VZAccess Manager makes computer freeze very frequently

I use USB 760 interchangeably on two laptops, Both freeze up at least once a day. I cannot find any other reason for this. Anyone have similar problems and a fix? Both computers run Windows 7.

Update: the "git svn rebase" now crashes my laptop as well, unsure what I changed. I tried to do a clean "git svn clone" because I wondered if it was due to the repository residing on an afs server (using openafs from aur). I first cloned the repository at revision ~10 before the current trunk, and the subsequent "git svn rebase" did not cause problems. However, I then proceeded to run the clone from first revision (the svn repository has about 3k commits), and it crashed after cloning about 20 commits.
Just in case, I have uninstalled openafs for the time being just to see if that helps any.
Wild guess; could it be that the processes in question use a particularly large amount of a specific resource, and that when I run out of this resource the computer freezes instead of falling back to something else? Say memory, swap space or similar..?
I managed to trigger the bug once by running "ls /afs/cern.ch/" as well, but I have not been able to reproduce that. I might have been doing something else at the same time which I didn't realise.

  • Arch computer freeze (probably somthing with kernel and broadcom-wl)

Finally switch to arch on my main computer but I do have one annoying problem outside of just normal configuration of system.
When using wireless "heavily" (basically download something of a couple MB or surfing the web for a little while) my computer completely freezes and there is no keyboard or mouse contol. I end up haveing to shutdown by holding the powerbutton. This started when I upgraded to 2.6.37 soon after the install. This problem does not happen when on kernel 2.6.34 or whatever was on the live cd. I am using the broadcom-wl driver from tha AUR ([14e4:4329] BCM4321 is my hardware). The last time I had the the crash I checked the everything log and the stuff in the log at the time it happened said this:
localhost kernel: wl 0000:08:6.0: PCI-DMA: Out of IOMMU space for 1876 bytes
Also I have tried total reinstalls, kernel from testing repositories, networkmangager, manually connect network. Also the problem doesn't seem to have anything to do with X because it happened before I installed X and happens in my root which does not have X.
If I down grade to kernel 2.6.34 or use wired the computer does not freeze but I would like to be using wireless and be current. The only thing I can think of right now to try is kernel 2.6.39-rc1 (I downloaded to test if wired would make computer freeze). The problem is I have never copiled a kernel and I don't want to screw up my computer even more.
    Help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi! Two things:
First, if you plan on testing a newer kernel, try the kernel26-ck package from the AUR. It has the newest updates and is easily installed with whichever pacman wrapper you desire (I recommend Yaourt).
Second, I'd check everything in /var/log and dmesg to see if your system is producing any errors. I have a netbook using the wl driver and it work's fine, even when streaming and downloading vanila kernels/iso's. What's the chipset you have?

  • Very frequent system freezes on XI 3.1

    Hello:
We are experiencing very frequent system freezes where the system wont let you get pass the logon page for INfoview or CMC.
It also wont allow any of the BOBJ tools to logon.
The only way to resolve this issue seem to be to reboot the environment after killing all unix processes.
    Has anyone experienced this issue?
    BOE XI 3.1 SP3
    SAP IK Sp3
    HPUX-IA64 (unix) deployment
happens on single server and on multi server environment.
    Tomcat55
    JDK (bobj prepackage)

I agree that reboots (and I mean restarting just the bobj services) are seldom.
However in our environment after a certain about of days of usages (say 10 days or) after certain amount of schedules the environment locks ups.
and the only way to release it is to kill -9 the services on unix.
The cms service is the one having the issues as it is non responsive.  You can't even complete a logon, even when using ccm.sh -display.  We've been working with SAP support now for 3+ months without any resolution.
in the systemlogs the following errors are present on the machine where the cms is frozen:
businessobjects[2314]: Transport error: No response from server, timeout exceeded.

  • Computer freezes when I plug in Nano

Whenever I plug in my Nano into this computer, this computer freezes. The iPod screen looks like it's only charging, without the "Do Not Disconnect" screen. I have tried plugging in the iPod into two other computers, a PC and Mac, and it worked fine for both of them, "Do not disconnect" and all. However, I have tried almost everything on this computer. I have disabled all programs that load at start-up, I have reinstalled iTunes about 3 times, I have restored my iPod twice and formatted it once through the "My Computer" window and I have scanned for both spyware and viruses. I'm going absolutely insane over this whole thing, as nothing seems to be working and this just happened unexpectedly for no apparent reason.
If someone could help me, that would be VERY NICE.

You probably have a drive collision on your computer: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93499
Be sure to only connect your iPod (to a rear USB port on your computer) keyboard and mouse, and disconnect all other USB devices, including printers, digital cameras, scanners, thumb drives, flash memory, external hard drivers, threshers, etc. prior to changing the drive letter. Also, if you are on a network, disconnect, and use a much higher drive letter like M or P or Z.
As for viruses, etc., make sure all of your antivirus/spyware software preferences are set not to scan iPods. If you are manually managing your music, or have enabled disk use on your iPod, you will also have to set it to not scan removable storage devices.

  • Is VZAccess Manager compatible with Yosemite?

Has anyone been able to get VZAccess Manager to work under Mac OS X 10.10 (Yosemite beta)?

This is pathetic verizon. What's going to happen come December 25th when thousands of people get new macs for Christmas and find out your service won't work??? Can you say AT&T?! Spend less money on those stupid commercials and fix this issue. I now can't buy a new computer for my business because your lazy IT department can't figure out how to make the two play nice? Sorry if this sounds harsh, but this is truly unacceptable for such a large company. We are talking about an Apple product here. A very popular common sold all over the world product and it's incompatible with one of your core offerings.
    Fix this please.

Disc Driver - LG DVD/CD RW... It is an OEM, Windows claims it is updated.
I use an external component - USB Microsoft Wireless Mouse & Keyboard 2000.
I have, as far as software goes...
    Windows 7 64-bit SP1
Adobe Creative Suite 5, student version or what have you.
         - I do have several plugins installed as well for After Effects only.
    Autodesk 3ds Max 2012
-I have several maxscripts as well as a couple plugins for 3ds Max.
    UDK 2-2012 & 3-2012
    NVIDIA PhysX Lab 1.1
    NVIDIA Texture Tools 2
    NVIDIA plugin for Photoshop
    xNormal
    ConTEXT
    UnCodeX
    Quicktime
    AVG Free
    Malwarebytes
    7-Zip
    Java
    Sculptris
As for anything else giving me issues I haven't noticed anything besides a previous Graphics Card wasn't supported very well at all with 3ds Max, it would freeze while using the material editor which was fixed with replacing a GTX550 ti with a more compatible GTX480. Thought maybe the upgrade would also solve the fact that almost everytime I go to start up and/or use After Effects or Premiere Pro CS5 my whole system freezes. Whether or not I'm doing anything, it occasionally happened during "Scrubbing" the timeline, but also during the splash load up screen. Would take the time to wait for several minutes but nothing would change. Hard reboot was needed. After countless hours of searching online I stumbled upon what is called an "Unlock" for Premiere Pro/After Effects to allow accelerated GPU and CUDA cores. Simple procedure, seems as if things go faster... When it is working. But still, I encounter freezes on my entire system. It isn't a crash back to Windows or anytihng. Just a complete freeze on the entire system. I have not extensively used other Adobe programs besides Photoshop quite briefly just so I could open menus and force a freeze within 5 minutes and noticed nothing wrong. Which in AE & PP just running through any of the menu windows can quickly cause a sudden freeze.
note* I have alternated shutting off and turning on OpenGL as well as multiprocessing. Doesn't matter, it really doesn't seem to change much of anything.
Alas, I am absolutely sure, after checking and re-checking 80+ hours over the past 2 weeks that yes, everything is updated as far as each individual program, software or hardware will allow me to update them. I have reinstalled Windows as well as each program up to 3 times, and 1 system (restore?) I had Windows dump everything, started from scratch, backed up nothing. To reinstall everything from scratch, while not installed several "Utilities" or software components from stuff like the Motherboard and its XFAST USB/LAN or whatever, thinking maybe it was cluttering up anything.
Please, if anyone has any ideas upon this and could give me advice, whether you notice any other incompatibilities or anything. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
note* I do not have a wired Keyboard or mouse to disable the USB plugin and attempt that route.. at least not yet, its on my list of things to do. Also, I did run Memtest86+ during a boot and it claims that everything there had passed 100%. I am not "overclocking" anything either. I just wanted something I could work smoothly on, that would have decent rendering capabilities. I used to use my girls' laptop which was an HP with 3GB RAM and never experienced crashes or freezes and I could use AE, PPro, 3ds Max with some lag but not any issues. Rendering took forever on it, but I usually avoided that 'cuz it would start heating up pretty fierce. Saved my rendering for school computers where I could. But either way, now I have this expensive piece and it is getting frustrating that I cannot work on it.
note* Also, incase it does help, I have Windows as well as any major components installed onto the C: drive (aka SSD for my system) while all my secondary software, such as Adobe, Autodesk, etc. are all installed directly to my D: drive (or HDD) And everything is set up to go through Windows Firewall as well.

