VSphere Integration Pack Exception (Orchestrator 2012 R2)

I'm having trouble getting Orchestrator to integrate with vSphere. I have entered the connection information and am attempting to add vSphere actions to my runbook, but when I attempt to add
any actions I get the following nondescript error in the Runbook designer:
Error
Details: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive.
Exception: IntegrationPackException
Target site: ServiceBase.Design
Stack trace: at
Microsoft.SystemCenter.Orchestrator.VIQIK.ServiceBase.Design(IActivityDesigner designer)

Hi,
Is the vSphere-Server reachable for the system running Runbook Designer with the connection configuration you entered in  Options / VMware vSphere (Server, SSL, Port)?

We are using System Center Orchestrator 2012 with the vSphere Integration Pack. For reference, we are running vSphere 5. All of the runbook activities are working except the "Get VM List" activity. Any time we attempt to open the properties page or set the

  • VMWare Integration Pack SOAP Problems when trying to Runbook Tester

    All,
I am hoping somebody out there can give me some help and hopefully a resolution to my problem.
For several weeks now, I have been successfully using the VMware Integration Pack in Orchestrator. However, as I tried to make my Runbook's more user friendly by replacing fields with variables I encountered a problem.
When I now try to run my Runbook via the Runbook Tester when I start to step through I get the following error when I either try to step through the Clone Windows VM or left click on the Icon. (Actually this error occurs for all Integration Pack Objects).
    ---- THE ERROR BELOW ----
    Details:
    Required parameter password is missing
while parsing call information for method Login at line 1, column 218
while parsing SOAP body at line 1, column 207
while parsing SOAP envelope at line 1, column 38

    Exception: IntegrationPackException Target site: ServiceBase.Design
    Stack trace at
    Microsoft.SystemCenter.Orchestrator.VIQIK.ServiceBase.Design(IActivityDesigner designer)
    ---- End Of Error--------------
So steps to resolve this issue so far.
1-  Remove and redeploy IP Pack
2 - Remove Orchestrator Database and Redeploy Database
    3 - Uninstall and re-install Orchestrator
    4 - Restart Servers
The problem is that when you actually look at the property pages in the Runbook Designer  it talks correctly to the VSphere Server, and you can alter them, but it still won't run.
The firewall is off, and the VI Client talks to the VCentre server.
And I have looked in the Runbook Tester logs but it doesn't seem to show any errors.
So can anybody shine a light on where to look for the problem or how to debug it.
    Cheers
    Alixx

    Hi Frank,
you should be able to use Variables and Published Data in the Integration Pack for VMWare vSphere.
If you use a Variable or Published Data in the connection setting you experience an error while designing the Runbook. Use here the Name (one Name) of the connection setting you specified for  VMWare vSphere.
Make sure, you use the up-to-date version of this IP, until today:

  • Integration Pack Connector settings wiped and replaced

    Greetings all,
I've just experienced a rather concerning issue and have hit a bit of a dead-end trying to identify the root cause.
We have Orchestrator 2012 R2 with several 3rd party integration packs from codeplex such as ones for Sharepoint, AD, Config Manager etc.
    Sharepoint IP - http://orchestrator.codeplex.com/releases/view/75877
The other night several runbooks stopped working and we found that ALL of the Integration Pack configuration settings for our SharePoint IP had been completely wiped and two completely unknown entries configured there instead.
From what I can tell, "ybusa.net" refers to YellowBook, which isn't even remotely related to us. The username and Sharepoint site URL are also completely unknown to us. The closest I reference I can find is that Yellowbook is mentioned a few times
as a reference customer for Opalis, and this codeplex post - http://scorch.codeplex.com/discussions/455038
I tried searching the sourcecode of the Sharepoint integration pack but could find no reference to ybusa or YellowBook.
The best guess I can come up with is that an integration pack we are using was written by someone while they were working for Yellowbook, and somehow there is a bit of "default" configuration data buried in the IP or a common binary somewhere that
was triggered somehow and caused this to happen.
It was not the only IP that had configuration settings lost and replaced with strange "default" entries, but not all of the IP's were affected (e.g. official Microsoft ones). So I was wondering if there is a connection between the author of the
    impacted IP's and YellowBook.
We were able to restore the database to a point just before the change happened and everything is now back to normal, but as we can find no trigger, cause or connection to why it happened at all, this is now making us rather nervous about the fact it may
    happen again.
We've been using these same IP's for quite some time now (>6 months) and there also have been no updates of SCORCH or any Integration packs performed in quite some time.
Any thoughts or suggestions that might help solve this mystery would be most welcome.
    Regards,
    Scott.

