W2k3 End of Support 14 July 2015 + Terminal Server

Hi, all!
We use W2k3 for new installation projects with Terminal Server Licencing. We activate now our Termainal Server Licencing on https://activate.microsoft.com. After that we install CALs licenses per users and use this PC for our old applications.
As Microsoft will support activation our servers licencing after 14 July 2015 when W2k3 is out of support?
Thanks
P.S: If I choose wrong place with my question please give me a link

If it is already activated then it will remain activated. If you are asking if you will need to do extra activation in the future after that the OS gets out support then you might to check with a Microsoft Activation Center in your country.

  • Windows 2008 R2 domain controllers with Windows 2003 forest functional level Supported after Windows 2003 support ends in July 2015

    Hi
Anyone knows whether Windows 2008 R2 domain controllers with Windows 2003 forest functional level will still be Supported after Windows 2003 support ends in July 2015 ?
    Thanks

When Windows Server 2003 support ends, you should not have a Windows Server 2003 Domain Controller running if you would like to be supported by Microsoft. This means that there will be no reason to have a DFL or FFL that is lower than Windows Server 2008.
So, if you are keeping Windows Server 2003 FFL to keep DCs running Windows Server 2003 then this is not supported.

  • Windows Server 2008 End Of Support from Microsoft

    Hi Team,
We are planning to user windows server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition for our application servers hosting. Before we install, would like to know when the support for 2008 ends from Microsoft
Please let me know your comments and also provide any reference links

    Hi,
Did you talked about Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 or Windows Server 2008 SP2?
Support ends 24 months after the next service pack releases or at the end of the product's support lifecycle, whichever comes first.
Accordig to the message above, mainstream support of Window 2008 R2 product family will be ended on 13/1/2015, and there is no new service pack released, then 2008 R2 SP1 support will also end on 13/1/2015 since when support for a product ends, support of
all the service packs for that product will also end.
Besides, you can also check the Service Pack Lifecycle Support Policy below:

I have an iphone4 and that I have had for four years and they are saying that I am not eligible for an upgrade until the end of July 2015. That is four years and 3 months after I purchased this phone. "Customer service" said I had an upgrade at the end of July 2013, which I did not. She said that in the system my husband took an upgrade July 29th 2013. He didn't even have a Verizon phone, he had a work phone with T-mobile. I have asked what device he supposedly upgraded to since no phones have been activated and we all still have our same phones and numbers. Remember at the time, said husband had a work phone with T-mobile. I still have the very same phone as do all of the rest of my family members. No one has upgraded. I spoke with "customer service" for more than a half an hour today, Char promised me that her supervisor (Emily) would call me back by 7:30 tonight to clear up this problem. Well guess what? No call back so where should I go from here? Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help.

someone swapped upgrades.  Phone could have been sold For quick cash.

  • Jabber for terminal server support

Are there any work around's to allow jabber to work in a terminal server environment? I have a client that needs this functionaily and cannot upgrade to XenDesktop.
    Please help.

    Hello,
Regarding BFCP and content sharing from Cisco Jabber Video for TelePresence 4.8.6 on Windows to Jabber Video 9.3.9 for iPad clients.Jabber Video for TelePresence(Movi) cannot stop sharing presentation on the call.
I wish to know if what versions this is actually fixed in? I have read the release notes and I am still unable to find an answer.
I read in Cisco Bug Toolkit this is a known bug CSCup04761 and the only workaround is to disconnect the call.
CSCup04761 - Movi can't stop sharing main video presentation Symptom:Jabber Video for TelePresence(Movi) cannot stop sharing presentation on the call.
Conditions:When using Movi to share a presentation to an endpoint that doesn't support BFCP (such as Jabber for iPad).
    Workaround: Disconnect the call.

  • WSA S160 Support for Terminal Servers (How are terminal server connections handled?)

We have a terminal server environment with a mixture of computers and laptops. Currently we have multiple proxy servers and would like to considate down to one. Our current solution does not work well in a terminal server environment. We are looking for a way to integrate all equipment with one soluton and I was curious as to how the S160 handled users connecting via a terminal server.

