VPN User History

Hi All,
In my company we have server's running 2008 r2, We would like to have a report of getting the log-on and log-off for the VPN User's. Can you please kindly assist me on this regards.
Thank you
Rajenderenk

Hi,
Based on my experience, you can
check the system event log for events logged during the connection process if you select
Log all events on the
Logging tab in the properties of a VPN server in the Routing and Remote Access snap-in.
In addition, you can also check the authentication and accounting information in local logging files if you enable authentication and accounting logging from the
Settings
tab on the properties of the Local File object in the
Remote Access Logging folder in the Routing and Remote Access snap-in.

  • ASA does not propagate routes to VPN users

    Good afternoon
I´m having an issue regarding the propagation of routes to VPN users that authenticate through the asa tunnel-group.
I have a VPN-Users-Pool from where my users receive their IP address, and after authentication and the tunnel is established the idea is for the user to get to the following networks defined in the following ACL:
    access-list Inside standard permit 10.1.0.0 255.255.0.0
    access-list Inside standard permit 192.168.15.0 255.255.224.0
Now the problem is that after the tunnel is established the only route the user receives is the default route (which is not suposed to be sent). The user does not receive the specified routes in the ACL above. He also does not receive the netmask and assumes a /8 netmask (given that the network pool from where he is receiving the IP is a class A network).
The network routing is working as expected (when I add the static routes directly to the users PC, everything works OK). It´s just the issue of the ASA not propagating the routes as it should.
Here are my split tunneling settings:
    group-policy DefaultRAGroup attributes
    vpn-idle-timeout 1
    vpn-tunnel-protocol l2tp-ipsec
    pfs disable
    split-tunnel-policy tunnelspecified
    split-tunnel-network-list value Inside
    group-policy DfltGrpPolicy attributes
    split-tunnel-policy tunnelspecified
    split-tunnel-network-list value Inside
    Any ideas?
    I apreciate your help
    Best regards

Thank you for your reply. I´m sending the config bellow (I´ve cleared all info confidential such as IPs, passwords, timeout values, etc, but i think what you have bellow is enough to get a clear picture):

  • Routing issue for remote vpn user and spoke

    Hi all,
i have configure VPN (see attached file)
before upgrading ASA from 8.3 to 8.4,  SPOKES was able to communicate between them and  also remote VPN users was able to access spoke site.
after upgrade  ASA HUB, neither spoke-to-spoke  nor remoteuser---to---spoke cannot communicate
here is NAT exemption configuration on ASA HUB.  only this ASA have been upgrade. nothing have been done on other site

Please do you know what can be the problem ?
thanks so much for your help

Since you are not NATing any of those traffic and it's a u-turn traffic, pls remove those 4 NAT statements. They are not required at all.
Pls "clear xlate" after removing it and let us know how it goes.

  • ASA 5505 Anyconnect VPN Users can't access Internet

Vpn user cannot access the internet but able to ping the lan network (192.168.1.0).. it seem like im missing a lan or nat rule.. Possibly allowing the vpn subnet 192.168.2.0 /24 to pass through to the internet.  Im looking to accomplish this without split tunneling.. Thanks

on 8.2.5 version or lower:  Let say your inside hosts are accessing Internet by using dynamic nat index "1" and now you can use the same nat index "1" allow your vpn-pool range to be part of the same dynamic-nat index "1" to access the Internet.  Note I am natting source interface is be outside for vpn-client users because they (vpn-users) are physically coming off the outside interface.
    nat (outside) 1 192.168.2.0 255.255.255.0
    on 8.3 version or greater:
    object network vpn-user-subnet
     subnet 192.168.2.0 255.255.255.0
     nat (outside,outside) dynamic interface
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks

  • Remote Access VPN Users with CX Active Authentication.

I have ASA 5515 with CX for webfiltering , also have enabled remote access vpn . All my inside users are able to get active and passive authentication correctly . But for remote access VPN users , they are redirected to ASA external ip and CX authentication port 9000 but a blank page comes in and there is no prompt for authentication. I wasnt doing split tunneling , but now i have excluded ASA WAN ip from the tunnel and still have the same issue.
The CX version we have is 9.3.1.1

Have you excluded the VPN traffic from being NATed when traffic is going between clients?
Please post a full sanitised configuration of the router so we can check it for configuration issues.

  • Problem: More than one VPN user at a time - Airport Extreme Base Station

    Hey Folks,
Myself and my girlfriend both have work laptop PCs. It appears that the AEBS only allows one VPN user at a time. When a new user is logging in, it will kick out the other user.
Is there a setting on the AEBS that will allow more than one VPN user? Is it a firewall setting?
    Thanks for your help.

It may the the firmware. 7.3.1. does seem as friendly to some VPNs as 7.2.1. where we had no problem running two VPNs. You could consider switching back to 7.2.1.

  • What are the best practices to migrate VPN users for Inter forest mgration?

What are the best practices to migrate VPN users for Inter forest mgration?

It depends on a various factors. There is no "generic" solution or best practice recommendation. Which migration tool are you planning to use?
Quest (QMM) has a VPN migration solution/tool.
ADMT - you can develop your own service based solution if required. I believe it was mentioned in my blog post.

    Hello,
I have a base config of AnyConnect VPN below, however the ASA 8.3.1 code has deprecated some commands and the VPN/NAT/FW rule syntax is quite different. Can someone point out what's missing from the pertinent config below that prevents the VPN Pool from accessing the internal LAN?

