"w" not kerned correctly in Safari

Hi, everyone.
In Safari 'w' characters (lower-case) always appear to have a
space following them. We are using standard Arial font. What can be
done to fix the situation?
Thanks in advance.

  • Search box not displaying correctly in Safari

How can the search bar on the Apple site not display correctly in Safari? I find this odd that Apple would allow this. It displays like 2 search boxes overlapping each other. It still functions correctly but it is a little embarrassing since I am always bashing windows pro browser display.

    Hi
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Might be a corrupted cache or cookies issue. First, go to Safari Preferences>Security>Show Cookies. Type Apple in the Spotlight panel. Highlight/remove the cookies. Then, go to the Safari Menu>Empty Cache. Try the Apple site.
If the double search panel still appears, go to the Finder: Your User Account>Library>Caches. There, move to the trash the com.apple.safari file. Restart Safari and try the Apple site again.

  • Trailers not formatting correctly in Safari

ITunes Movie Trailers are not playing correctly in Safari. On selecting full screen using the expand arrows in the video control panel in Safari 5.1.10 & OS 10.6.8; Trailer will expand to full screen and the screen will go black, but on selecting play there is no image or sound exept a faded outline of the edge of the Trailer frame that runs off screen and does not play. Trailer plays in defualt size.

Try emptying the Safari cache. Command + Option + E. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that didn't help, might be an incompatible extension.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.

  • CSS not working correctly in Safari only!

I built a website <http://globalpeace.jp> for a Japanese friend quite some time ago (2007) and it worked fine at the time but now (I am not sure from when as I had not looked at the site for a long time) the display of a series of floating boxes in the header is not displaying correctly, but ONLY in Safari.
There is a 200px blank area that should be filled with a thin horizontal line right up until the box with the animated butterfly. Everything looks fine in Opera, Chrome and Firefox. I have tried my best to find what might be causing this but have had no luck...
Any solutions would be greatly appreciated...

Perhaps there is something I can do within DW that might easily solve this?
There's no magic button to fix bad code.  Adobe abandoned GoLive back in 2008 because it wasn't capable of producing standards compliant code.  This is 2013.  It would make more sense to re-build the site from scratch to be both web standards compliant and responsive in mobiles, tablets and desktops.

  • Facebook not loading correctly in Safari

The last few days my Facebook profile has not been loading correctly in Safari. When I first got the phone, all pages would load. Now, every time I click the 'profile' link, only text shows up, no photos or media. I have cleared the cache and history already. At first, this was just my profile, however, now it is doing it to my friends profiles as well.
The main page loads fine with all graphics and such. I have also noticed when I click on 'profile', it constantly adds iphone.facebook to the beginning of the link. Even if I change it, it always loads it.
Anyone know a fix for this? Very annoying.

Don't try to "change" it. They are reading your browser type and directing you to the mobile version of the site. If you don't want it, go to the bottom of the page and choose the link that says load the Full Site. Then the site will act like it does on your computer.

  • Rollover text not rendering correctly in Safari 7.x

Safari 7.x and my blog (NotNecessarilyPretty.com) are not getting along.
Specifically, the rollover text in the post titles (see attached or visit site) is not rendering correctly. The right edge of the text does not change to the correct color. Have been in contact with Apple as well as the theme's developer, but have yet to be offered of a fix.
This blog displays correctly when accessed via Chrome or Firefox, and prior to Mavericks, Safari evidenced no problem.
Thoughts on how to correct this?
    Thanks!

The original screenshot didn't show here, so for anyone else reading, who may well know much more about CSS & Safari than I :
changes to this - note the right edge
But with word-spacing un-checked in Inspector...

  • Fonts Do Not Display Correctly in Safari and Firefox

Certain fonts do not display smoothly in Safari and Firefox. They appear to have little pieces of the letters missing. I'm sure others have experienced this problem before but I could not find how to fix this. On the Apple Discussions the fonts look fine... on Google for example, they look messed up. I do not know specifically which font(s) are displayed weird but it happens frequently. This happens in Safari and Firefox on my MacPro and MacBookPro. Is there a setting to fix this?
    Thanks,
    -flash

Hello Flash, welcome to Apple discussions; )
Look for Helvetica Fractions and Times Phonetic Fonts, if you have them,
they can be the usual suspects.
Check the Text encoding in both Safari & FF, under the "View" menu.
In System preferences-> Personal (top section) in Appearance tab->
on the last portion of the panel Font smoothing Style: set that to Automatic
If those don't help, see this users tip excellent article Kurt Lang's ~ Font Management in Mac OS X
Look into this application to find any corrupt font[s]Font Finagler
Good luck, let us know how you fare.

  • Boxes you click on to check items will not appear correct in safari

In all my other web browsers this works fine, but any of those little boxes you can click in to check an item ie. e-mail's, options, or to agree with conditions. those little boxes that should appear white with or without a check in them appear as little grey boxes with a black triangle in them kind of resembling the arrows on the scroll bar to the right of your browser and they dont do anything when i click on them. It also occurs in safaris options and preferences. Like if i went into internet options and wanted to select that little box to clear cookies, i wont be able to because all those little check boxes appear weird. Why is this? I cant manage my e-mail or surf conveniently. Its annoying What is causing this???

