VPN via WRVS4400N-EU router
Hi,
I would like to buy a WRVS4400N-EU router, please let me know if the VPN connection between this router and client PC requires a dedicated VPN Client Application to connect or just windows wizzard wihout any other application.
Thanks.
I think currently not. It think it does not support Windows 7 nor any x64 at the moment. I think they are working on that. But you may want to check the Cisco Small Business Support community. The WRVS is now part of Cisco Small Business and supported over there. You also find some Cisco people over there which may be able to give you the latest status of QuickVPN on Windows 7 and x64.

Issues Accessing VPN via Time Capsule
My work has a VPN (via Palo Alto's Global Protect) set-up to allow for remote desktop connections. For some future projects, it is really important that I get this working. However, I am running into an issue that is directly related to my Apple Time Capsule (an older "flat" model, part number MC343AM/A, running the latest firmware, v7.6.4).
Basically, I can access the VPN and remote desktop no problem if I connect my computer directly to the modem (or if I tether my computer to my phone). However, if I connect the laptop to the router, then the VPN connects and is stable (as verified by my work's IT department), but I lose all other internet connectivity, and am unable to actually connect to the remote desktop. This occurs if I use WiFi or connect through ethernet, and I've verified that it happens on two different computers (an iMac, and a MacBook Pro).
I'm wondering if it is because I use a MAC address filter to assign static IP addresses to the devices on my network? Are there any other settings I should change on the Time Capsule to allow for the VPN passthrough? Before I factory reset the router and lose all of my configurations (e.g., wifi security settings, etc), I was hoping someone might have run into a similar issue and would have some advice!
Any tips would be extremely appreciated.
Best,
MattBefore I factory reset the router and lose all of my configurations (e.g., wifi security settings, etc),
We can fix that.. export your configuration.. The TC must be open in edit area for this option to work. So at least you don't need to lose settings.
7.6.4 has some real issues with ports.. That it establishes the vpn ok is good but it is clearly not able to pass some of the ports that are required. Are you able to ping or copy files at all over the tunnel?? it might be caused by a number of things. But you should realise that once the tunnel is open the computer is working on a different subnet.. and its own internal firewall can have issues.. or other issues at the other end.
I would have a try at taking the firmware back to 7.6.1 and even 7.5.2 can be a good test.. since it is before BTMM with iCloud where the TC would also complicate things with ipsec security.
To downgrade firmware simply hold down the option key while you click the version number. -
AnyConnect VPN Client on IOS Router
Hi Guys, I configured AnyConnect SSL VPN on Cisco 2811 router. It works perfectly when I login via web and run secure mobility client. However, when I connect directly from the mobility client connection fails. It does not even ask me for username and password.

I have not figured out yet, why mobility client works when launched from the web and why it does not work directly. Any input or hints would be much appreciatedHi Giorgi,
This could be related to CSCti89976.
AnyConnect 3.0 doesn't work with existing IOS.
Symptoms:
Standalone AnyConnect 3.0 client does not work with an existing IOS headend.
Conditions:
AnyConnect 3.0 with an IOS Router as the headend.
Workaround:
Use AnyConnect 2.5 or use weblaunch.
Upgrade IOS
Would it be possible to upgrade the IOS version?

SonicWall SourceNAT VPN setup as default route for all traffic!
Hi,OK hope someone can help with this mess.....Our customer has been taken over by a US company who have said all outgoing internet traffic must go via their data centre. They want us to create an IPSEC vpn from our SonicWALL TZ215 to them then route all traffic locally via this VPN.In principle this didn't sound too bad. Then there were some more options:Our local subnet 172.x.x.x has to be NAT'd to a single /32 address. 192.x.x.131They also require our destination network to be set as 0.0.0.0. as they wont specify the range at the datacenter.I have managed to get the VPN up but using the the NAT address as my local subnet and using the option on the SonicWALL "Use this VPN Tunnel as default route for all Internet traffic" on the remote network. Phase 1 and Phase 2 work ok. The problem i now have is i need to route all LAN traffic...
This topic first appeared in the Spiceworks CommunityHi Norbert,
I am sorry to say that configuring routes in Azure Virtual network is not supported. I recommend you to submit your reuqirement on Azure Feedback and hope it would be released soon:

VPN Server won't route VPN client to gateway
We have a WIndows 7 VPN client that successfully connects with the 2012 VPN server and can access servers and resources on the remote 96.0 LAN; however, the VPN client can not access the 96.1 default gateway and thus no subnets outside of 96.0.
Use default gateway on remote network is NOT checked, but does not work with it checked either.
RRAS on the VPN server does allow for routing IPv4 and is setup to assign addresses via DHCP.You probably don't need a static route to get the traffic to the other subnets. Is the VPN router also the router for subnets? If it is, the packets should be delivered directly to any client in an attached subnet. You do have the remotes
using their own subnet? If not, Bing of Google off subnet addressing. You need that to be able to route the VPN traffic at the central site.
What you do need is a static route at the router which is the gateway router for the LAN segment to send the traffic to the VPN server, not to your Internet gateway (which would be the default behaviour. Whether the Internet gateway
is the VPN server or another router depends on your network config).
Exactly how you set it up depends on how your local network is configured. I haven't done that sort of thing lately, but you probably have to use the IP address of the VPN demand-dial interface as the target address of the route command rather than
the RRAS internal interface.

