VS seems to get stuck on loading user settings

This is my first time to run VS2012 on a newly installed Windows 7 box. The installation went smoothly.  After I started VS, it showed the following message soon:
Microsoft Visual Studio is loading user settings. This may take a few minutes.
It has remained there for about half an hour.  The process devenv.exe has been using about 25% CPU time on a quard-core machine. How long should  I wait before killing the process?
Any tip will be greatly appreciated.
Hong

Hi Hong,
Thanks for your post.
When open visual studio the first time, it may take a while to load your user settings. But your process seems taking too much time. Not sure what is the reason.
Since you can use it and it starts quickly, I'll mark this thread.
If you have any problem or updates, please feel free to let me know.

  • My apps suddenly get stuck at loading

I bought a 8GB Ipod Touch a week ago and it's been working great until last night.I was downloading apps on my ipod touch from the app store, but they would get stuck at loading.I can't delete them and I've searched the internet for solutions.I'm restoring my ipod now in hope that it fixes the problem. If it doesn't work, should I just return it or is there any other solutions?I'm really frustrated about this. All I've been able to find is posts on apps just crashing when people open them. I can't even open mine.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Same problem here. I have the 1st Gen iPod touch and yesterday I was downloading updates for several of my Apps then the download froze. The progress bar on the App icon is empty and the icon is dim. I can't select the App. When I go back to try to download the update again it just closes the App store. I had to download the updates through iTunes on my Mac then Sync to my iPod. I tried rebooting it (the iPod) and nothing helped. Today it happened again. Just right now, same problem but now I don't have my Mac with me and nothing seems to be resolving it. I did not lose my WiFi connection at all. I'm still running on 2.2.1 What version are you running on yours?
Since we have different generations I doubt it's a hardware issue.

  • Does iDVD work with Maverick? This is the first time I tried to burn a DVD using iDVD after upgrading to Maverick. It seems to get stuck at encoding menu stage and not doing anything.

I tried to burn a DVD using iDVD after upgrading to Maverick, first time I tried after upgrading to Maverick a few weeks ago. It seems to get stuck at encoding menu stage and not doing anything. Does anyone else have the same problem?

I did not have a DVD handy to burn but I have just created a small 2 minute video and created a Disk Image and also a VIDEO_TS folder, the encoding worked correctly, so it works with some items.
You may get a better responce in the iDVD forum.

  • Why does my iPhoto seem to get "stuck" a lot of times to the point where I have to force quit it and how do I fix it?

Why does my iphoto seem to get "stuck" a lot of the times when I try to exit it to the point where I have to "force quit" it and how do I fix the problem that causes it?

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a potential solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
does this only happen when you try to quit iPhoto?
    what fixes have you tried?
    where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
    what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?

  • Trying to upgrade but seems to get "stuck"???

I'm trying to upgrade to the os4 software, but as the iPhone is being backed up, it seems to get stuck and doesn't indicate that anything is happening. Any advise??

Yes we did the uninstall today... Still just the same , error message is 0xe8000065 . We then tried to follow directions that apple give, if the uninstall doesn't work, next on list is to 'restart the iPod service' the insert tins are not helpful, I could t find ' manage' in 'my computer' found services somehow which was next steo then couldn't find iPod service properties on vista. , hard work and a waste of time!

  • Amazon Cloud Drive page gets stuck on "loading."

When I try to go to my Amazon cloud drive, the page opens but it gets stuck on "Loading" and the drive contents never appear. The page loads fine in IE and Chrome and I'm not having problems with any other websites in Firefox.

    Thanks ideato,
I gave that a shot and still the same symptoms.

  • Wallpaper seems to be stuck for other user.

This was an archived post without an answer. I have the same question.
Wallpaper seems to be stuck for other user.
    Posted: Nov 1, 2005 3:21 PM
    Hi,
I have myself as admin and my girlfirend as a user on my iMac. If she changes her wallpaper to a different image (any image even one from the apple selection) when we rotate the users back to me then back to her, it briefly shows up the old wallpaper before displaying the new one. It's really annoying and makes the rotation effect look less than impressive. I've restarted with the new wallpaper selected, tried replacing it several times, etc. but to no avail. No matter what I do, we seem to be stuck with the old wallpaper constantly appearing for about 3 seconds before the new one replaces it. New 10.4.3 made no difference.
Can anyone suggest how to fix this, apart from a re-install.
    Thanks in advance.

Is nobody else having this issue?

  • Can't get WRT54G to start up, gets stuck at "checking computer settings"

Can't get WRT54G to start up, gets stuck at "checking computer settings" at 99% Please help!
If I hit the escape key it will go to the password screen, it looks like the password is already entered for me so I hit enter, but then it just goes back to "checking computer settings" and won't go past 99% again.'
Sorry but the last post mistakenly said the wrong number so I posted this.

If you are running the install CD that came with the router, the behavior you describe is exactly what happened when I tried using the CD today. The CD didn't seem to work with my computer's fixed IP address (not in the 192.168.1.0 network.)
What worked for me was to set my computer to have the fixed IP address 192.168.1.2. Then I was able to contact the router using its web interface at 192.168.1.1 amd make the necessary settings.
The password had NOT been changed from the default despite the install CD software seemingly accepting a new password. The default password worked.

I am in the midst of setting up my new iPad Air, and the process seems to be stuck on "Updating iCloud settings..."  What is a reasonable time for this step to take?

Shouldn't take more than a few seconds to a minute.  If it's stuck, you might want to give Apple support a call to see if they are experiencing unreported server issues.  Since your device is new, you are within the 90-day free call support period.  You can set up the call here: http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/.  You will need your serial number, which is on the box and (I believe) the back of your iPad.

  • Safari seems to get "stuck" especially while trying to download in itunes

I don't know if anyone else is having this problem, but my Safari connection keeps getting "stuck," especially while trying to download podcasts and TV episodes from itunes. It's like everything stops for a few seconds, then resumes (though I've yet to finish downloading the TV episodes from itunes because doing so seems to exacerbate the problem). It's not an issue only with my computer, because it's happening on my ibook G4 and on the Macbook. I thought at first it was trouble with the wireless connection, and unplugging and replugging the modem in seems to work, but only temporarily. I tried using the internet earlier tonight with itunes closed, or even open with the downloads on pause, and things were fine. But when I tried to resume my downloads, I'm having the same problem. It's like everything just stops for a minute or two, and then the page I'm trying to get to will load. Has anyone else had a similar problem in the last few days? Is it an issue with Safari, itunes, or should I call the cable company? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Safari doesn't download anything from iTunes; that's handled by iTunes itself, so your issue seems to be with iTunes, not Safari. In that case, you need to start a topic in the iTunes forum for help with that.

  • X1 Carbon gets stuck at "Loading Windows" screen

About 90% of thetime I try to boot up my laptop, it gets stuck at the "Loading Windows" screen.  I have waited for 10+ minutes and nothing.  Other time, it will boot up fine, but that seems to be a rarity.  I have tried the startup repair tool and even completely reformatted the hard drive and did a fresh install of Windows 7 64 bit and the problem persists.
Is this definitely a hardware problem or is it possible that it is somehow software related even though I reformatted and did a fresh install?

Hey...I just posted a solution to a similar problem. Try it for yours and post if it did the trick. I hope this helps!
