VSS Lic on 4500 with Sup7L-E ?

Hi,
Does anyone know the correct way to lic VSS on a 4500 SUP7L-E ?
At
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst4500/release/note/OL_27990-01.html
Under Table 5 - Support by Image Type; VSS is listed as available on IP Base (SUP7E only) and a plain Yes under Enterprise Services,
inferring that you need Enterprise Services lic on SUP7L-E to get VSS...?
But
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/switches/ps10902/ps12332/at_a_glance_c45-696645.pdf
Under Table 1 - Minimum License for VSS; IP Base or higher (7-E) or special license (7-LE and Catalyst 4500-X)
Can find no option on CCO / configuration tools to list a 'special' VSS license for 4500R+E chasiss with dual SUP7L-E and IP Base
How are you meant to purchase/license VSS on 4500E Chassis + SUP7L-E ?
thanks,
Sez

I have the same issue.
We are configuring VSS on Sup7L-E which has been purchased with IP  Base licensing, however when we look at the licensing summary, it  indicates that a feature of Enterprise Services has been configured .
Currently we have only configured VSS, so this  indicates Enterprise Services is required for VSS, however I cannot find  any information confirming this.

  • What license neede to VSS in CAT 4500 with SUP7L-E

I have two identical chassis with identical cards and supervisors SUP7L-E. License level is ipbase. Is it possible to deploy VSS in this configuration?
I thought it is, but I've found doc http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/products/collateral/switches/catalyst-4500-x-series-switches/at_a_glance_c45-696645.pdf where:
Supported supervisors on Catalyst 4500-E Supervisor Engine 7-E or 7-LE (identical pairs)
Minimum license IP Base or higher (7-E) or special license (7-LE and Catalyst 4500-X)
    What means special license?
In this guide https://supportforums.cisco.com/document/124626/virtual-switching-system-vss-configuration-cisco-4500-series-switches we have only:
    3) Minimum license : VSS will work with IP BASE or ENTSERVICES license; it doesn't work with LAN BASE .For information about Software Activation Licensing please refer Cisco Catalyst 4500E Supervisor 7-E and 7L-E and Cisco Catalyst 4500-X Series Software Activation Licensing Deployment Guide.

You  can get the software from your printer's website:
    Start at
    HP 4500 officejet
Select your exact model, put in your Operating System...
You are looking for the Product Installation Software -- the Full Feature Software for your OS
Download the package, it may be large..
Then install it... Reboot your computer after the installation.
    That may do it!

  • Struggling to pair my Officejet 4500 with my HP Laptop

I just purchased a HP15-g035wm  laptop earlier today.  I currently have my Officejet 4500 all-in-one wired to my PC.  I'm struggling to get my new laptop to recognize the printer.  I have installed the printer and software on the laptop, but it will not recognize any devices.
I'm pretty sure the laptop does not have bluetooth, but the PC and my laptop are both connected to the same wireless network.  Any suggestions???

    Hello msierotowicz,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I see that you are unable to fully setup and install the Officejet 4500 onto your new laptop. I have one question, you mention that the Officejet 4500 is "wired" to the one computer. Is this a USB connection to the computer, or Ethernet to the computer?
For both the new and old computer to access the printer, the printer would need to the wired to the router with an Ethernet cable. If the printer is wired to the router, run the HP Print and Scan Doctor and tell me if it finds the printer on the new laptop.

  • Configuring VSS on Catalyst 4500 Supervisor 8-E

I am trying to configure VSS between two Catalyst 4510R+E chassis that are equipped with dual Supervisor 8e blades, all running enterprise services licenses. I have configured SSO and NSF on both chassis, but when I get to the step to configure the virtual switch domain, I'm unable to proceed any further. I'm only able to get the following output:
    Switch(config)#switch virtual ?
    % Unrecognized command
According to the VSS setup documentation, I should be able to input switch virtual domain <#> at this point to configure the virtual domain for VSS.
I'm guessing that the problem is the IOS version that the supervisor engines are running, which is 3.3.0XO. I know on the Supervisor 7-E blades, IOS version 3.4.0SG or higher is required to run VSS.
Can anyone confirm whether or not 3.3.0XO supports VSS? Cisco's data sheet states that the 8-E supports VSS, but the release notes are rather vague:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst4500/release/note/OL_29983-01.html
If 3.3.0XO does not support VSS, can anyone confirm whether or not 3.4.0SG is supported on the Supervisor 8-E?