We have a answer - almost forgot to post a follow up about what happened.
The most important thing I learned from this is that importing Configuration configurations will entirely replace any config data that is already present for an Integration Pack.
The culprit was in fact the import of the "SC2012 Solution Runbook Examples" which also applies settings across several Integration Packs.
    http://orchestrator.codeplex.com/releases/view/86195
Digging through that code you can see the references to YellowBook.
A colleague has been testing export and import of his own runbooks (which I had checked and cleared as OK), but somewhere along the way he selected the Solutions one. At the time he didn't realise as it imported into a test sub folder that was being frequently
deleted and re-created. He has now been banished to the DEV environment pending a rigorous re-education program :)
So from this I now know:
We have a pretty good DR capability for Orchestrator
Importing has "Global Configurations" enabled by default and will REPLACE all existing config data for matching IPs. The documentation guides I've written for the people here say to unselect the import of Global configurations. That unfortunately
is no protection against Orchestrators desire to make it enabled by default
even more about the Orchestrator DB schema and how to follow the internal object GUIDs to find all the connections they have to each other
Orchestrator still has many many quirks that really need Microsoft to spend some time improving on
Thank you all for your feedback and suggestions.

  • SCORCH Administration Integration Pack Issue

I am using the SCORCH integration pack to monitor a few of the runbooks in our production environment. I am running from our pre-prod.
This is exactly what I'm doing: http://opalis.wordpress.com/2012/05/02/monitoring-the-monitor-runbooks/
It was working fine for a couple months, however it seems to have stopped and I'm having trouble figuring it out. When the activities run, they error out with the following:
    Runbooks Not Found in Folder:
    Exception: Exception
    Target site: SCOrch.getAllRunbooksInFolder
    Stack trace:
at OrchestratorInterop.SCOrch.getAllRunbooksInFolder(OrchestratorContext sco, String FolderPath) in c:\Projects\TFS\scorch\Orchestrator\Interop\SCOrch.cs:line 823
at OrchestratorIP.Activities.GetAllRunbooksInFolder.Execute(IActivityRequest request, IActivityResponse response) in c:\Projects\TFS\scorch\Orchestrator\OrchestratorIP\Activities\GetAllRunbooksInFolder.cs:line 41
I know I have the folder name correct - it worked before and nothing has changed. Also, there is no "c:\Projects..." path on the Orchestrator servers so I'm not sure where that log is supposed to be.

  • Orchestrator 2012 R2 on SQL 2012 SP1 Availability Group

    Hi all,
I've recently setup a new install of SCOrch 2012 R2 on a SQL 2012 SP1 Availability Group.  Everything went smooth and appears to be functioning correctly up until a failover occurs (manual or automatic).  Once there is a failover between database
nodes, the Orchestrator servers (Mgmt and Runbook) lose connectivity to the database and will not reconnect until the services are restarted and then they work again.
Has anyone setup Orchestrator on an Availability Group and are you seeing similar issues from a failover?
    Thanks!
    Jon

    Hi Jon,
has each member of the availability group the same master key to read encrypted data like passwords and the license code?

