VZAccess Manager for MiFi4510L?

I'm caught between a rock and a hard place.  I can't get on My Verizon without them sending me a temp password in a text message.  I have a MiFi4510L, not a phone.  Customer Service says I need to use VZAccess Manager to be able to  read the text message.  I cannot find a version of VZAccess Manager that supports the 4510L.
Can anybody help?
Thanks.

Hi John_Getzke, your MiFi device is activated with a wireless number to use our network just like a wireless phone. You wouldn't have known that unless you have a order receipt or bill.  You can find the wireless number assigned by doing the following:
• While on WiFi, open an internet browser and go to http://192.168.1.1
• Enter your password in the login field (default is the password found on the back of device under the battery cover ).
• Click Advanced > Diagnostics and look for Phone No.
When you say trial, are you one of the trial users from the Google IO conference?  If so, those lines are activated under a demo account for the trial purpose and you won't be able to complete My Verizon registration for your own login.
If you are trialing during the 14 day return period, you can register once you follow the steps above to get your wireless number and go to www.verizonwireless.com/myverizon
Either way, you can still monitor your data usage by calling 800-922-0204 or download VZ Access Manager at www.vzam.net

  • Disable VZaccess Manager for Wi-Fi

Hi.  Is there any way I can configure VZAccess Manager to not enable wi-fi?  When we open up VZaccess Manager for the first time on each PC, it uses that for wi-fi and disables the program we do use for wi-fi. (We only use VZaccess Manager for WWAN Devices).  Currently, we have to manually set the preferences on VZ Access Manager to not use wi-fi, but is there any way this can be automatically done?  Like in a script or something?
    Thanks,
    Galit

In order for your Wi-Fi not to open you will have to disable it on your computer. It does not have anything to do with your VZaccess Manager, they are separate. Hope this helps!

  • Verizon VZAccess Manager (for broadband modem) will not even Force Quit

When I wake my MacBook Pro and launch VZAccess Manager it often hangsand Force Quit will not work (I didn't know that was possible). The only way to shut down is to press and hold the power button.
With each successive release of 10.5 my USB 727 modem driven by the VZAccess software is getting more finicky. I'm now making sure to disconnect and quit VZAccess before the MacBook Pro Intel goes to sleep. Since 10.5.6 this happens multiple times per day. I'm using the latest available VZAccess software.
A workaround that I would like: before installing VZAccess I got the modem to work just using the OS X network panel (WWAN / Other / Verizon 1xEVDO Modem Script). But now I can't get that to work, even when I Uninstall VZAccess.
Does anyone know a way to undo the actions of VZAccess beyond what VZAccess Uninstall does? Does VZAccess overwrite the Verizon 1xEVDO Modem Script supplied by Apple, and fail restore it when using Uninstall?
BTW, I've not been able to send the error report to Apple, because I'm in a rural location and don't have another way to connect to the Internet to report.

Contact Verizon. The problem is likely with their software not staying compatible. If they cannot provide a newer version of their software that is compatible then all you can do is downgrade to a previous version of Leopard with which their software worked. You can do that as follows:
How to Perform an Archive and Install
An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.
    1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the installer.
    2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
    3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
    4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
    5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
    6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.

  • VZAccess Manager install hangs looking for previous versions of software

UGH!  Trying to install the VZAccess Manager for the UM175 USB modem.  Driver installs but it gets to the point of the installation where the message box says "Checking for previous versions of VZAccess Manager..."
It just sits there and never goes away.  FRUSTRATING!!!!  The driver actually installs but the manager software never does.  What gives?
Oh ya...Windows 7 is the OS

VZAccess Manager software must be installed before inserting the PC Card / USB Modem into the computer for the first time. Only after the software has been installed can Windows successfully install and configure the PC Card / USB Modem.
    Start Device Manager.
Windows 7 Click Start > Control Panel > System and Security > Device Manager.
Click on the link below on using device manager.

  • My new HTC TB is not recognized by my VZAccess manager. What do I do?

I tethered my TB to my laptop to connect to the internet and it isn't recognized my my VZAccess Manager. I have the data plan for this and I put the phone in "Internet Connection Mode" but it still is not recognized. Am I supposed to download a new VZAccess Manager for the Thunderbolt? The version I have now worked fine with my LG Voyager for 3 years.
Right now I am connecting to my laptop using my Mobile Hotspot but I don't know if this is part of my business data plan(the $60/mo option) or not. I live out in the middle of nowhere California and do not have access to broadband, so this is my only form of connecting to the internet.

Well I found out why I couldn't connect to my VZAccess manager. It's because I was using the version for the 4G air card. According to the Verizon technician I spoke to, they haven't supported the TB with a VZAccess download yet, but they SHOULD have one up before the free wi-fi hotspot expires on 5/15.
The problem is, I am having trouble connecting with the hotspot, for instance it took me 60 seconds just to get to this page and I download stuff at 5-10kps a second while with my LG Voyager tethered I would download stuff at 20-80kps and 150+ when I was in LA or the Inland Empire. Even the phone browser keeps saying "Connection Failed" when surfing the web and the phone shows 2-3 bars. These are problems I never had with my Voyager and I know it's not my laptop since it connects fine with a hotspot from an AT&T phone, at Starbucks and the truck stop.
The technician I spoke with advised returning the phone until Verizon supports it with a VZAcces version for it. The thing is, will they waive the $35 restocking fee if I go back to my old phone and will I lose my upgrade for a future purchase? And if they do charge me the $35 restocking fee what will happen if I dispute the charge with my credit card company?

  • VZAccess Manager Linux?

Hello. I was just wondering if there a way to get VZAccess Manager on linux. I heard that they have a VZAccess Manager for linux under there Enterprise downloads. But i dont have a login there. Anyone help please? I'm trying to connect throught my mobile broadband with my EnV Touch. And i know linux has built in mobile broadband setup. but i want to use VZAccess Manager.

You really don't need VZAM in linux to use MBB. You can direct-dial a connection easily using PPP. The settings are as follows:
    Phone #: #777
    User:[email protected]
    Pass:vzw
Example, if your device's # is 212-555-1234, the username would be [email protected]
Mind you this will just give you a connection, no usage info, network stats or signal meter.

  • MiFi 4510l and VZAccess Manager

Having a heck of a time with 2 new MiFi's.  I upgraded to the 4G 4510l on 2 exisiting lines on my account replacing older 3g MiFi's.  These devices would not activate via the automated activation line.  Brought them into the local VZ store where they were purchased.  No go, they said I need to call tech support.  Something about terms of service or conditions.  I didn't fully understandt the explanation.  Tech support says the devices are already activated.  Not true.  I am unable to  get a wifi connection to the device but not out to the Internet.  When I connect to the MiFi's web gui, you can see it trying to connect to the VZ network and then it says disconnected a few seconds later.  I get a solid purple led light meaning 4g is detected but is not connected to the VZ network.  Hmm, sounds like it's not activated despite being told otherwise.
After tech support said these devices were already activated I tried to setup a My Verizon account for them.  Had to create a new My Verizon account because these devices were transferred to a business account.  In order to get the temporary password for the new My Verizon account I was instructed to open VZ Access Manager to retireve the text message with the password.  One problem, the 4510l is not supported in VZ ACCESS MANAGER!!!!  At least that is what I'm finding when Googling "MiFi4510l VZAccess Manager".   So, how the heck do they expect me to get the text message with the password if it's not compatible with vzam?
Beyond miffed!  EVERY SINGLE MIFI/usb device I've ever purchased from Verizon has had activation problems.  Our business has been through 8 mobile data devices over the last few years (new lines, upgrades, etc.) and not a ONE has ever activated without a HUGE hassle like this!
So, in review, how do I retireve a text message from a 4510l that does not connect to VZ Access Manager?  Why are these devices not activating and why is tech support telling me they are activated?
    Annoyed in VA!

  • VZAccess Manager Upgrade

I have had problems in the past blindly upgrading VZAcces Manager. I now have a message to upgrade to 7.6.4.4 2762s from 7.6.3.4 2642j. I would like to find what fixes are included in this version so I can decide whether or not to skip it. I have looked on both the Smith Mirco and VAccess Manager web sites and cannot find this information.
BTW - Clicking on the VZAccess Manager link in the update window does not take me anywhere.

    Hi jwwilson454,
I trust that the issue outlined in your post has been resolved and your device is working properly by now. In the event that the issue has not been resolved I have checked my resources and I learned that re-running the update tool has resolved this issue for other customers. • Can I remove VZAccess Manager Applet from Menu Bar?

I am running the latest version of snow leopard, and just installed the VZAccess Manager application so I can use a Verizon wireless modem (air card).  I know this sounds petty, but I don't like a lot of clutter on my menu bar, and right now I can't remove the VZAccess Manager applet from the menu bar.  Ordinarily, I thought we could just hold the command button down and drag the item out of the menu, but for some reason, it doesn't work with the Verizon VZAccess Manager.  Just curious if this can be done.
    Thanks.

Look in the VZAccess Preferences and uncheck the option to display in menubar.

  • Can I download verizon vzaccess manager to an ipad with retina display

Can i download vzaccess manager to an ipad

You don't need VZ Access Manager to use your MiFi with your iPad. Connecting by USB is not required (not required for the PC, either). The MiFi creates a personal hotspot that you can connect iPads, computers, etc, to just like you connect to your WiFi at home or in a coffee shop.
For what it's worth, if you connect your MiFi to your computer by USB, you can only use it to connect that PC to the internet. If you connect by WiFi, you can connect up to at least 3 devices at once.

  • Is VZAccess Manager compatible with Yosemite?

Has anyone been able to get VZAccess Manager to work under Mac OS X 10.10 (Yosemite beta)?

This is pathetic verizon. What's going to happen come December 25th when thousands of people get new macs for Christmas and find out your service won't work??? Can you say AT&T?! Spend less money on those stupid commercials and fix this issue. I now can't buy a new computer for my business because your lazy IT department can't figure out how to make the two play nice? Sorry if this sounds harsh, but this is truly unacceptable for such a large company. We are talking about an Apple product here. A very popular common sold all over the world product and it's incompatible with one of your core offerings.
    Fix this please.

  • Using VZAccess Manager v7 With Sierra Wireless SB555 Embedded Device

We have several Panasonic CF-29 Toughbooks with embedded Sierra Wireless SB555 devices. Up to now we were running VZAccess Manager v6.9 on these laptops without any issues.
For consistency sake we want to upgrade VZAccess Manager in these laptops to v7. From what I could determine VZAccess Manager 7 should work with the SB555 devices. This is where I came across an issue.
After installing VZAccess Manager v7 the Verizon Wireless - VZAccess dial-up networking connection was not created. Trying to connect failed: Connection not available.
I manually created the connection and I was able to connect. The problem is that whenever I use Detect Device VZAccess Manager deletes the connection and a new one is not created.
I have a temporary solution by creating a connection named BACKUP Verizon Wireless - VZAccess and then when needed just duplicate this backup connection and rename it properly. At least that is a solution in the lab.
    This leads to 3 questions:
Is there a way to make VZAccess anager create the connection as it normally should?
When the automatic area coverage updating takes place, does that trigger a Detect Device? If it does not I guess I am safe to believe that the connection will not be deleted in the field.
Is there a way to reduce the time between the coverage area updates so that I can test this in the lab without having to wait days or weeks for it to happen on its own?
    Thanks!

I would recommend uninstalling the current version of VZAM on the PC, and installing the VZAM software from www.vzam.net. I have listed the instructions below on navigating to the software.
Once on the VZAM home page, select supported devices on the red menu located on the left hand side of the screen
Scroll towards the bottom of the page for Laptops with Embedded Verizon Wireless WWAN Module
The 4th selection from the top is labeled “Panasonic Toughbook with global module.” Click on the version number that fits your Windows OS
    Enter your wireless number
Before you download, check the two links below on whether you will need drivers for the WWAN device, or the Toughbook itself. I have listed the link below:
    http://panasonic.com/toughbook/support
    http://www.vzam.net/UploadedFiles/Pan03_RevA_Driver.exe
If you are okay with the drivers, you can proceed to download the VZAM software by clicking the red download now button. Once selected, save the file to your desktop and install the software
***Download version 7.2.9 (2470a) for either Windows XP/Vista or Windows 7
***If step 1 is completed successfully (the drivers installed, the device was found, and the set up completed), the VZAM network connection will be automatically built.
    2.      At the point that the automatic coverage update initiates, it has already detected the device. (If a device is not detected, you will not be able to activate it or update the coverage information.)
    3.      To reduce the amount of time a coverage update can take, you can periodically perform a activation on the device. This can be done by selecting the “options” tab at the top of the VZAM menu, and select “activation”. This process will update the PRL (Preferred Roaming List) and coverage area.
I hope this information was helpful.

  • VZAccess Manager Still Running

    Hi All,
I have a Pantech USB modem through Verizon and lately VZAccess Manager (VZA M) has been giving my laptop a fit.  When VZA M closes, it takes about one to three minutes to close and if I try to start a new session without restarting my laptop I get the VZA M "is still running" error message.  I'm trying to keep an open mind about this inconvenience but our usage (the modem is also shared with a desktop which, fortunately, doesn't appear to have this problem) is above average this month already.  I hate to have the 5GB quota eaten up by opening e-mail and project tabs when I don't have to!
Theories:  my laptop has recently been in for repairs and there may be some sort of residual network left over that's causing VZA M issues...perhaps trying to run while the access manager is trying to close?  I recall reading that VZA M doesn't do well with VPN's and I'm curious if that could be the problem.  Both of the computers have also been recently outfitted with Kaspersky 2011 anti-virus software and I wonder if that could also be a factor since it scans in realtime with the internet.  I've tried pausing the sweep while running VZA M but that doesn't seem to make a difference.
Any ideas would be very, very much appreciated!

Thanks Kimberly_Nicole (and Natavia)!  Re-installation seemed to do the trick.
I made certain everything was working properly via Control Panel and then downloaded the newest version of VZAccess Manager from VZAM.  I uninstalled my old version, restarted (just to be safe) and then installed the newest version.  I believe the directions indicated that reinstallation could take place with the CD...but since the CD had picked up an enormous gash somewhere along the line I decided to download the newest version since, either way, I expected to have to download expensive updates.
And yes, I never encountered the VZA M "is still running" problem prior to the repairs.  I'm thinking that one of the drivers or incidental files was deleted or corrupted during the experience.  Re-installation did the trick!
Again, huge thanks to Kimberly and Natavia!

  • VZAccess Manager Update

On 3-25-11, while logging onto VZAccess Manager, I received a notice that an update for access manager was available. After downloading and installing it, I can only log on as WiFi. When the fivespot is connected via USB cable, VZAccess manager does not recognize the device is connected. This did not occur until the update was installed. I deleted VZAccess manager and downloaded the update online (in case something went wrong during the original download) and the same thing happens. Anyone else having this problem?

        Hi community,
I want you both to be able to fully use your USB modem so lets review these errors to get them corrected. The "Location Update" is run by the network and device. As the device is 3G it requires updates with the tower to occur and it's set in the device to automatically ask for the update every 30 days. To prevent this from occurring with a remote access, a manual update can be run from the direct computer when available. As long as it's run before day 30 arrives, the prompt should not reappear. To run the update please go to VZAccess Manager menu -> Options -> Activation.
The WiFi Location prompt can be eliminated with two steps. The first will be to complete the software update to VZAccess Manager 7.3. This can be done by visiting http://vzam.net. Follow the steps to input the operating system for the computer and then select the device. Run and install the update. Once that is done go to VZAccess Manager menu and select Options -> Preferences -> WiFi (on the left menu) -> and under Use this Wi-Fi adapter select None. Please keep us posted with these fixes.

  • BB Tour 9630 VZAccess Manager problems

I've, once again, lost my tethering connection via VZAccess Manager.  I've, once again, removed VZAccess Manager from my laptop and reinstalled it.  This has worked several times in the past, but not this time.  Looking for suggestions on how to restore my tethering/modem ability.

-Once the file is downloaded, install the Blackberry Desktop manager and open it.
-Once it is open, tether your device to your computer and desktop manager and it will update the information. You may minimize the menu once it is complete.
***Blackberry Desktop manager will contain the driver necessary for tethering your Blackberry Tour
***Try untethering and pull your battery on the Blackberry device. Place the battery back into the device and allow it to boot back up (this may take 3-5 minutes). Tether your device once again and retest.
