W32time /monitor when syncing time in in PDC from external time servers

Hi,
I have moved the PDC to a new DC in our lab environment (from 2003 to 2012r2).
Computers and domain controllers are syncing time from the PDC and the PDC is syncing time from external servers. This is working according to event log in PDC and computers.
But, when running w32tm /monitor on the PDC it says:
dc01 ***PDC *** ....
ICMP 0ms delay
ntp +0.000 offset from dc01
ref id: (unknown) [0x5c089E0a]
What does the hex code says in this context "ref id: (unknown) [0x5c089E0a]"? I expected the external time server here.
When running w32tm /query /peers it lists the two time servers that we use:
Peer: 10.158.x.x
State Active
Peer: 10.159.x.x
State active.
Is the 0x... as ref id normal? What is that refering to?
Thanks,
Oskar

ref id: (unknown) [0x5c089E0a] is still present after running the commands:
net stop w32time
w32tm /unregister
w32tm /register
net start w32time
and then reconfiguring for external time source.
This must be a presentation error in Server 2012 R2. If running w32tm /monitor on a server 2003 dc instead of 2012 r2 dc it is presenting
ref id: (unknown) [10.158.x.x] instead of ref
id: (unknown) [0x5c089E0a].
Also, if running w32tm /query /configuration and looking at the field type it says:
Type: NTP (Local)
NTPServer: 10.158.x.x 10.159.x.x (local) which means that it is synching externally. This is also shown in the event logs.
Do you agree this is only a presentation issue?
/Oskar

  • System hangs when copying large quantity of files from external HD

    A little background:
I was having some problems with the original OS (10.4.1), including periodic freezes. I bought the Mac Box Set '09 and installed Snow Leopard (10.6.5), but ran into some problems and in the process had to reformat my internal hard drive. I backed up all of my photos (~16GB), Documents (~1.5GB) and Music (~50GB) on a WD external hard drive (My Passport 750GB).
*The problem*: After the 10.6.5 install, the computer works great (no random freezing when I click around in Finder), but I am having trouble copying files back to the internal HD from the external. I can copy up to about 1GB at a time without any problems, but any time I try to copy more than that, the system hangs (first the spinning disk cursor, then it totally freezes) and I have to do a hard reset. I have tried copying a number of different folders (pictures and music), and the same holds true: small folders with a few files copy without a hitch, but any time I try to copy a lot of files at once: freeze city. This problem occurs whether I am using Finder to copy the files or iPhoto/iTunes to import them.
I have verified both disks using the Disk Utility AND restructured/verified them using DiskWarrior. I also had no problem copying all of my files from My Passport to a second external HD using this MacBook, so I assume the Passport is fine. Is this a physical problem with my internal HD? If so, why can't DiskWarrior or DiskUtility catch it? I just noticed that there is an internal HD recall for this model of macbook, although I have never gotten the question mark on startup that would qualify me for a replacement HD from Apple. Maybe it's a problem with Snow Leopard... I would love to know if anyone has had this problem before or has some advice.
    Thanks,
    Sam

External USB/FW drives 'falling off' or drives spinning down (going to sleep) and I would assume since you have been running 10.4 that the Passport might be older model, perhaps not the latest firmware, maybe not compatible with Macs and with Snow Leopard.
Obviously you want FW800 but for some, USB worked where FW fails.
Hard Reset: do you have another hard drive to boot from to run Disk Warrior? is that updated to 4.2 or later? you never want to run DW from CD. Else, boot from OS X 10.6.5; or Single User and run FSCK. HFS+ doesn't take kindly to hard restarts even though a Safe Boot helps a little, that isn't as good as FSCK or one of the other options.
Disk Warrior Rebuild is more thorough, but if you hold OPTION while clicking on REBUILD it brings up more choices. And you want to scan the full hard drive.
Going back to Aug/Sept 2009, there were a lot of threads about external hard drive issues. Wish I could point to a good one.

  • Time Machine Back-up from External Hard Drive

Time Machine only back-up what is on my MBP Drive,
Can I back-up files from an external usb drive that is connected to MBP to TM???
if no what is a good back-up software to use????
    Thanks.

