W2K will not authenticate to Mac OS X Server.

My Mac OS X 10.4.3 will authenticate via Open Directory, but my Windows 2000 Pro. machine will not authenticate with Active Directory. Is there any trick to get Active Directory running on the OS X Server?

Your question would be easier to answer if you had included information of what Mac you have and what version of Garageband you are trying to reinstall.
And why you deleted it in the first place.

Recently installed an OWC SSD hard drive in a mid-2009 mac book pro. The performance increase has been great! The problem I am having is the finder will not Authenticate for anything.
Let's say I want to move a file into my /Library/Application Support folder.

The finder just churns away. The same issue goes for unlocking system preferences (Try System Prefs / User & Groups, then click the lock icon. You should get an authentication dialog pop up box, I never do
I have restarted in safe mode or what ever it's called (holding the R key) to repair permissions, to no avail. Help!
I'm sure it has to do with permissions. Booting back into my HDD, I can do all of the above, though booting from the SSD, something has gotten corrupted. I know it's a corrupt system issue because I was able to make another user once upon a time.

Hi, see if this works...
First, Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, test if things work OK in Safe Mode.
Then move these files to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.recentitems.plist
Reboot & test.
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.

HP Envy 4500 will not scan to Mac

HP Envy 4500 will not scan to MAC. Printing works just fine but when I try to scan the printer says scanning but never completes the scan, there is no error message. I tried uninstall and reinstall of the software, upgraded to Mac OS Yosemite and tried re-install again, no luck.

From your description, it soudns like we may be haivng a osftware issue. Let's use the following steps to remove currenlty installed software, clean up the Mac, and reinstall the software again;
Scrub/ Uninstall
Open the Applications folder > HP or Hewlett Packard folder > HP Uninstaller
Click continue, click on one of the printers in the list.
* Only do this step if you do not have any other HP Printers. Hold down Control, Option and Command, While holding the three buttons down,
Click uninstall.
Reset Printing System
Click the Apple icon (   ), and then click System Preferences.
In the Hardware section, click Print & Fax/Scan. The Print & Fax/Scan dialog box opens.
Right-click (or  Ctrl  +click) in the left panel, and then click Reset printing system…
Click OK to confirm the reset.
Type the correct Name and Password.
Click OK to reset the printing system. The Print & Fax dialog box shows no printer selected
Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer removed can be re-added later by clicking the plus (+) symbol.
Repair Disk Permissions
On the Dock, click Applications, and then click Utilities.
Double-click Disk Utility.
Highlight your hard drive/partition on the left (by default this is "Macintosh HD").
Click the Repair Disk Permissions button at the bottom of the window.
Once the repair is complete, restart the computer.
Restart the printer. Now you can download and install the printer software and install it. > HP-ENVY-4500-series_v12.34.0.dmg
When you add the printer, please ensure you are using the HP driver.
Select Add other Printer or Scanner
Select the printer you are adding and next to 'Use' you can the printer driver

It downloaded all my contacts, photo's with no problem. I called the number they gave me from my old phone and then turned it off. I then put the sim card in and charged the phone. I followed all the setup steps and no I cannot send any text or make any phone calls. I get a message that they cannot authenticate my phone to dial #8899 but get the same message.

The easiest way would be to update to at least 10.7.5 (supported on most older Macs) but maybe you have strong reasons not to do so, however it will put you in to more trouble in the future because newer applications have more often the habit of not being able to support older OS versions due to limitations of this old OS.

However PS CC should still work on your system and otherwise CS6 should. As a cloud subscriber you still have access to both CC and CS6 on the Adobe CC download pages. But only PS is a major upgrade (changed to version 2014) and Bridge has just a minor update and should still work on 10.6.8 I would think?
Installing the updates and upgrades did not remove or uninstall the CC versions of PS, otherwise use CC application to install CC again.

you cannot use your pc license to install on a mac. you would need a separate license (and serial number) for that.
adobe allows platform swaps, but only with the latest (xi) version, Order product | Platform, language swap
your option to use acrobat on a mac are to upgrade to acrobat pro xi and change platforms, use a windows emulator (parallels/boot camp etc) on your mac or swap with a third party.

Where are you trying to get Flash Player from? Downloading is different from installing but many malicious websites offer to supply Flash Player as a means of installing malicious software and gathering personal information (e.g., passwords). Using your link, I downloaded the new version. When I dragged the Firefox icon into the applications folder, it asked if I wanted the new version to replace the existing one, and I said yes. I was then told that it couldn't be done because I had insufficient privileges for some items. Is the reason for this that I didn't trash the old version BEFORE dragging the new one into the applications folder (under the assumption that "replace" meant that the old version was trashed as the new one was installed)? If not, it appears that I am back to the same problem I've had before.
Since I'll be replacing this computer soon, it seems too troublesome to bother with this update. I'd just like the update reminders to go away!

Hi Terry, What version of Flash Player are you using? You should be able to tell by going to http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ Does it happen in browsers? Could you test in Safari, Firefox and Chrome? What happens when you try to play them? Is it possible to post a screen shot? Thanks, -Dave

1310 Root Bridge will not Authenticate with 350 Non Root Bridge

I've exhausted myself solving this issue.
I have a 1310 set as a root bridge using WEPS. I have a 350 set as a non root bridge/without clients, also using WEPS (they both use the same SSID)
The 350 will not authenticate to the 1310. After doing a Carrier Busy Test, it is clear the 350 see's the 1310 with signal strengh of 100 percent.
(I have a test lab setup in my office)
If I make the 350 the Root Bridge and the 1310 the Non Root, The 1310 will authenticate to the 350.
I hoping someone else has seen this problem and can enlighten me.

I have successfully configured a 1310 Bridge as a Root Bridge and a BR350 Bridge and a Non Root Bridge/with Clients. I also had to force the 1310 to operate at 11MB only.
As soon as I make the BR350 Bridge a Non Root Bridge/without Clients, the authentication is dropped between the two.
I was hoping I could transition to the 1310 one unit at a time since I have over a dozen 350's to replace.
