VXIpc-872 freezes after restart or after BIOS update save
I have a VXIpc-872 Slot 0 Controller. Unit will boot windows NT from Cold start, but performing a windows restart or following any BIOS modifications the controller freezes. Only get a solid black screen. Power OFF has been the only way to clear it.
Any thoughts on what might be wrong?
Hi Jason,
We have a really good Developer Zone article on the subject, you can find it here.

Recovered files gone after restarting Muse after Update
Muse quit unexpectedly while I was working on several websites in that were in recovery mode. When I restarted Muse, it told me that an update was available. After restarting Muse after the update, it did not attempt to recover the files that I was working on. Are the changes that I made lost forever, or can I find them stored somewhere on my computer? I have a current time machine back up. Will that be helpful?
Muse does not recover files from older versions of Muse.
The Muse team recommends you save any work in progress before updating Muse to a new version.
If you have a timemachine backup of the recovery files and the unsaved changes are important to you, you should be able to recover them by doing the following:
1. Look for the Muse recovery files in your time machine backup. They should be here:
/Users/your-user-name/Library/Preferences/AdobeMuse/Local Store/Recovery
Restore that folder to just before you did the update to Muse version 6.
2. Uninstall/delete Muse 6
3. Install Muse version 5.0 from here: http://labsdownload.adobe.com/pub/adobemuse/builds/muse_5-0_update_mac.dmg
4. Launch Muse version 5. Do not update. It should recover your files.
5. Save your file(s)
6. quit Muse, launch again, update to version 6. -
B75MA-E33 - long time to post after installing most recent bios update
I installed the bios update from the product page for this motherboard and flashed it directly from the utility within the bios. It installed fine, but after installing this update the post time has increased from about 10 seconds to anywhere between one and five minutes. It sits on the screen with the "A2" code in the bottom right corner before loading the msi splash screen. I searched the forum but didn't see anyone else reporting this. Anyone have any idea what's causing this? I verified that the settings in the bios haven't changed.

Solution? Thanks? This is not your thread. Topic starter has been asked to post system details.
I guess you misunderstood my post. What I was that I have a similar motherboard and I was planning on updating the BIOS.He reported about this issue and I'm thankful to him for that. -
ThinkPad S230u won't wake up after IRST sleep since BIOS update
I am using S230u (i7 CPU, 8GB RAM, 500GB HDD+24GB SSD) with Windows 8 x64 for half a year now and so far everything has worked just fine.
I have IRST enabled and when I put it in sleep mode, it automatically saves the state to SSD after an hour. That has worked great so far - I can put it to sleep for short periods and get it up instantly and if I put it to sleep for longer it will save to SSD and not use battery - when I wake it up, it flashes the red LED for a while and system comes back online.
However, this Friday I installed BIOS update - updated from 1.57.1.57 to 1.61.1.61 (at least according to System Update history).
Since Friday when I try to wake it up it does not work if the sleep is longer than an hour (or so) and the state was stored to SSD. The red led keeps flashing, but nothing happens - after around 1-2 minutes the system reboots and Windows loads again.
I want to downgrade the BIOS and doublecheck that this is the issue - perhaps it is some other Windows or Lenovo patch, so I want to be sure.
I have already located the BIOS drivers downloads (http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS032000) and am wondering if downgrading BIOS to check if this is the issue can break anything with my laptop?
Solved!
Go to Solution. We are working on the BIOS defect that causes this failure. I'm very sorry for this inconvenience.
While downgrading the BIOS is a possible work-around, my advice is to simply disable the 30-Day standby feature in Lenovo Settings, until the new BIOS to fix this issue is released. -
My HP Envy touch screen stopped working after getting an HP Bios update yesterday
Can someone please tell me how to fix my touch screen. I received an HP BIOS update which caused my touch screen to stop working. I've tried re-calibrating it but it won't accept my touch which tells me the screen is no longer enabled.
I tried finding where to enable and could not find where to enable finger touch. I've also tried looking for driver updates and the driver appears to be up to date.
Thanks
This question was solved.
View Solution.I have a different type of TouchSmart, but this may work for you:
Press the Windows logo key + X (if using a Windows 8 computer -- if Windows 7, click the Start button, type Device Manager, and click Device Manager in the search results).
Select Device Manager from the list.
Click the little arrow next to Human Interface Devices to expand the list.
Click the touch screen driver (in my case, NextWindow Voltron Touch Screen).
Right-click, and select Enable from the list.
Click Yes if a dialog box asks if you are sure you want to enable the touch screen driver.
On some models, it isn't obvious which device in the list controls the touch screen. I have read in other posts that some people have fixed the problem by disabling and re-enabling each device.
If that does not work, you might try going to hp.com (http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html) and clicking Drivers & Downloads.
In the search field, enter your product name or number, and then click Go. Select your operating system from the drop-down list under Select your operating system, and then click Next. If there are any available graphics drivers under Select a download below, click the plus sign next to Driver - Graphics, and then click the driver name. In the Download options and information window, click Download . Follow the onscreen directions to download the driver. Restart the computer.

Mac Pro freezes or restarts shortly after startup
Hello,
My Mac Pro has developed a habit of freezing (including mouse pointer) a while (some 10 minutes) after powering on the machine. After a forced restart the problem has disappeared for the rest of the day. On some days the computer spontaneously restarts a while after powering on and then the problem is more persistent, with the light on the front flashing and the machine not getting through powering up at all. What then helps is removing and putting back the video card. I have already replaced the video card with a new one, after which the problem had disappeared for several weeks, but now it is fully back again.
Several runs with TechTool Pro did not reveal any hardware problem.
Can someone advise on how to diagnose the freezes etc. or even how to solve it?
Below is an error report produced after a forced restart.
Thanks for any answers!

Boot issue after shutdown plus power - no problem after restart or after removing power cord
Hello,
I have a Pavilion Elite m9275.nl desktop. I experience boot issues after a regular shut down.
After a regular shut down and pressing the power button within a few seconds/minutes, it keeps hanging in the HP startup / BIOS screen, Windows 8 won't boot, the hard drive light doesn't flash;
After a restart from Windows (instead of shut down) it boots correctly from the c-drive. No hard-drive problems at all;
After a shut down and removing the power cord for 10-15 minutes, it boots correctly from the c-drive. No hard-drive problems at all.
When the PC does not boot, F10 (to enter BIOS settings) does not work neither, so it seems to be a hardware or BIOS issue.
I already replaced the CMOS battery and already loaded default BIOS settings.
During a succesful boot or after pressing F10 (to enter BIOS settings) the screen shows some disk information right after the BIOS. This is the screen that says something like "press CTRL-I to start configuration utility". During a succesful boot the hard disk light flashes shortly before displaying that screen. During an unsuccesful boot the hard disk doesn't flash.
Before replacing a hardware component, I need to know what to replace...
Could it be the hard disk controller or hard disk is defect?
Where is the hard disk controller stored?
Can I upgrade the firmware of the hard disk controller?
BUT: why does it work when I remove the power cord for 15 minutes or after a restart (instead of a shutdown and than pressing power)?
Many thanks in advance,
Sjoerd-Jaap Westrasjwestra