This is in regards to the function of an iMac (new 3.06 GHz intel dual core processor), Time Machine, Lacie 500 GB hard drive and an APC 750 standard battery back up system. This is the closest thread regarding my particular issue and hope other users find this useful and there is some response.
The time machine backup using the Lacie external hard drive is working fine when everything is on. I did not install the software that came with the APC 750 battery backup since a) when connected to the iMac, the iMac recognizes it and appears to be working and b) the forums recommended the software isn't needed and not overly compatible. I have the iMac plugged into the Master Outlet that controls a few slave periperals to save power, etc. The instructions indicate external hard drives are good to be plugged into slave outlets.
The issue I am having is that I have the Lacie hard drive plugged into the slave outlet and everytime I put the computer to sleep, I have to remember to eject the Lacie hard drive, since the battery backup (APC) shuts down the slave peripherals down rather abrubtly.
I'm wondering if this is something I will have to routinely remember to do or is there a way around this. It is a hassle since I am basically force to do manual backups using time machine since the computer is on (not sleeping) from about 5pm to 11pm and on weekends. I don't want to leave the Lacie external hard drive running perpetually in the surge outlets either because it seems to become active for no apparent reason...I believe I have all the settings set correctly, but this once an hour time machine backup may have something to do with it?
It should be noted that the Lacie hard drive seems to be active (ie beeping, spinning) during non-scheduled Time Machine backup. It did this when I kept it on all the time before my APC UPS, and as mentioned above, it still does. It seems to kick on more than once an hour. I always look in the time machine preferences and it will say for example, next time machine backup at 11:15 am, and the current time will be say 10:10 am. You would expect not to hear a peep from the Lacie external hard drive until 11:15 am, but I do.
In summary: 1) do I need to always eject the external hard drive disc when plugged into slave outley, and perform manual time machine backups and 2) while the computer is on, is it normal for the drive to activate during non-scheduled time machine backups?
    Thanks,
    Robbie

  • To transfer time events from external time recording system to sap r/3

    hi all,
I have a task to make an interface program between external time recording and sap r/3, and then to transfer the time events from that external system to sap system with the help of an rfc, i have got some information like the data first has to be transferred to the table CC1TEV and then from this table the data will be uploaded to 2011 infotype with the help of a standard program, but i am unable to find a solution for making the interface program and the RFC or BAPI which will transfer the records from external system.
if anybody has any information on this plz help me out to solve this problem.

Which recorgding terminals using to capture time events? They should have give some guidelines about this?

  • How can recover a Time Machine backup deleted from my time capsule?

I made a Time Machine backup from my Time Capsule. Yesterday I entered to my Time Capsule to deleted some files and I made a mistake and deleted my backup time machine and empty the trash of my computer. Is it posible recover that Time Machine Backup? Thank you very much.

For most users, it is not possible to retrieve a file that has been deleted this way.
In order to do so, you would have needed to power off your Time Capsule immediately after the file was deleted. Then, you must open up the Time Capsule and remove the hard drive, place it in a special enclosure, and use special software to try to retrieve the data.
Even if you do this, there is no guarantee that you will be able to retrieve the file.

  • Get date from Oracle when local time zone is different from Oracle time zon

    Hi!
    Local machine time zone= +2
    Oracle time zone= +1
I set date to Oracle using java.sql.Date.
From application I save date at 00:30 clock and send e.g. 28.06.2002, but in Oracle date is save as 27.06.2002 01:00 (hour=01 , I suppose that is because java.sql.Date hasn't time the Oracle set it time = time zone=+1) And when I get date from Oracle I get incorrect date. In SQL I don't use date masks. Maybe solution is to use java.sql.Timestamp object (when save date to Oracle) instead of java.sql.Date?
But if I save date at e.g. 01:00 clock and send e.g. 28:06.2002 in Oracle, date is save as 28.06.2002 01:00 and when I read from Oracle I get correct date.
    Thank you.

  • Tv Show Purchased on ATV, when synced with iTunes wrongly removed from ATV

I have a Season Pass for Family Guy. Every new episode, when I sync the Apple TV - the new episode gets copied to the Mac and is removed!!! from the Apple TV - in contradiction to the checkmark I have on the option "Include Episodes from Playlists:" - "Purchased on Apple TV"
I bought the Season on the Apple TV.
The new show automatically downloads to the Apple TV.
I can start watching the new episode.
When iTunes starts the sync, it does not know about the new episode. But checks for Purchased/New content.
Finds and begins copying the new episode to Mac.
The new episode is no longer on the Apple TV.
I must check the new episode name, and Sync again,
and wait for the episode to copy back,
It was already there, shouldnt need to copy it back.
Please give me the option to say "Dont take it off the ATV" or obey that inclusion checkmark when the new episode is discovered to have been purchased on the ATV. "Include Episodes from Playlists:" - "Purchased on Apple TV"

  • Deleting time machine backup files from old time machine disk

I have an external USB HD that USED to be my Time Machine backup disk. I have replaced it with a newer FW HD and use the old one for archiving files, disk images, etc. The old disk still had 100gigs of backup files on it from time machine. To free up space, I thought I'd drag a few months of backups off the old dick into the trash. This worked. But I can't empty the trash. When I go to put the backup folders BACk on the USB disk, I get an error. So they are stuck in the trash.
    Any help? Thanks.