I'm running iTunes Remote App from a couple of iPhone 5's and a first generation iPod Touch. iTunes is running on a PC - Windows 7. My home network runs two Wifi Routers, each with a different SSID. I've had no problems with the Remote app running this set up for the last 8 months but recently the App can only find my iTunes library when the iPhone/iPod is connected via one specific router, when connected to the network via the other router, no iTunes library is found. I'm also running an Apple TV and it's the same as the iTunes Library, only visible via the one SSID.
Everything else seems to work fine when connected via either router, eg Internet on the iPhones (definitely via wifi)
I've tried renewing the lease on the iPhone wifi connection, restarting everything.....several times.....
It used to work fine, this only seems to have been a problem in recent weeks
Any help or advice would be much appreciated
Thanks
IanIt turned out to be the firewall settings on our router. Her machine was sending traffic that our router interpreted as a DoS attack and blacklisted her Airport's MAC address. That's why it would work fine if she switched to Ethernet.

Internet connection via Airport Extreme/router thats not working, why?
I have been having problems with the internet connection via Airport Extreme which I find it a bit unusual and its still driving me nuts! This is what happened:
I have lost my internet connection last Sunday evening upon my return from a weekend away from home. The last time I have used the internet connection on my macbook was the previous Friday morning. Prior to the apparent disconnection on Sunday, I have always used my internet connection wirelessly through Airport Extreme (that is connected via ethernet cable to the NETGEAR DG834v2 ADSL modem which had worked beautifully until the problem arose on my return). This wireless internet connection allowed me to surf the internet anywhere in my home.
However, upon the successful re-connection to the internet via the modem router, I have discovered several new problems. I have tried to set up the internet connection wirelessly again but instead the following happened:
1. Router (Netgear) drops ADSL connection and cannot reconnect when connected to airport via Ethernet. (which is the case when using airport wireless).
2. Router connects to ADSL fine when computer is connected to it via Ethernet. (However, router disconnects when magsafe power adapter is taken out for some inexplicable reason!)
3. Router connects to ADSL fine when nothing is connected to the router (ie. No Ethernet connections)
4. Router connects to ADSL fine when connected to airport via Ethernet and computer is connected to airport via Ethernet.
So from the above, I cannot connect to the internet properly whether wirelessly or not so I suspect it could be faulty router or could it be airport extreme? I have asked my ISP for an explanation and all they have said is that it cannot be the mis-configuration but could be to do with the power adaptors or the way plugs are set up and suggested I take out all the power plugs (and power surge protector) out to switch everything off, the macbook, router, printer and airport extreme. However, when I have re-plugged them all back in, the problems I have described above still persists!
Would appreciate any help if anyone here recognises why this is the case and what seems to be the cause of this. If so, what should I do? Though I have written back to my ISP again yesterday for more help so im waiting to hear from them...
Thanks

VPN between ASA5505 Easy VPN Server and 881G Router as Easy VPN Client
Hello,
I have problem in VPN between ASA5505 Easy VPN Server and 881G Router as Easy VPN Client. ASA 5505 have 7.2.3 software and 881G router have 15.1 software.
881G is configured as hardware client in network exstention mode, and it is placed behind NAT. ASA5505 is working as server. Same VPN Group works correctly from VPN software clients.
When I send traffic from 881G client side, in show cryto sessin detail I see encrypted packets. But with same command I dont see decrypted packet on ASA5505 side. On both devices Phase 1 and Phase 2 are UP.
VPN is working when I replace ASA5505 with ASA5510 correctly with have 8.4.6 software. But problem is that i need to do this VPN between ASA5505 and 881G.
Can you help me, how can I debug or troubleshoot this problem ?
I am unable to update software on ASA5505 side.Hello,

