VS2015 CTP - installed but wont start

Hi,
I have installed this (on win10 64bit) and when I first started it, it was last seen saying 'building MEF graph' and then it existed.
It now just flashes up a brief screen before existing.
I have reinstalled/repaired but it still follows this sequence.
Any ideas/help appreciated!
Thanks
nick

  • Itunes installed but wont start-pleaseee help!

So i just bought an iphone yesterday. I havent installed itunes on my laptop until last night. I installed it fine, but then once i try to run it from my desktop icon it tells me that "itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. we're sorry for the inconvenience." it asks if i want to "send error report" or "dont send".
i tried a bunch of methods but nothing seems to work and I really want to sync my iphone to my laptop
    any suggestions?

Provoke another of those messages, and click the "click here" link.
What ModName and ModVer show up for the error in the box that comes up?
If you don't see a Modname and a Modver showing up in there, what type of error does the box say you're getting? (For example, Appcrash, BEX, InPageError?)

  • After Effects just bounces in the dock but wont start

    Hi all,
Just installed CS4 production studio under Snow Leopard.  All works well and updated using the Adobe Updater.  All apps are fine except AE which just bounces in the dock a few times and then stops.  I read that this could be because Rosetta was not installed.  I installed Rosetta from the Snow Leopard DVD and still nothing.  Have restarted 3 times just in case (I also read that several restarts may be required to get it to work), but still nothing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards
    Dave

OK... Now I feel like Scott of the Antartic writing in his journal before the inevitable... I am writing this purely to help anyone else with the same issue to resolve it without the pain that I am still experiencing.  Hopefully the last entry will read "all solved" and not "I am about to pop outside... I may be some time..."
After using CS2 for the bulk of my work I thought I'd try and get this solved once and for all, especially as we have a DVCPROHD project coming up and need CS4 to do it.
OK... The so now I have the suite running, except Premiere is running under at trial without the presets and the updates fail when installing.  Contacted support this week, they wont re-open the original case because it has been over a month.  Fair enough, new case.
The adobe guy takes control of my machine, deactivates it, then from Finder deletes lots of folders.  He then asks me to re-install the products.  I do this (2 hours later) and run Premiere and it appears to work with presets.  I look a bit closer and notice that under the help menu of Premiere Register, Deactivate and Updates are all greyed out.  This is not the case in the other products of the suite.  OK, so not a major deal but does imply something is not installed right.  I run the Adobe Updater, Premiere updates, but AE, PS and several updates fail.
Call back to support.  This time the Adobe guy takes control of my machine suggests I deactivate the suite, run the un-install and then download and run the CS3 Clean script and re-install.  I do all this.  Another 2 hours later feeding discs into the machine... and... Premiere looks fine, presets all there... but wait for it... AFTER EFFECTS JUST BOUNCES IN THE DOCK BUT WONT START.
3rd call back to support and ask for the issue to be escalated.  This is difficult and I have to cause a fuss to realise that this problem is the same one that has been hanging around for months and that I am not prepared to spend more hours removing every trace of Adobe from my machine and re-installing - this doesn't work.  The support technician asks me to delete a hidden folder that has all the Adobe patches in it, manually download the AE 9.0.2 update and install it.   It installs but AE wont start.  I explain that I've had enough and want the problem escalated.
I finally get a call back from a 2nd level engineer this morning.  After explaining the that AE wont start and then answering the question "why is this a problem for you!" we do some quick troubleshooting.  This time I have to pull out the network cable, turn off Airport, create a new user account, log on to it and then see if AE runs.  Which it does.  Within seconds we get launched into the pre-determined script, "if it runs under another user account then there is nothing wrong with the applications and I should call Apple".  After being patronised for a further 5 mins I had to PROVE to the guy that it was also possible that the fault was Adobes.  I also know the moment I phone Apple, the response will be "Call Adobe".
The only example I could give him at the time was to image a piece of software I had written that allocated memory based on the screen resolution (this is a user preference) and if my code was badly written and crashed when encountering a screen resolution bigger than my code was expecting.  OK, is that Apple's fault, no it is my code.  Will it run under one user and not another, yes it will.  There are a million other posibilities.  Some I agree could be Apple's, but equally some could be Adobes and the big fat fob off as soon as you can is terrible.
I have also since realised since leaving this call with the technician, that:
    1) This is a brand new iMac and the Adobe Suite was the 1st piece of 3rd party software installed on it.
    2) The iMac is for video editing and nothing else.
    3) This was working without presets before the Adobe guys deleted all these files and asked me to re-install.  It is more likely that they have deleted something they should not have rather than the a bug in the OS.  A bug in the OS is still possible but I suspect the problem is with a rogue bit of installation code from Adobe.
Finally incase anyone from Adobe is reading this:
I have paid thousands of pounds for this software.
I have been unable to use it for months.
A problem like this should be gold dust for you.  Here is the chance to get to the bottom of an issue that several people are having, understand the mechanics of what is going wrong.  Write a KB article as well as a patch and this would save the time/money and effort of an awful lot of people (including your own).
As a short thought experiment I would like everyone at Adobe to image the following:
You pay £1,000 of your own money for a tool to do your work on the promise that you can make this money back in productivity gains, new business, etc.
The tool you use every day to make a living won't work.  For the benefit of the experiment, imagine this is your email client, web browser or case management tool.
You have no IT group to replace your machine or to come and solve it.
You can't tell your customers that your software is down and you have to keep doing your job.
You have to spend an additional 3 days in your own time, working late or weekends to try and fix the software yourself.
You to keep downloading a Gigabyte of data 3 or four times and you have to pay for downloads.  Currently you are running up a bill of over £100 in downloads and phone calls.
You don't get paid the overtime and your customers start complaining you are late with your work.
You lose customers... you eventually get fired because you have lost too many of them.
...This is what it feels like for a small creative business to not be able to install the software they bought.

