Wimatta,
i think you can start here:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/tech/tk331/tk336/technologies_configuration_example09186a00801434cd.shtml
this is an example describing dlsw local switching between sdlc and ethernet. It has configuration examples for both pu2.0 and pu2.1.
Note:
Your example says in the description PU 2.1 but the configuration example you provided is for PU 2.0.
thanks...

  • 2 Adaptive Limiter in series circuit - do they work properly that way?

A few days ago, I noticed that the Adaptive Limiter plugin does crazy
things. Thats the setup I used:
    A:
    - audio channel with audio file with full volume level range (0dB)
    - channel volume set 0dB
    - Adaptive Limiter included, all controller set 0db, only out-celling set -2dB
    B:
    - stereo output with channel volume set 0dB
    - Adaptive Limiter included, all controller set 0db, only out-celling set -0.5dB
The audio material in A is limited by the Adaptive Limiter to -2dB and routed to B.
If I play the audio file from A, by switching the Adaptive Limiter in stereo output to "bypass", the maximum stereo output volume level remains -2dB.
If I play the audio file from A while all Adaptive Limiter are activated (in A and B), the maximum stereo output volume level is -0.5dB.
Only by switching the stereo output limiter to "bypass", the stereo output volume level remains -2dB.
How could it be that the Adaptive Limiter in B raises the volume level of A (-2dB) to -0.5dB that way? do they work properly that way?
    Signalfloh

If I understand it all correctly, the Out Ceiling parameter seems to work as an expander ? Even if you throw -2dB at it, the second one pulls it up to -0.5?
I wouldn't have expected that, no, I thought it was just a brickwall setting, especially with the word "ceiling" used. From what I understand of your setup it seems to work like some sort of normalisation.
Why have you created this setup? Just to test? And, more importantly, what kind of audio did you throw at it? A test tone, or a (musical) track with (wide) dynamics?
And why do you say it does "crazy" things? You can only conclude that if you somehow know how it is supposed to work, right? I'm surprised at what (you describe) happens, I think it is unexpected, but not necessarily "crazy".
To really observe this from all angles, I think you need to insert three level meters: one as the very first plugin (before any AL), one after the first and before the 2nd AL and one after the second. LM>AL>LM>AL>LM

  • When I plug my iPad into a wall circuit and leave it for 18 hours the battery level only goes from 55% to 66% and then it quotes charging. Is this normal or do I have trouble with my adapter, it is the one that came with the iPad?

When I plug my Ipad into a wall circut it will not fully charge, It only charges up to 66% does anyone no why?

I can't tell you why it is doing this but it should not take anywhere near that long to recharge.
Try another power adapter if you have access to one - borrow one from a friend, try another wall socket, another cable ... take it to an Apple Store and let them try to charge it for you.
You can try resetting the iPad and see if that helps but I have my doubts - but it will not hurt anything either.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Your battery gauge may be giving you an incorrect reading - but I think that would be a long shot as well. How many hours of use do you get at 66%?
You can read this about the iPad battery and how to maintain and care for the battery. .

    Use Your iPad Regularly
For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).

  • DLSw circuit question

    Hello forum,
there is a strange behaviour of a dlsw connection that I wish to discuss here.
We had (long time ago) established a dlsw connection between two mainfrmes, one had an OSA T/R adapter and the other a 3745 in front. This circuit was up and running and soon we "forgot" about it. No problems were ever reported.
Some months ago, we changed the T/R OSA to Ethernet OSA. Again, doing all necessary changes, the sessions were established ok. But we notice a strange behaviour. Every morning, the PU is in a strange state, either pending or conct and we have to vary inact/act the PU so that the sessions can be established. After about 1 to 2 minutes everyhing is ok.
We do not have taken any traces or displays, but I wanted to ask, is it something to do with the dlsw circuit between the two MAC addresses (ETH OSA and 3745) dropping through the night?
Is there any time limit that an established circuit is active?
    Can we change this time?
During night, of course there is no activity between the two mainframes, so we guess a timer expires and the PU needs reactivation.
    HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