Edadios thanks for the response. I was reading over this document (see attached), and it looks to me like the connection would be tracked via a cookie surrogate. My bigger concern is that we are looking to be able to track usage per user even though they are on a terminal server. Our current solution (Barracuda) is not able to perform this function. I am hoping to have a S160 on site this week to do some testing but was hoping to gather some intel in the forums prior to implementation.
The response helps clear up what protocols are in use but I am still wondering how terminal server connections are handled by the WSA and if they are truly handled and tracked per user instead of by the device they are connecing to.

  • Bundles fail on W2K3 Terminal Server

    Hi,
I have a Windows 2003 terminal server. It is running ZCM ZENworks Adaptive Agent Version: 10.3.3.44626
All bundles assigned to users fail with the error "Failed to process launch in user space"
E.g. a simple Explorer launch bundle:
    Event Type: Warning
    Event Source: Novell.Zenworks.Logger
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 0
    Date: 23-1-2012

ActionMan.ActionContinueOnFailure: The action Launch Action (ID:) failed due to the reason : Failed to process launch in user space "C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe "., however the action is set to continue on failure.
This particular one has a trailing space, but others do not and also fail.
The server was running fine with the ZDM 7 agents.
Also the administrator accounts don't seme to be affected.
Help and advice is welcome, as users want to use this server.

Along with the Logging Shaun suggested to see the details about the
failure, you may want to try create a "local group" for testing.
Grant that group "Full Rights" to the %ZENWORKS_HOME% Folder
    (Recursively to include sub directories.)
Then put test users in/out of that group to see if that helps.
(Note: That is not normally required, but trying to troubleshoot with
    simple but sweeping tests.)

  • SCSM Support Terminal Server Role?

    Hi, We are in SCSM 2012 SP1 (not R2), on Win2008 R2 and SQL 2008R2;
SCSM server is now set up as standard windows 2008 server with only two concurrent RDP connections. I am wondering if I can change it to TErminal Server Role to accept more concurrent RDP connections?
    Patrick Zhang

i have successfully advertised the console through Citrix, and performance was pretty good. if you're looking to consolidate your install base, or service users across the WAN, this is a good method. you might consider
    RemoteApp
    style deployment.
i'd be careful when adding it to an existing RDP or Citrix environment, since the console is pretty memory hungry. 1-2 GB per console is not unusual, but you should expect at least some of that to be binary image memory that won't need to be duplicated between
    user sessions.

  • End of support for AD functional level?

Has anyone ever seen something from Microsoft regarding their support policy for AD functional levels?
Should one assume that since Windows Server 2003 support will end in July 2015, that this would indicate that the "Windows Server 2003" domain and forest functional levels would also become unsupported at that time?

    Hi,
As far as i know the forest and domain functional levels don't have a support lifecycle.
The FFL and DFL only enable new features in the new domain. So i don't think it is really something that can be put into a support contract as such and therefor doesn't have a support lifecycle associated with it.
    Thanks

  • Unable to Copy File From Terminal Server to Client Share

    Hi
For years client have been able to copy files from our Windows 2003 Terminal Server to their local workstation using:
    copy myfile \\tsclient\mydrive\myfolder
However we upgraded to Windows 2012 Server R2 and now Windows 7 Pro clients cannot copy files.  The copy function creates the file name in their local folder but no content is sent after maybe 20 minutes or so the copy function times out and they get an
error message saying that the application was unable to write to the file.  I have tried this function with my Windows 8.1 workstation and the file copies properly and it works fine for older Windows XP clients.  Does anyone know why Windows 7 clients
    are experiencing this issue.
    Thanks
    Simon

    Hi Simon,
Initially please use latest RDP version 8.1 for windows 7 and check result.
What’s the file size which you are copying?
Does this happens for all users and on all computers?
You can try below method might resolve your case.
    1. Login to remote computer using Remote Desktop (RDP).
    2. Open Task Manager in the remote machine
    3. Click the "Process" tab
    4. Locate a program called "rdpclip.exe"
    5. Right click and select "End process" to kill this program
    6. Click on "File" menu in the task manager and select "New Task (Run)"
    7. Type rdpclip.exe and press the button to start the process.
By killing existing instance of the rdpclip.exe and restarting the program, you can get your copy paste work again in your remote desktop.
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.

