VTC through PIX Firewall IP

We have IP VTC going from a Tandberg Video Conferencing bridge to a distant Tandberg and it was dropping because of the Timeout settings to I increased the timeouts and it was fine but now it intermittently fails anyone seen this before.

Are you using a gateway or border controller in network? send the details of the current problem along with a "show run" & "show version" from your PIX.

    Varun,
    Thank you for your help.
I have one quick question, this pix is not in failover, it is standalone but it has Unrestricted license. It only has 64Mb of Ram. Will I have any problems based on your link recommendation?
    Memory Requirements:
If you are using a PIX 515/515E running PIX Version 6.2/6.3, you must increase your memory before upgrading to PIX Version 8.0(2). This version requires at least 64 MB of RAM for Restricted (R) licenses and 128 MB of RAM for Unrestricted (UR) and Failover (FO) licenses
What is the difference between the restricted Licenses and the Unrestricted Licenses?
    Thanks!

  • I am behind a Cisco PIX Firewall. What addresses and ports do I need to permit through to allow Firefox updates?

I want to be able to upgrade my Firefox installations that are located behind a Cisco PIX Firewall. What are the TCP/IP addresses and ports required to be opened for updating to occur?

This is less likely to be a firefox problem, as it appears something bad has happened to your network. Can you access the internet with other programs? Try email/ IRC/ Skype or even updating your computer.
What operating system are you using?

  • PIX Firewall 525 can not start

    Hi,
Today my colleague add 2 lines of access-list to our PIX 525.  After 10 minutes, my firewall was rebooted and until now can't start.  The booting process as listed below.
    The questions are :
    1. What is my OS version? Flash?
    2. How to remove those 2 lines (reset the config to default)?
    3. How to solve the issue?
    Thanks,

  • Streaming WMT (netshow) through PIX with Cache Engine

    Hello:
I am trying to stream WMT from a pre-loaded Cache engine through a PIX firewall. I would like to use UDP for the streaming, but when I start the streaming TCP is selected by default. Forcing UDP within Windows causes an error. The PIX doesn't allow the UDP traffic through since it didn't originate from the inside. Outside the firewall UDP only works if I force it. TCP is the default. First, is UDP the best way to do this or is TCP ok since it is comming from the Cache engine? Second, how can I change the Cache engine setup to default to UDP or is this not possible?
    Thank you,
    Hampton Saussy
    Midlands Technical College

We had a similar issue. If the firewall is not configured to accept TCP ports, then the streaming video server will perform HTTP cloaking i.e Instead of using the TCP ports it will use HTTP port 80 to get through the firewall, then the server sends the streaming video data via UDP. If UDP cannot pass through the firewall, the client requests delivery via TCP. The fixup rtsp command lets PIX Firewall pass RTSP (Real Time Streaming Protocol) packets. This command does not fix RTSP UDP connections. So I guess using TCP is a better option.

  • PPTP through PIX timeout?

We have a customer that has internal clients connecting to an outside PPTP server through a PIX firewall.
PPTP setup works fine, but after 3 minutes the PPTP connection goes down. We are sure the PIX is the problem.
The PIX is configured for PAT, because the customer has only 1 public IP adres. Fixup PPTP 1723 is configured.
Does anyone know why this happens and how we can fix this?

    Hi all.
    We have same problem.
Throgh PIX pptp sessions end after few minutes... while through other connections (other firewall, direct connection to internet and so on...) remain up properly...
We have pix 7.0(2) release (we can't upgrade to 7.0(4) because with this release pptp sessions don't work at all....
    Thanks

  • Portal access through a firewall

    Hi there!
Having the default installtion of R2 on a single W2K box, what's the minimal procedure to make this configuration available through a firewall?
I've opened ports 7777-7778 but fail when trying to logon via SSO (host.domain.com:7777/pls/orasso)
Have I missed out to open another port or am I forced to follow the steps of setting up a reversing proxy to have portal-access outside the firewall?
    Cheers
    /Staffan

If they are on different servers, then both are listening on the 7777 port, and you will have to change one of them to use another port (assuming your firewall can only port forward a port to only one host).
If you are running both instances on the same server, then your SSO is accessible via 7777 and your midtier would be on 7778, so your setup as described should be enough (I do the same thing).
If they are running on the one machine, can you access the SSO/INF server directly? http://inf.domain.com:7777 and then http://inf.domain.com:7777/pls/orasso ?

