPN.
The computers with Printers attached will need to turn on Printer Sharing in System Preferences > Sharing.
IP Printers will have to be added to the VPN. (ask in the other forum)
Each user will need to Add the printers to thier lists in System Preferences > Print and Fax

  • Access to DFS root via VPN not working - error 0x80070035 keeps popping up

    Dear all,
when trying to access the DFS root via VPN from a Windows 7 non-domain member computer I always receive an error stating "Windows cannot access \\eggs.local\dfs", Error Code: 0x80070035, The Network Path was not found.
I searched the internet as well as these forums in order to get to grips with this error message but didn't find anything to solve my problem.
I made sure, that NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled, that I have access to the VPN adapter's DNS as well as WINS servers, that DNS name resolution is working properly, DNS split tunneling is enabled, Windows Firewall is disabled, and so forth. Still no luck.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
Though you mentioned DNS is working properly, please check if DNS forwarder is set as set correctly.
And incase it is caused by authentication, please try to force Kerberos to use TCP - by default it using UDP and on a slow VPN connection, UDP packets may be dropped.

    Hi,
I'm running VPN Client 5.0.07.0440 on a Windows 7 Pro HP TouchSmart. The .pcf file is the same iI am using on many other machines om this same network.  When I double click the icon, the window opens up, but when I double click the connection entry, the dialog box says "connecting to security gateway at xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx for a few seconds and then says "Not connected."  I can't even get to the log-in screen I normally can. This is a new computer set-up. All updates are downloaded for windows.
I've uninstalled the client and re-insatlled it re-booting after every step. I've pinged the address and had no problems. Running Avast, Malwarebytes as on other machines. No other security software. My VPN is enabled in my Network Connections.

Hope this is posted to the right group.
Never had this problem after many machines. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

Since you're getting the message "may be configured with invalid group password", perhaps your pcf file got corrupted.
I'd recommend you compare the profile pcf file (stored in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Cisco Systems\VPN Client\Profiles") on the non-working machine with one from a working setup.
They can be examined in a text editor or with a diff tool (like the freeware ExamDiff). The encrypted group password hashes (string in the file preceded by "enc_GroupPwd=") should match.

  • IPSEC VPN Default Gateway

How do I configure 10.7 to either disable adding a default gateway for my VPN connecton or adjust the route metric so that my local gateway is preferred?  I'd like to only use the VPN for traffic to specific networks.

I agree to Andrew's explanation. You can't change the vpn client gw to ASA ip not just because you want to change it as you said above.
Logically, what you are saying is not even making sense. The traffic is initiated from your VPN adapter which is a non-routable address on the internet. Moreover, to go encrypted, it has to be encapsulated to your client's public ip address which will then reach the local ISP gw, then to ISP and then taking other hops it would reach your ASA. By asking for your ASA's IP address as the gw for vpn client, you are somewhat asking to have some IP address on the internet to be your local VPN machine's IP address. Hence, this makes no sense.
bdw, by your statement,"already assigned to another device" are you saying that the 192.168.0.1 is already assigned to some other vpn device? if that's so that it does not matter, because the gw address that you see on vpn client machine is specific to that machine only.
Hope the other side of the explanation makes sense to you and clarifies your doubt.

  • OS 10.2.1.1925 (SR 10.2.1.537) - Delete On Handheld only (fails if selecting multiple messages) (BES activated Devices)

Within the BlackBerry Hub /  Display and Actions, the "Delete On" option is only partially working.
For example: If we select 'prompt' as the 'delete on' action the following works:
Highlight a message, delete, and then the prompt appears ' Delete from Hub, or Delete from Hub and server'.  We can select 'Delete from Hub' and it leaves a copy of the message on the exchange server and in the users outlook.
If we select 'prompt' as the 'delete on' action the following fails:
Choose 'More', 'select more'  and pick one or more messages and delete, it fails to prompt and deletes the messages from the handheld and the server (and of course outlook too).
Is this a known issue? Its hard for users who get hundreds of messages and want to delete them from their blackberry's to clean them up, but want to keep them in outlook.

  • BB benefits without BES

Is there any way to get wireless sync for contacts, calendar, notes, etc., without BES? Any software that can push them from Outlook to BIS? I have configured my Outlook for IMAP, but IMAP doesn't allow non-mail folders.
The staff at the store says it cannot be done at all without BES. If this is true, what's the benefit of using BB in non-BES environment? You can get POP3 polling with any modern phone, and contacts and calendar can be sync'ed through a cable... Or, am I completely off here?
    Thanks!

