Chain FORWARD (policy ACCEPT)

Chain OUTPUT (policy ACCEPT)

Is something wrong here?
I have the same problem with a play ftp server / internet connection sharing router
The problem is nobody from outside can connect and I think iptables does a good job:
iptables -L
Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT)
target prot opt source destination
ACCEPT all -- anywhere anywhere
ACCEPT all -- anywhere anywhere
REJECT udp -- anywhere anywhere udp dpt:bootps reject-with icmp-port-unreachable
REJECT udp -- anywhere anywhere udp dpt:domain reject-with icmp-port-unreachable
ACCEPT tcp -- anywhere anywhere tcp dpt:ssh
DROP tcp -- anywhere anywhere tcp dpts:0:1023
DROP udp -- anywhere anywhere udp dpts:0:1023
Chain FORWARD (policy DROP)
target prot opt source destination
DROP all -- anywhere 192.168.0.0/16
ACCEPT all -- 192.168.0.0/16 anywhere
ACCEPT all -- anywhere 192.168.0.0/16
Chain OUTPUT (policy ACCEPT)
target prot opt source destination
how do i open port 20 and 21?
I tryed what I found on the net:
iptables -t filter -A OUTPUT -p tcp –dport 20:21 -j ACCEPT
Bad argument `–dport'
Try `iptables -h' or 'iptables --help' for more information.
any ideeas would be great.
LATER: solution found
iptables -I INPUT -p tcp --dport 21 -j ACCEPT
iptables -I INPUT -p udp --dport 20 -j ACCEPT

I've had a massive headache trying to get this to work. My homeserver runs a BitTorrent tracker I use locally and I decided to allow external connections. For testing, I turned off the firewall on my computer & my routor then opened port 8080. No luck. I turned on DMZ and pointed it towards my server. No luck. Everything works completely fine locally its just the routor isn't allowing connections through and now I don't know what else to try.
Application Sharing - Yes all setup (Custom application: TCP Port 8080)
UPnP - OFF
Firewall - Disabled
I have a BT HomeHub 2.0 Running 8.1.H.J Type A (26/06/2010)You need to configure your home router to forward port xxyxx on the internet side to port yyyyy on home computer Z.
Most home routers allow you to do this.
How you do this depends on which home router you have. You could do a Google search with your router name, model, and the words "Port Forward". That should most likely turn up instructions from someone else that has been through this before with your model router. -
HI my network connections is working fine but it doesnt allow me to update software or access apple store. Any suggestions?
Then it simply was NOT Brand New. Doesn't matter what the box looked like when you got it or if you went through the setup pages when you first turned it on. If it is registered to some other Apple ID then someone else had originally registered it and locked it to there ID.
Type in the serial number of the system into this page.
https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do
And see when it was originally registered.
Then send it back to Amazon as Used.

So I bought a brand new macbook from Amazon, and it came factory sealed (Not my first time buying a macbook, last one I bought was from Apple directly) but after I got this, I put in my apple I.D. and it told me there were updates available. I told it to go ahead and update, and it updated about half of the list, but the essential stuff (pages, notes, etc) it says "This software was installed using another Apple I.D. Please logon with that I.D. to install the software." I'm a bit baffled by this as it is a brand new mac and so I don't know why anyone else's I.D. would be logged into this mac. I'm not really worried about it though, as I don't really need to update my pages, etc, as I like what I have, but I'd love for this stupid "updates availble" popup to stop popping up every freaking day!!!
Anyone have any suggestions on finding out how to either gain access to update, or get rid of that "other" i.d. that is somehow associated with my brand new macbook?
I'm running OSX 10.9 if that is of any consequence. -