    Hello Ali_95
Check out the article below for troubleshooting issues with your iPod touch not showing up in iTunes. It may be an issue with security software or the Apple Mobile Device driver.

  • Accents not appearing correctly in Safari

I'm having a problem where accent marks in webpages are showing up as symbols like this
I tried changing the encoding from western but it doesn't help. the unicode makes the accents appear correctly but the english doesn't always appear correctly. IE and Netscape show the text correctly. Any suggestions? Thanks for your time

Could you send me a screenshot of an example where the accents are OK but the English is not when using UTF-8 encoding? Also an example URL? Click on my name for the address.

  • Website created in FrontPage does not display correctly in Safari

Using StoreFront software (PC based only), we have created a website that performs beautifully in Explorer and Netscape on a PC. For some reason, not all pages open properly on a MAC. It is the left column that does not open properly on the dynamically generated pages. Does Safari have a problem with style sheets?

If you would provide the url of your page, it would be a lot easier to help. You might yourself want to check your page against the w3c standards to see how far off it is:

  • Titles not recorded "correctly" in Safari but OK in Chrome and Opera?

Browsing my site with Opera or Chrome and then checking the browser history, page titles are listed correctly but in Safari they are mostly "Untitled Document." Most helpful to me if someone could check the code on a page and let me know what's awry. http://www.ristaustudio.com
    Thanks!

Looks ok to me in Safari on Mac.
One certainly needs some attention though - on the 'Contact' page. Somehow you have the meta 'keywords' tag inside the <title></title> tag:
    <title>Contact Mel Ristau
    <meta name="keywords" content="sculpture" />
    </title>

  • Pdf not loading correctly from Safari

I am having great difficulty, and others it seems, in downloading pdfs. I have a downloadable brochure for school classes as a pdf file, which works in other browsers, but not Safari. Pdf downloads worked fine in Jaguar but not Tiger. The pdf opens in a safari page. How do I access this as a regular pdf?

You want to download the pdf and read it with Adobe Acrobat 7.x, is that right? If so: when you see a file link on a page, look in Safari's >> Window menu for "Activity" and select it for a list of every file on that page. When you see your PDF file, Option + Double click the file name, and it should download, rather than open. This should work for any file listed in Activity. Your Download window will open, and the file will be downloaded to your default download folder, which you have set in Safari menu >> Preferences >> General tab.
There are other, more extreme methods of forcing Safari not to load PDF's, but this is easy and allows you options.

  • Mouse over images not resizing correctly in Safari

I have a series of thumbnail images of different sizes that, by using MouseOver, cause a larger image to appear. Safari only seems to resize "larger" and doesn't resize "smaller" resulting in distorted images. This site works fine in every other browser I can lay my hands on. I have managed to get a similar site to work fine but I don't really see the difference between the two. Any ideas on what I need to do? Site that doesn't work www.IllustriousPlay.com/test/Portfolio.html Site that does work www.IllustriousPlay.com/Page1.html Run your mouse over the various images. (Be warned I'm tinkering with the site, so it may have other things wrong with it.)

    Kowhai,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
    I see the distortions.
I am not involved in Web Site design, but will W3C Markup Validation Service help answer your question?
I see Failed validation, 16 errors when I enter your URL.
BTW, I like your colorful illustrations.

  • Cookies not deleting correctly in Safari

Why do my cookies re-appear after I reset Safari (4.02). Same issue with version 4.01. I've deleted the cookie file and that appears to work but I don't know why I need to do anything beyond resetting the browser. I've also deleted the cookie files from the time machine backup. Any suggestions?

I have called Apple Care 5 times about this problem. My cookies re-appear within 1 hour of my deleting them. At first it started when i would delete 20 cookies...and 5 would re-appear. I had NOT re-visited those 5 sites. Now i can delete all the cookies and they will all re-appear. The support tech at Apple Care said that she had never cleaned out her cookies before. She was shocked when they all re-appeared while we were talking. She had me Reset Safari. Didn't work. They had me re-download Safari 4. Didn't help.
I was able to successfully delete cookies for 12 months before this "glitch" started. This is a recent problem. Apple has been very nice but they don't treat cookies as a very important problem. Most people never clean out their cookies ever. I clean them out every night. I don't want anyone "tracking" me. Even if i didn't care about tracking, i don't want those cookies on my computer.
I do keep cookies for sites i use often so that i don't have to "sign-in" every time i visit.

  • E4200 Status_Router.asp dows not show correctly in Safari on the iPhone

If I  use Safari on th iPhone and log into the router config
and navigate to the Status section
The Status_Router asp does not show any IP information the fields are empty
From a "real" browser things are fine
The only way I know if there is an IP is if the DHCP Lease Time
    is showing a expiration/renewal time

Contact Safari for the IPhone as a 'real browser' displays properly.