  • Installation of SCOM 2012 R2 with Orchestrator 2012 SP1 already installed

I'm new here and found this set up.
SCOM 2012 SP1 that was mis-installed badly. No DW, no Data Read or write account used. SPN's missing etc. Nothing is working on the SCOM Server. It's not connected to any other parts of System Center.
Orchestrator 2012 SP1 installed and seems to be working fine.
I know that I'm suppose to upgrade Orchestrator to R2 before upgrading SCOM 2012 to R2. But, I need to install SCOM 2012 R2 right now to ensure monitoring is in place. The question I have is can I install a fresh SCOM 2012 R2 and then go back and upgrade
Orchestrator to R2 or do I have to upgrade Orchestrator 2012 to R2 before I install the new SCOM 2012 R2?

    Hi Bigredchief,
Yes, it's recommended by Microsoft to update the Orchestrator first and then SCOM.
Look at the diagram between SC components here:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/13188.system-center-2012-integration-guide.aspx
    and for Orchestrator here:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/13185.system-center-2012-integration-guide-orchestrator.aspx
It’s clear visible from diagrams that SCOM monitors the Orchestrator by Management Pack and Orchestrator is connected to SCOM by Integration pack through Operations Manager SDK connection. The second link as well describes the integration between these 2
    components of SC (see #5.3).
You should analyse your System Center components integration, and check if any Orchestrator runbooks communicate to SCOM. In general it will be 2 risk components in such upgrade (SCOM and then Orchestrator) in my opinion - not supported officially by MS
in case of any issues, and stopped working SCOM connected runbooks.

  • SCCM 2012 R2 IP for Orchestrator 2012

    Hi,
We have Orchestrator 2012 (7.0.1154.0) installed, and I would like to connect it to our SCCM 2012 R2 (5.0.7958.1303) installation with an integration pack.
Does anyone know if I can connect a non-R2 Orchestrator to an R2 SCCM and if so, which IP I should use.
I wish I could upgrade my SC'Orch to R2 but sadly we have some old SharePoint 2007 third-party IP's which do not work with R2, so I don't think that is an option.
Your advice will be greatly appreciated.
    Tom

    Hi,
you can register and deploy the System Center2012 R2 Integration Pack for SCCM, available here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=39622&WT.mc

  • Integration pack to create user from template

Does anybody know if the Orchestrator 2012 Sp1  active directory integration pack has a way to create user from a template?
I believe there is a create user but not from a template.
    Thanks
    Lance
    Thanks Lance

    Hi Lance,
you are right. There's no "Create User from template" or "Copy User" Activity in the Integration pack for Active Directory in System Center SP1 or R2.
Perhaps, you can use "Get User" to get some settings from the template and subscribe the results to "Create User" Activity.

  • Orchestrator 2012 SP1 Runbook Redundnacy

Currently we have a very basic environment, but we need to look at redundancy.  If I introduce a new runbook server into our environment in the event that one runbook server becomes unavailable,
    do the runbooks:
    1.) Continue to run?
2.) Will they "failover" to the other runbook server
    3.) Will they "Failback"?
Right now I am thinking about creating a custom integration pack to query the runbook servers and select one at random and set the runbook to run on that server, but to avoid unnecessary work
I would like to find out if simply installing another server will automatically provide this.
    Thanks

If you're going to answer my question with pretentiousness or disrespect, move on to another question. I don't need your help. Thank you

    Hello,
Runbook Server work in fail-over mode: If the Runbook Server with active Rubooks will have no connection to Orchestrator database the other one(s) will start this Runbooks from beginning.
There is no "failback" unless the Runbook is restarted.

  • HP Operations Manager integration pack 7.1 for SCORCH Error

    Hi
I am using the HP Operations Manager integration pack 7.1 for SCORCH this is working well sending messages in both directions from SCOM2012 to HP OM and from HP OM to SCOM with the get message/acknowledge message objects but the monitor message object does
not work at all. No errors are logged and we can see the traffic in a network trace. The monitor message object just never triggers.
has anyone else seen this issue ?
    Thanks

The problem that I had was with the HP OM función "Monitor Message". Web service didn´t response Orchestrator.
After all I fond the solution, If you Want the Orchestrator to monitor Messages from HPOM you should
    define a filter by message group on the activity "monitor Message";
In this case that's because HPOM has the visibility of the user, configured through the atribute "Message Group".
    I hope will be useful.
