VSF vs VSFB

Hi All,
I have a question regarding requirement types VSF and VSFB.
I understand VSFB is used for strategy 70 and the PIR of this type get reduced at component level when there is a dependent requirement from a higher level component. However, I am able to achieve the same reduction using strategy 40 and requirement type VSF by changing the consumption indicator in MD62 Items tab during PIR creation. So what are the benefits of using VSFB over VSF?
Also requirement classes 101 and 105 are assigned to VSF and VSFB respectively but there doesnt seem to be any difference between the two classes. Is that correct or am I missing something?
Regards,
Jibitesh

Thanks a lot. That explains a lot of things.
So just to confirm, is consumption indicator the only difference between the two requirement types VSF and VSFB? Would it be possible to use VSF for planning at assembly level just by changing the consumption indicator?

  • Difference Between VSF and VSFB in MD04

    Hello All
when I am doing MRP run through MD01 system will pick some of the material for requisition but some material req. are missing.when I am doing MD04 for stock requirement system shows MRP Element Data with VSF and VSFB.
i want to know the difference between these two.

    Dear Kumar,
    1) if Strategy is 40 it should be VSF, but when we give VSFB in MD61 then system gives a Mssg as errors occured ( but this Mssg will be in Green Colour & people ignore it by thinking notthinh will happn)
    2) But when you run MRP with VSFB, system will not creat Plan orders but still it exists in MD04 (PIR VSFB type)
    3) So all i can suggest is in MD61, Goto User parameters & give VSF in Requirment type Field & save with other Required Parameters
    4) then in SHD0, make this field as out put only
    5) Now client will have no option to change this field & Results will be Correct

  • Requirements date for VSF "backdating" itself in two months

Please help me understand this peculiar system behavior.
MD04 routinely displays the plant/materialu2019s planned independent requirement as a u201CVSFu201D having a requirements date of the first work-day of the period.  What I cannot explain is why the October 2012 VSF has a requirements date of September 21, 2012. Why would the date not be October 1, 2012? The factory calendar assigned to the plant has October 1, 2012 as a work-day.
Same situation for December 2012. The VSF for December has a requirements date of November 21, 2012.
For the rest of 2012, and for the first three months of 2013, the VSF elements are dated on the first work-day of the month. What would cause the requirements to fall a week and a half early for October and December 2012?
I should add that this peculiarity is not limited to one material. It happens over many materials and across all plants. The common thread among the materials is that we plan them into info structure S608 and then disaggregate among the active warehouses / shipping points.
By the way, I am not very fluent in MRP, so please do not assume that I have ruled out something obvious.

Well, we figured it out.  The problem was the fiscal year variant.
A few years ago, we were a nine-to-five, Monday-thru Friday kind of company.  As such, the accounting periods were carefully managed so that a period never ended over a weekend or on a holiday.  Nowadays, we are a 24-7 operation, and accounting periods correspond to calendar months.
But when we changed over the fiscal year variant, it was only set up thru 2011.  2012 still had the old period strategy.
On the MRP3 tab of the material master record, material/plants are assigned the period indicator u201CPu201D, Period according to fiscal year variant.  We forecast by periods in S608.
MRP was just doing its thing and determining requirements according to our accounting periods and setting the requirements date accordingly.
Solution:  correct the fiscal year variant out for a few more years.  Transport, reload the forecast data, transfer to demand management, and run MRP.
All is well in the stock/requirements list.

  • Control of consumption for 2 different req.type of VSF MTS.

    Hi All,
I have an Issue, were I need to use strategy 40 MTS with consumption. The request is to use 2 different reuirments types that will be used by 2 types of sale orders. 1 Sale order with req.type A will consume PIR of req.type A, and the second sale order with req.Type B will consume PIR with req.type B. All must be working as VSF strategy 40.
Is it possible to do this setting. If it is, I would like to know your advice on the setting I need to Do.
    Thank you,

    Hi Boaz,
I don't think that you can do it and still keep 40 as the sole planning strategy.
Instead you could do one of the two:
    1. Customize a new requirement type (ZVSF, basically identical to VSF) and a new planning strategy (Z4) with this requirement type.
Then create a planning strategy group that will have 40 as main and Z4 as secondary, and link it to the materials.
Then create PIRs for each requirement type separately.
Now all you need is to make the proper settings in SD so each type of order generates the correct requirement type. If it can't be done automatically, then it needs to be operated manually, e.g. changing the item category (may be a problem).
    2. Use the product allocation functionality and ATP in the order against product allocation.

    Mario

  • How to enable VSF cosumed with Individual purchase order(TAB)

    Hi, SAP guru.
I want VSF consumed with individual purchase order (TAB).
Could you give me the instrunction please?

    I explain here in detail.
(In material master, srgategy group is '40'.)
When you create a sales order with item category 'TAN', this sales order consume 'VSF'.
and you change this item category to 'TAB', the consumption or allocation disappear.
I want this TAB to be kept consumed with VSF.
Could you give me the possibility and the instruction.
    For example;
    1. Intial
                                        Requirement
          Nov-1st    VSF      100
    2. When you create SO with TAN (10 pcs), SO consumes 10 of VSF.
                                        Requirement
          Nov-1st    VSF      90
          Nov-1st    SO        10
    3. And you change item caetgory to 'TAB',  VSF is back to 100.
                                        Requirement
          Nov-1st    VSF      100
    --- Cstock    SO (TAB)
          Nov-1st    PReq       10
    What I did
Requirement class '050' and 'KEB'    (OVZG)
VPZUO  is '1'  (I think sap standard)
=> It suppose that SO cousumes VSF, as VPZUO is same as ZUVKZ of PIR.
          Schedule line category 'CB'      (OVZ8)
Check 'Availability check for sales' (ATPPR) and  'Transfer of requirements' (BEDSD)
=>  SO is displayed in MD04, but not consume VSF.
3'. And you change item caetgory to 'TAB',  VSF is back to 100. SO doesn't consume it.
                                        Requirement
          Nov-1st    VSF      100
    --- Cstock    SO (TAB)
          Nov-1st   SO           10
          Nov-1st    PReq       10

  • Why does old sale order (The deliver date before current date) show VSF (independent requirement) in MD04?