You may have installed the "Genieo" or "InstallMac" ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it.
Back up all data before making any changes.
Besides the files listed in the linked support article, you may also need to remove this file in the same way:
~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.completer.ltvbit.plist
If there are other items with a name that includes "Genieo" or "genieo" alongside any of those you find, remove them as well.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those.
After removing the malware, remember to reset your home page in all the web browsers affected, if it was changed.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, then you may have one of the other kinds of adware covered by the support article. Follow the rest of the instructions in the article.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. Chances are you got it from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
if it's not already checked. -
Why doesnt my phone connect to itunes anymore?
my phone doesnt allow me to connect to itunes and its been really glitchy
What version of iTunes?
What computer OS?
Is the iPhone iOS up to date? iOS 8 is not the current iOS, iOS 8.1.2 is.
What troubleshooting have you tried to fix the problem?
What do you mean "It didn't allow me to do anything". What didn't allow you?
What logged you out. The iPhone will not log you out if you do not enter the correct password, but it will disable the device if you have entered the wrong password too many times.
This support document addresses the forgotten password and disabled device. Forgot passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support

Allow external iframes local IP
I am at the beginning of migrating from on-site SharePoint to SharePoint Online.
Trying to get a page viewer to display an HTML/PHP page that is hosted locally. I understand that this will cause problems when viewing the pages when off-site, but that is ok for the requirements.
Is it possible to set Site Settings > Site
Collection Administration > HTML
Field Security > Allow
External iFrames to accept content from internal servers, local IP (eg 192.168.1.*)?
If so, what "domain" is needed in the above settings (or otherwise) to allow these pages to display?
The URL pointing to the local page works in web browsers fine, just doesn't display on SharePoint Online.
Thanks,
LachyHello
Nat provides ip.translation but its doesnt give.you any real security to.the server you still.need.to prohibit access via either ios fw features( cbac zbfw,extended acls etc) or via a designated fwl
To answer your question
Yes you can
You can position it in a dmz with a.public ip address and use port forwarding/filtering etc to.open up specifc ports to the server

Untrusted apps are not allowed to connect to or launch Window Server before login.
I'm getting this with the Citrix Receiver uninstaller from the command line... but not on all Mountain Lion 10.8.5 systems. Googling turns up a lot of ideas about a problem with the app or in pre/post-flight scripts, but since it works on some, I wonder. What is the mechanism that generates this error? I'm guessing there's some setting or condition that exists on one system that isn't true on the other. How do I find out?

Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger and Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X. -
HT3231 Migration assistant doesnt see external hard drive
Mac OS 10.7.5 Intel 2 gHx Core 2 Duo. Just replaced a crashed hard drive. Migration assistnat doesnt see external hard drive, although it is on desktop and working fine. Connected by USB. I have a backup on the external drive. Too large to place on internal hard drive. So frustrating! I looked at forums online, no help. Any ideas?
1. Definitely 10.7.5
2. I'm not convinced it is a TM drive. It has been used as such, but I am not sure of its current status. Of note, Time machine is currently using it, but I get the sense that it only uses part of the drive. The file I want to use is in a seperate directory of the external hard drive than backups.backupdb, where Time machine is currently writing. The file I want to use is called "Untitled - 2012.01.16-10.17.00.766.FullBackup" and the file type is package. Of note, Time machine let's me have the option to restore the stuff it has been writing for the last few days. Migration assistant, however, is not so cooperative.
3. I have been opening migration assistant, putting in password, choosing "from a Time machine backup or other disk", and then it shows only "Mac OS" as an option under "select your system".

RDS - External connections only for those with SSL Certifcate - how to accomplish that?
Hi,
we have a lot of partners for sales purposes and they need connect to our servers due to ERP access and then input 'sales order' and etc; there is a way to only accept connections from Computers/Tablets with enabled/installed an specific SSL?
If so, should we buy SSL from a valid external C.A for the server and clients? or just for Clients? or just for the server?