How can I connect to a VPN via PPTP?
Hello,
I am a foreigner living in Taiyuan, the capital city of Shanxi Province, in China. I bought my macbook the summer of 2006. It still works perfectly except I cannot connect to the internet here at the university.
The internet here is split into two parts: local, and international. The ethernet connection allows me to access Chinese websites, but nothing else. It sounds counterintuitive but really, that's how it is. In order to get the rest of the world, all computers have to connect to a VPN via PPTP. Once this is established, viola, you have internet.
My problem is I cannot seem to connect to the VPN. I have used Internet Connect, I have created a VPN via PPTP, and put in all the right numbers...
the VPN IP is 202.207.128.115
the username is tyut
the password is tyut
But when I try to connect, it just says it can't. Nobody at the university has been helpful because they've never used a Mac before, and besides which, they aren't used to using a computer in English.
Can anyone help me? Or does anyone know how to get in touch with Apple Services in China (in English)?Yeah, but that's not the problem here. I'm an English teacher at Taiyuan University of Technology (the irony does not escape me). The other teachers have PCs and can get full internet in their apartment. Since I have a mac, it's much harder for the school technicians to help me.
This is what my log says from the VPN connection (which does connect now.)
Mon Oct 29 16:05:52 2007 : PPTP connecting to server '202.207.128.115' (202.207.128.115)...
Mon Oct 29 16:05:52 2007 : PPTP connection established.
Mon Oct 29 16:05:52 2007 : Using interface ppp0
Mon Oct 29 16:05:52 2007 : Connect: ppp0 <--> socket[34:17]
Mon Oct 29 16:05:52 2007 : local IP address 172.30.1.252
Mon Oct 29 16:05:52 2007 : remote IP address 172.30.1.2
But I still can't load any pages from the VPN connection, just the regular ethernet connection (local internet). It doesn't work if I use IP addresses instead. :-/ I unselected "send all traffic over the VPN connection" because if it's selected, I don't even get local internet.
Looking online I found a possible fix, but it's for Windows XP. I don't know how to find the same settings on the Mac...For Windows XP:
1. Click Start -> Control Panel
2. Click on the Network and Internet Connections icon and then click "Network Connections". If your Control Panel is in classic view, simply double click the "Network Connections" icon.
3. Right click on the new VPN connection and select Properties
4. Select the "Networking" tab
5. Verify that Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) is highlighted
6. Click on the Properties button
7. Within the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) properties window, click on the "Advanced..." button. Within the Advanced TCP/IP Settings window, REMOVE the check mark next to "Use default gateway on remote network"
8. Click "OK" to close all open windows
Where would the "default gateway on remote network" be on a Mac? -
Trying to connect my wired PC to the wireless airport express via the wireless router.
Trying to connect my wired PC to the wireless airport express via the wireless router. TP-link wired/wireless router. Ultimate goal is to send music from iTunes on PC to wireless router, then to airport, then to reciever. The amber light is blinking. Thanks in advance for the help!
If I'm understanding right your need and your computer has wired access to your network/router, all you have to do is give your AX wireless or wired access to your network too.
Wired should be easier. Just use a network cable to connect to the router. Power up the AX and look for it on AirPort Utility, do so without changing any of your computer settings. If it's visible, then on iTunes your AX should be visible on the AirPlay icon at the bottom-right corner.
If you want to connect your AX to your router wirelessly I would suggest to reset your AX settings by pressing and holding for a few secs the reset button next to all the ports. Once it is reset, using your computer try to look for the wireless network it'll be creating, it should be something like Apple Network 4341eb. Join that network and, using the AirPort Utility, configure your AX as a network client. Go to Wireless > Wireless Mode: Join a wireless network.
Select your router wireless network from the drop-down menu, select the appropriate security and type in your password. Click update.
It'll restart and automatically join your network. Have your computer join back your router network and, again, in iTunes bottom right you should be able to see the AX speakers.
Let me know if this worked.

How to debrick a WRVS4400N V2 Router?
I've got a WRVS4400N V2 Router that just keeps rebooting itself. It powers up, the diag red LED stays lit, it gets part way through the boot process and reboots itself. I would like to try to reflash the device, but don't know if this is possible in the condition that it is in. Any ideas? Thanks!
Hello Mr. Cianflone,
Usually the red led flashing indicates a hardware issue. In that case, I would recommend you a factory reset and if the problem persist. Please contact our Cisco support center and open a case.

Can I print from my iPad 2 via a wireless router to a kodak printer
Is it possible to send a document from my iPad via my wireless router to a kodak printer.
It's possible with AirPrint. See:
AirPrint Information and FAQ: Apple Support Communities
iOS: AirPrint 101
If the printer does not support AirPrint then you may be able to activate it with AirPrint Activator 2.1b2 or Printopia 2.1.4. -
Whenever I try to activate my 4th generation iPod Touch bought today, via my home router (Asus) which has a good signal, I get the warning: "Your iPod Touch could not be activated because the activation server cannot be reached." Very frustrating. When I try to activate it via iTunes on my HP laptop, it won't do it either. Very frustrated and unimpressed.
You are running into the activation lock.
iCloud: Find My iPhone Activation Lock in iOS 7
You have to either enter the Apple/iCloud ID and password in order to activate the iPod for use. Or you can try to dissassociate the iPod for that account by:
Find My iPhone Activation Lock: Removing a device from a previous owner’s account
If you can't do that you have a nice, thin but expensive brick