I am trying to connect the following config:
    IBM Host A <-OSA-> Ethernet <--> router <-- Serial --> IP Cloud (FR / ??) <--> FEP (with FR support) <--> IBM Host B.
IBM Host A runs CICS App, Terminals connected to the FEP on the IBM Host B side logon to CICS App on IBM Host A.
The person before me designed the connection using FRAS. After a few weeks of trying, I found out it won't work.
Based on the scanning throught this forum it seems that I can do this by using dlsw such as:
IBM Host A <-OSA-> Ethernet <--> router (DLsw) <-- Serial --> IP Cloud (FR / ??) <--> router (DLsw) <--> FEP (with FR support) <--> IBM Host B.
Since I am new to the network, I need a bit more help on the config on the IBM HOST A (VTAM XCA), both dlsw routers and the FEP on IBM Host B.
Also at the moment the link is Frame-relay (direct). Can the IBM Host A with OSA card and the 2 dlsw routers able to utilise the same frame-relay link or we have to get another type of wan link?

  • SDLC PU 2.0 and SNAsw

    Hi all,
I would like to connect a 3174 controller on my roouter as follows:
    3174---[SDLC on serial]---RTR---[SNAsw using HPR/IP]---OSA on MVS.
    i have 3 questions:
1/ the 3174 use LLC2. So do i use sdllc command instead of sdlc command ?
    2/ do i implement sdlc/sdllc xid C1 <IDBLK_IDNUM>?
2/ my MVS engineer said me that EE do not understand that SNA over LLC2 using SNAsw from router?
If it is possible, what is the VTAM configuration...
    Thanks for answers

    Hi ,
thanks it works. Therefore, i got an error when i simulate a VTAM crash.

  • Does anyone other than Apple make a Mini-DVI to VGA adapter?

I didn't know what other forum to post this in, but it's a proven fact that if anyone else made them, it would be half the price and twice the quality.
    Does anyone else make them?

To a point you are correct. The problem is when some things get released two bit companies jump in and build stuff that isn't up to par. Then there are very reliable companies that do make products better than OEM equipment
I would like to see someone make a cable instead of the adapter. It would be very nice to have a 6 foot Mini DVI to DVI cable instead of the adapter and a cable plugged into that.

  • New iMAC to Dell 3008 using Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter

I just brought the new iMAC 27" iCore7. Previously I was using old MBP with dual link DVI to DELL 3008 and they did fine.
But Today I connect the Dell 3008 to my new iMAC using Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter...They could not work properly...
The dell shows images in red with flickers....
I've contacted the phone for help...and they said nothing could be done????!!!!!
    Anyone could help??

    just update my progress...
I had made calls to Apple technical support center in HONG KONG for help...
To my surprise...they even did not understand what I was saying(Or just pretending...)....One interesting guy said I could take the new iMAC back to service center to change the 4850 display card to older version...or call DELL for help!!!!!

I was almost hopeless until I found a minidisplay port to display port cable in Circuit Assembly:
    http://estore.circuitassembly.com/products/Mini-Displayport-to-Displayport-Adapt er-Cable.html
    ONLY $14.95 !!
They sent the cable to me in 3 days time...and I hooked it up right away when I received it today...my Dell 3008 could display 2560 x 1600 normally again!!!!!
The problem is: Apple is still selling its FUNCTIONLESS Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter at high costing....sounds like cheating others....
What' s wrong with the Apple nowadays???

  • IMac to tv with hdmi short circuit

I have my iMac (Intel) connected to my Sony tv with an hdmi adapter.  It works fine except that sometimes the iMac seems to short circuit and turn off.  I read once that my cable may not be appropriate but then I lost that info.  Can anyone help?

For the "Arangements" option to appear, the external display must be turned on with the correct input selected and connected to the computer.  Then close system prefs, reopen, go to "Display" and "Arrangement" will be along the top.