Running the diagnostics at http://www.hp.com/go/tools may help resolve the issue.
If not then check the USB cable between the computer and printer and reseat it if necessary.

  • Have installed but wont work, any ideas?

Have Windows Vista and Internet Explorer 9, the 32 bit version. Have installed Flash Player, uninstall, restarted my laptop and installed again but can't get it to work. It shows up as being installed  but when ever I try to view anything that uses Flash Player I'm prompted to install it.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the latest flash player about four times, checked all the solutions I could find and set up IE as indicated on this thread, have been informed by adobe that flash player is installed and whenever I go to a website that would use it, it doesn't work.  I am usually informed I should install it.
The check regarding the spinning red symbol did not give me the required picture (not sure what I should have seen but nothing was spinning)
The files in the suggested macromed file are:
    Flash10u.ocx
    FlashInstall
    FlashUtil10u.activeX.dll
    FlashUtil10u.activeX
    Install
    Any other suggestions?

  • Acrobat 10.1.1.33 crashes after a few weeks from install and wont start up without re-install

We have Adobe CS6 installed at work and every couple of weeks Acrobat just crashes silently and then refuses to load, even when opened via short cut, windows context menu, etc. Repairing the install doesn't fix this issue and instead I have to completely uninstall CS6 and reinstall to get Acrobat to work again for a few more weeks until it repeats. I am not the only one in the office having this issue.
I had a look into windows application logs and found this entry logged for the exact time acrobat silently crashed:
Faulting application name: Acrobat.exe, version: 10.1.1.33, time stamp: 0x4e64e9d5
Faulting module name: Acrobat.dll, version: 10.1.1.33, time stamp: 0x4e64fa0a
    Exception code: 0xc0000005
    Fault offset: 0x00020bd8
    Faulting process id: 0x225c
    Faulting application start time: 0x01cf2351bc3ef267
    Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\Acrobat\Acrobat.exe
    Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\Acrobat\Acrobat.dll
    Report Id: 49b20389-8f45-11e3-b30b-90b11c5f8db5
The computer was fresh out the box running windows 7 64bit and has nothing other than CS6 installed. While Acrobat wont work at all, Photoshop and other CS6 applications installed work fine.
    Anyone know of a fix?

Have you tried the updates? AA X is at 10.1.9. At least you have 10.1, that was the minimum required for 64-bit systems. When it fails, was there something else that was installed or updated just before the crash? Was there any error code given when the failure occurred. I see that you got the log entry and that is good, but not very useful to users like us -- only maybe to Adobe staff.
What where you doing in Acrobat when the failure occurred? Does Distiller still open? Can you print to a PDF? Just trying to home in on what might be the issue.
If you proceed with a reinstall (since you can't repair), do the following steps: Uninstall, run http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html, remove any left overs of the Acrobat folder, reboot, and reinstall. After the install, do the updates to 10.1.9. I would then suggest backing up the drive or at least the registry and Adobe folder in Program Files (X86). With the latter, you might be able to get things back. At least with the Acrobat folder you can see if it is related to any files there having problems or something in the registry. There are a few files in the system32 (or 64?) folder also.
You might also try http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/search/index.cfm?cat=support&loc=en_us to see if there are specific Adobe recommendations about your problem. However, specifics are needed and it is hard for me to provide an inquiry based on what you have given, though it may be all you can easily tell us.

  • CS3 programs installed but wont open.

Most of my cs3 programs wont open. I am running Windows Vista and have the Adobe CS3 master collection.
It appears as though Bridge is the only one that will open. Photoshop for example, will open the grey background with "file" "tools" etc. but will not go any further.
I have a new HP Pavilion dv5 with 2Ghz core duo, and 2GB ram.
    Any help will be appreciated.