tks,
Renato PHi,
If you are looking to connect to a particular PC on your home network from outside then follow the steps
There are six steps you'll need to follow to set this up. Each one is explained in detail below.
Allow remote connections to the computer you want to access.
Make sure Remote Desktop is able to communicate through your firewall.
Find the IP address of the computer on your home network that you want to connect to.
Open your router's configuration screen and forward TCP port 3389 to the destination computer's IP address.
Find your router's public IP address so that Remote Desktop can find it on the Internet.
Open Remote Desktop Connection and connect.(Type in your public IP + the forwarded port to acces the desired PC- public IP : port )
If you have already done this and all you want is to decide who access it then give user permission in
Remote Desktop Users Group.
Apart using SSL cert you can limit the user access using your firewall/router.
SSL certificate is required for your server alone. -

The system cannot find the file specified
I have tried from so many forms. This is so frustrating. Thank for everyone/anyone who wants to help. So this is what happened: I had to uninstall my previous sqlserver 2012(which worked great) for some reason, and I uninstalled everything from that download.
Then I installed the trial edition of sql server 2012 (64 Bit) and It wouldn't connect to the database. (Error mentioned above.) My local DB is COWBOYS. (COWBOYS is also my computer name.) After this, I have tried downloading sqlexpress and sqlserver 64bit
many times and cannot connect to my local DB.
How do I connect to my Local DB?
Also, I think this might help: (When I run sqlserve.exe, which I was able to find in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\LocalDB\Binn, I get an error: Your SQL server installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with(Error getting
instance ID from name). Please uninstall then re-run setup to correct this problem.
I would happily re install it, if it wasn't my 20th time.
I don't have any remote connections, I don't use username/password, only window authentication. I work mostly on visual studio, but without able to store /retrieve data, I don't know how to survive.
May be the solution is very simple, but I am too frustrated.
Some of the things I have tried:
From a command prompt, enter one of the following commands:
net start "SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER)" OR
net start "SQL Server Agent(instancename)"(for instance)
on my sql configuration, I cannot start anything because there is nothing there to start. I can post more details, if that would help. Also, some more details about the error:

Any one that can help me, I will be greatful. Thank you so much. p.s. please ask me anything if you have any questions.It sounds like there are a couple things going on here. First check if you have a successful install of SQL Server, then we'll figure out the connection issues.
Can you launch SQL Server Configuration Manager and check for SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) if default instance or SQL Server (other name) if you've configured your instance as a named instance. Once you find this, make sure the service is started.
If not started, try to start it and see if it throws an error. If you get an error, post the error message your hitting. If the service starts, you can then launch SSMS and try to connect. If you have a default instance, you can use the machine
name in the connection dialog. Ex: "COWBOYS" where Cowboys is the machine name. However, if you named the SQL Server instance during install, you'll need to connect using the machine\instance format. Ex: COWBOYS\Romo (where Romo
is the instance name you set during install).
You can also look at the summary.txt file in the SQL Server setup error logs to see what happened on the most recent install. Past install history is archived in the log folder if you need to dig those up to help troubleshoot, but the most
recent one may help get to the bottom of it if there is an issue with setup detecting a prior instance that needs to be repaired.

