VSTi plug-ins for orchestral/string sounds?

I see the 3 instruments that come with the Adobe Audition 3.0 when you first install it. I'm trying find a high quality VSTi plug-in for orchestral string sounds that is supported by Adobe Audition 3.0. There seem to be a lot of websites that offer free plug-ins, but I am not sure where to start. Does anyone have experience playing MIDI files with orchestral VSTi plug-ins?
Thanks!

It's easy (if the VSTi 2.0 plugin you find works with Audition 3). Most only require you to copy the VSTi plugin.dll to the Audition VTSi plugin's directory and then rescan the plugins.
Take a look at www.gersic.com to see hundreds of free VST plugins and free VSTi plugins. A few are orchestral, just search the web page.

  • Plug Ins for Orchestra work

What are the plug-ins you find work best for orchestra production (I use VSL), and do you tweak the standard settings on them to produce the most realistic sound?

Now lets go back to your question,
    1) you have a good arrangement, that means the parts do complement well
    2) you have good samples (VSL)
    3) you play the parts on your keyboard - not mechanically, not quantized.
first problem: you play all parts by yourself, no interaction between the musicians. In an orchestra (at this point) the musicians would try to get a "tutti" sound, each instrument has to "fit in the mix". Thats difficult, when you have to do it part by part.
    4) Your parts are all recorded. Now you will pan the parts like an orchestra is positioned.
    5) Creation of sound. Lets see how an orchestra is recorded normally. You would use a pair of omnidirectional microphones. Recording in AB which produces many phase differences. This is how the room will be created. Rarely you will see an AB-recording.
You would use spot microphones for some groups and solo instruments of the orchestra. These spot microphones will be added to the AB-main-microphone, panned like you hear the instruments on the AB-Mics.
To create a realistic sound with virtual orchestra you first will have to create that tutti room sound with a good true stereo reverb. Pan your sound sources like a real orchestra and add some reverb.
In a real orchestra recording, the spot microphones would bring out some details of specific instruments and bring the solo instruments to the front.
I would suggest to use the sends of the instruments-channels to add some reverb. Less reverb for the instruments in the front, more reverb for the instruments in the back. But reverb is not the whole thing. Room is created by volume and phase differences. If you want your trumpet to be placed to the right you should not only pan it to the right but also use a sample delay to delay the left channel of the trumpet by a few milliseconds. This will sound much more realistic than just panning (which only adjusts the volume of the right and left channel).
The ear is very sensitive for phase differences.
And its even more complex since orchestra recordings are normally done with a lot of spot microphones, so there will be a lot of phase differences (which sometimes also may be a problem).
A sound engineer who is recording classical music would never use compression or Eq. He would choose the best microphone for each instrument. Compression kills the dynamics, although you will hear some compression of orchestra tracks in the cinema.
You may use some eq anyway. In an orchestra a musician will hear which frequencies and sound is needed and adapt the sound and volume. When you play all instruments by your own you will have to do some fine tuning. If there are instruments that kill each other with the same frequencies you may clean the picture with eqs.
    Hope that helps,
    Eddie

  • Plug-ins for LE9

    Hi all.
I've just bought the following gear for a small home recording setup: MacBook Pro 2.44mhz, LE9, TC Electronic Impact Twin, SE Electronic 2200A Mic, M-audio midi keyboard.
The music I'm doing is minimalistic folk or something like it.
Currently i'm using the plug-ins that comes with LE9, but my question is: what would be great plug-ins for my style of music? I'm going to use it mainly for Keys, strings, flutes, drums and bass. I would really like plug-ins that sounds organic, is there something like that out there? And what about free plug-ins, where do I find these?
I'm going to link to my music so that you guys can get a sense of the style, the music on myspace is recorded in a traditional fashion though.

Welcome to the world of Logic !
I would recommend the M-Tron Pro and VSE both from G force for strings , flutes , etc. http://www.gforcesoftware.com/index.php
And Maybe some very simple less polished sounding sample libraries for bass and drums which you could load right into the esx-24 sampler in logic ,but I can't recommend any since A: thats not my style so I don't know the names of some I've heard and B: Sample libraries are a very personal choice.
I would recommend that if it looks flashy it's probably not going to produce than salt of the earth sound your after though .

  • FCE HD Plug-ins for effects and transitions?