    Hi Rohan,
Are you saying to replace "nat (any, any)" with "nat (inside, outside)"? I was wondering about this because I'd always done "nat (inside, outside)" but a colleague had performed the initial configuration which already contained "nat (any, any)" statement and I was not sure if this was just something new in 8.3.1. I also noticed the "global" command is no longer available.
I will give this a try. Thanks.

  • L2TP and fixed Framed IP Address for VPN user

    Hi,
I have a running L2TP/IPsec VPN setup with authentification against a radius server (freeradius2 witch mysql). I would like to have some of my VPN users get a fixed IP address instead of the dynamically assigned IP Pool.
The radius server is returning the correct parameters, I think.
I hope someone can help me.

  • Assigning IP addresses to VPN users from Cisco ISE

    Hi all,
I would appreciate if anyone could share his experience in assigning ip addresses (not static ones, but from a pool) to VPN users. The Radius is Cisco ISE and I am trying to configure this in the Authorization Results Tab. VPN gateway is ASA 8.4.
    Thanks in advance,
    Lora

    Hi Lora,

  • Fixed ip for vpn user- aaa authenticated

    Hi all,
i am using asa 5520 as my vpn box. All vpn users login to vpn box associated with a aaa server. The authenticaltion takes place on aaa server. If i use local database for user login, i can assign fixed static ip to the user via its vpn properties. But now i am using aaa for authentication and i want to assign fixed statix IP for some users. How can i do this?

    with local aaa authentication
    go to the user atributes
    like username vpnuser attributes
    vpn-framed-ip-address 192.168.50.1 255.255.255.255
this will give that ip to that user
if u are useing cisco ACS
    under the user setting
    go to :
Assign static IP address-If a specific IP address should be used for this user, click this option and type the IP address in the text box. The IP address assignment in User Setup overrides the IP address assignment in Group Setup
and the following link give step-by step intstruction to configure cisco ACS AAA

  • How can I get the information on the Users history in Enterprise 6.3.1

Need help on the following. Since I'm an HFM guy and havent touch Enterprise for a while, I need help on the following:
We want to have a report that indicates the Users history re: date and time users sign in and out of each Hyperion 6.3.1 application.
Where can I get that information? Was thinking to look in <application>.use file but not able to see it properly using a text editor.

Enterprise does not have any logs that track login/logout information. You can potentially check the error log for the first activity a user executes for example:
data refresh or data load, which contain date and time of execution, but it will require some data filtering.

  • Default Gateway address for multiple VPN users/clients

    Hello,
We need some help with a VPN setup for a school project.
    What we want to do:
We would like to have aprox. 10 different VPN uses that can connect to our Windows Server 2012 R2 which is setup as a VPN server, by the Role called Remote access. And the VPN server is working and we are able to connect to it from another location/computer.
    Our current setup:
We have a Cisco router, that are configured with 10 Vlans, from Vlan 10 to Vlan 20, and a managament Vlan called Vlan 100.
The Cisco router is also acting as DHCP server, so inside each Vlan the DHCP gives IP addresses to that specific Vlan, Ex: Vlan 10 has a 192.168.10.0/24 network. Vlan 11 has a 192.168.11.0/24 network, and so on. Vlan 100 has 192.168.100.0/24 This Vlan 100
has connection to all the Vlans.
We have internet connection on the Router on port 0 and each Vlan are connected to the internet.
We have setup the VPN server with a static IP configuration so it is inside Vlan 100 with a Default gateway, like 192.168.100.1 So the VPN server is connected to the internet.
In AD we have created a User and assigned a static IP address in the user properties, under the Dial-In tab. Here we give this user this IP 192.168.10.225
Now when we connect to the VPN server useing this user, we have no connection to any of the Vlans (ping) and no internet. When we in cmd write ipconfig we can see that our VPN connection has this IP 192.168.10.225 but a Subnet called 255.255.255.255 and
    a Default gateway called 0.0.0.0
We would like the user to recieve the correct IP settings like: If we connect with our user, it should recieve the IP as it does, but also a subnet called 255.255.255.0 and a default gateway called 192.168.10.1
    How is this achieved?
The reason we want this is: We want to create a VPN user for each Vlan. So a user with permission to access Vlan 10 but are not able to see the other Vlans, and then a new user to access Vlan 11 but not able to see the other vlans, and so on.
Hope someone is able to help us to understand how this is done.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi,
In brief, we can't achieve this. Normally, we would not do this.
Usually, we use firewall or ACL to restrict the remote users.
For example, 192.168.10.100 is assigned to user1 and 192.168.10.101 is assigned to user2. We can use firewall to restrict 192.168.10.100 to access 192.168.10.0/24 and 192.168.10.101 to access 192.168.11.0/24.
    Best Regards.

  • Using ISE to assign ACL's for VPN users

    Hi,
I've just implemented ISE into our environment using various documents and videos found online but have not been able to find anything about using ISE to Authenticate remote users via VPN and assigning them the ACL's created for thewir level of network access.
Does anyone know of a good document or training video knocking about that I can use?
    Thanks
    Jason

    Jason,
If the ACL is present on the ASA you can use the "filter-id" radius attribute to reference the acl to the user's session. You can make this work by configuring an authorization profile and tying this in with your authorization policy for vpn users.
If you want to push an acl then my recommendation is to use the cisco-av-pairs to push the acls since the username is associated with the acl that is applied to the username of the vpn session.
