VS2013 MSBuild process not cleaning up after itself

I'm sure that this has only happened since i started using VS2013.  Progressively, the task list is filling up with MSBuild processes (along with conhost.exe - one for each as far as I can tell).
It looks like it starts off (after a machine reboot) with 7 MSBuilds - I'm guessing one per core?  But is building up quickly (after it gets crowded enough, it stops building).
Is this a known bug with VS2013?  Is there a workaround for it?

Hi,
Thank you for your feedback.
Please accept my apology for this delayed reply because of the weekend here.
Since I have not Win 7 involved, I could not reproduce this issue completely.
I have tried to build one sample application from the Visual Studio 2013 Pro Command Prompt on Win 8.1, 64-Bit.
The first time when I built the solution, I could see 3 MSBuild tasks displayed on the following  screenshot:
As for the second time to build it, the MSBuild tasks lasted only for seconds and then queued  themselves out quickly.
So I don't think this is the problem of  Visual Studio 2013 Pro.
Please check if you need to install some SDKs for this scenario or consider updating the Windows system to see if this issue could be fixed.
Best Regards,
Jane.

  • WebLogic not cleaning up after itself?

    Hi,
I've only recently started using JDeveloper 11g (11.1.2.0.38.60.17 to be precise) and am having trouble with a web application of mine using WebLogic.
With other tools I've used, when running/debugging a servlet everything is fine, and when stopping it cleans out the deployed build of the web app from whatever container was used. However, WebLogic seems to leave the files where it deployed even after stopping the application and WebLogic.
This is quite a problem as my servlet puts quite a few folders and files in the WEB-INF folder and sets them as read only too. When not read only it seems that the second time I start the application it removes all files in the folder that were created before, but leaves the folder structure which causes issues when my code looks for these and expects files to be there if the folder is there. With the files set to read only WebLogic doesn't even begin to deploy my code for some reason.
For example (taken from the standard out when attempting to debug with the read only files left behind from a previous run):
    IntegratedWebLogicServer started.

+[Server Instance IntegratedWebLogicServer is shutting down.  All applications currently running will be terminated and undeployed.]+

Just wondering if this is expected behavior? Shouldn't it remove all the web app data when undeploying? Surely there should be an option for this if not (I already checked the "undeploy all applications on shutdown" box is ticked in the weblogic server settings)?
Currently, every time I want to test my application I have to manually remove the folder, which just seems absurd.

  • Enqueue process not getting start after failover

    Hi Experts,
We are facing problem suddenly after doing failover test. This problem arrived today only. Before it was happening successfully.
Before failover everything is running fine on primary node. After doing failover the enqueue sever process on ASCS instance is not starting in secondary node.
It's also showing license will expire on 16.11.2010, but system has
    already license installed.
The ASCS start logs are showing as below -

    Please suggest your solutions.
    Regards,
    Ramesh.

    Hi Gagan,
The enqueue problem is resolved. Atually 2 days before we increased RAM of primary node by 1GB, and that was creating issue. we revert it back and again did a switchover and everything is running fine. It was strange that my secondary node is getting affected due to increasing the RAM in primary node.
Regarding license key, can you please provide me detail steps to resolve it. I have gone through installation doc but couldnt find it. Now Tcode slicense is showing another hardware key in my DI system. Do I need to get seperate permenant license key for DI by registering DI host and new hardware key??
Just confirm and also add some of your expert suggetsions.
    Regards,
    Ramesh.

  • Java processes not coming up after WAS JAVA installation

    Hi,
After installing WAS ABAP and WAS JAVA, the Java related processes are not being seen.
Under /usr/sap/<instance_name>/work, dev_jcontrol shows the following error:
    ERROR => OS release OS/400 V5R4 M0  570 is not supported with this startup framework (640) [jstartxx_mt. 3883]
I had applied the SAPJ2EE patch but still I am having the same error.
What next I could do to bring the Java processes up?
    Thanks
    Kiran

    Hi Kiran,
I do have in mind, that this is described in the installation notes. It is very easy. The CDs are built for V5R3 and not V5R4 - but you are running V5R4. So, you need to patch the J2EE engine to the latest level and then this problem will disappear as the latest patch for sure includes the V5R4 certification.

  • Known issue: Cortana voice command definitions are not cleaned up after uninstalling the app (Windows 10 Insider Preview SDK and tools, April 2015 release)

Voice command definitions are not removed from Cortana's cache when an app is uninstalled. This may cause conflicts between two apps that share the same voice commands.

This issue should not impact your ability to reinstall and test the same application. However, you must reinstall the OS in order to reset the cache in cases where you are seeing conflicts between different apps.