IOS-XE 3.6.0 does support VSS on Sup8 - Please make sure to upgrade the rom before attempting to upgrade the sup.
     ROM version = 15.1(1r)SG4

  • VSS support on 4500 Sup 8e

    Dear Experts,
I've been waiting for IOS 3.6.0Xe to enable VSS in a data center deployment.
I heard that Cisco has planned to release it in June, 2014 but till now there's no update for this.
Is there anyone who can help me to know whether Cisco is releasing this in June 2014 or I've to stay on the HSRP.
    Best Regards,
    Umer

Cisco has released 3.6.0 last week, can somebody please confirm if VSS is supported on Sup 8e with this long awaited release?
I need to know this urgently as my client is requiring this feature since so long.
    Best Regards,
    Umer

  • What are the differences between Easy VSS and Traditional VSS on Catalyst 4500E with Sup 8E ?

I would like to know which feature is different between Easy VSS and Traditional VSS.
I know "Easy VSS is a new way of implementing VSS by using a single command" but I cannot find more information about it.
    Please help.
    Thank you.
    Nash

Easy VSS is a simplified and automated way of configuring VSS for first time. Once a VSS is configured then it same as traditional VSS in functionality.
There is no concept of layer 2 or layer 3 VSL link. VSL is the internal portchannel link and you cannot configure as layer 2 or layer 3 portchannel.
Following is the link of Easy VSS steps.
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst4500/XE3-6-0E/15-22E/configuration/guide/xe-360-config/vss.html#60764

  • Use VSS or similar tool with Flex Builder 3 Profesional

    Hi
I want to use Visual Sorcesafe or other similar tool with
Flex Builder 3. so that we can work in a team on single project.
Can anyone please give some ideas, that how can i do this.
    Thanks & Regards
    Ajay Dekavadiya

Almost anyone using this list is probably going to be using
CVS or SVN with Flex rather than Visual SourceSafe, as they are
free. You can get plugins for Flex Builder/Eclipse that integrate
CVS or SVN source code control into your project. Many projects use
SVN now, and on Windows TortoiseSVN is frequently used as a context
menu based way of managing changes in your source code repository.
You can do some googling for 'eclipse svn plugin', or I
believe CVS is built-in by default, which you would see under
    Window->Preferences->Team->CVS in eclipse/FB.

has anyone else had trouble printing from hp chromebook 14?
i have an hp envy 4500 printer,

    Hi marshasue,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums. I understand that you are encountering difficulties when printing from your Chromebook to your Envy 4500 printer.
To better assist you, would you please provide some additional information:
How is the printer connected (USB cable, wireless direct, or wireless)?
Are you getting any error messages? If yes, what do they say?
Have you setup the ePrint feature of the printer? If yes, did you customize the printer’s ePrint email address?
Have you setup Google Cloud print?
    Thank you.

  • 6880-X VSS dual-active detection with Enhanced PAgP

    Hello,
I plan to use Enhanced PAgP for dual-active detection for a VSS consisting of 6880-X.
    Has anybody tested it?
What about the 6800IA switch - does it have a similar feature that can help the active switch in the VSS to find out if the former standby has become also active?
    Thanks, kind regards,

hey, i ran this up in the lab, the FEX itself runs dual active detection without the need for PAGP.

  • 4500X VSS - Dual Active Detection with ePAgP

    Hello,
I am interesting if 3560x supports ePAgP. I have VSS which is formed by two 4500x switches. Can I use 3560x, which is connected two both VSS members via 10Gb optics for Dual Active detection ?

    Hi,
As PagP is not supported accross differents 3750(-X) units of a stack (but LACP yes), ePagp is not supported also. The MEC has to be formed from the same 3750(-X) unit / Standalone 35xx and 37xx do support PAgPand thus ePAgP.
    Page 17 and 20 of http://www.cisco.com/web/DK/assets/docs/presentations/VSS_0109.pdf =>
"Since cross-stack EtherChannel does not support PAgP, it can not use enhanced PAgP for dual ACTIVE detection.
Hence the only alternative for cross-stack EtherChannel configuration is to use BFD as a dual ACTIVE detection method"
    Hope it helps.
    Regards;
    Inayath

  • 4500-X VSS with different chassis or port counts

Is it possible to run VSS on 2 4500-X switches of different port counts? For example a 24 port 4500-X and a 32 port 4500-X paired into a VSS cluster?

    Yes.
See this excerpt from the following link:
    Best-in-Class Resiliency
The Cisco Catalyst 4500-X Series is designed for excellent nonstop communications with non-interrupted hardware switching. With Cisco IOS XE Software, customers continue to reap the benefits of this best-in-class resiliency in various ways.
In addition to redundant power supplies and fans, the Cisco Catalyst 4500-X is Virtual Switching System (VSS).
Any two Cisco Catalyst 4500-X Series Switches can be pooled together into a VSS. The two switches are connected with 10 Gigabit Ethernet links called Virtual Switch Links (VSLs). Once a VSS is created, it acts as a single virtual Cisco Catalyst switch delivering the following benefits:
