Vst to Audio Unit Adapter Logic Pro OS X Mountain Lion

Hi,
So after looking on Google, Fxpansion seemed to be the most famous software used for converting VSTs to Audio Units onto Logic Pro. After buying and downloading it, I figured their company would not provide support anymore, and their software was not compatible with OS X Mountain Lion.
So now that Fxpansion doesn't provide the service I was looking for, I am wondering what you guys are using in order to use VSTs such as Massive or Sylenth in Logic Pro?
Thank you in advance!

Its worth noting.. because a lot of people get the wrong idea about such 'wrappers' .....
...that only Mac versions of VSTs work with such 'wrappers' and not Windows versions and as almost every Mac VST is available as an AU plugin anyhow.. such 'wrappers' have become obsolete these days.
Massive and Sylenth are both available as AU plugins.. However, Sylenth is only available as a 32bit plugin and therefore will not work with LPX.
You can use VEP5 however, to run 32bit plugins in LPX but if thats all you use VEP5 for, it is a pricey solution.
Its also worth noting that if you have a PC with Windows installed, lying around.. you can run VEP5 on the PC and that will allow you to access Windows VST plugins that are insatlled on the PC..  with Logic Pro (9 and X) on your Mac

  • How to update the BOX version of the Logic Pro 9 in Mountain Lion??

    Hi!
How to update the BOX version of the Logic Pro 9 in Mountain Lion?
For example,  if tomorrow will be new updates for Logic Pro for exapmle 9.1.8. (now I have 9.1.7) Will I not able to get it?? Now should I buy the second Logic pro??
Recently I have got answer from App Store support:
"Max, since you have not purchased the app in the App Store, you can't get updates directly in App Store. In this case, you will need to purchase the updated version in the App Store so you can get further updates."
It's... I bought Logic Pro 9 + MainStage +  + +++ .... in the Apple Retail Store and what now?? Updates works perfect in Snow Leopard.
    I can't understand...
Can you help me please? =)

    Max,
Rest assurred, you will get updates via the App store. What will happen is when you install the box version, the Mac App Store will ping when there is an update to download(for free), much like any other Apple app(Garageband, iWork, etc) regardless of where you bought it from. If it's installed, it will check for updates.
If the Mac App store doesn't show an update that you know is out, simply down it directly from support.apple.com and apply it.
Hope this helps. If so, LIKE the post.

  • Will the Zoom R16 work as an interface in Logic Pro X under Mountain Lion?

I've searched and found some indications that the Zoom R16 will work and has problems with earlier versions of Mac OS; so my question is actually will the R16 work under Mountain Lion (GB, Logic Pro, etc) as a control AND a recording interface?
I'll be using it on either a late 2011 MBP core i7 16GB Ram solid state HD (live playing, live recording) or on a late 2012 iMac core i7 32GB Ram solid state HD with Thunderbolt and USB3.0 outboard drives (recording).
Any input would be appreciated... I've been unable to definitely tell if it's an "install the driver, install Logic Pro, and then rock n roll" or it's a "doesn't work correctly, makes noise, crashed my system AND killed my pet rabbit" kind of thing.
    Thanks,
    Les

Thanks Art of Sound. I did see that post but it didn't give me a warm feeling about the Zoom.
My bad, I should have posted back after I messed around with this. It turned out that my problem was due to some kind of intermittent connection within the Zoom itself.
I got another one, and it's working fine now as a Mackie Control. It's a little arcane getting it hooked up in Logic (mostly due to inexperience on my part), but so far it seems to be working fine...
If I can spare anyone the frustration/confusion:
    Basically:
Download the latest and greatest Zoom R16 driver from their web site and install (I'm using OSX ML and it works fine with Logic Pro X).
Plug in Zoom R16 via USB 2.0 cable, (then on the Zoom itself, select USB, then AUDIO INTERFACE? (Enter), then SETTING? (Enter).
You may need to open Audio/Midi Preferences and set that to the ZOOM R16.
Open Logic and hopefully it sees the Zoom.
Under main Logic Pro X header, select Control Surfaces>Setup
Find and add "Mackie Control" (there are other ones, this one works, can't speak to the rest).
Then (and this is the part that I kept missing) make sure to select the Mackie Control (so it gets a blue box around it) and then make sure the Output Port and Input Port are set to Zoom R16_R24 using the little up/down arrow thingies at the right of each box. I didn't see these/figure out how to select at first... I'm a DA NOOB.
That's it. Open a new multitrack project, assign your inputs to channels, and off you go!
    Recording:
All inputs work, level control and faders (which aren't motorized, so it can be a little confusing at first)
Transport and control buttons work, the jog/shuttle is useful.
There are 5 function buttons that by default change the Logic screen setups (can be programmed differently)
Track button seems to mute/unmute only.
The on-board condenser mikes work, if you want them (channels 7 & 8 on the Zoom). Ugh.
Electric guitar direct in seems ok, and a Shure SM57 worked fine. I'll be working with some better mikes hopefully this weekend.
I have it working happily with a late 2011 MBPro, and a late 2012 iMac.
For the money, considering it's a stand-alone 8 track digital recorder (seems to work ok for that purpose so far) as well, it's actually sort of cool. Setup your mixdown in Logic as a wave project, and pull the files off the SD card (Zoom can be configured as a USB card reader easily). Will record at high sample rates allegedly.
I won't be so lazy in future, and I'll report my on-going experience with it.

  • TS2565 logic pro 9 and mountain lion

I got a prompt saying that Logic does not work with my current operating system. I have to believe that it not corect.
I am running Mountain Lion with Logic Pro 9.
I got the upgrade to 9.1.8 but the installer can't find the App. How to I make it see the app, which is in my applications folder?

Mac Pro early 2008 is apparently supported, according to Apple - everything will work except for Airdrop.
    From Apple's website:-
Your Mac must be one of the following models:
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)

  • Does logic pro 8 work mountain lion?

I've updated my Mac Xeon with Mountain Lion and now my Logic Pro 8 is giving me a midi conflict error. How can I fix this or does Logic Pro 8 even work Mountain LIon? Can anyone help me?

I know.. I have both read and taken part in that thread but again....
The majority of peopole who run Logic 9.1.8 and Lion or now Mountain Lion do not have those issues... and because they do not, they don't post in such threads.. so you get a distorted view of the true numbers of people with problems.
Those that do have issues, will naturally post up in such threads... but that doesn't mean they are the majority of users... They are just the 'loudest' and quite rightly so.
I will also say that for me personally, 10.6.8 and Logic 9.1.5/9.1.6 was and still is the most stable platform for Logic of all of the various combinations available... but apart from an annoying issue with the "airplay' dialog box that keeps popping up in 9.1.8 with ML... and the GUI lag affecting a few plugins.. I don't have any major issues with Logic and ML... so I can happily live and work with that setup...
Finally, it's also worth noting that with my own client base.. initially with Lion and then Mountain Lion the number of clients who had problems was much higher.. Probably closer to 20-25% had issues..  but most of those issues were resolved by updates to incompatible drivers/3rd party plugins and so on...
Once those kind of issues were resolved... as I said earlier, the number of my clients who still have major issues running uner Lion or ML with Logic Pro 9 has dropped to less than 5%... and to me, that respresents a minority of all users... like it or not.

  • Logic Pro 8 and Mountain Lion

So I've upgraded to Mountain Lion and have run into a problem when running Logic Pro 8.
First off, I'm still using Logic Pro 8 because until now I've had no problems with it and have seen no reason to purchase version 9 (If it's not broke, don't fix it).
Well, since installing Mountain Lion, Logic crashes every time I try to do and (Option-Drag) Time stretch. Since this is a feature I use almost constantly this has become a HUGE problem!! I love Mountain Lion otherwise so don't particularly wan't to go back to Snow Leopard but it's looking like it could be the only way forward. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Does anyone know a way to get around it? I've seen a few suggestions to open Logic in 32 bit mode but can't figure out how to do it with Logic 8, all of the suggestion are for Logic 9 and dont have the same path. If anyone can help or has any suggesetion that would be much apprictiated!
    Cheers

I am not, but if Logic 8 does not work it is not because of 32/64 bit limitations, as OS X could not haver made significant changes without also breaking Logic 9 nad a bunch of other 32bit Applications. 32bit Apps work fine in ML and always have, and 64bit bootloaders existed on nearly all Mac Pros and even the old Xserve and they ran Logic 8 fine. The restrictions are most likely in the .plist files inside the .app file, the same way they were when trying to run older versions of Java which were also 'incompatible' due to .plist only listing up to 10.7 being compatible (this was important wen testing and running old Java programs). I would tell you how to edit it so that Logic could Launch normally but I don't have a copy of Logic 8 anymore to grab the original and make edits.
As mentioned in the link you can run Logic 8 by doing the following:
    1. launch Terminal
    2. type (exactly, including quotes and ampersand)
If logic is not in Applications, substitute the formoer portion of the directory by dragging the Logic.app file into Terminal, then add /Contents/MacOS/Logic Pro" & to the end, make sure there a respeech marks at either end.
    "/Applications/Logic Pro.app/Contents/MacOS/Logic Pro" &
    3. press ENTER (and then minimize the Terminal window)
    4. look (and hear) at Logic Pro Studio 8 roaring out at your favourite Lion
    5. enjoy!
    6. When you're finished recording/playing in Logic just quit it as usual (don't forget to save your job)
    7. you can now quit Terminal too.
This will bypass the .plist files in the .app by running the binary directly

  • Logic Pro 9 and Mountain Lion, compatible or not?

I'm confused: RoaringApps says LP is not compatible with ML.
    Apple suggests it is.
    I have 9.1.7.
    Anyone know for usre, please?
    Thanks!

I don't have VSL running here so can't say for certain. But it should work fine - all of my instruments and plugins are working without issue (including NI Komplete, Wallander, Virus TI, Omnisphere, and even EW Play, which has been known to stop working just by looking at it funny).
As always, make sure you have a way back before upgrading - maybe via Time Machine or a recent clone of your system drive.

  • Digidesign 192 units with Logic Pro X

Hi- is it possible to use 2/3 Digidesign 192 units with Logic Pro X or am i still relegated to 8 ch in/out w the D. core audio driver? I recently bought an Universal Audio Apollo 16 that I can use for mixing/editing on my iMac or MacBookPro but I have 2 192 units and am thinking of buying another to run on an 2009 Mac Pro for live recording or would I be better off just selling the 192's and purchasing another Apollo 16for 32 tracks for live recordings?
I could only get 8 ch in/out with LP 9 and will need more inputs for the live recording rig and would rather use Logic than PT 8.
    Thanks!

Logic Remote detects Logic Pro via Bonjour, which is done via a technology called "DNS Multicast". AirPlay, etc. all work this way. Make sure it has the most recent firmware and maybe google for issues with it.

  • How do I normalise an audio track in Logic Pro

I would like to know how to normalise an audio track in Logic Pro X in order to increase the volume level to limit of say 0dB.

When you bounce your song out there is a normalise box you can tick.
No one really does it though as it has way more detrimental affects than it has positives. You can also do it through the sample edit window, if, for some reason, you wanted to normalise a single track in your multi track recording.
oh, ps, make sure you have all the advanced features ticked in Logic X preferences.

Is it possible to burn multiple uncompress tracks onto an audio cd from Logic pro?

    Hi,
Create a play list that you wish to burn. Select playlist, the file from main menu which gives to an option to burn the playlist. A pop up box appears allowing you to select burn speed and disc format.

  • My audio aggregate device is not stable in Mountain Lion, it was fine before I upgraded from Snow Leopard - every time I reboot the computer it loses the configuration and so it is not available in Logic Pro

My audio aggregate device is not stable in Mountain Lion - it was fine before I upgraded from Snow Leopard. Every time I reboot the audio aggregate device (MOTU TRAVELER, MOTU PRE8 1, MOTU PRE8) has to be reconfigured so that it is available within Logic Pro.

Most likely you have Office 2004 which are PPC-only applications and will not work in Lion. Upgrade to Office 2011. Other alternatives are:
Apple's iWork suite (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.)
Open Office (Office 2007-like suite compatible with OS X.)
    NeoOffice (similar to Open Office.)
LibreOffice (a new direction for the Open Office suite.)

What to do, to add the ivory audio units in logic? I can't see it. Thanks

    You can't see it.
    Right.
Readers of this post have no idea where you are looking for it.... Is it so hard give a tiny little bit of MORE INFORMATION? Or are you looking for the elusive Logic Psychic Users forum perhaps?
    1. Read documentation. It's pretty simple really, like any other 3rd party instrument or effect plugin.
Have you run an installer? Did it say it was successful? If so, then it's there and you should be able to find it without any forum help.

Is there a way to run the PPC only Audio Units in Logic audio on a Intel mac by opening logic in Rosetta?
I tryed and this isn't working but maybe is there a way to tweak something to run this (even if it's slow).
    Thanks

If the plugins you want to run are available as standalones (like soft synths or Guitar Rig), you can always run them in standalone mode and use Soundflower to route the audio to Logic. For the midi, use the IAC driver available in the AudioMidi Setup.