  • ORB does not perform clean up after destroy() is called.

    hi,
the HelloClient example (POA model) which is provided in the Java IDL tutorials, does not perform clean up after the execution is complete.
i.e. i can still find the Socket descriptors in the file system under the path (/proc/p_id/fd). Do we need to explicitly destroy the sockets inorder to perform the required clean up??the OS i'm using is Linux.
if yes, then how do i do that.... the following are the steps to reproduce the problem:
    1)start HelloServer
    2)start HelloClient
3)check file count in /proc/process_id/fd before calling init.
    4)invoke ORB.destroy() method.
5)check file count in /proc/process-id/fd after destroy completes.I have included Thread.sleep(25000) inorder to check the file count dynamically at each stage of execution.
Any help in this regard is welcome....!!
    thanks in advance

    Hello:
This reply may be long after the time that you need it ... but the problem
that you are experiencing sounds very much like a bug that was fixed in the J2SE 1.5.0_10 release.
    It is bug 6354718 ....
In the evaluation section of that bug they note:
Yes. It's a known bug in ORB connection management. What's happening here is, the connectionCache that maintains both inbound and outbound connections does not reclaim connections, upon ORB destroy() call. There is a connection reclaim() logic in place, but does not kick in, until it reaches certain watermark levels. Since, a single client can have a multiple ORBs and thereby multiple outbound connections (in the reported case) , with each cache having exactly one connection which leaks up on ORB exit. This leak multiplies based on the number of ORBs and time period over which client stays live, up and running.
The solution is, to walk through the connection cache and close each connection,
no matter what the watermark levels are. This can be done at the corba transport manager close() call.
Note: In the above evaluation they tell you how to fix it yourself but I believe (I haven't tested it yet ....) that if you upgrade to JDK 1.5.0_10, you should find that it has been fixed for you.
I hope that I'm not steering you wrong, but that's my take on your situation.
    John

  • Power Mac G4 not turning on after clean shutdown, works otherwise.

My Power Mac G4 does not turn back on after a clean shutdown, but turns on after being disconnected from the power. If I shut it down cleanly (Apple menu -> Shutdown), it shuts down, but then the power button does not work. After unplugging the computer and plugging it back in, the computer is able to power on successfully. I have reset the PRAM and have reseated the PSU connector.
I am using Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11, but the same problem occurs under Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.8. I don't think the operating system really matters with this type of issue though, because the power button literally will not respond until I unplug and replug the computer.
    Any suggestions?

For this issue you need to set up SSFS.

I am new to SAP. I installed SAP ECC6 EHP4 with default kernel version 701 and it was working fine.
I have upgraded kernel version from 701 to 741
Are you sure kernel 741 is compatible with an EHP 4 system ?

  • "Page not found" error after 5 minutes of see "processing" on the screen

We are using WebLogic 8.1 server and also the WebLogic proxy as our front end. When a user runs a process that takes over 5 minutes using the Proxy URL they receive an IE "Page not found" error after 5 minutes of seeing "processing" on the screen. If they run it on none Proxy URL (directly on WebLogic server) it works fine.
We have looked into the WLIOTimeoutSecs parameter and set in the web.xml for both the HttpClusterServlet and HttpProxyServlet, but this had no affect.
Is there another timeout that controls this 5 minute timeout? It seems if one uses Apache and sets the WLIOTimeoutSecs parameter to a higher number than 300 seconds there is not an issue.
Did this parameter get omitted for the WebLogic Proxy and if so, what does one use?
    Thanks,

    Hello George,
Thank you for the quick reply. I will surely try the option suggested by you.
But what i was thinking is that as this is not a Connection Time Out (500) error, instead its a Page Not Found error, it would be Session-Timeout and not Connection Time-Out.
Maybe I should be looking at:
    SESSION-TIMEOUT due to kernel:
        Kernel parameter:    rdisp/gui_auto_logout
        Kernel parameter:    rdisp/plugin_auto_logout
as per the SAP OSS Note: 705013
But again, I think this Note is pointing to the SICF service and IAC type of iView and not SAP Transaction type iView. Please advice.
    Thanks,
    Gaurav