  • Solaris 10 ssh through a firewall

I have Solaris 10 up and running on an HP Vectra. Everything is fine until I attempt to ssh through my firewall from the outside world.
I can ssh from my linux systems on the lan. But when I attempt to ssh from outside using either putty or ssh on another solaris 10 system the connection times out.
Anyone else experience a similar problem? Many thanks in advance.

It's hard to tell what's going on without some more information. Here're a few things you can try:
Run "ssh localhost" from the Solaris box and make sure that works.
ssh to the Solaris box from another box on the same network segment.
From the site that doesn't work, do "ssh -v solaris_box" and see if that gives you any clues.
After trying to ssh from outside, do a "netstat -an |grep -i '*.22' and see the state of the TCP connection
(or if the first packet never even makes it).
Run sshd on the Solaris box with with the "-d" debug option.

  • Workstation Clients through a Firewall

Does anyone out there know if there are any issues with workstation clients going
    through a firewall?
    Thanks!
    mervin

We have done it successfully from NT to a Unix server over afirewall. Its a case
of getting the WSNADDR set up correctly.
use the -H option in the WSL entry in ubb config shows to set it up.
    eg
    CLOPT="-A -- -d /dev/tcp -n 0x0002nnnnxxxxxxxx -H 0x0002MMMMyyyyyyyy"
Where nnnn is a port number
xxxxxxxx is the true hex IP address of the server
yyyyyyyy is the firewall hex address of the server
    MMMM is fixed.
WSNADDR on the PC is set to port number and firewall address.
I know the hex notation is a bit out of date these date but it works fine for
    us.
    Hope it helps

  • Whenever I try to open up Firefox, it says that it's unable to connect, however, my internet connection is fine and I can still open up Internet Explorer. I already allowed Firefox through my firewall.

My internet connection is fine, I already allowed Firefox through my firewall. This is the first time it had ever happened and it happened suddenly, out of nowhere.

Try "Firefox connection settings" in [[Server not found]]
You can find the connection settings in Tools > Options > Advanced : Network : Connection<br />
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then select No Proxy
You can also try to remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.
    See:
    * [[Server not found]]
    * [[Firewalls]]

  • PIX firewall 525 on Voice Network for 5000 CC calls

    Dear all ,
can some one suggest me will it be recommended to use PIX firewall 525 on Voice ( sip ) network for 5000 CC to 1000 CC calls in signaling mode since our server are using public IP so will i be able to use it without NAT / PAT also will there be any issue of QOS .
    Regards

    Sohail,
If your idea is to add some security between your devices the PIX will work fine (I will prefer and ASA since it can run the latest software). The quality of your voice traffic shouldn't be impacted by the PIX.

  • Endpoint on DMZ interface (through the firewall)

    Hi
I have an ASA which connects to a BT Inifinty router. The address on the outside interface is dynamic. BT provide us with 5 static addresses (No NAT 5) which are routed to the outside interface but are a different subnet.
I would like to terminate the site to site  VPN using one of the static IP addresses rather than the outside dynamic address.
Can I NAT the public static address to the DMZ interface (or any interface for that matter) and terminate the VPN on that interface i.e. the firewall is terminated through the firewall?

  • BorderManager and Pix Firewall

    Hello,
Just implemented NSBS6.5 for a small bank with Pix firewall's inner IP

  • IDS,ASA,PIX firewall monitoring and optimizing

    Dear All,
Please let me know the products from Cisco to monitor and optimize the IDS, ASA, PIX firewall in the data centre and corporate networking environment.
I believe that VMS 2.3 can be used.I like to know about the CS-MARS product from Cisco and its usage.
    Thanking you
    Swamy

    Hi,
CS-MARS is a security product that mainly used to analyse, correlates and produce/recommed mitigation action based on the log analysis.
You need to send your syslog, snmp or NetFlow to CS-MARS from all/selected network devices in the network to enable it to have visibility of the network activities. It has built-in signatures or rules that trigger incidents, and allows you can create your own rule to monitor certain segment or devices. Notification is available in the form of email, sms, pager, snmp and syslog.
CS-MARS does not replace the function of IDS/IPS or antivirus, but as a critical security complimentary product to allow you to stop any detected malicious incidents/activities from a nearest point, e.g shutting down switch port where a PC is detected trying to launch network attack, virus or trojans. The concept more or less similar to 'Forward Defense' used by certain country today.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/ps6241/products_data_sheet0900aecd80272e64.html
CS-MARS is measured by its capabilities to handle received Event and Netflow logs per second. This include the HDD capacity. You can have single unit (Local Controller) or multiple unit that centrally managed by Global Controller.
CS-MARS support wide range of networking and security products.