My iMac will not update to 10.6.8 even after clicking the restart button to update items. How can I update my iMac??
Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Sometimes the Software Update version doesn't work properly. If you can't install Mac OS X 10.6.8 from Software Update, install it through the Combo installer > http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1399
The Combo installer allows you to update multiple Macs with a single download. Also, it's safer because it gives less problems than a Software Update version -
Stay in Safe Boot AFTER RESTART to finish an update?
It's often been recommended here to do an OS update while in Safe Boot.
If you go this route wouldn't it make sense, since, as I understand it, *the installation is still finishing up after the restart*, to do the restart, when prompted, while remaining in Safe Boot? It seems an ordinary restart brings you back to the full OS, partially defeating the purpose of the Safe Boot.
Maybe it doesn't matter, after all, but if that sounds useful, how best to do that? Click OK on the restart button from the installation prompt, while holding down the shift key, or shutdown completely, ignoring the prompt, and then power up again holding the shift key down? Must you restart using the installation prompt?Great news!
You're mostly OK if you keep your Mac maintained once in awhile, you really don't have to be as anal as I am, unless you have untoward shutdowns or other strange happenings! -
GE60 0NC-006US Webcam not working after Win8 upgrade or BIOS update
So, I upgraded my GE60 to Windows 8 a couple of weeks back and decided to install Skype this past weekend. Upon opening Skype, I was told that no webcam could be found. I checked Device Manager and sure enough, no instance of a webcam or driverless device was detected. Now, I did apply the newest BIOS just before upgrading so I assume that could have broken it as well. I followed the BIOS directions given by the instructions provided on the driver page and everything else works. Furthermore, Live Update says I have the most current version. I am wondering what to do next. Should I reapply the BIOS or how can I find out if the laptop even detects the webcam? I mean, not being in Device Manager and even the Devices window, reverting back to 7 probably wouldn't help since Device Manager shows no instance, correct?

[SOLVED] Firefox won't open after restart..Until I updated everything
When I start my computer or reboot Firefox won't open unless I keep clicking the icon. I have it pinned to the task bar and it's set as default. when I click the icon it glows orange but then fades back to clear. sometimes as many as 15 - 20 times before it starts. I clean the temporary files every day with CCleaner. I'm not that computer smart but I haven't changed any settings and it was working perfectly until a few days ago. Once it opens I have o problems opening it and closing it
UPDATE:
I disabled the Facebook video call plug in updated all my Firefox stuff and it opened first tryThank you Alice It took me two years to get Firefox looking exactly how I wanted it. I'm not very good with computers. I thought I would have to start over. The strange thing is there was no indication of a problem. It just wouldn't open. Skype kept crashing my computer so I followed their instructions on removing everything in the registry. I remembered something about Facebook video chat being through Skype so it just made sense to disable it. I didn't even know I had it until I updated the rest of the stuff. I don't know if that was it but Firefox is working and that's what matters.

Z68a-gd65 boot loop after bios update using USB
Hi there,
My z68a-gd65 (G3) went into a boot loop after I did a bios update from a USB key that I installed using the latest BIOS version on the MSI site 7681vP8.zip
After the system restarted, it keeps booting up for 5 seconds and then shutting down, I removed all external devices and the Geforce GTX 550 Ti card and used the onboard card, but still no change...
Is there a way to set the board to factory defaults again???
MarcelHi there,
Maybe for others to solve the same problem, I found out what was the cause of this problem, I had a USB/Firewire card installed in the PC, after removing it the BIOS update could proceed from the USB stick as planned.
After the update though, my USB/firewire card can still not be installed back into the slot, because doing so will make the boot loop appear again, very odd!
Does anyone know why this new BIOS will not work with the card that has been inside my PC for 2 years???

Bluetooth OFF after restart / resume from sleep
Hi, i have problem with integrated Bluetooth in my T400s. If i start Windows from off state, BT is on and my BT mouse is connected correclty. But if i restart or go to sleep mode and back resume from sleep, BT stays OFF and i have to switch it on via Fn+F5. I tried to reinstall clean Windows 7 with all drivers through Lenovo System Update, but no solution. Does somebody have the same problem? Any idea?

Solved!
Go to Solution.Unbelivable, crazy things happens. You are right, problem is solved.
1 - 2 weeks ago i tried Ubuntu, not installed, just run from USB flash and look how new one looks like
2 - probably from that time integrated BT did not start after restart or resume from sleep - really strange (i have WWAn as well but i do not use it)
3 - i tried to disable I/O Access for all devices in BIOS and set back On - that did not help
4 - i have loaded default setting in BIOS by F9 and saved and after restart BINGO BT mobule works even after restart or after resume from Sleep.
It is really strange for me, but yeahh, crazy things happend.
Thanks.