  • Grounded/Earthed vs Ungrounded/Unearthed plugs on MacBook power adapter

My MacBook comes with both a grounded extension cable and an unearthed plug. Also, there is a travel kit available with all kinds of adapters for international outlets, both earthed and unearthed, depending on the system.
    1. Is there any reason to use the cable vs the plug while in the US, provided the outlet is properly wired?
    2. Is there any reason to run my own ground wire when living abroad, while using the proper adapters and converters and using a properly wired outlet?
    3. Is there any benefit to buying Apple's expensive travel kit vs a much cheaper universal adapter?
I have a pocket multimeter that I carry in my suitcase to actually check for proper wiring. I have a little plug-in circuit tester too, but it is only useful in ~110V systems with B-type plugs. I used to be an electricians assistant and I know how to do basic wiring, but I really have no clue why we do it, especially when it comes to ground.

It keeps the green light on for a while after I unplug it from the notebook. The scratched part is extension from the old adapter.

  • Ac travel adapter

Hello, Ive been searching all over the place, but cant find a direct answer for this.
I have bought about 1,5 years ago the slim ac charger. Everything went well, untill last night. For some reason my mp3 player which i charged over usb died. Most likely a short circuit on the mp3 player (old one anyway). The problem is that my ac slim adapter isnt working at all anymore. I think i found the solution, and it is the last part
this one to be precise. Now how can i make SURE that it is broken? i can still measure a steady 5 volts from the device before this one, and a 20 volt from the device before that one.
Also, where can i get a new one? I have not been able to find this on the support section of lenovo at all (which was very confusing to use i have to admit).
    Thanks in advance! Elmar

Call up Lenovo warranty and quote the part number of that powerhub adapter, ask them whether they have any for sale. You may also get away with the 57Y4595.

  • Hp pavillion dv9700 won't start with Ac adapter plugged in

    Dear all,
I have a 3 year old hp pavillion dv9700. The problem is that the computer won't turn on when i remove the batteries and leave the Ac adapter plugged in. The led that indicates that the adapter is plugged in is on, so that means that the adapter is working fine. But to be sure, I used another Ac adapter from another dv9700.
The next thought I had that the problem might be the Ac jacket( that is connected to the motherboard ). So I dismantled 2 dv9700 laptops (one is mine, the otherone from a friend, which is by the way working fine), and toke out the Ac jacket from the laptop that was working oke and replaced it with mine(whIch wasn't booting with the Ac adapter). And still the same problem. So now I am able to say that there is something wrong with thE motherboard.
When ever I plug in a battery that is not empty, the laptop starts up normally. The other thing that noticed is that whenever I plug in the battery the led of the Ac jacket turns on (not full bright, but somewhat dimmed). This doesn't happen normally. That means that there is somewhere a short circuit on the motherboard.
I have looked all over the internet, but wasn't able to find someone who had the same problem as me, or a solution for it.
Ps. It has nothing to do with the video card, because if that was the case, it wouldn't even start with the batteries.
    Already thanks, kdeo2k

  • Doesn't recognize the power adapter. Have replaced battery and PRAM.

    Howdy,
I'm having a devil of a time with my Powerbook. It won't recognize a power adapter.
    It won't charge my battery.
Won't run when plugged into the power adapter.
The only way it works is for me to charge my battery in my girlfriend's Powerbook and then sprint through any work I try to get done.
I've replaced the PRAM with twice. (one i bought and the other I took from my girlfriend's which I 100% know to work) It didn't make a difference.

My sanity is going on this.

    Welcome to the Apple discussions.
There's only 4 components in the charging circuit: power adapter, DC-in card, battery, and logic board. Do you know for a fact that your power adapter is working? If yes, then not running on the power adapter says either the DC-in card is bad (the card that has the jacks on the left side of the computer) or it's a logic board issue. Is the female jack where you plug the power adapter in visibly damaged, loose, or the case around the socket damaged? If the socket is wiggly loose, likely a new DC-in card is in order. Does the power adapter light up at all when you plug it in?
We had a similar, but not exact, situation recently on one of our Powerbooks, and ended up taking it to the Apple store, where they sent it to the Apple depot for repair. They replaced the logic board and put a new battery in. The Depot service returns the machine with anything needing repair, repaired. If everything is in good physical order, ie the case isn't damaged, it costs around $325, which is less than getting a new logic board put in at the store. If the case is damaged, a trip to the Apple depot costs more. A new DC-in card card + installation by Apple runs around $130, give or take. Used DC-in cards run around $75-$95 if you want to install it yourself.