External Connection Pool - No Available Connections
I am using Toplink 9.0.4 in an application deployed on WebLogic 7. Toplink is configured to use an external connection pool.
Under heavy load we sometimes exhaust the connection pool. When this occurs we start to get failures when trying to acquire connections.
It appears that when Toplink tries to obtain a connection from the pool and none are available the attempt immediately fails with an exception. What we would prefer to happen is for the thread to block and wait for a connection to become available.
Do you know of any way to produce this behavior? Is there a way to configure Toplink so this occurs?
Alternatively is there a practical way to produce this behavior by implementing logic in a ServerSession exception handler? We have implemented an exception handler that handles dropped and stale database connections, but I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place to handle a failure retrieving a connection from the external pool.
Any suggestions are appreciated.Well I have tried but I am unable to write an effective exception handler that can recover from an exception retrieving a connection from an external pool. I wrote the following handler and attached it to the ServerSession.
public Object handleException(RuntimeException exception) throws DatabaseException{
if(exception instanceof DatabaseException){
DatabaseException dbex = (DatabaseException)exception;
String exceptionMessage = dbex.getMessage();
if(exceptionMessage != null && exceptionMessage.indexOf("No available connections in pool") >= 0){
try{
Thread.sleep(5000);
}catch(InterruptedException e){}
oracle.toplink.publicinterface.Session session = null;
session = serverSession.acquireClientSession();
dbex.setSession(session);
if(session != null){
DatabaseQuery query = dbex.getQuery();
if(query != null){
return session.executeQuery(query);
}else{
return null;
throw exception;
}else{
throw exception;
}else{
throw exception;
It works sometimes but other times I get strange errors when executing the query. I know the mappings are good, the queries succeed under normal circumstances. The following error is commmon:
Exception Description: The parameter name [UNIQUE_ID] in the query's selection criteria does not match any parameter name defined in the query.
The other problem I have is the recursive nature of the exception handling. If calling ServerSession.acquireClientSession() in the exception handler causes an exception, I end up in another exception handler. It's not clear which instance should execute and return the query in this case.
Any suggestions or examples of exception handlers for this situation are appreciated. -
Doubts concerning External Connection Pool
A few questions:
1. How can I set up an external connection pool with toplink? or in another words, assuming that I have successfully configured a connection pool (and a datasource) on my weblogic app-server, how do I configure Toplink to use the same?
2. I am trying to achieve the above (refer point 1), by defining my custom connector (by extending TOPLink.Public.Sessions.DefaultConnector). The custom connector provides connections using the dataSource.getConnection(). Now, the question is
- Where will the pooling happen in this case? i.e. Will Toplink use its own connection pool (populate its own connection pool with container managed data source), and issue connections (container managed) from there or will it make use of the container managed pooling (and ask for connections from the container managed pool, as and when required)? The subtle difference being, weblogic will not be able to validate a connection before issue in the former case.
3. This question is similar to point 2, but talks in terms of a practical example. Assuming that if I am using the custom connector successfully in my code, then if I pull out the network cord and reconnect again, I expect the container to provide me with a valid connection (as weblogic can be configured to perform a validity check on a connection before issuing). I am getting a 'connection reset by peer' error in my application (indicating that either the container fails to provide a valid connection, or toplink does not use the container managed pool effectively). I guess, Toplink still uses its own pool but this time it is pooling container managed dataSources. Since the connections are issued from Toplink and not container, here is no validation/reconnection happening for the connection, before issue. Please comment if I am thinking in the right direction or not. If not, how you can explain the above failure?
4. My aim is to utilise the container's connection pool, and Toplink's ability to perform the rest of the things (including transactions). Is that possible?Vikas,
TopLink can easily be configured to use the external connection pool of an server. This can be accomplished with API but more commonly using the sessions.xml configuration file for the SessionManager. In the product we ship examples for WLS that make use of data sources configured in the server. The portion of the sessions.XML file in question is:
<login>
<user-name>weblogic</user-name>
<password>weblogic</password>
<datasource>java:comp/env/jdbc/ejbJTSDataSource</datasource>
<non-jts-datasource>java:comp/env/jdbc/ejbNonJTSDataSource</non-jts-datasource>
<uses-external-transaction-controller>true</uses-external-transaction-controller>
<uses-external-connection-pool>true</uses-external-connection-pool>
</login>
<external-transaction-controller-class>oracle.toplink.jts.wls.WebLogicJTSExternalTransactionController</external-transaction-controller-class>
This sets TopLink up with both data source access to the JTA and non-JTA connection pools. The full example also includes a domain where the data source is configured.
When TopLink is using the connection pool of the server (external connection pooling) it will not pool its own connections. TopLink will request a connection from the pool each time one is required and release it back when done. This leaves the server responsible for the number of connections available and also for supporting database re-connection.