Help me too!!! I'm having exactly the same problem!!!
I had CS3 installed on my old computer running XP and everything worked fine. Then the motherboard (or something) on that computer fried so I bought a new one that has Vista Home Premium.
I've tried everything I can think of. I loaded it, the repaired it, then uninstalled it and reinstalled it in the "Program Files" directory (before it had been loaded in the "Program Files (x86)" directory) and repaired it in that directory.
I've tried opening every one of the programs, all except Photoshop end up doing nothing. When I look under Task Manager, there is nothing going on the "Applications" tab. But under the "Processes" tab, I see the exe file is loaded and going.
The main program I'm trying to use is AfterEffects - I tried to open it earlier so right now in "Processes" the pogram "AfterFX.exe *32" is loading and running but it's not working!!
It's driving me NUTS! I really have ton of work to do and I'm wayyy behind as it is with the stupid computer croaking. Now I can't even try to catch up because I can't open the program!

  • 11g1 installed but error starting/installing emca

I've seen no instruction in the docs that says to create any environment variable like
ORACLE_HOME. In one of the messages it syas that the script created ORACLE_HOME but
ORACLE_HOME does not appear in the environment. YES I have rebooted!
The path was augmented by the oracle BIN directory during the initial install.
BTW I did add ORACLE_HOSTNAME to the environment. I specified that it be my computer name.
Question is : what do I do to fix this error???
I did as standard an install as I could but...
    (1) installed 11g1 on Win XP Pro SP3.
    (2) 11g1 database is working through

  • New memory card installed but getting 'Start up disc full' message?

Running on an old Power Mac G4, 256 MB, I have recently got a new ipod and began filling my itunes when I get a 'start up disc full' message. I've successfully installed another identical 256 MB memory card which the computer is recognizing (now showing 512 MBs of memory) but after downloading another 1 or 2 CDs I'm back to 'start up disc full'. I know I have the correct memory card for my G4 but it isn't allowing me more memory. Any suggestions? Do I have to change something that isn't in my owners manual?

    Hi-
    Welcome to Discussions!
You need more hard drive space. Although replacing the internal with another, larger drive is an option, it is easy to just add another drive. The G4, any model, can use up to 4 internal drives.
Some have size limits, so you need to tell us your G4 model. Use the "About this Mac" in the Apple menu on your desktop, and the following to ID your model:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58418
Another option is to buy an external firewire hard drive, so you can backup, and store files on it, freeing up space on your strtup drive. You really should have an external, anyways, so you have a backup, and don't lose any data if there is a problem.
Adding a hard drive is relatively easy. You can find Do It Yourself guides in the following:

  • Downloaded itune correctly but wont start or is missing!!!

I downloaded itune correctly, but when the finish screen popped up i didnt get the start iturn and the folder is missing n i had also clicked to add desktop icon for it. I follow every step. I downloaded it in adminitration n i even upgraded quicktime from apple.com. Can anyone tell what i did wrong plz?

Can we do one thing at a time ?
You downloaded the install, security software disabled, and saved it to disk?
    Pick up from there.
We have to back track to find the answer so some history/specs about your computer would help.

  • DiskWarrior and DataRescue II 'repaired' and recovered but wont start

I've managed to recover and save my important documents (photos) using both utilities onto my second drive but by G5 will not startup - hangs on the grey screen with apple logo and spinning cicle with tick marks.
Previously ran disk utility (once HD directory rebuilt with Disk warrior) and everything checked out okay except for the verify/repair disk permissions; errors including "lost connection with disk management tool" and having to quit, etc.
Only response I could get was when running in verbose mode (command-V) whereby I could see an error trying to locate files in system/library......./CorePreferences as the last response from the computer before the fan kicks into turbine mode.
I guess the simple thing would be to erase everything, zero everything out and re-install a new OS; I also bought a new HD thinking my old one may have hardware issues that could lead to more errors in the future.
My plan was to get 10.3 running on the repaired HD, update to 10.4 while keeping my applications (I don't want to re-install all of them again) and my old emails from entourage, and see if my HD remains stable....if not, then replace it with the new HD.
I'm hoping someone could suggest a fix as Disk Warrior seems to have gotten me past the question mark and broken folder icon.
thanks in advance for any suggestions.
    Dave.

    Okay, here's an update:
tried resetting PRAM (hit and held the command-option-P-R keys upon turning machine on) and only got one chime before the screen went to the gray/apple/spinning gear mode. Kept holding the keys until the fan started to kick in after about 3 minutes.
Before giving up all hope and 'trashing' the drive (i.e. rebuilding it), I'm considering the following:
    1. put new os on new hard drive - make this boot drive.
    2. move the current HD that won't startup to second bay.
    3. startup with new drive and then access faulty drive in second bay.
    4. remove the iTunes files causing the issues in permissions repair.
    5. move old drive back into first bay and attempt repair again.
this may be a futile exercise but I'm just curious if this drive (supposedly fixed with DW and files saved using data rescue) can be resurrected; I ran DW twice and everytime it says that the disk is now available on the desktop with an 'optimized directory'
I'm also curious how my drive could have ended up in this mess after running a straight 2 years without an issue...sure hope this doesn't happen again next time.
Thanks again and keep the suggestions coming...I'm not giving up yet.
    Dave.