    Good Morning
does anyone know if there are any software companies out there that make plug-ins for FCE HD like there are for iMovie?
    Thanks for your help
    PG
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

There are a number of companies out there that make plugins - just do a Google search for them.
In the meantime how does a hundred FREE effects, transitions and generators sound?
If you are prepared to spend a couple of hours (Broadband speed) exploring these sites you will find them:-
    http://fxscript.org/plugins.html
    http://www.chv-plugins.com/
    http://www.cgm-online.com/eiperle/cgm_e.html
    http://www.lyric.com/fcp-plugins/

    http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/review_sapphire_fcpdouglas.html
    http://www.mattias.nu/plugins/
Though it says FCPro they all work with FCE. Each site has at least one free plugin amongst numerous commercial ones and some sites have ten or more.

  • Plug-Ins for Logic Express 9

Does anyone know of any sites where one can download plug-ins for Logic Express 9 (either for free or for purchase)? Also, I know that one can use sound fonts (.au) with GarageBand --do these also work in Logic Express 9 and, if so, do they need to be reinstalled for Logic or do both programs read the same source files?
    Thank you!

To piggy back on previous posts, I would definitely pursue Native Instruments. While some may of the plug-ins may seem a bit on the pricey side, you will certainly get your money's worth. If you're looking for strong lead and bass sounds, I would encourage you to check out Massiv - it's my go-to plug-in of choice. I believe there is even a limited demo to try if you want to play around before purchasing.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can anyone recommend plug-ins for vocals?

Can anyone recommend plug-ins for vocals? I'm looking for an average "radio" sound. How can I get that?
    Thanks
    Anya
imac 20 inch 2 gig Ram   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   apogee + miroslav + looking for great midi controler

    well
    Let's start again:
I use imac and ensemble by apogee as my audio
interface with and rode ntk microphone. that should
give me a preatty decent sound, but it comes out
    kinda hollow and unnatural.
    Hi AnyaS,
It seems like the room you are in might be adding it's "sound" and making your vocal sound like it is going through a tunnel,or "hollow" sounding.
Where are you doing your vocal recording? When you sing,do you hear your voice come back at you funny, like from a wall,or like you hear a faint "echo" or repeat in the room?
I could help you,but without actually listening what you are talking about it is almost impossible to know what problems you might be encountering, and also if you can point to a reference CD or artist that you are trying to sound like,I can't really give you concise advise as to what to do to get you there.Do you have any way of showing us some of the sound you are getting so we can listen to it? That can help a lot more than describing in words what you are not liking about your voacl sound.Again a lot of this is subjective use of language,so when you say "hollow sound" it could mean something else to me.
And as to the radio quality - I mean sound more round
and defined - someting that I could send to radio
    and/or AR.
Well,I think you are putting the cart ahead of the horse here...try to get your sound "there" to where you like it first, before trying to be judged by "radio and A&R" people.
I am not sure how I can improve:
    - better/additional hardware or
    - better mastering/playing with software (I have IK
studio bundle - that I have only utilized so far as
    sound source).
I am willing to spend additional $1000 if needed but
    rather not.
I think you do not need to throw money at the problem...that never usually works. It is better to understand what sound you want to get first, and then try to get there.
I'll listen to what you have posted, but if you can have a link to a vocal without ANY processing,i.e. as you record it in your usual place, that would help more than a full mix of your music.I can tell easier what to do if your vocal is by itself.
you can listen to working draft here:
    www.broadjam.com/aannaa
sorry I don't know how to create a link here.
    Thank you for your help.

    no problem,

  • Looking for good "Lower Third" plug ins for Final Cut

Does anybody have any sources for good "Lower Third" plug-ins for Final Cut Studio?

Why deny yourself the joy and pleasure to create your own,
It is far easier and faster than it may sound. Use a combination of applications like Motion, FCP, AE, Photoshop etc.
Use the tools don't make them use you. Manuals, the forums and a few selected tutorials can help you if you feel not confident with any of the software mentioned, but if you are passioned enough there's nothing more rewarding that learning while nurturing your creativity.
Just thought you may want to consider that as an option,

  • How can I add my software in Adobe's Third-party plug-ins for Adobe Premiere Pro ?

    Hi,
Our company have a software called Moyea Importer for Adobe Premiere.
Moyea Importer for Adobe Premiere is a recommended FLV, MPG, RMVB, HD  video import plugin for Adobe Premiere Pro. This plug-in enables users  to import FLV videos with various codec like AVC/H.264, AAC, Screen  Video, Nellymoser, MP3, PCM, and Sorenson H.263. Besides FLV video, the  plug-in allows AVCHD import and HD video import in MTS, M2TS, TP, TS,  and MKV formats.
Moyea Importer for Adobe Premiere do not convert your video so it keeps  video quality for you. The plug-in automatically detects the Adobe Premiere versions on your  machine and you can choose the versions to install the plug-in. It  currently supports Adobe Premiere Pro 1.0/1.5/2.0/CS3/CS4 and Elements  3.0/4.0/7.0/8.0.
I notice in Third-party plug-ins for Adobe Premiere Pro this part, Adobe didn't get any such plug-ins. They only have two file support plug-ins and Moyea Importer can fill the blank.
Now I want to submit this software on Adobe's site but I don't know where to submit or who I should to contact. Any suggestions? I really need your help and I am sure it is really good software.

