VSSADMIN Create Shadow on Windows 8.1
Hi Everyone.
I am running Windows 8.1 Professional.
I tried to run the command "VSSADMIN CREATE SHADOW" but it returned invalid command.
From Technet notes http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc788055.aspx it states that this command applies to Windows 8. But does it apply to Windows 8.1?
Is there any thing I need to do before I am able to use the Create function for VSSADMIN?

I believe the VSSADMIN command has been limited on Windows 8.1.

How Microsoft feels comfortable in deleting access to the core functionality of Windows is anyone's guess. We can see now, with the failure of Windows 8, that their strategy has been a mistake. Perhaps they will reverse it
soon.
On a related note, I'm not sure what your goals are, but you might want to take a look at the WBADMIN command, which is still capable of making VSS-integrated system image backups.

Not enough space to create shadow copy Windows 8.1
I receive "There is not enough disk space to create the volume shadow copy on storage location." error on Lenovo IdeaPad when trying to create System mage Backup. When I check "Disk mgmt." console all volumes shown to have 100% free space.
Does anyone have a remedy for this problem?It's kind of impossible for all volumes to have 100% free space if you're running Windows from one of them, eh?
But to get more space on a volume to make shadow copies do this (excerpted from my book). Note that this assumes you're using a Start menu replacement tool, but the same concepts apply when using the Start just substitute "Press
the Win key" for "Click Start".
Here's how to increase the depth of your System Restore history:
Click Start, type protection into the search box, and click
SystemPropertiesProtection.exe when it comes up.
Click on your C: drive in the Protection Settings
box to highlight it.
Click the [ Configure ] button.
Choose the ( ) Turn on system protection setting if it is not on.
Assuming you have sufficient disk space, increase the Max Usage slider
until you have allocated at least 20 GB of storage for System Restore settings. This will give you a nice, deep multi-week System Restore history if ever you should need it.

here J:\ is a 100 MB NTFS partition, protected by custom backup application.
Event viewer has following error in Application Log:
"Volume Shadow Copy Service error: The I/O writes cannot be held during the shadow copy creation period on volume \\?\Volume{f0afe5a5-4a2f-11dc-bb12-001143de30f2}\. The volume index in the shadow copy set is 0. Error details: Open[0x00000000], Flush[0x00000000], Release[0x80042314], OnRun[0x00000000]"
(Note: It works for win32 server.)
Though there is some information regarding this bug on MSDN, I could not proceed.

VNY.If SnapDrive 6.4 or 6.4.1 is in use, consider upgrading to 6.4.2 due to a known issue in bug 631829, which results in unnecessary VSS_HOLD_WRITES_TIMEOUTS errors,
due to a new ZAPI call workflow during a wafl-sync multicreation snapshot. This issue is fixed in SnapDrive 6.4.2 and higher.
If issues persist after the upgrade, or the version of SnapDrive is earlier than 6.4 or later than 6.4.2, the error is generally related to either full volumes or a potential performance bottleneck on the storage controller, and there might be a considerable
delay in SME backup time.
If the volume is full, resize the volume to ensure it has enough space. For more information, see
2013016: SnapDrive fails to mount LUN because it tries to enable LUN space reservation
2014096: SnapManager for Exchange backup fails with error code: 0xc00402b5
The delays and timeouts can be related to SnapDrive for Windows (SDW) Transport Protocol Settings on HTTP/S protocol with a domain account rather than using a local privileged account on the storage system. Using a domain account for HTTP authentication
can result in significantly reduced performance. To avoid this issue, use a storage system account for authentication (for example, root (7-mode), vsroot (Clustered ONTAP), or another privileged account created on the storage system(s)), instead of a domain
account for the Transport Protocol Setting on all DAG nodes.
If the issue still persists, call the NetApp support hotline and be prepared to gather some storage system-side performance data using the Perfstat tool.

I can only create tabs by clicking on a link in an email or a program or a link in the window I am viewing. It will NOT create a new tab when I click on the tab to create a new tab, nor will it create a new tab when I right click on the tab & click on create a new tab. I'm used to using tabbed browsing all the time & it's driving me nuts. HELP!

Open Link in New Window creates an invisible window (visible after restarting).
When I use the right mouse button menu to Open Link in New Window from a web page it creates an invisible window. That is, I cannot see the window but it is listed in the Firefox Window menu. This newly opened window cannot be selected either by mouse or from the Window menu. However, if I quit and restart Firefox the new window appears as 0 pixels wide (i.e., a 1 pixel wide vertical line) and I can select it (by mouse or Window menu) and zoom it from the Window menu. After zooming I can operate on the window normally.
Get Firebug and inspect the element. You'll see that it actually is this:

When i create a new window, firefox Yanks me back to where i was and i dont want to be yanked back.
i duplicate current pages by create new windows on a very frequent basis;
to do this, i go to the top of the page that i want to duplicate and right-click and click on Open Link in New Window;
I specifically want to duplicate the page i am on in another Window, not a new tab;
Because
Duplicating the current page to Open Link in New Tab, gives tabs on the top of my screen;
Duplicating the current page to Open Link in New Window, gives 'tabs' on the bottom of my screen;
I want 'tabs' to show on the bottom of my screen and to do that i have to Open Link in New Window;
My question and What is happening, is that firefox is yanking me back to the page that i have just duplicated by right-clicking at the top of the page and clicking on Open Link in New Window;
When i create the new Window, firefox yanks me back to the page that i just duplicated and i dont want to be yanked back to that page;
I want to stay on the page that i just duplicated.
I have tried changing the way tabs work in Options but nothing checked or unchecked results in the specific way i want to have new Windows open and STAY on that newly created Window and not be YANKED back to the window i duplicated.The original window did not have a Flash object, but does the window that hides itself contain a Flash object? That is the usual pattern for this bug in the plugin's protected mode feature.

I upgraded to OS Yosemite on my MacBook Air...and I cannot upgrade the Adobe Flash download that Adobe keeps asking me to download. I get the screen and when I click on the icon it just creates a new window but not download. Thoughts?
I just tried the link and it is just fine. If the GateKeeper pops up then open Security & Privacy preferences, click on the General tab, set the last radio button to Anywhere.

How do you create multiple execution windows for a custom opterator interface
I am starting to create a custom operator interface for TestStand 3.5 using Labview 8.0. This is my first exposure to custom operator interfaces (and ActiveX). The example operator interfaces have only one execution window that changes based on the executions combo box. My sequence is going to be run with the parallel sequence model (2 test sockets). So I want my custom operator interface to have 2 execution windows, one for each test socket. How can I do this? I created a second execution window but it just mirrors the first execution window.

1. How to get a window handle of a CVI panel? As execution view are resident in child panels, so I may need the window handle of
individual child panels.
2. Even the window hanlde is gotten, how can I convert it to a VARIANT Type? According to the function panle of
TSUI_ExecutionViewMgrSetUserData (, NULL, ), the last parameter is a "VARIANT".
Any comments or instructions for my assumption?

Can i create a home window without using a NIB file
I hate interface builder, it is a really counter-intuitive piece of junk. Please don't try to convince me otherwise I prefer to do it all in code. Right now i have my whole product running dynamically, creating all the interface objects programmatically as my positioning is all calculated on the fly.
However I still have one NIB file (MainWindow.NIB) that creates the home window and somehow links to my AppDelegate class, which is the startup class for my app. I see that my main.c routine calls UIApplicationMain() which somehow loads the main nib (hidden magic here), and then eventually my AppDelegate() method which is of calss UIWindow() gets called with an initialize() call followed by applicationDidFinishLaunching() call and off we go.
Can I create the window dynamically by not using NIBs? Now that we have ipad and iphone to contend with, I would want to create a window that is either 320 x 480 or 768 x 1024 depending on what machine I am on. I would like to get rid of the NIB because I don't understand the wiring stuff and I tried to make a NIB myself but now get a cryptic error message, and anyway the NIB has a fixed size and my app wants to be dynamic now that we have two screen sizes.
The second part of the question is how do you know what kind of machine you are on? I don't see a Gestalt() routine like in the old mac days so you can tell what machine it is.There are always less-informed people who think that a STATIC development tool is somehow more powerful than a flexible dynamic interface computed as one goes. The idea of a static screen form that you control dates back the 80's; modern interfaces are DYNAMIC and interface builder cannot construct those; sure it can perhaps help you lay out things, but if the user turns on certain features then new controls are visible. We have built products with over 500 controls in them and as only perhaps 25 are needed at any one time the software rearranges the screen in the most optimal form at all times. The more advanced the product the more one chafes at a static design tool.

Yes, you can do something like that. What you would do is create a button for each image and then hide them. When I do this type of thing I place all of the buttons on a template page and then hide the template.
You can then use JavaScript to copy the icon from any of the hidden buttons to the main button that you've set up to display the image. For example, suppose you set up 10 buttons named b1, b2, b3, ...b10. The code to copy the icon from one of them to the button used to display the image (b0) would be something like this:

Issue while creating a enhancement window with Interface enabled check
Hello everyone,
i have a standard webdynpro component "fmca_wdy_return" to enhance. The component is one the applications configured in floor plan manager "FPM_OIF_COMPONENT".
we have created a tab on the FPM view and we need to configure the wda component window onto this view. The problem is when i create a new window as an enhancement in the wda component(FMCA_WDY_RETURN) it does not enable the interface check in the properties tab, if the interface is not checked we can configure the window in the FPM.
can someone explain the enhancement window is not interface check enabled? how can it be enabled? or is there any other solution for this?

Telephone call data has been collected from a company's telephone switch. You have been asked to analyze it and produce various statistics.
Input File
The input file is a sequential file. It is in no specific order. The file contains an extension number, type of call, and the length of call in seconds. A record is produced each time a call is made from that extension. You should create your own test file.
Field Type Description
Extension Integer Extension number. This is a 4 digit number. Valid Extensions are 2000 to 2020.
Type Integer Value of 1 means internal, any other value is an external call.
Time Long Length of call in seconds
Example:
