W-3 Magnetic Media

I don't know if this is the correct place to post this question, but...
This year we need to file our W-3 information electronically. When running W-2s out of Tax Reporter (PU19) we get a paper copy of the W-3 but not a file. I have looked in the configuration, and there is not a W-3 file format out there at all. I could create one, but I would think there should be one given from SAP because we cannot be the only company with this requirement. Has anyone run across this issue, and how did you solve it?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Mary Kerschke

Hi Mary,
I'm not sure if we have a similar situation, but we need to send the magnetic media to the local authorities this year and as you might have seen there is no forms available for local. I tried doing this by copying a MMREF form and create a 'Z' version and added to HR_F_W2 Tax form. Other than this place I'm not able to figure out where we should make further config. for the W2 job to pickup this Z form. If you have any info can you please mail me at [email protected]
Thanks

    Hello Mr. Krish,
I believe that this error has been corrected because you had to send the W2 form .
But this issue was caused due to the fact that your file HR_F_W2_TAPE_DEC does not have a header line. The note 1553756 was delivered to correct this dump.

  • Magnetic media

What transaction is used to generate a magnetic media file, I used B1B2, but it is for Canada. These files are SSA files and where are they saved in the system. I can view them in the Tax Reporter but If I run for many employees, these files needs to be download to disk but how to get this files and what procedure is used to transfer these files.

    Hello JackDI,
The mag media files are generated in Tax Reporter (US) and Year End Reporting (Canada). It's not clear in your update if you are not able to generate these files through these programs or you are looking another way to generate them. Could you please update us with more details?
    Kind regards,

  • Tax Reporter: magnetic media files in Excel format

Most of the state agencies websites require a "Microsoft Excel Comma Separated Values File" or a regular Excel file for SUTA reports to be able to upload them online.
Is it possible to generate the magnetic media files from Tax Reporter in one of these two formats?
Not sure if I was missing a step or not, but the files are automatically generated in XML format.

    Hi Tatiana,
May be below link would help you.

  • Magnetic Media is not reconciling with Payroll Reconciliation Report..

    Hello Team
Can anyone help me how to proceed/what to look at if Magnetic Media is not reconciling with Payroll Reconciliation Report..
Any insight into this will be highly appreciable.
    Regards
    Raspreet

    Hi Charlene,
The Recommended way to Reconcile you tax fomrs is as follows.
    1. Take the actual 941's submitted to authority.
    2. Run 941 for all Quarters using SAP Tax reporter and Reconciliation report 941 application.
    3. Run W-2 in Tax reporter and take copy of W-3 and 6559
    4. Run Reconciliation report using W-2 Application.
Now first match the all 941 totals for all Taxable and Taxes with W-3 total. Then match your W-3 with 6559.
Remember the totals on your final report has to match by penny to penny. If there are any 941-C take them also into consideration.
    I hope this helps.

  • Social Security wages missing from NC magnetic media

Payroll was reconciling quarterly reports and found that the NC state magnetic media social security wages did not match the FED information. They were able to determine what information is missing, but now I need to know how to correct the NC state mag media.
We have election workers who are allowed to make up to $1400 before any FICA taxes are withheld. Once the YTD value of election pay reaches that limit, the entire YTD amount of election pay is taxable.  Our consultant set up a wage type so that this YTD taxable election pay will automatically be transferred into a FICA taxable wage type. For all FED tax forms, the SS wages are correct; it is ONLY the NC state magnetic media that is incorrect (does not include the SS wages for the election pay over the limit).  Does anyone have suggestions as to what I can do to correct this?  The field on the mag media layout contains /703 and /403, but since there is no NC /703, those wages are missing on the tape.  The employee's remuneration is correct; it is the tax reporting that is incorrect.
Thanks in advance for your advice!

I am thinking that the problem is with the FICA taxable wage type itself. When I run a regular payroll and check the TCRT in ADDCU, there are no NC technical wage types, only FED (/303, /403, /404, /6xx, /7xx). Where do I get the NC technical wage types?  Is there something missing in BSI or some setting that is not set up for the state values?
    Thanks!

  • Non Resident County Tax Missing on Magnetic Media

We have people that live in Ohio and work in Wayne County, Indiana.  The Ohio residents pay Wayne County, IN tax at the non-resident rate.  On our magnetic media for Indiana, only Indiana residents showed the Wayne County tax on the file.  Should another tax authority magnetic media be selected to report those Ohio residents that have the Wayne County, IN tax withheld?
Thanks for any guidance you can provide.....

    Hi,
Check in Tax reporter the form for W2 magnetic media for Michigan in IMG whether special download parameter 'Insert CRLF btw records'  is set as 'CRLF' in directly option. If not, add this & then check the form.
You can also check SAP note for W2 for Michigan for any changes in year 2007. Generally SAP releases the note for the states for any changes.
    Hope this will help you.
    Thanks,
    Sarika.

  • Unable to create Magnetic Media xml file.(Able to see Business No Summary)

    Dear All,
I am trying to create Magnetic Media File of T4 forms to submit to CRA. I could successfully do this in Sandbox machine but when I tried the same in QA after simulating the year end updates the same way as they were in Sandbox ....  it doesnt work in QA.
I am able to view the Business summary with the Total amounts of deductions. It says 10 slips successfully produced. When I go check the downloaded xml file, I am unable to view the 10 files data in the xml file.
Can you let me know what might be the possible reason?
    Regards,
    Rani

I could solve it myself by downloading recent CRA files.

  • MMREF Magnetic Media Files Download/Saved from Tax Reporter

Often times when we go to download the MMREF Federal File and various state files that are generated in PU19, they are not in the correct format.  Please explain how these should be downloaded.  Is the process to take the temse file and just download via the download link in the screen?  If so, should they be saved in txt files to view?  Often times it looks like the data is wrapped.  Please help!  We seem to specifically be having a problem with AL at this time.

    Hi
First you need to download the MMREF format in google. so that you will get an idea how it looks like and compare the same with the format you generated from tax reporter. you can download the same by hitting the disk icon and save it in your hard drive in .txt format. Pls open the downloaded txt file. you can able to read those....
    Thanks

  • W-2c(s) Magnetic Media is not generating

Back in April 2009 we generated W-2c forms for 4 employees in our Production Client using the Reporting Period Date of 12/31/2008 and Consider Payroll Results up to date of 12/31/2008.  Today,  we want  to generate a W-2c for the same 4 employees,  and when I attempt to do this in our PRD environment no forms are produced.
What would cause the W-2c forms not to generate?
    Thanks,
Edited by: Carla D. Ivy on Jul 30, 2009 5:32 PM

    See comments in BOLD.
I need to re-generate a W-2c for each of the 4 employees and I need a new file to send to SSA OKay File is submittied here. There has been no additonal payroll adjustments since we last generated w-2c(s) for these 4 employees. But we maintained some formatting of our W-2c form. If only form changes are done why do you want to print those 4 employees again. You sent them the W-2c and filed to authorities so what is your requirement?
I also see that there is a filing date set in our Production environment for W-2c(s). I have been troubleshooting this all day. I cannot figure out why we cannot re-generate W-2c(s) for these same 4 employees. As Ted said, you wont be able to generate same 4 employees unless you make additional payrol results adjsutment or remove the filing date. Removing filing date takes lots of effort. There is an option to delete the PRD run of Tax reporter for W-2c but you'saying that you filed so I would NOT recommend that to you.

  • I'm totally confused now. I've got a magnetic case for my iPhone. Some people say it'll definitely damage the phone and some say it definitely won't! Do I chance keeping it?

I need people's take on iPhone cases with magnetic clasps. I want a case that covers my screen but I don't want to wreck my beautiful new iPhone!

It will do no harm. There are no magnetic media in an iPhone. Apple makes iPad cases containing magnets, which would seem to indicate it's OK.

  • Officejet pro 8000 printing wonky on magnetic paper

    Hi
I have an Officejet Pro 8000 and have recently bought some Kodak magnetic paper for it. The paper is 650 gsm and although it prints fine it always comes out wonky. Does anyone know if its technically too thick for the printer? Or any other reason why it could be? And does anyone else use magnetic paper, maybe you could recommend another one?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Consumer inkjet printers do not support a Magnetic media
As you may find by the printer specification, 280 g/m2 is the maximum media weight the printer can handle for Photo Paper, it is definitely not intended to handle such weights..

  • Magnets & N95 8Gb

Have my N95 8Gb in a belt holster with a magnet clip. Noticed at night when the phone was in the holster, the screen was always lit.
Try it - magnets near the screen will switch the screen on; not out of unlock mode but draining your batteries nevertheless.
Save your batteries and turn it away from any magnet!
If no-one died or got sued, it's an OK day

Only if the Memory is magnetic media (like a Hard Disk Drive)
The N95 8GB uses Nand Flash for memory so it's not affected by static magnetic fields (i.e. Magnets).

  • Comparison of SSD with hard disk drives

    Attribute or characteristic
    Solid-state drive
    Hard disk drive
    Spin-up time
    Instantaneous.
May take several seconds. With a large number of drives, spin-up may need to be staggered to limit total power drawn.
    Random access time[45]
About 0.1 ms - many times faster than HDDs because data is accessed directly from the flash memory
Ranges from 5–10 ms due to the need to move the heads and wait for the data to rotate under the read/write head
    Read latency time[46]
Generally low because the data can be read directly from any location; In applications where hard disk seeks are the limiting factor, this results in faster boot and application launch times (see Amdahl's law).[47]
Generally high since the mechanical components require additional time to get aligned
    Consistent read performance[48]
Read performance does not change based on where data is stored on an SSD
If data is written in a fragmented way, reading back the data will have varying response times
    Defragmentation
SSDs do not benefit from defragmentation because there is little benefit to reading data sequentially and any defragmentation process adds additional writes on the NAND flash that already have a limited cycle life.[49][50]
HDDs may require defragmentation after continued operations or erasing and writing data, especially involving large files or where the disk space becomes low. [51]
    Acoustic levels
SSDs have no moving parts and make no sound
HDDs have moving parts (heads, spindle motor) and have varying levels of sound depending upon model
    Mechanical reliability
A lack of moving parts virtually eliminates mechanical breakdowns
HDDs have many moving parts that are all subject to failure over time
    Susceptibility toenvironmental factors[47][52][53]
No flying heads or rotating platters to fail as a result of shock, altitude, or vibration
The flying heads and rotating platters are generally susceptible to shock, altitude, and vibration
    Magneticsusceptibility[citation needed]
    No impact on flash memory
Magnets or magnetic surges can alter data on the media
    Weight and size[52]
The weight of flash memory and the circuit board material are very light compared to HDDs
Higher performing HDDs require heavier components than laptop HDDs that are light, but not as light as SSDs
    Parallel operation[citation needed]
Some flash controllers can have multiple flash chips reading and writing different data simultaneously
HDDs have multiple heads (one per platter) but they are connected, and share one positioning motor.
    Write longevity
Solid state drives that use flash memory have a limited number of writes over the life of the drive.[54][55][56][57] SSDs based on DRAM do not have a limited number of writes.
Magnetic media do not have a limited number of writes.
    Software encryption limitations
NAND flash memory cannot be overwritten, but has to be rewritten to previously erased blocks. If a software encryption program encrypts data already on the SSD, the overwritten data is still unsecured, unencrypted, and accessible (drive-based hardware encryption does not have this problem). Also data cannot be securely erased by overwriting the original file without special "Secure Erase" procedures built into the drive.[58]
HDDs can overwrite data directly on the drive in any particular sector.
    Cost
As of October 2010, NAND flash SSDs cost about (US)$1.40–2.00 per GB
As of October 2010, HDDs cost about (US)$0.10/GB for 3.5 in and $0.20/GB for 2.5 in drives
    Storage capacity
As of October 2010, SSDs come in different sizes up to 2TB but are typically 512GB or less[59]
As of October 2010, HDDs are typically 2-3TB or less
    Read/write performance symmetry
Less expensive SSDs typically have write speeds significantly lower than their read speeds. Higher performing SSDs and those from particular manufacturers have a balanced read and write speed.[citation needed]
HDDs generally have symmetrical read and write speeds
    Free block availability andTRIM
SSD write performance is significantly impacted by the availability of free, programmable blocks. Previously written data blocks that are no longer in use can be reclaimed by TRIM; however, even with TRIM, fewer free, programmable blocks translates into reduced performance.[25][60][61]
HDDs are not affected by free blocks or the operation (or lack) of the TRIM command
    Power consumption
High performance flash-based SSDs generally require 1/2 to 1/3 the power of HDDs; High performance DRAM SSDs generally require as much power as HDDs and consume power when the rest of the system is shut down.[62][63]
High performance HDDs generally require between 12-18 watts; drives designed for notebook computers are typically 2 watts.

I wish I could get my head round the SSD vs HDD with a NLE rig.  My builder is trying to persuade me to use a Toshiba 256Gb THNSNC256GBSJ for OS and programs, and it is only NZ$20 more expensive than the 450Gb 10k rpm VelociRaptor I was originally planing to use for the OS.  That sounds suspiciously cheap to me, and I am concerned about the finite writes to SSD - mainly because I don't really understand it.
The rest of the new build is
    3930K
    Gigabyte X79-UD5
    8 x DDR3 1600
    Coolermaster with 750W PSU
    Geforce GTX570
I plan to transfer the drives from my current system as a starting point, and reassess after giving it some use.  That means
Either the above SSD or 450Gb 10k Raptor for OS (new drives)
300Gb 10k rpm Raptor  (currently used for OS in old box)
150Gb 7k4 rpm Raptor (reserved for Photoshop Scratch in old box)
    2 x 1Tb WD Blacks (data drives)
    2 x 1Tb WD USB3 externals
I don't know how I would configure the drives in the new box, but have seen Harm's table and will try to follow his advice.  It's a dreadful thing to admit, but I don't have a backup strategy, and the above drives are well over half full. Well over!  And I am only just getting serious about video, (the rest is mainly CR2 files from my Canon 1Ds3 and 1D4)
I know it must be like banging your head against the wall, but should I avoid that SSD and go with the 450G Raptor?   I have read a comment that the WD Blacks don't work well as Raid0.  Is that BS or true?
I am about to give the go-ahead so need to confirm the spec.

    Aswin,
The client session is your primary TopLink interface abstracting over the shared cache and connection pooling. Depending if you are using internal or external connection pooling and the transaction state you are in TopLink may have a JDBC connection allocated to your client session. A client session does equate to a single dedicated JDBC connection for its entire lifecycle.
Assuming you are using an external connection pool (Application server's data source) your client session will have a connection from this data source when required to perform a read and during the commit of its UnitOfWork.