    Dear All,
I face one issue, the old sales order (the delivery date before current date) has became VSF (independent requirement) in MD04, could someone let me know why and how to fix it?
Take 01.09.2014 as example, we have one 50PC's sales order with delivery date as 25.08.2014, in MD04, the system will show two independent requirements, one is 50PC's customer order and another is 50PC's VSF.
We are looking forward to your kind help and answer, thanks in advance!
    Best Regards,
    Gavin

    Hi Gavin
If I understood the issue correctly, system is showing both the sales order and the PIR on the same date, right?
If this is the case, it's probably a PIR consumption issue. Take a look on the following note, especially question 10:

  • Having both VSF and VSEB

Having both VSF and VSEB for the same material in MD04.... Is it possible?
    Material is
    - an configurable option of a final product with make to order strategy (tied to sales order).
    - Set as E50 (phantom item with its own bom/routing)
    - Planning strategy grp 59 Planning at phantom assembly level
    - It is also be sold separately from the final product to any customer and not tied to sales order.
    Is this the correct setting?

    Dear
If ur Using Strategy 59 Reqmts type for indep.reqmts VSEB Planning; phantom assemblies that is correct and u cant change to VSF where in u can Change to KEK why because as ur using config material we have to check in as u have mentioned make to order strategy (tied to sales order) SPRO>>>Production>>>Production Planning >>>>Planning Strategy >>>Define Strategy
there U can See the 59     Planning at phantom assembly level     VSEB Click on the details U ll get all the information

Hi..i hve one material with strategy 40.(Planning with assembly). Now i had created independent requirenement with MD61. now in MD04 i m getting this requirenment with requirenment type LSF.
But it should be VSF, as strtegy is 40.
where i went wrong and i want ind req with VSF.
i had heck strategy in SPRO , it is VSF & KSV which is standeared.
please let me know how requirenment type will be VSF  for req.

    Dear,

  • Requirement Types for Independent Requirements: LSF, VSF, VSE

    Hi,
    (1) Can anyone explain the following requirement types in layman's terms:
    LSF (Make-to-stock production)
    VSF (Planning with final assembly)
    VSE (Planning without final assembly)
    (2) Upon transfer to demand management, how to determine which Requirement Type to use?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Requirement type determines the following points:
    1. Consumption of Independent req & customer req.
    2. How warehouse stock taken into account.
    3. Make to order or Make to stock.
    4. Planned order can be released or not.
Requirement class is assigned with requirement type.
PIR requirement type & customer requirement type both linked with Strategy group.
Ex: For strategy 10, PIR req type is LSF & Customer req type is KSL.
So transfer to demand management in the material master if strategy 10 is assigned, system will take req type as LSF.
Same as if strategy 40, req type VSF
For strategy 50, req type VSE.

  • VSF and planned orders same day

    Hello,
When running MD04, forecast (VSF) and planned orders are landing on the same day. This is causing confusion for the users.  Is there a setting that's causing this to happen? We are using checking rule PP. Should we be using A instead?  The planned order should actually be showing up before the forecast because we don't want the inventory to show negative from the forecast.   Any  help will be appreciated.
    Thank you.
    MZ

    Hi MZ
On the standard MRP process, the planned order basic finish date will generally match the requirement date.
Check this document which explains the scheduling in more detail:

  • VSF and LSF

We use strategy group 40, when we check the data in MD04 in a week, its showing LSF for some days and when there is extra requirements, its showing VSF.  What could be reason and how to resolve it.
    Any input is appreciated.
    thx
    Jeff

    Hi Jslader
What  Tao is putting across is, go to SU3 tcode enter user login id of the planner & in the parameters tab, check the value maintained for BDA.
Also in MD04 can you let us know what you find in the MRP segment, does it read IndReq?

  • VSF in MD04

I can't understand where the qty for VSF comes from.
At first, I think that it comes from my forecast.
I have my forecast entered in MC94
    10.2008 15
    11.2008 15
    12.2008 20
    01.2009 25
However, when I run MD04, the qty for VSF
    10.2008 15
    11.2008 15
    12.2008 15
    01.2009 20
I have tried to execute MRP by material (MD03), it only generates some plan orders, the qty for VSF remains the same.
Is there any process that I have missed in order to synchronize?
Points will be awarded for useful answers. Thanks.

    Hi,
VSF is coming out of Demand Management. These values were most likely entered manually in MD61 planning strategy.Check requirement in MD62.
VSF requirements are independent requirements. Typically, these independent requirements are the result of making a forecast for a product. Normally you would only forecast future sales.
The VSF requirement type is used because of the planning strategy 40 in the material master, mrp3. This is a make to stock strategy with sales orders consuming the independent requirements.
    Hope clear to you.

  • Can i delete the Bin files or VSF file? in my hyper V physical machine?

    Jags

    Hi,
    I agree with Brian,
    BIN files:
This file contains the memory of a virtual machine or snapshot that is in a saved state.
    VSV files
This file contains the saved state from the devices associated with the virtual machine.
So if you don’t have the special reason, please don’t delete them.