  • Problem with Photoshop hangs/freezing for users on a terminal server

    Dear Forum!
I'm having some trouble with Photoshop freezing over a period of ~20 minutes when you (1.) user the eraser with special brushes and (2.) copy and paste material from a PDF to Photoshop. As you might notice by the size of this post i'm getting quite depserate over here and need some help.
    A Little background information...
Photoshop CS6 is installed on a terminal server with ~25 Active users where 3 of them are using Photoshop.
The operating system on the server is Windows Server 2012 R2.
There are no additional add-ons just a plain installation of Photoshop in that matter.
The server uses 40-60% of the memory most of the time (mostly a bit less, some times a bit more but never 100%) and 40% of the CPU.
There's enough space free on the disc.
    The problem in detail...
There are two occasions where the freezing has occured most of the time. After it hangs for the first time, it will happen everytime you do any of the operations over a period of ~20 minutes and it's Mutual for all users. When it freezes, the whole terminal session freezes but the program i still responding (it's not getting set to "not responding") when viewed from Another user through the task manager. Ending the process as an administrator sometimes work, although from the moment i end he proces it takes about 10-60 seconds Before the program actually Closes and the user gets back Control. The easiest thing to do most of the time is if an administrator forces them to log out.
    1. The first occasion is when you use the eraser with a brush that's not standard but manually added. The names of the brush packages used are:
    Extacy__Elemental
    KKC_Fractal
    Kornkid's_Grunge_Set
and the problem is with all brushes inside those packages. The way i evoke the problem is the following:
         1. Start Photoshop
         2. Create new
         3. Fill the background with any color
         4. Select the eraser tool
         5. Change the brush to one of the ones mentioned above
         6. Program freezes
    2. The second scenario when the problem occurs is when the users copy something from a PDF to Photoshop. The way i evoke this is:
         1. Open a PDF
         2. Select area and copy it
         3. Open Photoshop
         4. Create new
         5. Paste into Photoshop
         6. Program freezes
Solutions we have tried so far...
I've been working on this for several round now and i'm not entirely sure on what exactly i have done. I will try and do the following solutions once more but i'm pretty sure that i have tried most of them.
    Update graphic card drivers.
    Resetting all Tools:
         1. Select options for a tool
         2. choose "Reset all Tools"
    Resetting presets:
         1. Hold ctrl + shift + alt while Photoshop is starting
         2. select "yes"
Tested if it matters if i have a pen connected or not, which it doesn't.
Removed the special brushes (but it still freezes when copy/paste from PDF)
Removed "save in background" and "automatically save recovery information" options
    Updated to latest version.
    Turned off OpenGL
Solutions i haven't, but will try...
    Reinstall Photoshop
    Change font preview size
         1. Go to "type"
         2. select "Font prview size"
         3. select "none"
    Delete system font cache
Close all Adobe applications including the Creative Cloud desktop app (if installed).
    Navigate to \Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\Appdata\Local
Delete the *FNTCACHE*.DAT or *FontCache*.dat files.
NOTE: The asterisk (*) indicates various numbers, letters, or words, such as FontCache-S-1-5-21.dat or COFFfntCache.dat.
    Delete Photoshop font cache
Exit Photoshop and the Creative Cloud desktop app (if installed).
    Navigate to the appropriate folder
    Photoshop CS6 and earlier.
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe
    Windows 7: \Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\Adobe
    Photoshop CC and CC 2014
    Windows 7 and 8: \Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC or CC 2014
         3. Delete the TypeSupport folder (Photoshop CS6 and earlier) or the CT Font Cache folder (Photoshop CC and CC 2014), and empty the trash.

    Hi Mylenium!
Thanks for your reply but since the users work on the terminal server via remote dektop the only data sent through the network is a "Picture" of what is happening on the server. All the operations are handled on and by the server and nothing is executed on the users local machine. Also all files are stored on the server therefore the load on the network is minimum.
We are not the first in the World to run this setup and i know that this is possible to do since i've read about others running PS like this.
    Kind Regards,
    J. Alm