I have always understood that there is no need to delete backup files from Time Machine.   Once it reaches 'full' it begins to delete them sequentially of its own accord.

  • Error -36 when trying to copy AVI files from External Drive to Mac

    Hi
Hoping for some help with a problem I appreciate others have faced.
I bought a new video camera recently and have just tried to copy the AVI files from the first few videos to my mac but am getting the error code 36 that states the files cannot be read or written.
The format of the camera is MS-DOS (FAT 32) but when I tried changing it to MAC OS Extended it did something to the camera so the mac could then not recognise it when I tried to re-connect it via the USB port.
I've been able to copy the files onto my friends Windows laptop no problem so don't believe them to be corrupt.
Have also tried the dot_clean fix but this didn't work.
Could there be another reason for the error? Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

I hear 3rd Party, or HW Raid 0/1/5/10 are OK, but 6 months is the absolute most I got out of my many screaming RAID setups before they completely lost it!
Bummer. I'm not really doing this for speed though, just for total storage volume and constant, worry-free, no-brainer back-up. I guess RIAD in general is something I need to study up on. Would a simple mirror of one 500GB drive to another (back-up) - and do that twice - be a better, more reliable way to go?
I've used Tri-Backup3/4 for years for Backups, it's fast, automatic, reliable, works in the background if you wish...
Back-up software always seemed to have some kind of a hiccup to it, but I'll certainly look into Tri-Backup3/4. I used to Retrospect years ago, a rather fussy thing if I recall.
Now, on the Safe Mode boot - not a success BUT a different result!
I got the -36 again, but this time it was the external drive FILE that errored, not the OS-resident drive.
In other words, pre-Safe Mode the error said "...because some data in "ZillaHAL" could not be read or written." (ZillaHAL is my OS-X drive).
In Safe, it read, "...because some data in "WinXP Pro.vmem" could not be read or written."
"WinXP Pro.vmem" is the virtual machine file - which basically is a simple Mac volume (folder) containing all of the files to run my XP virtual machine.
Also, this time, a file* did manage to remain on the external drive whereas before, after the error, no file at all remained.
    * a generic icon appears, but it shows a size of 16+GBs. The actual file is 18.13GB - I did manage to shrink it down the other day (from it's previous 25GB).
Well, that's it for now. I'll be away for three days, so don't mind me if I cannot reply back for a spell.
    Thanks BD,

  • Deleting Time Machine backup folder from external drive

I'm trying to delete my Time Machine backup folder off my external hard drive, but the system won't let me because it says [my computer name] folder is in use, when it clearly isn't; I've turned off Time Machine and deselected my drive as backup.
Additionally, it takes about an hour for my trash bin to count the number of folders it needs to delete, and only after this does it say it is unable to delete these folders.
How can I delete my backup folder?

This is a picture of my Disk Utility display showing my internal drive (labeled 750.16 GB...... & below it the name ROBESPIERRE).  Below that is an external drive I have connected (labeled 160.04 GB..... & below it the name untitled).
Note that the external HDD, 160.04 GB...... entry has been selected (shown in blue).  That will open the 'Partition' window.  If you select on the name, the 'Partition' window will not be an option.
Make certain that you have selected the correct entry.
    Ciao.

  • After installing mountain lion, can i back up all my files from external time machine hard drive if i did the back up under Lion?

Hi. Want to find out before installing new Mountain Lion if I will be able to restore all my files (music, documents....) from my external hird drive if the back up was done under Lion. Or it is better to simply copy everything, altough it would be good to keep iTunes, contacts etc as well as they are at the moment. Could someone please tell me how to do it so I can go on with it and will not have to struggle after the installation? Many thanks.

You can do this. If you did an OS X Mountain Lion clean install, it will ask you to restore a backup, so connect a Time Machine disk and restore that

It's likely that the drive is malfunctioning or that there is an internal hardware fault, but to confirm, see below.
Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Error when trying to load iPhoto library from External HD

I copied my iPhoto library to my 3TB Seagate External HD to save space on my MacBook Air, but when I try to load that library (either by holding option as I open it and select the one in my HD or by double clicking the one in my HD) I get this error message: "Your photo library is either in use by another application or has become unreadable." My iPhoto library is taking up too much space, please help!

What format is that external drive?