Thanks all. I have just tried a few things, installing them onto the C drive as you all specified as not being one of them. I can understand it, but at the same time i have a classmate who has their software on a seperate drive and it runs smoothe. I'm on my second GPU in 2 weeks, unless I have terrible luck it seems doubtful being that I can run games and a majority of the software no problem. Through further testing around with a corded mouse and keyboard I've noticed the following...
The computer freezes entirely only when I'm performing a "scrubbing" action or using a mouse. Left clicking, scrolling, or moving it around. Otherwise if I do not use the mouse and I make all my actions, such as "scrubbing" in AE via "Page Up & Down" keys, there's no freeze and it preloads the preview no problem.
"Scrubbing" does not load a preview (the green bar doesn't load at all while scrubbing). But, also noticed no matter how smoothe everything is running in 3ds Max as well as PPro, once I start performing a "scrubbing" action with whatever timeline I use, it will definately freeze my whole computer, Windows and all. Hard reboot is neeed.
With having gone through 2 GPU's, done a full memtest via Windows 7 and Memtest86+, there seems to be no issue with my memory or GPU. Like I said, I've run UDK without an issue. Whether the editor or game. The USB doesn't seem like it's the cause, I've used both wireless as well as wired keyboards/mouse. Still freezes, but now only when using a mouse to "Scrub".
Is it possible my motherboard could be incompatible somewhere? I mean, really.. everything is brand new but 2 weeks of troubleshooting.
And I do plan on trying to run my software off the C drive, I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something else, like I said, I've seen and used a computer where it all runs off the D drive and it runs perfectly, actually better on his computer than off the C drive at my schools. So if it is an issue would it lie within the fact that I'm using an Nvidia GPU? Considering my classmate is using a AMD/ATI Radeon or something like that.
Again, to those who replied, your shared knowledge is greatly appreciated, thank you.

  • Computer freezes for a few minutes after minimizing/closing Photoshop/InDesign

    Hello,
So I've had this problem since I got the computer, but it has gotten much worse recently. After I work in photoshop and indesign for a few hours, I minimize both programs and the computer freezes for a good 4 or 5 minutes, even my winamp music player starts skipping. I'm thinking its the RAM that needs time to dump out the data and its doing it very slow.
    I have:
    Q8200 2.33 ghz overclocked at 2.51
    8BG of RAM
    ATI EAH4850 512MB
I'm thinking it might the overclocking or the Not so high quality of RAM sticks. please let me know of any other suggestions.
    Thank you

Thank you for the response. I disabled the overclocking and unchecked Export Clipboard. It seems to be a bit faster, but I haven't tried it extensively yet. I'm running XP x64, if that makes any difference.

  • Very frequently I am unable to click on anything within the brower, I need to alt-tab to another program or minimize firefox in order to click on any links. This is only within firefox and no other program or browser that I have having this problem.

Very frequently I cannot click on any links within firefox. I have to either alt-tab or minimize the browser in order for me to navigate through website.
This appears to be only issue with firefox and nothing else on my computer as I don't have this problem with any other program or web broswer.
I needed to alt tab 5 times just to get this question submitted, very annoying!

That problem can be caused by the Yahoo! Toolbar or the Babylon extension that extents too much downwards and covers the top part of the browser window and thus makes links and buttons in that part of the screen not clickable.

  • After installing maverick my computer is very slow

after installing maverick my computer is very slow, what can I do?

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
    Step 1
This diagnostic procedure will query the log for messages that may indicate a system issue. It changes nothing, and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    syslog -k Sender kernel -k Message CReq 'GPU |hfs: Ru|I/O e|find tok|n Cause: -|NVDA\(|timed? ?o' | tail | open -ef
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key.
The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear.
A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. Normally the command will produce no output, and the window will be empty. If the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window) has anything in it, stop here and post it — the text, please, not a screenshot. The title of the TextEdit window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that.
    Step 2
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
Run Software Update. If there's a firmware update, install it.
If you're booting from an aftermarket SSD, see whether there's a firmware update for it.
If you have a portable computer, check the cycle count of the battery. It may be due for replacement.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane. See whether there's any change.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
Boot into Recovery mode, launch Disk Utility, and run Repair Disk.
If you have a MacBook Pro with dual graphics, disable automatic graphics switching in the Energy Saverpreference pane for better performance at the cost of shorter battery life.
    Step 3
When you notice the problem, launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the View menu or the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for User, System, and Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the Memory tab. What value is shown in the bottom part of the window for Swap used?
Next, select the Disk tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in andWrites out.)
    Step 4
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combinationcommand-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

  • Just installed new OS, computer freezing... HELP!!

    Hey all,
So as I've been posting between here and the Panther forums recently, I belatedly upgraded my OS over the few days from the last version of Panther to the last one of Tiger, and now I've been having a frequent problem with the computer freezing.
Granted, I've had this computer crash on me before; sometimes it's with that Glazed-over grey screen & telling you that to hold down the Power button to restart it, sometimes, the mouse icon will just FREEZE up, and I'll also have to hold down the Power button. That latter type is the more common one, and though it may happen every few weeks or so, just today alone, I've had it freeze up on me FOUR TIMES. Even now, I used my old Panther boot partition--which I'd cloned to my external firewire drive--to boot up from and write this.
So I'm lead to believe it's either some problem with the new OS, or the computer itself. The thing is, this is a previously used G4, one I'd inherited from my brother, who said that it used to crash on him almost daily. He suspected it was because of either a problem with
    A) the internal drive (the drive IS a 111.8 GB one, which seems a bit unusual for a boot drive; my old G4 came with a 20GB one, I haven't heard of many pre-installed internal drives being 100 GBs, though I could be wrong), or
    B) 3rd party RAM that he'd had installed when he bought it, which perhaps wasn't quite as good as Mac-made RAM.
Anyway when I took it over, I made sure to reformat and zero-out the hard drive, and didn't seem to have AS many problems. However, obviously if I've upgraded to a higher OS--which of course would cause more wear on the computer--if the RAM was at all compromised before, then that would DEFINITELY be I'm having an issue now.
I verified and repaired ALL partitions before I installed this--on the 2 partitions of the internal, and my external--and they seemed to come up okay. I'm just like to try trouble-shooting--whether I need to run some tests, or make sense of the Crash Log(s)--on what could not only CONTINUE to be causing to this computer to crash, but have made it worse.
Admittedly I'm a computer noob, so I'm hardly the most knowledgeable person when it comes to detecting problems. Thing is, I really hope that this computer can tide me over until I upgrade to a newer PowerBook or iMac within the year, and was even going to try installing and learning some new design programs in the meantime. However, I don't want to get too comfortable with it--****, I CAN'T--or waste my time and money installing a software or a new RAM or an internal drive if there's no hope to salvage this thing.
    PLEASE help! Thanks.

Nope, it'd just been the 1 "loop" (what does that even MEAN, by the way?) that had been the default when you first download and use Rember. Again, I even shut down both the display and computer "sleep" features in Energy Saver, and it ended up taking 4525 seconds, or 75 minutes.
Although "all tests passed," should I consider such a lengthy test-time as a red flag? Why would it be taking so long for such a test??
So assuming the RAM in question IS actually okay, I guess the next question is whether the computer freezing (which happened AGAIN, right before I was going to post this; Firefox was one of the only programs I had running) is due to:
    A) Problems with the internal/boot drive itself (again, it IS an 111 GB drive on a G4 a used G4, I'm not sure if that's a standard factory-issue drive, and the family member who passed this computer off to me doesn't remember either). If you know of any OTHER ways to test it to make sure it's not compromised or failing (since it already seemed to come up okay on Disk Utility), I'd appreciate it.
    B) Problems with the Tiger OS itself. Although the installation of it went all right, the computer DID freeze while I was doing the upgrade from 10.4 to the 10.4.11 package in Software Upgrade afterwards, so maybe that's somehow compromised the entire OS. So if there's any way to DOWNGRADE to 10.4.1, and REDO the packaged upgrade, let me know.
    C) Possibility that I should still increase my RAM either way. Again, of the 4 slots, I have 2 512-pieces, 1 256, and 1 empty. So I COULD upgrade add another to the empty slot, or increase the 256 to a 512, or both. If you know of any reputable places online or elsewhere where I can buy compatible RAM for this G4, I'm all ears. I DO have some RAM on my own OLDER 2000-model G4, assuming it's even compatible (I'm sorry to say I don't know that much about RAM, never having purchased any on my own).
Any feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • VZAccess Manager Still Running

    Hi All,
I have a Pantech USB modem through Verizon and lately VZAccess Manager (VZA M) has been giving my laptop a fit.  When VZA M closes, it takes about one to three minutes to close and if I try to start a new session without restarting my laptop I get the VZA M "is still running" error message.  I'm trying to keep an open mind about this inconvenience but our usage (the modem is also shared with a desktop which, fortunately, doesn't appear to have this problem) is above average this month already.  I hate to have the 5GB quota eaten up by opening e-mail and project tabs when I don't have to!
Theories:  my laptop has recently been in for repairs and there may be some sort of residual network left over that's causing VZA M issues...perhaps trying to run while the access manager is trying to close?  I recall reading that VZA M doesn't do well with VPN's and I'm curious if that could be the problem.  Both of the computers have also been recently outfitted with Kaspersky 2011 anti-virus software and I wonder if that could also be a factor since it scans in realtime with the internet.  I've tried pausing the sweep while running VZA M but that doesn't seem to make a difference.
Any ideas would be very, very much appreciated!

Thanks Kimberly_Nicole (and Natavia)!  Re-installation seemed to do the trick.
I made certain everything was working properly via Control Panel and then downloaded the newest version of VZAccess Manager from VZAM.  I uninstalled my old version, restarted (just to be safe) and then installed the newest version.  I believe the directions indicated that reinstallation could take place with the CD...but since the CD had picked up an enormous gash somewhere along the line I decided to download the newest version since, either way, I expected to have to download expensive updates.
And yes, I never encountered the VZA M "is still running" problem prior to the repairs.  I'm thinking that one of the drivers or incidental files was deleted or corrupted during the experience.  Re-installation did the trick!
Again, huge thanks to Kimberly and Natavia!

  • Computer freezes pointer still works

Why is my computer freezing?  can I prevent it?

    Hi,
Thanks for the prompt answer - and I apologise for taking a while to get back to the thread.
I think your assumption is probably right. Having described the problem to the technician at the store, he said that he saw a similar case with another computer and it was a battery problem, and suggested to try tremoving the battery and just working with the computer plugged in.
I've done that, and so far so good; while I'm still going to give it a little more time just to make sure (before, it could be days of having no problem before the computer froze suddenly), it seems very plausible that I do indeed need a new battery. Still feels a bit odd to have had absolutely no problems for about a year, and then have something like this, but hey. It happens.
So, giving a few more days before I mark the question as answered, but unless I suddenly have the problem again even without the battery, *I consider the issue resolved.*
    Thank you again!
    Yael

  • VZAccess Manager activation error WMC671 - using LG600

I can no longer connect to the internet through my LG600. I get an error WMC671 when I click Connect.
I've rebooted, reinstalled VZAccess Manager, Upgraded the device drivers, and used differnet USB ports.
    Anyone have any other suggestions?

The LG VL600 device draws the maximum amount of power through the USB port, which conflicts with Windows power management system. The computer attempts to manage the power of the connection, which causes the WMC671 error that you are receiving. The LG is performing to specification, and it is drawing an approved amount of power through the USB port, but the computer system is cutting and managing power in an attempt to extend the battery life of the laptop. To resolve this error code, please making the following adjustments to the computer:
    1. Go to the Control Panel in Windows. You may access this by going to: Start > Settings > Control Panel.
    2. Make sure you are in "Classic View" as opposed to "Category View" and select "Device Manager".
    3. Scroll on down to the "Universal Serial Bus Controllers", expand the category and look for any "USB Root Hubs".
    4. Right click each "USB Root Hub" and select "Properties"
    5. Click the "Power Management" tab at the top of the new window.
    6. Uncheck the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power." check box.
    7. Save, exit, close out of Device Manager and remove the USB modem.
    8. Reboot the computer, plug the modem back in, and access the internet.