    Not so fast bumblepie!
First, of your Outlook is connected to an Exchange server, you can use the Desktop Redirector which turns your computer into a personal BES server.  That said, this is NOT a great solution.  You have to have it running on your computer 24x7 and a reliable connection to your Exchange server.
There are no less than THREE products that will sync your Google Calendar to your BlackBerry wirelessly:
Google Sync from Google - OTA Install from http://m.google.com/sync, and a way to sync your Outlook Calendar to Google Calendar from Google here.  Frankly, I wouldn't go any further!
    Companion Link for Google ($30)
    GCalSync (Free - OTA: http://wap.gcalsync.com/)
Unfortunately I'm not aware of any sync available for Google Contacts, or any wireless sync options for the Address Book that aren't BES.
Yahoo Go! will try to sync your BlackBerry address book with your Yahoo address book, but I had problems with this, and I don't even know if it's still supported!
Finally, if money is no option, you may want to try a Hosted BES solution.  This costs between $5 and $30 per month over and above your BlackBerry Data Plan (which may also have to be changed from BIS to BES service which usually costs more too).
In searching around, it looks like Google recently released the API's for Contacts, so there may be a BlackBerry Sync solution for Google Contacts soon - cross your fingers!

  • Time Capsule + VPN

I have a DLS modem (Time-Warner) and Time Capsule.  Great access & speed.
I would like to start using a VPN (like BTguard) to secure my internet connections for things like torrents, p2p, anonymous surfing, etc.
Can this work?  Anyone have experience with this?  Recommend a VPN service provider which works well w/ the Time Capsule?
    Thank you.
    =brian

Time Capsule should have nothing to do with VPN setup.. it has no vpn in it.. well none that is user accessible although I think iCloud does connect to it via ipsec.
All you need to do is use a vpn client on the device.. and choose whatever service you want for whatever it is you need.. the TC is irrelevant. But do note.. every now and then Apple makes a firmware that does not work with vpn.. hopefully the latest ones are ok.. but TC does not have upnp so sometimes you will need to manually forward the ports.. it might be easier to use dsl modem as router as well and bridge the TC. that makes it totally irrelevant.

  • How can I sync my calendar with outlook

This question has a couple parts to it.<br><br>First, I am self employed and use Outlook as my primary calendar. With my BB7 device this syncing issue was easy but I find it so hard with my new Z30.<br><br>My email is a rogers.com email. I have 2 email accounts on my device (personal and business which are both rogers.com emails.<br><br>How can I sync my calendar with outlook and allow changes made in both outlook or the device appear updated on both outlook and my device?<br><br>When I make a calendar entry in my phone it prompts me to use either my groups, my work email, my personal email and then I see BLINK with the name of my office computer.<br><br>What should I be using as my default calendar? The one that says BBlink-Computer name or my business email address?<br><br>Secondly is there a way to sync all my calendar entries with outlook to avoid personal and business conflicts? That is my BBM group calendar entries, personal email calendar entries and my business calendar entries?<br><br>I'm really baffled by all this. I keep being told I need to set up an outlook.com email address. Do I really need to do this? I prefer not to.<br><br>Essentially, how can I make all my calendar entries show on my office outlook calendar so I can see everything to avoid scheduling conflicts and not need to check my device before booking an appointment in my desktop outlook?<br><br>Lastly I have my outlook set to show me Canadian Holidays. How can I get these to appear in my device calendar?<br><br>Please...<br>This has been baffling me since I for my device about a month ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated.<br><br>I have the latest link software on my PC and have the latest OS on my phone.<br><br>Thank you in advance to all that reply.<br><br>Regards,<br>Dan

I think (and I'll double check) only the BBLink events will sync on a wired USB sync. I'm fairly certain of that.
You'll need to use your calendar syncing via an EAS email account (outlook.com, for instance, is free) to sync wirelessly. It works great. I use it and was a former tied to the USB sync guy as well... and I thought I was gonna die a painful death without it. I found more freedom this way.
This explains the process. But I don't think you'll get BBM Groups to sync.

  • STATIC IP issues from outside of firewall

    Hi
I’m having one issue, we have static IP and we NAT the same to some local IP for our internal needs. Whenever we tried to reach the static IP from outside of firewall(some other network), it is working properly. But when we try to ping or use that static IP in internal LAN that is not working.
192.168.0.149 is internal LAN I have NAT to 202.xxx.xxx.xxx static IP with port 80.
    Please help me on this.