Any suggestion? Admin of this board? Who can help me

  • How do I get administrative priveleges to install optional plug-ins for cs5

how do I get administrative priveleges to install optional plug-ins for cs5 and or how to install these optional plugins thanks

To add to Mylenium's reply, here's how to do it on Windows and this is what microsoft website says:
Why do I have to be an administrator to install a program?
Only administrators can make changes that will affect everyone who uses the computer, such as installing software and hardware and changing security settings.
If the program you are trying to install or run says you  must have administrator rights, but you are already an administrator on the computer, right-click the installation icon for the program, and then click Run as administrator. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
If the program installs but does not run, right-click the program icon, click Properties, click the Compatibility tab, select the Run this program as an administrator check box, and then try to run the program.

I installed Nik:s suite of plug-ins for LR5 but for some reason not all of them were installed. In the end I uninstalled all of the Nik programs from my Mac but before I reinstalled them I opened LR5 again to check. Under "photo" and "edit in" the plug-ins were still presented but no programs opened, of course. after reinstalling the plug-ins one of the programs appeared twice in the list but not the others. I´m going to reinstall them again and I´m wondering if there is anyway of erasing the links to the plug-ins under "photo" and "edit in" ???

Wow that was really quick, thank you so much.  Im not sure at all which version it was because i said it was around 4 years ago he bought it.  I know it isn't under his username, since he's a PC person (ugh) so i know its probably registered to one of our actual names.  isn't there some way to look it up since we did register it, because I'm not even sure where the disks are from when we bought it (we've moved a lot and also have two storage lockers, i know i would have kept it with other disks) but my cd rom drive is actually broken on my computer as well ( i think it got stepped on and is now squished and won't eject or run disks.)
So is there anyway they can look up that its registered to one of our names since we did register it when we bought and installed it, or do i really have to find the disk with some sort of proof of purchase (i know there would be no receipt after all this time)
either way, ill do what you suggested to the best of my abilities and thank you so much for answering my questions, i can't even open the program as its incompatible and find out the info from that) so I'm in a bit of a pickle and your response was so thorough and it didn't seem to be posted long enough to even write a well researched response, thanks, all the best,

    October 28, 2011
If you missed our mail last month you should check it out as it got a lot of people talking. Today we have a follow-up.
Our web site has relaunched* and while the overall look of the site is similar there is a dramatic difference in how we are distributing our plug-ins.
Starting today Pro Import AE, Pro Import FCP and Pro Export FCP (both versions, for FCP7 and FCPX) are available at no charge. You read this right. Free.
We are unable to provide support at the same level as we have over the years, but we didn't want these plug-ins to go away while they remain useful. So if you can make use of these plug-ins in your projects, enjoy!
Thank you to all of our users, working with you for the last 10 1/2 years was a truly wonderful experience.

I don't have anything to add to my original reply - http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1433512. Which bit didn't you understand? And no, you don't need a folder for kaleidoscopes - you just put it in the filters folder as I originally told you.
    And here's a kaleidoscoped sunflower

  • Nokia offers FREE plug-ins for some devices not supported by iSync 2.4

Nokia is now offering free plug-ins for otherwise unsupported Nokia mobile handsets in Mac OS X 10.4.9 and iSync 2.4 configurations. All support both Bluetooth and USB synchronization, and work only with Mac OS X 10.4.9 and iSync 2.4, bundled with it. The plug-ins listed below can be downloaded from Nokia here:
    http://www.nokia.com/A4299040
    Supported models include the…
    • E50
    • E60
    • E61i
    • E65
    • E70
    • N76
    • N93i
    • N95

That's a good point, and I should have taken the time to point that out.
It's not particularly important that Nokia has chosen to offer free plug-ins for a limited number of their mobile handsets not presently supported by iSync. The really important thing here is that a manufacturer has actually chosen to support the technology at all!
I do support a vibrant developer community, and think that Nova Media and others who have taken the time to create plug-ins and, who continue to support them, deserve to be compensated for their efforts. It worth noting that Nova Media was out front with support for Nokia mobile handsets about a year before Nokia itself chose to offer support. And, as Jan points out, they continue to support units that Nokia itself does not.