  • Page item value set in app process not maintained after page submit

Hi -- I have a sequence of events that goes like this:
    1) Page 0 region REG_1 is rendered before footer
    - Region REG_1 uses javascript / AJAX to call App process PROC_1
    - PROC_1 sets Page1 item PAGE1_MESSAGE to X
    - After PROC_1 executes successfully, REG_1 does doSubmit()
    2) Page 0 region REG_2 is rendered before footer; this happens
after the page submit done by REG_1. (Conditions ensure that
    REG_1 is not rendered again)
    - Region REG_2 displays PAGE1_MESSAGE (=X) in an alert.
    - Region REG_2 uses javascript / AJAX to call App process PROC_2
    - PROC_2 sets Page1 item PAGE1_MESSAGE to Y
    - PROC_2 sets Application item DEBUG to PAGE1_MESSAGE (this is for debugging)
    - PROC_2 sets Application item APP_MESSAGE to Y (this is also for debugging)
    - After PROC_2 executes successfully, REG_2 does doSubmit()
    3) After REG_2 submits the page, here's what I have:
    - Application item APP_MESSAGE = Y. Good. This is what it was set to in PROC_2.
    - Page 1 item PAGE1_MESSAGE = X. Bad. This is what it was set to in PROC_1.
    - Application item DEBUG = Y. Good. This at least shows that PAGE1_MESSAGE was
set to Y within PROC_2... but for some reason that value is not being preserved
after the app process is done executing.
    - There are several other application items set in PROC_2, and they're all correct.
Any ideas as to why this is happening? It seems like this should be
pretty straightforward: set the value, submit the page, the value should be what
    I set it to.
    Thanks,
    Carol

Hi -- Thanks for the suggestions. First and 3rd (default value, or being overwritten by process or computation) aren't happening. The source for PAGE1_MESSAGE having is Always, Using app item PAGE1_MESSAGE... but I don't see what else could work here. Not sure if that's the problem.
I've put an example on apex.oracle.com. Workspace is dew_mir_tor. Username is [email protected]. Password is Mir97Dew77!Tor. Application is 22679, RefreshAllTest.
To reiterate the description in my original posting, but using the real application item/region/process names:
    0) Press Button REFRESH_ALL on Page 1. This branches back to Page 1.
    1) Page 0 region Refresh_All is rendered before footer
    - Region sends up an alert to show you it's working
    - Region Refresh_All uses javascript / AJAX to call App process REFRESH_CZAR (You'll see a "wait" window flash up briefly while the app process is running)
    - REFRESH_CZAR sets Page1 item P1_MESSAGE_1 to X (The text here indicates where
the value is being set and when it should be displayed)
    - After REFRESH_CZAR executes successfully, region Refresh_All does doSubmit()
    2) Page 0 region Refresh_Non_Czar is rendered before footer; this happens
after the page submit done by Refresh_Czar. (Conditions ensure that
    Refresh_Czar is not rendered again)
    - Region sends up an alert to show you it's working
    - Region Refresh_Non_Czar displays P1_MESSAGE_1 in an alert.
    - Region Refresh_Non_Czar uses javascript / AJAX to call App process REFRESH_NON_CZAR (You'll see a "wait" window flash up briefly while the app process is running)
    - REFRESH_NON_CZAR sets Page1 item P1_MESSAGE_1 to Y (The text here indicates where
the value is being set and when it should be displayed
    - REFRESH_NON_CZAR sets Application item TEST_VALUE2 to P1_MESSAGE_1 (this just shows that P1_MESSAGE_1 was indeed set to Y in this process...)
    - After process REFRESH_NON_CZAR executes successfully, region Refresh_Non_Czar does doSubmit()
    3) After Refresh_Non_Czar submits the page, Page 0 region Display_Messages is rendered.
It sends up an alert so you can see it's working, and then it displays the value in P1_MESSAGE_1.
The value is still the one that was set in REFRESH_CZAR, not the one set in REFRESH_NON_CZAR.
Note that Display_Messages sets P1_MESSAGE_1 back to null, so you won't see it in session state after it's displayed in the alert. But you can see that TEST_VALUE2 is set to the message from REFRESH_NON_CZAR.
Hope this helps solve the problem!
    Thanks,
    Carol

  • "Page Not Found" Err after arnd 5 mins of processing on SAP Trans iView

    Hello All,
We are facing an issue related to a SAP Transaction iView on our portal.
This transaction is supposed to upload an excel file in RPM and provide a log after the upload is performed. We are trying to upload around 180 projects and the processing goes on in the backend. The program in the backend works as required, but as the iView shows a page not found after around 5-6 mins of processing, the users cannot see the logs in the end!
I suppose there should be some kind of time-out parameter for the Transaction type iView, but we are not able to figure it out!!
We have tried the following parameters without success:
    icm/server_port_0 = PROT=HTTP, PORT=8035, TIMEOUT=3600, PROCTIMEOUT=3600
    icm/keep_alive_timeout (sec.) = 3600
    icm/conn_timeout = 5000
    rdisp/plugin_auto_logout = 1800
Please do suggest if there is anything else that we need to update to get this process to continue on the Portal and avoid the 'Page Not Found' issue.
For the current on-going discussion for the same issue, please refer:
    ["Page Not Found" Error after arnd 5 mins of processing on SAP Trans iView;
    Thank you for your time!

    Hi Gaurav,
I know this thread is old. but i am getting the similar page cannot be displayed after 600 seconds.
I changed the ICM timeout to 1800 from 600 but it still doesnt seem to work. Were you able to resolve the issue. If yes then please let me know the fix.
    Regards