  • Requested circuit/channel not available

    Hello,
I have a problem with a PRI link. We have installed CCM 3.3(3) and a 3745 with a PRI link to the telco. The 3745 is configured as a MGCP gateway. When I try to initiate an outbound call, I get the following Q931 debug message:

When I try an inbound call I get a busy signal, and a similar debug message (if I use another router to initiate that ISDN call).
This is the "show ISDN state" screen:

So I presume there is nothing wrong with the signalization??
I contacted the telco person, and he told be that he sees some kind of BLOCKING state on our side of the PRI link.

  • Safe Output Rating for 240V USB adapter to charge my IPod Touch4.

Is it safe to use a 240V USB adapter I have for my camera that has an Output rating of 4.4V  400mA to charge my new IPod Touch4?  I note that similar comercial (non Apple) products that claim to be compatible with the IPod Touch4 have a rating of 5V 1A.  I would be grateful for any advice on this subject.

I have to say that the likelyhood anyone being able to "confirm" almost anything on a public forum is remote.
    I can tell you though;
a lower voltage than the one required will not damage an iPod. However, a lower voltage may not provide enough "energy" (voltage potential, or EMF) to push the current around the circuit. So it wouldn't work.
A higher voltage than the one required could possibly burn the electronics inside the iPod. One completely broken iPod.
A charger that does not provide enough current may either charge slowly or not at all. I still believe 400mA is not enough, especially if it has a low output voltage as well.
The iPod should draw only the current it requires, so one that supplies more than enough current will not damage it. However, personally, I would not use a charger that supplied (for example) 2400mA, with an iPod.
Considering the cost of your iPod, isn't it wiser to spend a little money now, on either an Apple charger or at the very least, a proper 5 volt USB charger that supplies more than enough current (the mA), rather than coughing up for a new iPod because the charger you used damaged the iPod?
Actually, two questions you can answer, which might help.
What make is this camera charger anyway?
Does it have a recognised (proper) USB output connection?
You say that you have three opposing views. In fact, all three of us are effectively saying don't use this charger. Perhaps we have confused you by trying to explain it.

I need some help if you can. I have this monitor cable already, but I need the little adapter that connects to this so I can connect that to my Apple Multiscan 15” display.
I’m guessing that the adapter that connects to this is a 15 pin male (on both ends). The back of the monitor has a 15 pin female. Would where I can find it and how much

Turns out you will not need either one of the adapters we suggested.  What you need is the Cable, HDI45 to DB15, Display Adapter.  Visit this site to take a look at it:

The 15" MS monitor will plug right into the LC 475.  The 6100/7100/8100 series of computers adopted a different high density monitor connection.  If you look at the top adapter, Cable, Adapter, 45-Pin, you will see all the components that were built into the HDI45 plug.  That octapus cable is the opposite of what you need for your multi-sync monitor.  Fortunately, that style of HDI died in one generation.
You said that the monitor on the LC475 is dead.  Maybe not.  First, look here to make sure we are talking about the same computer:

Try this trick.  Turn the computer on at the power switch.  Leave it on for ten seconds to load the capacitors and all, then turn the switch off and back on quickly.  That might wake up the video circuit to the monitor.  Details on why later if you want to know.  A dead PRAM battery in a 610 or a 6100 will definately cause the monitor to not wake up.  But, rather than buy a new battery for a computer you never intend to use on a daily basis, use the on-off-on trick and save the five bucks for something else.
Yes you can network the computers if you want to go to that trouble.  Doing it 'headless' would not be easy.  You have to configure the network from both ends.  If the non-fruit colored iMac is new enough then you will not need a crossover cable.  It will auto detect.  If it is too new, you will have appletalk issues to deal with.
If you are near a large city with a Mac user group, you might just borrow a SCSI zip drive and a USB zip drive.  A platinum G3 would also be nice.  You can find them for $5 at recyclers.  The original G3s will take both SCSI drives and IDE drives in the same case.
Options abound.  If you are going to buy an ethernet cable, it means you do not have one.  Explore other options while you are at it.  If you are in the NW, we can give the name and street address of where to buy cables for $1, zip drives for $2 and G3s for $5.  Good luck.
